Quickcharge 3 car charger recommendations? - HTC 10 Accessories

I need a buy a new car charger anyway so I want to get the most capable one for the HTC 10. I suspect that would include the quickcharge 3.0 spec and a USB-C port?
Will there be any benefit to QC3 over USB-C compared to QC2 and a USB-A to USB-C cable?
I've looked on Amazon but I don't see anything that appears to fit the bill. Are there any other phones out now that have both QC3 and USB-C that we can gain experience from? I know the Nexus 5x and 6p has USB-C, but they don't have QC3, right?

Look for Tronsmart chargers (QuickCharge3.0) over aliexpress, might take a few weeks to deliver but the product is nice and cheap.
Even better if available over ebay/amazon.

I've just ordered this one from Amazon in readiness.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Charger-Vin...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01
Plus 3 of these USB cables.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Release-Ank...&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

Anker PowerDrive+ 1 looks quite good.

Just be sure to get the USB-C cables that are really up to the spec, or you could burn up your new phone. See here for tested products:

Thanks guys, really nice choices here. I'm looking for a car charger myself.

I looked at that one but it appears to only have USB-A connections. I'm under the impression that USB-C to USB-C will give better charging results?

This one on Amazon seems to fit your suggestion. $20 on Amazon Prime seems like a decent deal.
http://www.amazon.com/Charger-Tronsmart-Quick-Charge-Technology/dp/B018K7LHBU
EDIT: In fact, it's an even better deal at $11 with discount code "USBCCHAR". I just ordered one.

I don't think you'll notice much difference.
HTC deliveres also an USB A to C cable with the 10.
There is a maximum of charging speed and I think you can get that also with an USB A to C.

That would be the cheapest thing that you can get delivered quickly; Aukey is another economical option that you can check.
Aliexpress ones sell for cheaper usually (or even half the cost during sale) but those take alot of time to deliver (it being shipped from China via standard international shipping).

I found this useful https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...JsQaXK1dl8I91V4-eP_sfNVNzbA/htmlview?sle=true

I would choose Anker on Amazon if I want to buy a QC 3.0.

I love tronsmart products because it has lots of models:http://www.tronsmart.com/products/quick-charge-3-0-car-chargers From 1 port to 3 ports, USB A port to Type-C port.

Easiest way would be to take a look at the Qualcomm QC certified list. It's a great starting point.
Also the list has direct links to product pages which is certainly a nice touch.
https://www.qualcomm.com/documents/quick-charge-device-list
Because if it's certified "by Qualcomm" (UL really), I'd say it's up to snuff..
Of course the list isn't updated instantly but rather monthly, so when new devices and accessories (or power controllers) roll out, and they pass the certification process, they'll be added there eventually.

I follow
https://plus.google.com/+BensonLeung/posts
for his tested products and I think everyone will be fine.
Qualcomm has a list as well
https://www.qualcomm.com/documents/q...ge-device-list

I applied to review a free Choetech QC 3.0 car charger, hope they can contact me soon.

I'd be careful with these..
"Dodocool" doesn't have any accessories listed in Qualcomm's certified accessories list. (PDF)
No QC3.0 accessory OR QC2.0 accessory.
Their products do seem OK but I'm personally not gonna trust any manufacturer for example being my QC3.0 charger unless they have something on that list, at least some product that shows they have actually made something that complied with Qualcomm's standard, especially since that list isn't updated daily rather monthly.
P.S. That's a wall charger and this thread is about car chargers and besides, the 10 ships with a QC3.0 wall charger.
Edit: Now I actually looked at the Dodocool QC3.0 wall charger reviews, this one has pictures and NO UL LOGO hence it's not UL listed hence it's not certified.
I would avoid it. Might be perfectly fine and fully compliant OR it could kill your dog and burn your house down etcetera.

where can i buy original/high quality USB cables?

so I baught a few USB cables from eBay and dealextreme and they charge the phone super slow.

where do i get GOOD cables?
A few years ago I bought a couple of blackberry OEM cables on Amazon, and ever since, those have been my favorite ones because they are really nice high quality cables. Recently, I was looking to buy some more, and I bought a pack of 5 for $10 from the ebay listing below. I can vouch that they are the same genuine blackberry cables I've received in the past.

