Has someone give this Beta a try?

Trying now, just be aware that flashing WILL completely wipe your phone again... Everything is gone...
Seriously though, how hard is it to NOT wipe everything like, oh i don't know, every other phone out there...
There is not much difference between this and the last OTA update, I have found the fingerprint sensor a little better but even the security patch level says 1 March 2016... Can't say anything about battery life yet, I find it usually takes 3 days for that to settle but I really haven't seen much difference in UI or settings. Most changes must be "under the hood" so to speak... Doesn't help there's no changelog...
Found the case doesn't seem to register being closed easily so it just leaves the phone on even though I have the original case that has the screen cutout for clock and whatnot.
Keyboard still doesn't support swype...

Been running this for a number of days now, not run into any problems except it was slightly more difficult to root, lot of trial and error but I'm going to post a tutorial on how I rooted it later today.

Correction, someone has already posted the method here >>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p9000/how-to/how-to-root-elephone-9000-stock-rom-t3359315
The tutorial in the link above works for this firmware version as well.... could have saved myself a lot of time if I'd read that first lol. For convenience I've put all the files needed in a zip file (link below). Just use SP Flash Tool to flash the recovery, then flash the 2 other zip files from TWRP

trying to flash this but SPTools (5.1520.00) giving me "Error: Initializing scatter file failed. Please check the name of the scatter file which you load is legal" any ideas as to why? I have tried the other rom listed that isn't the BETA and get the same error...
Also, I don't appear to have the Allinone.bin file for the DownloadAgent, can someone please share that too me?
Thanks
Ignore that, I seem to have got it working.

Where do you get these ROMS from? I'm looking for rom version 20160318 for the p9000 lite.

I could only get 5.1604 working, 5.1612 wouldn't work for me at all on Windows 10 in VirtualBox.

This is officiel or not ? and GPS work for you on this rom ? is it based on 20160315 ?

Jim,
I was successfully able to root this device using the Bin4ry root as found at the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
I used a Mac and had to replace the adb binary with one for OS X. After doing that, I chose option 3 for rooting (as of v36 of the Bin4ry application). It installed SuperSU, and it's all rooted now!

2. The GPS does work aok.
3. The camera is locked (according to opencv library).

Can you please post the links here or share the roms or where you got the roms. That would be a great help. I can't get anyone on this forum to help much. Those mirrors are great, but they are so freakin hard to do anything with. Who would have thought that anyone could lock-an-android product so hard as they are!
I am trying to buy this A10 mirror instead since the other thread here is more active and it is for an A10.

thanks. Now for the bad news. I returned this device to ebay seller.
Now I want to move forward and buy this one. The seller guarantees it is A10, so that way if it isn't A10, I can return it. Like I said, this way, I can talk to the people on the more active xda-forum in my last post.
Q: Why don't you also buy that one and we can struggle together? I want to figure out how to unlock the camera so I can run opencv.
Thanks for any reply and hopefully see you on the A10 thread soon.

M2 10 Open Sourcecode (M2 A01L)

Hi guys,
Since today Huawei delivers the open sourcecode for the drivers, I guess.
Anyone in here capable to create a nice clean AOSP ROM or anything else good for our tablet?
Search link for LTE version:
http://m.huawei.com/enmobile/consum...roid=M2-A01L&proKey=Tablets_T/Tablets/M2-A01L
Direct download for LTE version:
http://download-c.huawei.com/downlo...oadId=89345&version=347349&siteCode=worldwide
Search link for WiFi version:
http://m.huawei.com/enmobile/consum...roid=M2-A01w&proKey=Tablets_T/Tablets/M2-A01w
Direct download for WiFi version:
http://download-c.huawei.com/downlo...oadId=89346&version=347353&siteCode=worldwide
I do not have the experience with ROM building, forking, ... etc. here.
One good room would be good.
Edit. Nevermind
Anyone with the LTE version of this can you upload to a cloud link so that I can download? I would rather not waste my time having to send an email to [email protected] just to get it. Thanks

Hi! Thank you, i'll do an AOSP for our poor tablet, the only problem in my case, I'm unable to unlock the bootloader because i haven't in dev options "OEM unlock". If I'll pass this issue, I'll immediately start to develop the ROM.

