Kindle fire (1st gen) flashes green when I press power. No charging light. - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Originally I took it apart and found that the charging part was disconnected, a common issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-U4aaqnRpoo I resoldered and reconnected and then the orange charging light came on. I left it along with a 2 amp charge for 3 hours. I figured that should be enough to get the damn screen to turn on but when I did the green light came on. After that, the orange light won't turn at all when I plug it in. NO lights turn on when I plug it in, (if it was full it should be green right)
Every time I press the power button the green light comes on for approx 1.5 seconds. I have tried holding the power down for 30 counted seconds and then turning it on again, no change. I tried the Kindle Fire Utility could never get the kindle to register, even after installing the drivers. I suspect the problem is still a really dead battery (friend had the "dead, won't charge" kindle in his drawer for +2 years, I said I would try to fix it for him when I found out). But if the orange light won't come on, is it even charging?

Adding on to this after 4 days without a single reply... is there a way to DRAIN YOUR BATTERY dead? I believe mine is stuck in a partial power soft brick but u need to have it completely dead so i can get that orange light to come on again. Thanks

Device won't turn on

Yesterday when i plugged my phone in to charge, the battery icon turned into a question mark and the led started blinking orange and green. I tried pulling the battery out and rebooting the phone and the battery went back to normal but the led kept blinking. I left it to charge overnight and now I cannot get the phone to turn on at all. I have tried pulling the battery, holding the power button, plugging it in, nothing works. It will not turn on. I am on skyraider zeus if that helps at all.

The blinking LED of orange and green means the battery is overheating.
Try a new battery, battery is possible dead?
What kernel are you running? Stock clock speed and voltage? I would also recommend trying a new battery before anything else.
Sounds like your battery is overheating. Well actually sounds like you overheated it to death. It definately isn't a hardware problem though. Ive done this a couple times. Last summer while waiting for Revolutionary to come out I burned allot of time on Netflix with my phone plugged in, one week later fried battery. Just bring the battery in and they can tell you if it's dead or not

[Q] Defect or just coincidence?

I am on my 3rd Fire in less then 60 days, the first two died from the same thing. Powered off but when I went to power it on the next morning the light would briefly turn green then turn off. The screen would not come on, and when I plugged the charger in the light would turn green then change to a bright orange then immediately dim to a pale orange. Like I said the first two did the same thing, they were both flashed with the latest gedeROM and OC to 1200Mhz, I have shied away from flashing the third one until I can find a common denominator , either that or my luck is just that poor. I have googled this issue for the last few days and haven't found anybody with the same issue. Any help would be awesome thanks.

Well it sounds like its not charged. When u plug it in, do you have enough time to hold the power down for the 20 seconds required to force it off. If you can do that then you could let it charge while its forced off. But it sounds to me it wont stay on long enough. This might require a factory cable, not sure though. This same thing happened to me, ad with me being stupid I made a charger that is more voltage than default charger and I fried my kindle. I suggest not to do what I did

Yes I attempted a reset but it wouldn't respond and I tried to let it charge, but after about an hour it got extremely hot and I didn't feel I could leave it plugged in safely. When I contacted amazon for support I did all this for the tech on the phone and when I plugged it in and told him about the light, he said something about the usb port had come off the board which I know is possible but to happen twice in 60 days with two different devices is just ridiculous. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong if anything both devices were fully charged when the errors occurred. I just don't want to have to get a fourth before the month is out, the only positive is the fast turn around from amazon.

[Q] Red light of dead (maybe hard brick?)

Hello, I was using my phone yesterday while charging, the battery was ~45% and it was working fine at all, then it suddenly turned off and isn't turning on again, only blinking the red led if the power on button is pressed while charging in the wall charger and glowing the red led without blinking if connected to a computer. If the button is not pressed, the phone just stays off. I don't know what to do, in other situations the phone's battery gone to 0% and blinked the red light without the button pressed and came back after some minutes charging, but this time I tried to charge it some times and nothing happened. Somebody knows what to do?
Thanks
Hello there! I had the same issue, I was playing a game and my phone had like 7%, suddenly it turned off.. And wouldn't turn on, and showed the red led.
What I did is to let it charge for 30 minutes or more, maybe 1 hour. And then it'll turn on, if not. Maybe you'll have to remove the battery and reinsert it back in. But for now just let it charge for a long time. It should turn on.

Yeah, it happened before with me, but it didn't came back this time. Took it to LG, they said it was a hardware problem and that it would took ~4 days to give me an answer, thanks for the help anyway.

+1 to this suggestion. I went through that before, and it definitely helps in many cases. But it sounds like the phone is in for repair with LG now, so it's a moot point...

Galaxy Tab 8.4 SM-T700 bricked itself

So I was using my tablet one evening and the battery was drained down to 5%. I turned it off and set it away. When I returned to use it the next day it wouldn't turn on. Thinking it had no charge left, I set it to charge. I noticed the red charging light would not come on. The screen remains black at all times. I could feel a source of heat from behind the plastic backing. Some searches indicated the charging cable from the battery to the motherboard could be the culprit. I opened the back and found it seated. I removed it and reseated anyway. I left the cover off the back and plugged in the charging cable. I could feel one of the chips by the power button getting quite hot. Again, no red light to indicate charging, black screen. I have tried plugging the tablet into my computer and doing every combination of button holding for minutes that searches have supplied, POWER+VOLUME UP+ HOME, POWER+VOLUME DOWN, etc. No luck. I purchased a newer battery ( I've only used the tablet for about a month, and sparingly at that) and swapped it. No red light, same hot chip. Is the motherboard junked? Am I missing something? Appreciate any help.

Scritterz: Nothing has happened as of yet, it's become a paperweight.
Thanks Mr niceguy, I'm going to give that a shot. Couldn't hurt. I have however already purchased and installed a new battery with no change in operation, that chip on the motherboard still gets hot, no charging indicator light is lit and it just sits there not turning on.

LG G4 Just killed itself. Plugged in and no charging screen or charge LED

I put my phone down on the table and left. I came back and pressed the power button and it did nothing. I thought that was weird and held the power button and it didn’t turn back on. I then plugged in the device and still nothing happened. No charging LED or charge screen or anything. It is just black. I took the battery out and held the button for 30 seconds and put it back and plugged it in and nothing. I got out my USB volt meter and noticed that it is drawing power from the charger but the screen isn’t lighting up and the charge LED isn’t lighting up for whatever reason. I put in another battery I had laying around and nothing changed. Is this phone just dead or is there still hope in recovering it. I have no idea why it killed itself for no reason. Any ideas to try that can fix this?

Connect it to your pc and watch the device manager while doing so. You will likely notice a new device QHSUSB_BULK beneath other devices . If that's the case (99% chance it is) then you got catched by the ilapo ( see my signature for bootloop fix thread for workarounds which MAY work)