I don't think its the USB that slows down the charging. It's the charger? I bought plenty of cheap USB and all charge at same speeds using the stock wall charger..

Yes, I would look for genuine OEM cables from a name brand. However, with ebay or other sites that have 3rd party sellers, they will often say OEM when in fact they are knock offs. It is more common with chargers than cables. I felt comfortable with that ebay listing because it looked like an actual picture of the product and not a stock image. Also, I already owned a couple, so I knew what they looked like with the blackberry logo on the end.
USB cables plays a big part. out of my 10 USB cables that i own only 2 can manage to transfer 1A.

I just posted a thread about this yesterday.

It's also got a $10 off $30 deal as well. Make sure to choose the Premium Micro USB cable, as the normal one is not guaranteed to charge quickly.

Yeah I purchased initially because I wanted a flat cable. These really are tangle free and they are tough as nails. I bunch them up, roll them up, tug/pull etc and have yet to have one fall apart or crap out functionally.
Biggest problem I have with it is my coworkers stealing it from my desk!

sorry, I do not know how to test that...?
I am using it with these chargers:
Anker® 18W/3.6A Dual-Port USB Wall Charger / Portable Travel Charge... http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B8L36A6/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_SVf1sb1DQ2N3K

It definitely charges substantially faster than the OEM wall charger for my Nexus 5. That may be the charger or cable or both.
Would be happy to test the mA charge rate but I assume I would need an ammeter which I do not have.

If you could test that would be great! I just ordered a bunch of high quality full speed micro USB cables from monoprice that I linked above, but I wouldn't mind having some more that were a little more fun and colorful. It's always nice to change things up every now and again.
You don't need a multimeter or anything.
Just get CurrentWidget off of the play store (it's free) and add a widget to your homescreen. Set the update interval to 1 second, and watch for the highest number to repeat multiple times (it will always fluctuate up and down, but the highest number will keep popping up) that's your max. It may take a few minutes to get to the top speed, but you'll know when the same number range keeps showing.
It's probably not 100% accurate, but it gives a good ballpark number. The stock LG charger/cable charges at ~1050mA. If the flat cables allow full speed charging, you should be able to match that.

Installed CurrentWidget and ran the tests - very sad to see these fosmon cables that I love so much are limiting my rate of charge.
I tested the Anker wall charger with both the 3ft and 6ft fosmon cables at work and got a max value of 480mA. At home I got a max value of 518mA
I tested the Anker car charger with both cables and was floating around 350mA
When I got home I compared (using the same outlet) the Anker wall charger versus a Blackberry Charger I have (which is the fastest charger I own) and found a distinct difference. As stated before the Anker wall charger with both lengths of fosmon cable maxed at 518mA. The blackberry charger maxed at 1589mA.
FWIW, here is the blackberry charger I used (no, the cable is not detachable from the wall adapter)

Sorry to hear about the cables, I was going to grab a few if your results were different. And sorry about making you sad bud... I guess you can see that it's not just a high amp adapter/charger that is important, but the USB cable has to support high charge rate as well.
Your Anker wall/car chargers are very good though, if you used different cables (or even the stock Nexus 5 cable), the charge rate would be faster.
I've heard of the Blackberry charger being very good, but to get it in Canada (amazon.com won't ship it here) I have to use amazon.ca and they charge $20+ for it... Which is so stupid considering Blackberry is a Canadian company located in Ontario... You'd think it'd be a bit cheaper in the motherland.
But it's not really necessary for me anyway, I'm making an attempt to have all of my chargers as Qi chargers. I have plenty of 2A adapters, I just wanted really good USB cables to make sure my Qi chargers are getting fully juiced so they can provide the full 1A output.

