Xperia M5 Auto Shutdown Fix (temporary until official fix) - Sony Xperia M5

(alternate fix)
hi, guys!!
This is my first post where I will show you how to fix the
Auto shutdown problem until we get an official fix from
Sony.
Let's start:
Go to the Dial pad and type*#*#3646633#*#*
This will take you to engineer mode
Now go to Bandmode>SIM1 and unthick EGSM900, GSM850, WCDMA-GLR-850, WCDMA-GSM-900.
Now click set and that's it.
You may experience worse reception in places with bad reception but atheist you will be able to use your phone, that's why it's a temporary fix. I have been using this method for one month and it has worked.
I'm not an expert so if I am wrong in something please correct me ?

I forgot to mention that if you have 2 SIM card repeat the process on the second one

Just FYI, there's already an official fix, it's going to a Service Center to get your faulty battery replaced by a newer one without the issue. If you unit was manufactured in 2016 then you already have the new battery and are exempt from the issue, if you got your unit in 2015 and are experiencing random shutdowns, the warranty should cover you...

Yeah, I know but some people just don't have time to leave their phone in costumer service for minimum a week besides this method works pretty well.

Besides I bought my phone in January and I got this problem. I have taken it to the service center 3 times where they changed the battery 3 times.

I said units manufactured in 2016, not units bought in 2016 (e.g. there's still a small chance of getting an unit from an old stock manufactured in 2015 even if you buy it nowadays, depending of the store/seller/etc). Taking into consideration that you got your unit in January and also have the issue, it's pretty likely to be from an old stock of units manufactured in 2015. You can check the exact manufacturing date by looking at the sticker present inside the SIM/SD card compartment, mine for example marks 16W04 (aka "manufactured in the fourth week of 2016") and doesn't have the issue, I never experienced a single shutdown, not even when doing the testing procedure to check if the unit was affected by Battery Lock issue.

Hi. Its Dk.
I am the one originaly posted those soltution on xda and gsm arena.
In real, if you get the battery replaced, you will suffer from permanent overheating and slow charging. Also, it takes 3 weeks to replace the battery by freaking noob sony service centers.
It also aplies on the phone manufactured newly
Now i am tryng the new way and its been working 6hours without shutdown and turning off frequency.
Be patient, after organizing, I will post the new way

It can't be the software my phone never turned off not even once,no random reboots, nothing.Only thing is that it heats up when playing some online games but nothing so much after i'm done playing and leave it for cuple of minutes without using it and it cools down to the normal temperature...

I guess you are in good network condition, full of signal strength , even wifi.
Then you wont feel anything from this problem... and the shutoff problem is not only on m5,
almost every sony xperia series. even z5.
and basically, the phone turns off because of supply voltage. its rare to happen on battery as worldwidly.

Not really, everytime i get inside of a store my signal drops and the phone still doesn't reboot or "die".I even tried the test and it passed.

When your signal completely drops, you wont have overheat and shutdown. Because the phone wont even try to get the good signal.
But when you have subtle signal strength, the story changes.
CuZ the phone stays in the idle state for better signal strength.
Im testing with fast dormancy disabling. But not sure yet.

As a person who personally owned a Xperia M and is now owning a Xperia M5 and that also had close contact with Xperia S, Xperia U, Xperia C, Xperia ZL, Xperia E3, Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z3+ I can safely say that what you're claiming here is bullsh*t. There's one operator in my neighborhood that always have very poor signal (never more than one or two bars in network indicator) and those models I mentioned earlier NEVER shut off at those conditions, at maximum they got a little warm during huge data transfers (e.g. downloading/uploading a big file over mobile data) and nothing more.
Particularly with Xperia M5, there's the now known battery lock issue (even Sony officially acknowledged this). If your unit was from an earlier batch (generally manufactured in 2015), it may randomly shut off, not because of supply voltage, but because of RF interference: the battery on those models has poor shielding, which triggers the issue (you can get a free battery replacement just by going into service center, which will completely fix this issue on affected units). However, if your unit was from the new batch, manufactured in 2016, you're totally exempt from this issue. My unit, for example, was manufactured in 2016 and it never shut off randomly, nor it triggered battery lock issue (I can do the official testing procedure thousands of time and it always pass without issues). To be honest, until now I've never encountered any user with a Xperia M5 unit manufactured in 2016 having this issue.
And if it this "shut off due poor signal" issue you're claiming REALLY happens on "almost every Xperia series" why I can't find not only a single complaint when going into the forums of other Xperia devices, here at XDA?

