All phones have the radio. Much like the Verizon M8 you installed a radio app and it worked until recently when they removed the files to make it work. I will wait for the phone.

for HTC 10. The same site lists "Stereo FM radio, RDS" for HTC One, M7.

HTC M8 for Verizon. Look that one up and it says... No... Then going to their subsection here and you'll see that it did have one until recent update where it was finally removed. Just like the Nexus 4 which does have LTE too but of course the spec sheets said it didn't either. So I won't count it out until someone tries.

If you see the screenshots here from llabtoofer (Who does some credible leaks) it seems it does have FM. You can see the app and icon in one of the pics ..
here is the tweet from him that came before the Release of HTC 10. Seems we have to wait until some devs get their hands on HTC 10, I would like to ask OP to update the first post..

The screenshots are from sense8 running on a different device. They are not running on a 10. You can tell by the presence of on-screen buttons. Plus he even confirmed its not running on a 10 in those pictures:

Word is the 10 does not support FM radio nor does it come pre-loaded with that app.

I have gotten mixed results. I say everyone wait it out until the device comes in. I have a feeling it is supported but you have to download an app to make it work. If it doesn't honestly doesn't bother me much. I my state 9/10 times is repeat music. You can see the same songs every 40 minutes and often can switch to a different channel and hear the same song. I wouldn't be losing much lol

When I updated my s-off M8 to Marshmallow, I lost the FM radio function. I was able to use Nextradio before. One of the devs here had a solution via twrp. I'm able to use the radio app again.
I'm guessing that the POSSIBILITY might be there with the equipment, but will be cut off by software. Verizon wants you to use data via streaming, so that they can make money.

I talked with customer service about the lack of an fm app on recent screenshots. I asked if the 10 supported an fm radio if I downloaded an app like Nextradio. They said yes. I assume with HTC removing their apps in favor of using more versatile app that we can download. I hope they are correct. I use my fm radio on all my phones. Many sports broadcast only broadcast over the air so I need an fm radio to listen. Also a local station I listen to broadcast OTA only also. We shall see.

You have to consider this as well. T-Mobile and AT&T are starting to add FM radio support. The S7 and Edge for example you download for example next radio it works(T-Mobile on a later update). If HTC going to add support for those devices and they are supposed to be the same as the unlocked version why would they take out the code? Doesn't it seem pointless to do that?
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

I've got the system dump extracted, would there anywhere I can look which would indicate FM radio support?
There doesn't appear to be any bundled app, but if it's turned on in a config somewhere I can look?

My guess would be good to Verizon HTC M8 forum and download the FM radio package and look at what's there. It probably the same or a slight variation with the 10.
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

All I can find for the M8 are the radio APKs.
There is no FM apk in the 10's system image. That doesn't mean it won't work with either the M8 app, or a 3rd party app. It depends if the hardware and any applicable libs are present.
I had a quick look through the libs and build.prop and can't see anything about fm, but then I don't know exactly what I'd be looking for, just hoping to get lucky...

[Q] Fm Transmitter?

Hello, I was wondering if the S3 comes with a Fm Transmitter built-in. I have read on one site that it does. And if so is there any way to make use of that functionality?
We believe it comes with an FM radio and it could be able recieve and transmit, there is another thread somewhere about that, but last u checked, the were no libraries for it, no drivers, and some o other issues. Search for FM radio app the developer Mike, is the one whose hunting down the possibility of getting a fix

Alright thank you. I tried searching for an app on the market but none of them work. I do recall seeing a thread about it somewhere but it seemed to be purely for development purposes. Oh well, I'll stick to my crappy FM transmitter from Walmart for now.

I know that once installed the app from mike is called "Spirit Radio", but I have not found a way to get the stock version of the Galaxy S3 to run it. Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents. According to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059296 though some recent CM9 builds were working with his app after settings changes. I just have yet to take the plunge on my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 after the latest OTA (LG8) solved some of the issues I was having with Smart Stay not being too "Smart" and with S-Voice not recognizing commands. I am thinking about doing it just so I can have FM radio on my phone again (I got spoiled by an HTC EVO 4G before picking up this new phone).

There was a misconception going around for a tiny bit that it was not included. Mike found that it was installed with some sort of Qualcomm based chip, but for whatever reason the US versions took it out of their stock ROMs. The work around is to get apparently either an AOKP ROM or CM9 based ROM and make a few tweaks to his App. The chipset is there, Samsung just is not supporting the US version's FM radio (possibly due to a request from US based carriers as is also rumored but that is unlikely since the new HTC phone came out with the FM radio chipset AND software to run it on the stock ROM).
And i just bought a fm transmitter =(

I guess there is an outside chance of that, but wouldn't that have affected the HTC device as well then? They both released at basically the same time one with and one without FM capability built into the software only.