Yeah it's a pain to unlock the bootloader. But since I need to install Google Workspace device policy I have no other option
@Crypto18 - There is a possibilty to unlock the bootloader by using dc-unlocker - amount about 4 Euro. I had success in doing so a year ago. It would be very nice to get an AOSP-ROM für the tablet.
I think, I unlocked it with dc-unlocker, too, four years ago or so.
I would be happy to have any clean/empty/fresh AOSP ROM for this tablet, as up to today it is still fast and really usable.
If you need any help, I would also be eager to learn how to do it (building a ROM). @Crypto18

I did the DC-unlocker thing today as described in the sticky, so it still works. Somebody in this thread mentioned that it worked for him without the OEM unlock option (it disappeared in EMUI 4), but to be on the safe side I had done a downgrade to EMUI 3 before (the oldest one I found didn't have a working dialer, I didn't try the landscape calculator trick to activate the manufacturere mode, but updated to a later EMUI 3 version that had a a working dialer: "Huawei MediaPad M2-801L Android 5.1.1 EMUI 3.1 B007.zip").
I am now looking for a working TWRP (see my post in the sticky thread a few minutes ago).
If you manage to unlock your bootloader, I would be willing to go the "build your own version from scratch" way with you. I have experience as embedded Linux developer one decade ago, but never did it for Android. Would be more fun to have a second person interested in this "classic" tablet.
@coocooc , @Crypto18 ,
Have you made any progress with developing a custom rom?
@coocooc - Please search for "TWRP-3.1.0-recovery-MediaPadM2-10.0-LISZT-A01L-A01W.img" in TWRP. That's the TWRP you're looking for.

Crypto18 so far did not come back, and I didn't start the journey yet.
I am on the way to prepare a Linux laptop for building Android and SBC stuff, but family life does not allow to spend many hours on my pet projects.
I wrote a mail to Huawei to get the latest sources (EMUI 4), but the first level support shown on their GPL site couldn't fulfill the wish. They gave me a developer address to apply to; let's see how this ends.

Thanks for the hint! I will try this TWRP version tonight. Which EMUI version are you using with this TWRP (EMUI 3 or 4)? Is there something to check in the flash layout first, to succeed with this TWRP?
@coocooc - I'm using a Huawei Mediapad M2 10.W with Emui 3.1., Android 5.1.1.
If you're on Mediapad 801L, the above mentioned TWRP will not work for you!

Funny, the name of the TWRP file suggests that it is valid for both the L and the W versions of the M2-A01.
What is exactly the problem with this file?
I unlocked both the phone und FRP on my device before installing this file.
I am on EMUI 3.1. and Android 5.1.1.

I'm sorry that i didn't make it clear enough, and yes it's ready to be flashed on HTC One E9plus. Just download the ROM and Gapps from the link above(developer site) and flash them from twrp(make sure to do the necessary reset) and you're done.
Ok, thanks. Will try when I get home. Hope at least battery life is better, because it's terrible in LP.
Edit: everything installs successfuly, but I'm getting bootloop.
Another edit: Managed to bypass error 7 in TWRP but my phone still bootloops. Tried to RUU it then install fresh cm, but still no go. I wonder how anyone else managed to run theirs.
Actually, did anyone flashed this and confirmed it is working? Normally there would be a swarm of posts and screenshots of people saying what's working and what's not. But here - with a working CM port of MM for our device the result is a dead silence. It's like no one ever tried to install it.
By the lack of responses i get that it's like when the op created the thread with the screenshot of the dev that is now removed - the dev said: you just need to port it. As no one reported by now that the rom is booting and working i get it that it is not ported or no one is willing to share. I tried it, got error 7 in twrp, managed to avoid it, rom installs, gapps installs and yet i get bootloop. Yes i know - i cleaned everything and did a factory reset. Also did a GPS lock prior to install all this in order to get GPS working in AOSP rom as it used to be in the past. None of this worked. Then i did a RUU. Returned to complete stock. Tried with and without root. Nothing. Everything installs but it ends up in bootloop. Never had such issues on any other phone. I'm not a dev or a coder or anything, but i'm very familiar with all this tinkering with roms, mods, xposed and any other stuff. By my minimal knowledge the rom is not ported for our device. I might be wrong - i'm a simple user, but unless a couple of people show screenshots of this rom up and running i'm giving up of using my only phone as a guinea pig. End of rant. My apologies if my words are a bit harsh. Have a great day people.
I can try to port for our device... I've found a guide!!!