GSM Arena isn't the world either. But since you've mentioned GSM Arena, let's talk about GSM Arena, going into User Opinions about Xperia M5 you can see lot's of posts complaining about random shutdown (the known battery lock issue) but all of them made in 2015 (in other words, users from the first batch, which had the RF interference problem). You can't find a single post from 2016 about battery lock issue. And continuing on GSM Arena, I also visited User Opinions from the phones I mentioned earlier and didn't find anyone complaining about random shutdowns like you've claimed.
So, yes, what you've said before still makes no sense, like I said before, bullsh*t...

Hey mate. Then you think battery lock issue is separated from autoshutting down?
So 2016 manufactured phone has got something different other than battery.
But i think battery gets locked because of autoshutting down. Since my phone does show different battery percentage when autoshutdown happens.
And if 2016 manufactured phones have replaced battery, why would i see somebody still gets the problem after they have replaced their battery?
Its may of 2016 already.
So to finalize it, we can guess few situations.
1. Replacing phone battery only works in certain region. Which means sony hasnt fixed the problem.
Or
2. Its not battery issue. Sony put something else in new manufacturing.
3. Those comments are lying to disturb sony's income.
So its the why i cant trust your opinion that 2016 phones dont have the problem.
Thanks.

This fix work for me, but the problem is the signial, i none.
So i change the battery and is working pretty well, i have two weeks without auto shutdown problem.
PD: My terminal was bring from China.

I upgraded to build 30.2.B.1.21, and I realised that Engineering Mode is gone! Now I can no longer apply the fix.
Shame on Sony for doing this!

CAUTION

I request users to please check the screens closely of their Xperia ZL. Disable the "auto-brightness", keep the brightness to maximum and set the screen time out a little higher say 5 minutes. My Software version is 4.2.2. The screen FLICKERS. I had my previous Xperia ZL exchanged because of this problem and the "new" phone has the same issue. I am currently having a miserable experience with Sony and their service centers here in India. My previous ZL had a motherboard problem and I am not totally sure if the "new" one is really new or the old wine in a new bottle. If things persist like this I'll probably head to the consumer court.
Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm the problem seems to come and go. But my previous ZL had a motherboard issue as confirmed by SONY. As I'm typing this message, there's no flickering at all. I am confused. I want to get things right within the warranty period.

Yes, it is very frustrating. Some just restart their phone and the problem is just gone. Some experience the problem again after a few days. And not many people have this problem. So, we can't tell right now if the problem comes from the new firmware or from the hardware itself.
When I keep brightness full n that brightness slider is on screen it flickers once while rotating the screen.. When I remove that brightness slider n go to main settings menu no flickering occurs also when auto rotate off no flicker...i thing but I never use full brightness n moreover it flickers just once before rotating so I guess nothing much to worry.

Hmm btw another question, the replacement unit I got comes loaded with those wallpapers one usually sees in demo units. Here, the ones in the last few rows. Please check this link :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2152482
And is it true that it's not possible to get a SIM running in demo units? I am able to make and receive calls but, for some reason I'm getting a feeling that the replacement I got is a demo unit. The IMEI number on the box and that of the phone are the same but the box does not contain the charger, earphones and the USB cable.
BTW, what I mean by flickering is CONTINUOUS faint flickering of the screen. On the entire screen. The screen shivers!

Yes only the phone was replaced by them. But, the flickering comes and goes. I am having a horrible time here. Is there any chance of a refund? Worst case, I will ask them to give me an XZ as I have lost all faith in ZL anymore.
Every xperia has a demo installed in the phone..it has a demo folder somewhere inside the internal memory which contains the video demo file I foud out when I was exploring the internal memory n there is some code to activate demo on the phone all phones so no need to worry abt that n regarding only getting phone...its policy that company will exchabge obly things that u have problems with...since you had problem in phone and not in accessories so they sent you only phone nothing much I myself got replacement for faulty led indicator n they replaced only phone...

I have done all possible things from my end. My first ZL had a motherboard problem and after much argument, I got the replacement which isn't any better. They initially wanted to replace the motherboard only but I rejected it. I had asked for a completely new phone.
I usually keep the display at "auto". But now, I have kept it at "max" to check if the flickering occurs. It comes and goes. I last saw the flickering today morning. I will ask for a refund since I cannot keep a faulty product. And, I agree with you about ZL>Z in many aspects. This phone fits my requirements perfectly but what I have been going through over the past few days...a real nightmare.