I don't think the US hardware is capable of FM. There is nothing in the hardware in US that can do it. They took it out to save $2.

FM Radio .apk

I haven't heard anything about the FM radio for the Sprint version. I know it is disabled for US versions, but is included with the international version. Is there a difference in LTE chipset?
I would like to get this feature working if possible.
Here is the .apk for the FM radio for international variants. (fails to install though)
bump...could this work?
Would love this as well.

Bump. This would be a nice feature
Sent from my Galaxy Note 2
I'm also interested in this. Can anyone confirm that the FM radio is there in hardware on the Sprint/other US versions? If so, it is just a matter of software, right?
bump.
Just tried to install that file and it wouldnt finish. It'd stop and give an error "Application not installed".
Dont think the radio is there.
I pushed it to system/app and set the permissions to rw-r-r. After reboot I get the icon but it just fc. I'll look a little more into it later but probably still won't work anyway even if I can get it to not fc.

na7q is correct when he says "US versions rarely have FM radios." See the old compatibility list for my FM app: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1059296&page=480
As to "there is no FM radio.", I imagine that remains to be proven one way or another.
I can give more information if someone, preferably with SU/root, ran my app here and sent me a debug log: http://d-h.st/rky
Use Menu-> Test-> Email-> Logs and after 20 seconds or so, press Send. Or if no email get /sdcard/sprt_debug.txt .
At a minimum, my guess is that a stock ROM can't support FM; rooted or with custom kernel, who knows yet...

No sign of the needed FM driver.
In theory it's possible the FM si4705 chip is there, but would need a custom kernel to activate. But I doubt it's even there; it's not there on any other high end Samsungs sold in the US.
I'd recommend writing your politicians, but that's likely a waste of time and they ignore the NABs pleas to compel FM capability.

I have gave this some further testing. I can now confirm that the watch and app work with CM10.2 (Although it is a bit flaky). I have also tested with Beanstalk 4.4.2 which is so far working a lot better but the app does still drop the connection.
If you are comfortable flashing custom roms and don't mind losing HTC Sense, then give them a try. Just remember to backup your current rom and data, read ALL the instructions and be sure you know what you are doing first.
Going to give the latest nightly CM11.0 a test in about 5 mins too, so i will post findings here (mainly if it works or not). To be honest, i don't think I'm going to keep using a custom rom installed just for the sake of a watch. I am wondering though, what is so different in these roms that allow it work? If anyone knows, i wonder if a patched 4.2.2 rom could be created and if the app told to ignore the SDK version.
Bluetooth Low Energy thats the difference. For me its okay to use custom rom. But i want a stable conection and o am thinking to buy it or not for hox

Looks that way I'm afraid. So far, the most stable connection has been with Beanstalk ROM. I have just installed the latest CM11.0 nightly and again, app installs, connects to watch but for how long remains to be seen.
Wish the cookoo devs would just post the first version of the app they had working on the HOX to here. Maybe a solution could be figured out with the clever devs that are on XDA.
Pretty annoyed about it myself as when i had got the watch, it clearly stated their first version of the app works on the HOX and future releases would too. Can't even send the bugger back.
Update: CM11.0 also seems to be holding a fairly stable connection so far. Alerts seem to be working fine too.

So...what exactly is the problem?
I have a sprint G2, and while i havent gotten it to work in a store for Tap and Pay, I have used it to NFC beam files between phones, though I did notice that it takes a good bit of time to recognize and initiate the NFC connection, but it does work...
Whatever the issue, I hope it gets sorted soon, since one of the reasons I finally upgraded from my EvoLTE was to be able to continue using Tap and Pay and....I still can't

From what I understand, all the other variants use the same chip. So all the ROMs include the needed code for that chip. Most Devs aren't going to write a separate set up for just one version of the phone (sprint). Although I believe dr87 was working on a flashable zip file for nfc.

Does this exist yet? Or has anyone found a workaround on cm11?
Bump
There is a post over in the NFC hacking forums regarding this. The Sprint variant uses NXP whereas the other variants use broadcom. Currently, AOSP ROMs (4.4.x) on devices with NXP do not support Tap and pay functionality with Google wallet. There is quite a team working on a solution. As for now, if you want tap and pay, unfortunately, you have to stick with stock. (This is the only reason I haven't gone AOSP with my LS980)
Has there been any progress with getting NFC working on any ROMs?
Has anyone tried this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-g2/help/cm11-nfc-fixer-t2841555
