Is anyone aware if double tap to wake will be present on the HTC 10? - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

Albeit small, it was one of my favorite and most frequently used features of the M8.

I believe so. But with the finger print scanner, you just have to place your finger on the scanner while the screen is off and it'll unlock the phone.

Yes AA has a video about the gesture controls. They did complain about using them while having to use the FP scanner to unlock made it feel disjointed(in their words)

[Q] "TAP" to unlock app or mod

I used to have an app on an iPhone that allowed you to just TAP anywhere on the lock screen to unlock rather than having to slide the slider bar.
Looking for something similar for this device. I want to be able to tap ANYWHERE on the lockscreen to unlock it.
Widgetlocker allows a "TAP" on a single very small spot on the lockscreen but not "anywhere" to unlock. Close, but doesn't quite get the prize.
Also, is there a way to have the lockscreen stay on longer then it does?
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Try "tap tap app". It uses your proximity sensors, you can just swipe your fingers over the sensors. It's not the same as using the lockscreen but similar

I know CM ROM has that feature build in, but it's not yet available for our phones, but DEV has started on CM so it'll just be a matter of time

[Q] Home screen rotation without root?

Hi,
Just picked up a One X (AT&T) for my wife the other day. I was under the impression that the home screen in Sense 4.0 was able to rotate but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I've seen that there are tweak utilities that can unlock this setting, but they do more than just this one tweak and require root access or a custom ROM. I'm not interested in hacking her phone to that degree.
Any hope for accomplishing this on a bone stock ROM?
Thanks,
-Brett.
Ultimate Rotation Control is able to do that, it is unfortunately paid. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate

That looks promising! They have a 7 day trial. We'll check it out and gladly drop the $3 if it works as advertised.
Thanks!

The other one has a forced auto mode which is really cool. Worth $3 to me, but maybe not to others.

eXperience pro for nexus 4

Has anyone checked out this app?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...edium=organic&utm_term=experience+pro+android
Its called eXperience pro and it's supposed to give stock users a lot of customization that can only be achieved by flashing another kernel.

Glad to see this app getting some attention. Its seriously good, means that you can over clock phone regardless of kernel.
Personally, my favourite is the music controls tweak, the only reason I would have wanted to move away from stock

So, does the touch wake works good? Its only touch not swipe right? What if it's in your pockets, it doesn't wake?

Touchwake on calls
Potential buyer here just for the touchwake feature, quick question for anyone that uses it.
Does it work when on a call (speakerphone or bluetooth)? My issue is that I use the Power button to end call feature and when I am on speakerphone or bluetooth if the screen goes to sleep I can no longer access my phone.
The touch wake module seems to give me massive battery drain by holding a wake lock, irrespective of whether I have wake lock on. Just a warning.

I actually bought it to test it out. It does wake the screen when on a call (YAY!) but it also hangs up the call as if I pressed the power button anyway (NAY )
Oh well.

[Q] Always on voice feature like Moto X?

I have to be honest, I am fairly jealous of the Moto X's always on voice feature. Any news about a port to the One...or any recommendations on third party software that can do this? Thanks.
You can somewhat do it with tasker

This is my fear.
On this topic, under Google Now there is a setting called Hotword Detection. From the description is sounds like what the MotoX does, listening all the time for a voice command. What does this setting actually do?

Exactly. The MotoX has a special low power chip dedicated to this sleep-mode 'listening.' I doubt we will get a similar solution that doesn't kill the battery.

Considering its a separate chip its a hardware issues... Plus the main reason that the notification system works the way it does is because amoled screens can light up only a small portion of the screen thus not killing the battery life. I agree the feature rocks. I thought about a moto x. Specs are meaningless if the software works well. Everybody I've talked to about one loves it. Great phone not to be overlooked. I'd rather own one of those than an s4 any day.

When you open Google Now, you can simply say "Google" to initiate voice search. Saves you an additional button press.

kill your battery by never letting your phone sleep. Also it opens google now by saying google. Or you can long press the home button/ slide up from the home button (depending on your settings) to open it.
I agree the moto x has some cool features, but I'm disappointed moto went to plastic and away from the kevlar.

Si that is the same feature as the Moto X, just without the chip? I am confused, because with it on my phone does nothing when I say Google, no matter where I am.

Its only setup to work when 'Google Now' is open and running. This can be achieved in some odd fashion by allowing the phone to turn the screen off, but not "sleep." This will bring all types of destruction and ruination to your battery life and really isn't worth it. Its a nice feature, but something, for most people, would be more a gimmick. I did almost grab an X instead of the One, but no Moto Maker, and the old hardware put me off.

Wake Gestures Work Sometimes

Anyone experiencing poor performance from the double-tap to wake and other wake gestures? Thanks.
I haven't been able to get voice dial to work from say one. Sliding down while the phone is sleep just turns on the screen. Sometimes voice dilaer will show up but that's every 6 or 7 tries. Sometimes the mic will flash and then disappear.
Anyone else??
The key to the others is movement. Without enough movement of the phone prior to double tap it will not wake. Don't know if that's your issue.

Correct. I've also noticed if you move the phone while it's laying down, the gestures still work.
I was trying to post about this in a dev form for a rom I was using I had experienced it to be mostly successful. Except when I use a AOSP lock screen in my rom which I am using. (Both Viper and Insert Coin....not sure about GPE). But with AOSP Lockscreen gestures are seemingly not working at all. Am I doing something wrong or has this not been solved yet?
Works all the time for me