It's 100% related to the 4.2.2 update, so be comforted it's not in anyway hardware related. This was one of the primary reasons I downgraded back to 4.1.2.

The problem is temporarily solved with a fresh install of the 4.2.2 update and then randomly comes again. I do not know what to do. I am forced to run to the service centers time and again. Is there any way to downgrade to 4.1.2 without losing the warranty?
Yes, you can downgrade back to stock 4.1.2 firmware, many of us have done it (flickering was one of biggest reasons). It will keep your warranty 100% intact since the bootloader isn't touched. Remember, only unlocking your bootloader voids your warranty, and you're not doing that here. You're simply using a 3rd party tool (Flashtool) in place of Sony's PCC/SUS tool to flash a 100% stock Sony ROM.
Just follow these instructions I posted last week: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2342680

[Q] Xperia ZL Only Boot Up While Charging

Hi all!
I have ZL (ZQ in Brazil) and about two days ago it simply shut off while I was taking a picture. The phone stuck in the first screen showing the Free Xperia logo and didn't come up until I plug in the power (from wall or pc usb).
Today I've dowloaded the last oficial firmware from sony and put it up via Flashtool but now, as soon as I take the cable out the phone dies.
I noticed that with the oficial ROM, when it finishes booting up, I receive the message: "com.android.phone has stopped.".
The phone also looses the signal in places it use to have full bars, like my room...
Before that my phone was ok.
*All off above happens with battery full charged!*
Also, I did a snapshot update a few weeks ago and several features went off (I thought it was a stable version since it showed up on cyanogen menu). So I tried to recover the last version via Cyanogem menu. The phone stuck in boot loop. Then I downloaded the version again and installed via CWM.
The thing is that I never notice nothing uncommon since that day. I don't know if it's related.
Does anybody knows if it's software/firmware related or does it have something to do with hardware issues?
Any help is appreciated!

This problem is now spread in most of ZL user and many thread is addressing this issues ass well...
This is probably a battery or battery management issue...you need to send to Sony servise center for replacement or repair...
Or you can do it on your own by changing the battery...no software can solve this problem...
Hope for the best...

Stuck with the same issue here !
Hi all,
Everything was fine until yesterday my phone switched off during a call and never switched on.
Now it switches on only when connected to a wall charger ! Please let me know if someone fixes this issue
I'm also thinking it's hardware related
Since mine is only 6 mo I'll take it to an authorized repair shop tomorrow morning.
I let you guys know if they find something out.
Just back from service center
The Sony service guys could not make it work after a software overhaul.. They are gonna replace the entire chipset to fix the issue ! and in warranty :victory: !! Though Still no idea what caused the problem in the first place!