No worries - if anything I thank you for showing me how to test it. I had read a review on these fosmon cables saying they were fast current but never went so far as to test (because I thought I needed an ammeter to do it).
These cables still have their use, but I will be snagging a few of those ones linked on monoprice for my bedside, work and car chargers.
I am going to look more at fosmon too (maybe reach out with an email) and see if they offer or plan to offer a flat micro USB with more amperage.
Side note: which Qi charger are you using? Specifically using well with those cables from monoprice.

The Best Quick Charge 3.0 Single Port Wall Charger | Anker vs Aukey vs Tronsmart

hi guys
i want to buy a Single Port Wall Charger
which one has a better built quality from your experience ?
1- AUKEY PA-T9 18W USB Wall Charger Compatible with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0
Amazon
2-Tronsmart WC1T 18W Quick Charge 3.0 USB Wall Charger
Amazon
3-Anker PowerPort+ 1 Quick Charge 3.0 18W USB Wall Charger
Amazon
from the pictures(i think) it seems aukey has a better board quality than anker but i could'nt find any pictures of Tronsmart WC1T board
base price for both anker and aukey is about 40$ and for tronsmart is 25$ so maybe those two have a better build quality
but some reviews about other tronsmart products says that chargers from this company have a better quality in material (housing plastic) than aukey or other
which one do you prefer?
I think Tronsmart is better.
I was thinking about buying a Qualcomm QuickCharger and researched it a lot. I chose the Tronsmart charger over the Anker Powerport singleport wall charger.
Pro's:
1. Comes with a USB cable (24 AWG) with a length of 6 ft. (I wanted a long USB cable with good charging rates! For Quickcharging, a good cable is a must along with the QuickCharge adapter)
2. It comes with an Indian type plug (I am from India, and didnt wana buy a converter for USA to India conversion)
3. footprint is similar to Anker
Cons :
1. No LED light (In Anker, blue light normally; green when in 9V/12V. However, once you have established that your device supports Quickcharge, the colour change has no significance)
Good luck. Also let me know which one you bought.
any other thoughts?
which one do you think has a better build and board quality?
They are all GOOD, and possibly made in the same place in China. Not familiar with Transmart, but I have reviewed a ton of Anker and Aukey, and Choetech products. They all good because they have a better quality control and offer an excellent support and extended warranty. To differentiate, maybe look for better accessories, like low gauge cables (that's a plus for high current charging), and better price deals.
Btw, what are you planning to charge with QC3.0, are there any phones/tablets even available to take advantage of it?
Anker makes a quality product. I know their batteries work well. I'd go with them over the others.

I also trust Anker's quality. But I could think twice when purchasing since its price is always highest one.
Anker, Aukey and Tronsmart quick chargers all comes with 18W output. Actually the 1st release of this products share the same specifications.
So the quality is the point. It is very difficult to decide based on their Amazon reviews, almost the same review rating.
So, I am iClever Fans, since I bought a dual usb charger from their store. Works so great as I expect.
Its quick charge 3.0 single port charger is Amazing, 24W output.
Wow, Seems like the seller is providing deal price at 13.59$.
Ii would prefer aukey, I bought aukey qc 3.0 for use in car, and it works very well, I got some hdmi miracast adapter from Tronsmart and there is poor support on it, and does not work well (cant connect from NB or PC with Windows 10 to the adapter, but from smarthphone it works, only sometimes drops connection)
I have my HTC M10 on hand now. Just buy a set of QC 3.0 charger(wall, car, desktop) from Tronsmart. Works as expected.
if you want a cheap options the Aukey PA-Y2 blows the competitions away.
https://www.aukey.com/products/amp-type-c-dual-port-wall-chargerwith-quick-charge-3-0
this is the only charger that can fast charge both USB Type A devices and Type C devices.
Type C devices like Galaxy S8, Nexus 5X/6P or Google Pixel aren't able to be fast charged using a type a to type c cable, so please consider it when getting a type a only charger.

Recommended USB C cables?