Thank you Phil, great initiative!
Just a suggestion for you to consider: I know it's extra work, but I think it could be a good idea to post a hash of each uploaded file for integrity validation after downloading (SHA1 or SHA256). What do you think?

Hey there, thanks for your feedback!
And thanks for the suggestion. If you can give me good reasons to do that, I will consider it, but I don't see which protection is offered by these hash files nowadays...
They won't prevent man-in-the-middle attacks, as the hash files can be manipulated as well - as I see it, it only makes things a little harder for both sides.
But what do you think? Do you really think this can help?
All the best!

I'm not so much thinking about MITM or other malicious attacks (even though that can happen too), but merely about a minimal safeguard for checking file integrity. For important things, I always check the file hash when it's made available by the download source.
It means no additional difficulty or effort for the downloading party (only those interested, like me, would check the hash against the one posted in the OP for each file), it's only an added step to generate and post the hash for the uploader party (ie., you ).
Of course, it's not a requirement or a high priority for these files, but it would be a nice touch, given how crucial and sensitive a thing it is. Just for reference, all official LineageOS downloads have their sha256 hashes posted and available.
Thanks for your response, and again, for your efforts and time in creating and maintaining this thread!

I don't recommend to use these files on MIUI or MIUI-based ROMs.
OP is updated with that statement.

What's the difference between China-dev and Global-dev?
Hi there, thank you for maintain all of this. I recently updated form 14.1 to 15.1 using FW 8.4.19, but the battery is worse than before.
1) Is this because of the firmware or the LineageOs update?
2) And if it is the firmware what version, in your experience, has the best battery lifetime?
3) To get back to the old good battery lifetime, I am also willing to downgrade, but I cant remember which FW version I was on. But the new 9.5.2 seems to be promising or what do you think?
Thank you once more, this is a great place here

It's just the naming of the MIUI version these files are taken and modified from.
If you wanna know what's behind a new version before flashing you need to check out the changelogs on the official MIUI release site and think about what changes might be firmware related.

Thanks you! : )
A ROM (generation!) update is way more likely to have a high impact on battery life than a firmware update.
Oreo sadly just suffers from very high mobile standby drain. This counts for every single Oreo ROM I was on so far...
If you wanna get better battery, see what happens when you turn off mobile data everytime you're using wlan. Will make an enormous difference.
Edit:
Also check in developer settings if "Mobile data always on" is deactivated.
Useless battery drainer that somehow is activated by default on some ROMs for reasons beyond my reasoning.
As long as I've been using Nougat ROMs and did have a little more insight to actual Nougat based firmware differences as I was doing testing for Xceed, I swore on the good old 7.5.4.
I would appreciate a feedback of how it goes with 9.5.2, if you should decide to roll back (which I believe will drastically bring back better battery life), but I'll re-upload 7.5.4 here later as well, so you can compare.
All the best!

Miui-based
Why do you wanna use these?
Firmware updates are included in new MIUI versions. That's where I take them from
Is there any difference between the global version and China version?

Thank you phil, very interesting.
I have been looking around for a while, but I cant find any 14.1 nightlies any more. On the official LOS I can just find the 15.1 builds, the Nougat ROMs seem to be removed.
But maybe someone has still some stable version and can provide me a link? Or spot me the the correct download place?
I am defenitely keen to try the new 9.5.2 FW on Nougat. Would just be happy to get a good battery lifetime back.
Thank you

Either install the global ROM (with a factory reset) or wait a couple of days - EU ROM comes with a slight delay after the global version (if there are no major issues).