Exactly the same problem over here buddy...
Here's a little something I wrote to Sony and their Press people.
"I've purchased my Xperia ZL in the United States (online at the end of March 2013 at ATGSM.com) and started using it mid April, 2013. I currently live in Brazil.
After using this phone normally for about 9 months, there was this one day back on the first week of January 2014, where I was taking lots of photos at the world famous "Serra da Capivara National Park" and could just feel the phone heating up like never before. Next thing I know, the screen went blank and phone would not respond when I pressed the power button.
I had to pres the reset button in the back of the phone in order to make it work again. But once I tried to load the camera app, the phone would automatically shut itself off. I thought it could be related to a faulty or corrupted External SD Card, so I went ahead and removed that as well before I attempted to turn my phone back on. After the system loaded up again I tried to oped the camera app and the phone turned itself off again. Any app that would require a significant amount of processing power would cause the phone to freeze and shut off.
So I decided to charge the phone all the way up until 100% (while powered off). When it reached 100% I turned it back on and used it normally (while it was still plugged to the wall charger), so I thought... Great, the phone is "OK again"! Then I went ahead and unplugged the phone off the charger, expecting it to function normally... In just a matter of minutes, with just a little bit of usage (checking emails or browsing the web) the phone simply shuts itself off on its own, yet again. I tried to turn the phone back on again and just as before, I was greeted by the Sony logo and - without any warnings or alerts - the screen simply goes blank again and that's it. This is all it does on the battery.
I've searched online for a solution for this problem and I got nowhere. My phone is all stock, bootloader locked, not rooted. I've formatted and updated it with the latest Firmware (10.4.B.0.569) a couple of times using Sony's Update Service application for Windows to no avail. Nothing seems to fix this battery/shut down on its own problem. There's tons of other Sony users complaining about similar issues with their Xperias. Just look up "xperia zl shuts off" on Google and you'll see what I mean.
My phone is one big dud...
So there you have it - one big useless US$650 piece of hardware. That only functions normally when it's plugged into a wall charger or your average computer USB port.
Not much of a "mobile" phone if you ask me.
I'm extremely unhappy with Sony's hardware and their inflexible technical support.
I've purchased this device in the United States and they can only grant me tech support under my 1 year manufacturer's warranty if I ship it over to their facility in Texas for repairs. That's no big deal for me. The one big problem is: They want me to have a US shipping address so they can ship if over to that address after they finish repairing/replacing/refurbishing my phone. And I've got a big problem with that.
I do not live in the United States. How am I supposed to pick my phone up over there?
After doing some digging through my phone's IMEI, Sony's tech support representatives brought to my attention that my device is a "Grey Market" phone (meant to be used in Singapore?) and that they don't even know how long it will take for them to service my phone. According to their supervisor, it could take anywhere from 1 month up to 4 months, maybe even more for them to repair and send it back to me.
See what I'm going through here?!?!?!
What good is it for a company as big as Sony to print and place a cute little warranty pamphlet inside the box of your brand new phone, containing the numbers of several different technical support worldwide if the 1 year warranty is not going to be covered in all of those different countries??????????????
I took the initiative to call Sony's specialized Xperia Mobile support telephone number from that pamphlet that came with my phone (not a free call, by the way) here in Brazil and shared with them my frustration regarding my Xperia ZL. They were sympathetic with me, and readily provided me with 3 different authorized service centers near my home, with their respective addresses and telephone numbers.
I managed to reach a couple of those authorized repair centers here in Brazil (over the phone) only to find out that they DO NOT have any of these Xperia ZL / ZQ batteries in stock. They also mentioned that several other customers called them and shared their bad experiences with their Xperia ZQ's battery life (defective batteries) and were greeted the same way: "I'm sorry, we can't help you. We do not carry that replacement battery in stock. We have already placed the order for those with Sony, but there's no estimate of when or even if these will ever arrive in our store anytime soon... I'm sorry about that..."
Yeah, I'm sorry about that too Sony.
I'm really sorry I bought a Sony smartphone.
I wish I could go back in time and buy a Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition instead.
But it's too late... I've already spent 650 bucks on your crappy smartphone, Sony.
Looking back, I can tell you that I've had problems with lots of other computer components that I've purchased in the States, from several different manufacturers. And I've RMA'd lots of these defective memory modules (RAM), defective SD Cards, etc. I've shipped it from Brazil straight to them in the States and I less than 1 month after they received my defective products, they went ahead and shipped a replacement back to me (in Brazil) FREE OF CHARGE! Most importantly, with NO HASSLE! That's right, none of these companies refused to ship it back to me at my Brazilian address like Sony is doing to me at this time.
This is the worst customer support from such a big and Global company that I've ever dealt with in my entire life.
Shame on you Sony!
After this horrible experience, here's a few things that I CAN and WILL DO for sure:
- I will NEVER buy another Sony device (camera, smartphone or laptop) ever again.
- I will never recommend a Sony product to any of my friends and family.
- I will never buy another phone with a built in, internal battery.
Sony has been continuously releasing and flooding the market with new phones that doesn't add a whole lot of improvements over their previous gen devices (ZR - ZL - Z1 - Z1 Ultra - Z1S and so on). All they do is depreciate the value of what they have already released just a few months for just a little more, sometimes even less money than what you paid for your current "last gen" Sony phone just 2 or 3 months ago.
The Xperia ZL was released with last gen Snapdragon S4 Pro and in just a couple of months after I purchased my ZL they released a new, better spec'd smartphone, the Xperia Z1. And now, Sony has just announced the Xperia Z1S...
I understand that in today's mobile market / segment it's "the norm" to have this ever evolving and improving trend of new technology on mobile devices, but this seems to be getting kind of out of hand. You buy something today for US$650, sometimes even more depending on where on earth you live, only to see it become seemingly obsolete in just a matter of 3 months.
Sighs...
I'm through with Sony."
Solved (by myself)
As I said before, I lost my warranty the moment I unlocked my bootloader and they were charging me almost the price for a new phone.
The only place I found the batery was on ebay.it and took more than one month to arrive.
As you all suspected, changing the battery solve the problem.
The only problem is that now my camera doesn't work...

