Just power off the phone. Power it back on with pressing the volume button down and the power button at the same time, when the LG logo appears release the power button for a couple of seconds and press it again till you boot into the factory reset menu. Then you just have to select yes two times and then your phone will boot up TWRP Recovery. Don't be afraid of the factory reset menu, this is how the LG G4 boots into TWRP, it wont reset your phone. :good:

Getting into TWRP Recovery

Hello everybody,
I hope somebody can help me, I just flashed TWRP and CMB on my 8.3
But i forgot to wipe data before. Now the boot animation still stays.
Can somebody tell me how to get into TWRP, I tried everything. Power + Vol + - ....
Is it a good idea to recover it with the LG tool?
Thanks,
Beagle
First of all you need the 2.6.3.1 version of twrp as the previous one cant enter recovery with a key combo. Then try this:
- With Device Powered Off And Unplugged
- Press and hold Power Button + Volume Down
- When the LG logo shows up, release the power button only
- Now press and hold the Power and Volume Up button while keeping your hold on the Volume Down button
- When the factory reset screen appears, release your hold on all buttons
- Follow On Screen Indications

I just tried it myself, and he's got it basically right.
When you first see the LG logo after holding Vol Down + Power, let go of both buttons, then immediately hit and hold Vol Down + Vol Up + Power. It should register.

[Q] How to enter recovery mode using key combination?

I can use "adb reboot recovery" to enter TWRP 2.7 recovery mode, but I want to use key combination, please tell me how to that.
Hold Power + Vol Down > Wait until LG Logo pops up and release from both buttons > quickly hold Power + Vol Up + Vol Down again
It will pop up with some message about reset to factory settings, but it's all a bluff.
Hit Power x3 times to confirm and you'll get to TWRP recovery
Thanks, it works.
actually I enter this factory reset mode before, but i just don't know it a "fake".
so will this erase all data or not?

That will depend on whether you've installed TWRP or not.
If you've still got the original recovery it will wipe it like it says it will, if you've got a custom recovery it will take you to it.
The standard recovery isn't a recovery like you're expecting it to be, if just has a way of resetting things to default without allowing you to do anything extra. OEM don't like giving people options but want a way to reset to defaults that the customer can use before needing to return a faulty unit which might not be faulty. If that makes sense.

From what I can tell, it's not a "bluff". It seems that the stock recovery partition would just automatically do a factory reset, so it warns you before booting the recovery partition. Seeing as you're non-stock, it just boots into TWRP/CWM. It's a valid warning that's simply set up in a weird way.

You don't.
We'll you might be able to but you're going about it the wrong way.
First you need to find the right forum for your device, then you read, followed by more reading.
At some point you've hopefully discovered that you should have done all this reading before you reset your device.
Also before pressing the post button on your next post, read it first to make sure it makes sense.
Thank you very much, I tried other combinations found on some web pages that failed. This one worked!
Issue remains.

I got myself in a pretty bad situation. I have the stock rom. I am trying to get that back using recovery but it's not working. Only factory reset screen. This tablet stopped working in 2015. It cannot write ANY data ANYWHERE. Can't take pics, Can't take screenshots, Can't download apps. Nothing. I really want my tablet back... :/

I'm probably not the best person to help, however if you put a new post up with more details on what you have access too, the community will be able to help out.

Install LG software on your computer first. Then with the tablet completely off, hold VolUp and plug the tablet into the computer. That will enter LG download mode. Use the LG software on your PC to install the latest firmware available for your device. From there you can use the guides on this forum to go custom if you so desire.

Somebody please help...

I have the h815 international version on MM, my bootloader is unlocked and is rooted
I flashed the xtreme music mod and after flashing it said to wipe dalvik/ cache so I did and then it was booting up but now it seems stuck on starting apps, I did a nandroid backup before flashing the mod but it won't let me boot into it by holding vol down and power and then releasing and pressing back in power, please please help me...
Edit: it won't let me boot into recovery.
Super Edit: I held down power and volume down until the LG logo was present then let go and repressed the power button this will show a menu to factory reset the phone but if you click yes it will ask you again select yes again and it will boot into twrp (aslong as you've got it installed) now my phone is restored to its previous nandroid, thanks anyway XDA I know someone would of replied but I was becoming too impatient

LG G4 wont boot in recovery mode

Hi,
I have a bootloop issue (I was using LOS official and it crashed when I answered a call) and when I try booting in recovery mode it just starts normally.
I do the Power + Vol down until I see the LG logo then release both for a short time and hold them again but it starts the LOS bootanimation..
What I am doing wrong ?

The G4 has a really stupid way of entering the recovery. I couldn't get in for a while too. Try again making sure you are actually pressing the buttons together at the same time. That means having just one click. They have to be clicked down at the exact same time.
Also, the instructions you've seen (first Google result) may not be the best. This is what I do WITH a custom recovery (TWRP).
1. Power off completely
2. Holding power and volume down at the exact same time until the lg logo appears.
3. Continue holding the volume down button but release the power button for a second.
4. Press and hold power and volume down again.
5. When asked if you want to wipe the device, select yes. This won't wipe the device but will take you to TWRP (if you installed it). Otherwise, it wipes the device.

Same Issue here, I was on Genisys opened whatsapp cuause I had a new message and phone rebooted.
after that it just stay on LG logo.
I followed your steps and got to the option of factory reset but after I hit ok with the power button phone just reboots back to the LG logo.
I think mine is the genuine bootloop issue.

Hi guys, today I've managed to brick my G4 so it doesnt boot neither to recovery nor fastboot nor download mode. It just loops the LG logo as you can see here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gm0dh6bLp4
Any ideas how to recover?
Thank you

If you don't remember doing anything that might have caused this, then it may be the LG G4 bootloop bug.
I'd put the phone in a zip lock back, in the freezer overnight and then back up all my data as quickly as possible. You're phone may be dead.

I'm sure I've bricked it while flashing LOS (regular dirty flash of new weekly like i do nearly every week), this time just went something wrong...
As far as I can tell from some YT videos my reboot pattern is different from regular G4 bootloop
Thx for your replies, I managed to revive my phone after whole day of tinkering. Had to overcome some issues so I've posted the solution: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=73539738&postcount=1

Hmm, wait, ok. I did it finally, you just need to press them simultaneously and then when LG logo appears just release the power button for literally 1 second and then press and continue to hold both of buttons. That's it.

This actually worked!!!!....The 1 Second is crucial in the process, I did it on my first try after reading post
I did the procedure but it went to a page that said clear your phone or not! Just it, and there is no option to clean cache partition or any other

Restarted phone and now stuck in bootloop. No root, custom recovery.

My Moto G5 is stuck in a bootloop after i restarted it... I haven't ever flashed anything on it, no root, no custom recovery not even unlocked thr bootloader... What can I do about it?

The main option is to a factory reset
Turn phone off
Press volume down & whilst holding it down also hold power button
Use volume keys to scroll to recovery & power button to select
When the android logo appears hold power button then with it held press volume up
At the recovery menu press volume down until you reach wipe data/factory reset
Press power button to select
Use volume down & power button again to confirm
All data will be wiped and your phone will restart
Thanks