This device is officially my debut into the world of USB C; I've never had a single device that uses it. I'm excited, but also cautious as I've read it can be dangerous if you buy a less-than-reputable brand for cables.
What brands would you recommend? Ideally, available on Amazon since that is where I buy pretty much everything from
*Side question - My previous device is an S7 Edge, and as such I have multiple QC 2.0 compliant chargers around the house and in my car (including wireless). I want to clarify whether I can continue to use those and expect fast charging or not*
I am using an Anker 2.0 car charger with mine with no issue. I did have to get a USB-A to USB-C adapter to be able to plug my car dock in (it's got a fixed USB-C cable).
I bought the Anker Powerline+ cable and a 3 pack of the regular Anker Powerline cables just to toss around, they're good.
Im using usb cables from a store called five below, got 5 black meshed ones right when the s8 came out. Now they are sold out. They are 6 feet 2 and working good

My S8+ arrived today, and I've ordered the following Aukey 5-pack from Amazon (UK). They will arrive tomorrow.

I've used both in the past, and have no preference and for me it comes down to price/offers and convenience (in stock/out of stock). Both make quality products in my experience, and you can't go wrong with either. I usually look first for Anker or Aukey products when I need things like cables, power packs/external batteries, car or wall chargers.

Do you trust 3rd party chargers?

This is my first foray into Android and I love the Pixel 2. It's great and I want to make sure I treat it well. Do you trust 3rd party wall chargers or do you think there is a risk they are bootleg and could damage the phone? I got one off Amazon and it seems to be ok so far, but who knows - (as a new user I can't post a link to the Amazon listing apparently). It's called "Google Quick Fast Charger Gray- Adapter with TYPE C to C Wire for Pixel/XL/C" and came in a discreet package not from Google.
Thanks
Do you know what brand it is? While Amazon is a more reputable dealer than searching on e-Bay...they too are not immune to junk...chargers that don't offer protection...or could result in electrocution. Did you look at the buyer rating to see that they were verified purchases and not fake reviews? What is the wattage and what version of Quickcharge does it support...ideally you want Qualcomm Quickcharge 3.0 to maximize charge speed on this phone. I try to at least stick with more reputable brands...I bought an Anker charger from Amazon that supports both QuickCharge 3.0 and has spots for my wife's iPhone. No issues and quick charging.

Hi - Thanks for the advice. Not exactly sure the the tech specs on it. Here is what Amazon said: "Brand New Original By Google Quick Fast Charger 18W 1.8Amp with TYPE C Pin Color Gray"

IIRC,Google Pixels support USB Power Delivery standard, not Qualcomm Quick Charge. The charger that comes with the phone is a PD charger and you can tell this by the fact that it uses a type c connection at the charger and at the phone. It's supposed to be a safer, more universal standard for fast charging USB c devices.
PuffDaddy_d is correct...disregard my QC3 recommendation...although I do get pretty fast charging with it using a quality Type-A to Type-C cable (presumably because it is 18W). For optimum charging, recommendation for Pixel and Pixel 2 (including standard and XL) is USB-C PD standard. Disregard my charger recommendation although I would till recommend sticking to reviewing your brand...if the one you bought is the one by Google...then you're fine.
I don't think you can get fast charging on a Pixel phone with any USB A charger. I saw just Charging or Charging Slowly at the bottom of the screen on mine with USB A. I was super frustrated shopping on Amazon for chargers because there's just so many fake ones and I couldn't find a Benson list for good chargers. He had some charger criticisms on his Google+ page, but didn't make an Amazon list and searching on G+ makes my head hurt. I went with Monoprice specifically because they're certified; item 24424 for my car charger ($10) and I'm very happy with it. On the office charger, I haven't needed one, battery life has been good enough to not worry, but Monoprice has those at $17, item 24426 or 21674. None of the Monoprice chargers are bundled with a cable, so expect to add $5+ for one. My old Motorola Turbo QC2 wall charger and the iOrange QC3 car charger do no good for the Pixel 2 so I gave them to my dad. I know it probably looks like I'm shilling for Monoprice, but there's so much trash out there. Amazon really sucks at this. Walmart and Staples just plain don't have a real USB C cable in their stores, though Walmart does have a real Samsung USB A-C cable for the same price you'd pay for a two pack from Anker or Cable Matters on Amazon, and I think that's pretty OK for retail. The Nintendo stuff seems OK if you're in a pinch. Gamestop has a Hori car charger (15W, not Power Delivery, cable attached) for $20 and the Nintendo branded wall charger for $30 (39W, has Power Delivery, cable attached). There aren't always cell phone stores around when you're jammed up.

