5.1 Audio with Fire TV through Kodi Possible? Need Help (Home Cinema) - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
does anyone use an Home Cinema with the fireTV and can get HD Audio to passthough? Ive tried all different settings in Kodi and i just get a very high pitched static.
Im not sure if the fireTV supports it but there are dolby digital ON/OFF in the settings so i assumed it would.
Thanks in advance.

someone posted this possible solution. Please let me know if it works. I haven't let the update go through because of this issue alone. Thanks.

ac3 in spmc is working if i disable dd+
but i can't get my dts working.
tried all different combinations pcm/raw ac3 dts capable passtrough is enabled.
is there a bug in spmc that it is not working (signal for dts transfered via passtrough over hdmi)?
please reply if someone is able to play dts files and wich settings were made in spmc 16.2

Hi I posted the solution, follow that link and it should work fine. I lost my DTS and dolby sound when the new update happened last week.
I restored my dts settings perfectly using firmware 5.05.1 and kodi jarvis 16.0... passthrough enabled in kodi along with DTS capable receiver are selected.

I heard that with spmc 16.2 version, you can even have DTS-HD and TrueHD (upto 7.1 channels) passthrough firetv if you have OS 5. There is a toggle in audio settings between Dolby/DTS passthrough and HD audio passthrough.
Since I have the rooted OS 3, HD audio is not going through but only the core Dolby/DTS 5.1 goes through. Jellybean OS is not capable of passing HD audio but lollipop does.
You still have to do the firetv settings posted above in post #2.

HD audio is not working for me on OS5 using SPMC 16.2. I too had the no dts playback issue and the above fix didn't work for me since it was already set to that. I turned off sync video to display or whatever it's called and my dts playback worked again.

XBMC Gotham (13.2) and Kodi (14.0 alpha 3) no audio for avi and mp4

Just tried both Gotham 13.2 and Kodi (14.0 alpha 3) on my new Fire TV. but same result:
- Playing MKVs (720p, 1080p, x.264 with DTS/MA => work ok, passthrough is enabled
- AVI files and MP4 files with audio tracks in MP3 or AAC => video ok, but no audio
I have played with the audio settings (passthrough on or off etc), but no effect.
Has someone seen this before ? I can't imagine my configuration is very unique:
Fire TV with latest firmware, XBMC/Kodi sideloaded via ADB. FireTV connected to Onkyo TX-NR636.
Hi, I have a similar problem with my setup Fire TV>Onkyo TX NR 626. Everything works fine until I play a file with DTS or DTS HD MA audio in it. Once i play this file, I get no navigation sounds, no sound from files with AAC and MP3 audio. If I come out of XBMC, there is no sound in any other apps in the fire tv. Below is how I can fix it.
1. Restart fire tv.
2. switch input on the AV receiver to something else and switch back.
3. Disable "DTS Capable Receiver" in XBMC audio settings.
There definitely seems to be a bug with XBMC and Onkyo receiver. I have posted in xbmc forum about the issue and there are other users who have this problem. Google the below and you will find my xbmc post.
Android - No navigation sounds after DTS playback on Amazon Fire TV
PS: I guess we both are in touch on the xbmc forum. Didn't notice your user id earlier.
I'm running Kodi Alpha 4 without any issues (just a few incompatible addons). I've resolved a lot of audio/video issues by changing some setting on the tv itself. You can check and make sure that your tv settings are up to snuff.

Fire TV Box (Gen 1) w/ Kodi 15.2: DD+ works, but No Signal for DTS

I rooted my Fire TV box and am running a pre-rooted 51.1.6.3_user_516012020 firmware.
Installed Kodi 15.2 and connected it to my NAS drive. Most of my movie library consist of audio in Dolby Digital and DTS. Never had an issue playing my movies over my previous modified WDTV Live box while connected to my Yamaha RX-V467 audio receiver using HDMI from box to receiver and receiver to TV. The receiver supports Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD.
Running Kodi I can get Dolby Digital Plus with no issues, but playing any movies that have DTS makes my receiver display PCM with only 2 channels. If I manually switch the receiver to DTS decoding, I don’t get any sound, not even that white noise that most people mention. The receiver displays “No Signal”. I have enabled/disabled the pass-through with no luck. I have audio channels set to 2. In the Fire TV settings, I have tried both auto and the manual DD+ over HDMI. I also tried using an optical cable while making sure I changed the audio setting in the Fire TV to recognize this change, but it also didn’t make any difference.
I thought I read somewhere that the native apps on the Fire TV support DD+ and DTS, so I opened a trial account with Netflix, selected the tier with HD and Ultra HD. I mean it’s free for one month, why not select the best option they have. I noticed Netflix only states whether a movie is in 5.1 surround sound or stereo. It doesn’t show you the specific audio format. So I played a movie with 5.1 audio and my receiver told me it was DD+. Okay, so that’s good, but I already knew it played DD+ from using Kodi earlier. My next issue was finding a movie that uses DTS on Netflix. I googled and found a list of movies that have DTS. Yet every movie that I searched for on Netflix (at least 10) was not found. Does Netflix not offer movies that have DTS audio? If not, that is just sad because there are a bunch of good movies.
Anyone have any suggestions to test DTS audio from the home screen of the Fire TV, or better yet, how to resolve DTS “No Signal” when using Kodi?
Thank you!

Is there anyone who has AAC 5.1 transcoding to AC3 5.1 working in Kodi?

EDIT: Nevermind it just started working.
I swear it worked before with older versions.
I am almost positive I used to be able to select "2 speakers" in the firetv settings, which resulted in AAC being transcoded to AC3 5.1 in Kodi without any problem.
Now, those options in native firetv settings are gone. I can get it working via kodi by enabling "best match, 2.0" which forces the AAC track to be encoded to 5.1 ad then select transcoding (the options for DD arent there with any other settings in kodi)... but its choppy and slow audio. Even on lowest everything.
What happened? Did they prevent AAC->AC3? Did they get in bed with Apple? I cannot seem to get it now and it worked perfect before (when I was able to select the speaker config in firetv official settings). Now no 5.1 in AAC? Wtf?
Tell me its gone and I will have a compute stick immediately.
EDIT: Nevermind it just started working.

Atmos fire stick TV 4k

Hello! I have my fire stick TV stick 4k connected directly to my hw-q70t 5.1.2 Soundbar. And it plays Dolby Atmos on Jack Ryan (at least it says so in the soundbar). But that's it. If a play a MKV file with trueHD traxky it will sound and it will say it has trueHD in Kodi, but the soundbar doesn't say it is Atmos. Can you be playing a trueHD track and not be playing ATMOS? I'm very confused... If I could receive any light from you that would be very much appreciated...maybe I have to root or something like that...

Find solution of 5.1 audio out from netflix and prime in andorid tv

Netflix and prime stream a video in eac3 format where as old receiver support ac3 . and this app need hdmi connection for 5.1 audio. Step 1 enable arc and cec set digital audio out to auto step 2 you find no sound means multichannel audio stream then again disable arc in receiver. And play again and find 5.1 surround sound come through optical out. Note if not work then force stop the app. Do the same procedure especaily in Amazon netflix and hotstar. Thanks kumarswamy.