WHOA! I didn't know there was a re-lock feature...
Well, too late now...
Thanks anyway. I hope it helps if someone else have the same problem!
I am going through the same excruciating process with my girlfriend's Xperia ZL right now. This phone has not been rooted and just kept running the official updates from Sony. I just updated it to their official version of 4.4.2 and am having the exact same issues. The phone crashes, freezes and won't stay on and can't be kept powered on unless it is kept plugged into the wall or computer USB. Just got off the phone with a higher-level manager at Sony who was "sorry" and "couldn't do anything" unless I pay for the repairs myself. They were actually blaming Google for releasing a "bad" update which he said was "affecting ALL android phones". That's a pretty bold statement- especially knowing that's false, reading all the threads online about this issue with Sony devices specifically. This was until he found out that they screwed up and realized the phone was still under warranty, expiring TODAY. After an hour of back-and-forth, I got him to agree to paying for shipping and fixing the phone as if it were under warranty status still.
I will never buy a Sony piece of hardware again and will highly discourage and demote their hardware to anyone.

[Q] Xperia ZL C6502 keeps restarting

My xperia ZL keeps shutting down at random times, and when I try turning it on it usually turns off again at the Sony logo, or it turns on only to shutdown again.
BUT it works perfectly fine with the charger plugged in, and something I have noticed is that the charging light when the phone is turned off is yellowish now instead of purely orange like it usually is,
Plus i noticed that the phone without the charger runs fine for awhile, but as soon as I turn the camera on it shutsdown which it doesnt with the charger on.
What is the problem here?
Defect battery. Its a known issue on zl. You need to send it to a sony service center. Good luck.

Try holding down the reset button near the sdcard for a moment, this should fix the issue its not starting on charger.

Exactly the same problem over here buddy...
Here's a little letter I've written to Sony Support and their Press people:
"I've purchased my Xperia ZL in the United States (online at the end of March 2013 at ATGSM.com) and started using it mid April, 2013. I currently live in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Same problem here; already 2 days waiting for my Sony smartphone support Account email activation and still waiting ( done it twice from hotmail and gmail ).
A short-time solution is to open the device, disconnect battery for some minutes and build it up all again---> the phone will work form some days/weeks until it start crapping again...really a shame product for Sony...whould expect more from such an expensive product from one of the most expensive trademarks.
Hope I get some more luck from support.

Which battery do I need to fix the shutdown bug?

Ok, so I have an E5653 series from Taiwan. Unfortunately, I do not live in Taiwan, so I cannot take it to a support center in person. I've also spent 5-6 emails with Sony Taiwan telling them about the issue, not only do they not accept phones from overseas (because of the shipping back or something???), but are just giving terrible responses and fail to admit my issue is hardware (even according to the Xperia_M5_E56_Battery_Lock_Test_in_CS_Repair_Center.pdf) and keep telling me to update&repair my phone with Xperia Companion (WHEN IT IS UPDATED!).
So, I figured I'd take a shot and try to fix the issue myself. As many of you know about the 4G shutdown fix where the only resolution is plugging it into the charger, and I've seen the fix where you can uncheck a few bands in the BandMode settings, but I currently live in the middle of nowhere... unchecking the suggested ones leave me completely without service. So I can only use my phone with WiFi/Mobile Data off/Airplane Mode (y'know the rest).
I've contacted Sony from other region and they said they don't sell parts for their phones... so... what?????
I was looking at this listing here, is this the battery I need? I saw something on the M5 forums here about Rev03 or something? No idea...
If not, anyone know where I can get a replacement battery? I saw this video and it seems like I'd be able to replace the battery by myself, just need the battery in the first place.
Any other suggestions?
Another question: I was on 5.1 rooted and moved apps to SD card, eventually they started disappearing and the only way to find em again was opening Play Store and hitting open, or moving them back to storage... any idea about that?

The different Revision no's are where they have usually fixed any issues with the production process or had hardware problems and swapped to the latest hardware releases. So if you have a Rev1 device it could be possible to get more defects until the problems get ironed out(white z5c anyone). One reason I always wait at least a month or two from device release date, unfortunately Sony aren't really doing anything wrong regarding the warranty I thought it was well known that if you get a Xperia device from one country to use in another that's the gamble you take on it working perfectly and not needing the warranty.

Yeah, I did get this phone very early, so I'm sure without a doubt it's Rev1, I'm just asking to identify if there's any place I can buy the latest rev battery? There's a .3 in the end of the number in the ebay link I posted, but I don't know if that's how it's identified. Or if someone knew of a place to get M5 batteries online.

Search on how to disable the baseband to mitigate the shutdown issue. This is because of the signal, the phone needs to push a little more juice to get more signal from weak areas.

