Help/Basics for unrooting and rooting - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Gentleman I need some guidance. I used a custom rom and want to return my note 4 back to stock so I can update it to Marshmallow. The problem I'm having is that I cant' find lollipop stock for my phone, and when I do, I can't seem to flash it even using odin. Would you gentleman be kind to help me with this situation .. Thank you in advance

What's your device?
Sprint galaxy note 4?
If it's just download the firmware from general section or from sammobile then flash it using odin.
You have to install the drivers of the phone.
Or you can use flashfire app if you have root.

[Q] odin ,rom and recovery of device

hi i'm helping a friend upgrade his telstra galaxy note lte to 4.3
how do i use odin is there like a how to thread ?
what rom should i use to get a full generic experience and is safe to flash on this version of the galaxy note 2 ?
in the likely event of the device not flashing properly or getting bricked /soft bricked how do i recover the device ,(any how to thread ?)?
i'm new with samsung devices so i am sorry if my questions sound dumb
thanks
The easiest and safest route to root, get recovery and rom is to use a toolkit(search on xda mskip made a good one) or you can follow one of Dr. Ketans very easy and helpful guides.

not after root or custom roms , i am trying to manually upgrade the phone via odin as the update is not available on telstra version of the phone .... the reason i have asked is because i have read things dont update properly etc
If you just want to update go to sammobile and download the appropriate firmware for your model/area and flash as pda with odin. I think you have to install the drivers first so either install kies or you can use the toolkit all ready mentioned. If you need any guides then Dr ketan is the person so search for. He has written a guide on everything note 2

Actually you can upgrade to 4.4.2 with mobule odin, have mobile odin reboot you unto download mode and flash the 4.3 kernal with regular odin, and then root without any of the security fixes. Plus you'll be able to downgrade to 4.3 if you want.
---Edit---
Check this out, you'll have to translate it in Chrome.

Root without computer

T-mobile note 3
Is there anyway to root without a computer? I lost root after updating firmware through Kies. Figured I would ask.

You can root and flash custom recovery using Mobile Odin which is available at the Playstore.
Here is the playstore link for Mobile Odin: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.mobileodin.pro
(no need for any computer)
Good luck!
Misterjunky,
I lost root after the update. I am completely stock so mobile odin doesn't work... any other suggestions?

If you can go into download mode then you can
use cf-autoroot to re-root the phone.
Be sure to use the correct version of cf-autoroot for your
phone's model.
Here is the direct download link for cf-autoroot for the N900T Tmobile Note 3:
http://download.chainfire.eu/354/CF-Root1/CF-Auto-Root-hltetmo-hltetmo-smn900t.zip?retrieve_file=1
After rooting use "TWRP Coordinator" from the playstore to install TWRP
custom recovery.
Good luck!
I appreciate the help, but download mode would be in correlation with using a computer, correct? I don't have a computer...

I guess there is no solution without using odin and a computer...?

Need HELP: Samsung Note 4 Verizon, struck at boot

Hi,
Can anyone help me recover phone and my data, Samsung note 4 verizon, struck while trying to root. It is now at boot screen saying "verizon software repair assistant".
Sry but can't save the data on it now. Did you read before you tried to root it. There is no permanent root for the retail verizon note 4. Was your sytem on KK ot LP? If it was updated through kies or OTA then you can NOT roll back or even try to flah or root thr phone.

Thanks very much, i followed the steps given and the phone is up now.

New to Note4, want to root.

I'm sure you're tired of these noobie questions but...
I'm stock MM, is there an easy way to root? Do I need to wipe? I don't need a custom ROM at this time.
I've rooted and installed custom recoveries on previous phones but I'm not sure how Odin works.
Is there an up to date guide for this that will work with MM?
Thanks all.

I'll just tell you what tools you need to do root for MM.and about how to do, use Google to find out how to do that.
You need chainfire Auto-Root for sprint galaxy note 4 to flash it from odin.
Of course download odin and your phone drivers.
If you want custom recovery use twrp.
If you want how to use these tools Google is your friend.