SuperVOOC car charger

Ordered and received a couple of days ago.
So far so good.
OPPO SuperVOOC Car Charger.
Maximum 10V 5A 50W stable output to charge your phones and support 5V2A Quick Charge.
Multiple over-current, over-voltage protection.
The only strange issue is there was no cable included so I had to order one also.

I have an old unofficial dash charge car charger and it displays as super vooc on my find X2 Pro

Yes I know. Tried my last oneplus charger displays "superVOOC", but that's not SuperVOOC 2.0! It has a huge difference in charging speed.

Hey mate, i'm looking at getting this too. Did you have to buy the official USB C cable for it to work? I can't work out what the requirements are for the cable in order to get SuperVOOC 2.0 speeds. Just curious as i bought a standard USB C cable (one in the box is too short IMO) and although I had it plugged into the SV2.0 charger I couldn't get it to charge at SV2.0 speeds
The cable has to be the official one, because it's the only one that has [email protected] Most other cables have 5A. I also looked in China but couldn't find any that has these specs, yet.
I have also bought this charger and it is Super Vooc charger, meaning it is not 2.0 version, I use it with original cable, but the speed difference is not huge, it still charges fast enough.

hello
have a nice day
I have some advice for UK residents.
The SuperVOOX car charger its only 7.99 pounds in the OPPO official website, but it seems to be permanently out of stock.
Now, accidentally I found they are selling a bundle of the supervooc car charger + supervooc cable for 18 pounds, I think it´s a great deal so I bought it last weekend and it should arrive soon, heres the link:
https://oppomobiles.co.uk/car-kit.html
The funny thing with this is that the bundle is not listed in the web in the accessories or in any other part, you can only find it if you search for something related like "car" or "supervooc"
I also chatted with them asking about the car charger being out of stock and they didnt tell me about this bundle...

Great find. I’ve just bought a OnePlus 8 Pro wich supports WarpCharge 30T. This is the same as VOOC 4.0 I believe and they are both 5v @ 6A = 30W. Would this charger and cable charge my 8 Pro at 30W? Many thanks in advance.

not sure if it will be any good but the reviews of the product seem to indicate that it is in fact the real deal, i personally need the super fast charging as i drive since it takes me 30 minutes to get to work super fast charging would be ideal.
anyway i have decided to buy an inverter for the car to use the one that came with the phone for now, but it would be nice to have a proper car charger without all the extra mess them wires are going to be making.
USB type-C cables don't have to be OEM but they do have to be the right standard (& the standards get added to frequently so get an up-to-date cable), Qualcom PD/QC is much more common than Mediatek VOOC & they work in completely different ways.
VOOC pulses the power wires to communicate between charger/cable/phone (all 3 have chips) whereas PD/QC communicates via the data wires.
The result of this communication is different too, VOOC leaves the line at 5V & just changes the current [Edit]it seems SuperVOOC can also select 10V[/Edit] but PD/QC selects between various Voltage/current combinations & can get up to 20V.
If communication fails completely the charger defaults to 5V & max 2.1A with the phone deciding how much current to draw.
The previous micro-USB fast-charge standard is different again, it uses a plain cable & just communicates between phone & charger to select 2.4A, 3.1A or 4.2A vs the default max 2.1A

So, any feedback or review?
yes apologies i completely forgot to let people know, so basically the item works well and the phone tells me it is charging at super vooc 2.0 speeds, however I've used the app ampere and its definitely not as fast as the wall plug version but is certainly fast enough, also I'm not using the stock cable that came with the phone as that didn't seem to work very well with the charger so instead I'm using another one of my cables which is a volutz cable, i wasn't actually aware it would work since i bought it for another phone but seems to work really well, so all in all i would highly recommend the charger as it seems to be the best option for on the go and is certainly cheap enough.