You should not lose your warranty (at least in Europe bootloader unlocking won't void it).
I would suggest you to make yourself familiar with flashing in general (adb, fastboot, tools, rom formats etc.) before you attempt something.
Recovery Android 11 EU ROM, flashing from TWRP works fine. Notification LED is finally clearly visible with the latest ROM.

Good news but UK still with 12.0.8.0 (QJSEUXM)...
Try Switch Region to france and you´ll get 12.0.9.0 . At least in Germany it works.
But it is only a very small Update.

It was the same for me, so I just flashed recovery ROM from TWRP (at first from 12.0.8.0 to 12.0.9.0 and then to 12.0.1.0). It should work with locked bootloader and stock recovery as well (some extra steps like renaming file to "update.zip" and putting it to the root of SD card, or using ADB sideload might be necessary).

I think the A11 EEA Recovery ROM got released but you have to be a Beta tester? Something to do with pilots lol
So hopefully that means there will be a full 11 rollout soon
I thought that EU Andoid 11 version is stable, but it seems to be really only beta as mentioned on 4pda. There are some misalignments in message notifications and phone crashed quite nastily once (had to reboot it 5 times until it finally fully started). RAM usage seems to be a bit too high as well resulting in more app redraws/reloads than necessary. I hope that fixed version will be out soon.
And the very same file is out as official "beta stable" now..

Do you know for how long approximately we will have to wait for Android 11 stable in Europe because Beta is now out?

From what I understood how Xiaomi does the updates:
1. at first there is internal beta
2. after successful internal testing, it goes to closed beta
3. after closed beta it goes to public beta
4. if there are no (major) issues, the very same version is released to public in batches as "stable beta" (recovery ROM)
5. if there are no (major) issues, the very same version is released to public in batches as "stable" and fastboot ROM is released as well
So I believe that what we've seen is that "public beta" V12.0.1.0.RJSEUXM became "stable beta" and will transition to "stable" in the coming weeks. However when exactly is it going to hit your phone is impossible to tell, they chose phones by country + some random parameters. Manual installation is probably the best way how to have the latest ROM version.
искам да попитам моя сензор за близост на светлина работи тук спира и го няма никъде В настройките Как да настроя това, за да поправя моля помогнете I'm sorry to write exactly This may not be the topic But I'm still with my ten lite and the sensor doesn't work andЗа съжаление there is no slider for incoming calls where to set it there are a lot of truncated functions why? Sorry I want to ask my light proximity sensor works here stops and is nowhere In the settings How to adjust this to make a fix please help

Exactly this version is now arriving on my German stock phone as an OTA update today. The phone is new and I had never participated in any beta program or anything like that. Thus it should be stable production right now. Is this true?
Did I get this right? Xiaomi is not differentiating beta-version numbers from stable version numbers? In other words: I cannot differentiate the release train between a beta and a stable channel from looking at the version number?
Thank you!
Ethan

Yes, it seems to be considered as a "stable" now.
And yes, there is no difference in the version number between beta/stable. ROM is not being re-released, it's always the same ROM with the same download link and with the same hash. Beta/stable beta/stable is just a naming convention which changes over time. There is no special beta channel in a traditional sense as you might be used to from PC/ mobile applications.

Thank you, _mysiak_! This is more clear now.
What is disappointing for me is, that now, after I have thoroughly decided to install the OTA update, it has disappeared again and is no longer found by the Xiaomi updater. How strange.
Maybe there were bugs and it is set back to beta status?
You probably never know the algorithms how Xiaomi distributes updates...
Maybe they just save bandwidth right now. ;-)

I've read exactly that explanation - if you don't install the update when it's received, your "slot" is released after few hours/days and offered to someone else. It is supposed to save bandwidth and prevent overload of Xiaomi servers. But I have no idea if it's really true..
So the update will shortly be arriving now as stable update via phone updater. If someone has a link when it arrives you should put it here