Unfortunately already tried that, even tried messing around with what bands to disable.
(Just the CLR bands, all bands except PCS&DCS, etc) It either leaves me without signal, or still shuts down my phone. If I leave on all bands and select edge as well.

Another question: I was on 5.1 rooted and moved apps to SD card, eventually they started disappearing and the only way to find em again was opening Play Store and hitting open, or moving them back to storage... any idea about that?

that's what changed with this problem ...

WiFi Issue

Well i just got a brand new Moto Z2 Force and as I was setting up, i noticed the WiFi connection stopped working from time to time. I thought it was mi WiFi network, but issue was persistent on any WiFi network. I bought it on December 30, 2017
What I have done so far:
- Restore to its factory settings (didn't solve the problem)
- Update software 7.1 (didn't solve the problem)
- I took it to the carrier I bought it from, (They kept it for 12 hours to monitor its issue) (didn't solve the problem)
They told me, since its not a carrier issue, I should contact Motorola directly.
- I called Motorola support, and they told me that the phone needs to be sent to be repaired. Since its a common issue regarding WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, what really pissed me off, was the word "repair", i explained that, why I should get a repaired/refurbished phone, since i pay full for a new phone and they explained that, thats how Motorola respect their "warranties". Repairing a defective device.
Since I live in Mexico, warranties here are a big pain in the ...
I know carriers in the US, have a 15 or 30 day, hassel-free return policy. But in Mexico, once you take it out of the box, its your problem.
Im pretty annoyed since I have the Moto Z Play and this phone works perfectly, thats why I went for the newer Motorola. Since I know how Motorola respects their warranty im never buying a Motorola again.
UPDATE
After going back and forth, the carrier decided that was a DOA phone and gave me a brand new one. I'm been using it for a week now and no issue whatsover.
Just some bluetooth disconnections from time to time, but i can live with that hoping for a software update fix.
Hi there!, calm down, i'm here to save you, but first off, i'm form Mexico too, and yeah, thw warranty here is some kinda tricky, but with Telcel you got the option between 30 days after the purchase to get a new one. But whatever, that time passed already.
Ok, first, tell me if you got the next issues:
Sudden disconnections
Horribly and stupid process to connect after a "breakdown" happens.
When you were connected (Luckiest thing ever), did you noticed that sometimes the speed goes like ZERO kb/s, it tooks like years to load an HD video form youtube?
If your phone shows all these sympthoms, welcome to hell, and i got some good news for you, the problem is not 100% the phone, for some reason, this problem starts when you update all the stuff form Play Store. So the phone is "physically" OK.
If you want further assistance you can send me a PM with your phone number, i'll be in touch shortly.
I'm glad to help you.
He’s not the only one with this problem. Would love to know your miracle solution!
I also have the same problem but it works PERFECTLY with 5 GHz Wi-Fi AC. Take a new wifi router

OT - I'm sorry, but this smacks of a scam. You don't need a phone number for anything, and if you have a fix, post it for others to use. What could be so secret as to warrant a PM.
I have had WiFi drops / performance issues with other devices with the same chipset, and it was fixed splitting the 5 and 2.4 into separate WiFi connections.

Hi there, first off, you have to turn on the phone in Secure mode - Long press "shut down" and then accept to turn on the Phone in secure mode.
Then, you have to test the wifi functions in this mode, if everything works fine, the problem it's not something about the HW of the Moto Z2 Force, but the problem it's a process which is causing this wifi disconnections, slow wifi etc..
Now you have to identify which process i scausing this, if you ask me, i've found that Google Play Services i scausing the problems, so i've tried many different versions and now it's working great, no wifi disconnections, FULL speed, and no other problems.
Let me know if i can help you out with more information, sometimes it's hard to write through a phone jaja.

Wanting to file class action lawsuit
Well it's as plain as I can make it; after attempting to contact support for help with my Z2 Force's WiFi issues; which go figure I find out is a known issue since DAY 1. They won't fix it because the warranty ended 11/18/2018. I explained I found over 17 pages on just Lenovo's website of issues and Motorola and Lenovo did nothing. They still won't do anything they want 150$ to look at it and then they may give me a replacement z2 force. I've had enough I am starting the process of a class action lawsuit against Motorola; and Lenovo and I wanted others to reach out to me. If you've had issues please contact me. Thanks
Rob
My s z2force (1789 05) sometimes disconnects the network (including wifi). When playing games, it is usually used. I feel that this is not a big problem. I was on a lg v30. This problem is more serious.
