Not bad concept at all

Kind of awkward looking, but have to case it up anyway

not the best but it's been a while I haven't wanted a case to change the look of it.

What's driving me nuts about the hate of this device is how many think the G5 sucks solely based on looks. Has the mobile tech sphere really become this superficial and shallow? It's a phone (not a purse) that has its form follow its function. I'll take practicality over useless 'good looks' any day.

Yeah. It is unbelievable how people choose looking over effectiveness and functionality. LOL If no one likes the G5 im open to receive all your phones. Just send me a message and i will give the address hahaha. And my phone will arrive soon, but by seeing the reviews on youtube it seems to me like a very interesting design though. Not too sophisticated but also not too Simplistic. It looks smooth.

If you slap a bulky Otterbox case on your phone, why would "looks" ever really matter? lol with that said, I like the look of the G5. The metallic body isn't HTC awesome, but it's far from ugly.

I think it looks great/fine. I have a clear case (Poetic Affinity) to show off the phone a bit more, and a kickstand non-clear case (Spigen Thin Armor) for when I don't care as much. Honestly I'm starting to prefer the Poetic just because I like looking at the phone itself.
That said, I've found that I stop caring about looks about a week after I get it. Maybe that's just me.

I actually really like the lok of the g5.. I do always run a case though. I have my silver g5 in a spigen neo hybrid case I really dig the appearance with the case even more then the phone alone.

Okay the phone is understated, but its ergonomically great. It doesn't scream for attention like S7 nor is it super thin and slippery like iPhone. Since i don't like using cases, this phone is perfect for me.
Though I have to admit, when you buy a premium segment phone, looks do matter. And LG tbh does disappoint there. Its just an average looking phone. Nothing to go ga-ga over , but nothing to hate nonetheless. Its simply a boring looking phone.

It looks good ;D
Gonna be my next phone after the Galaxy S6

Dunno...it's like a renewed copy of the Lg G2...is not that bad...i like it.

Well you can't deny it's a huge improvement from the G4 and its horribly shaped back. I do wish the whole front panel was glass though. After the 6P I think it's the best looking droid so all in all, can't complain.

Love it
I don't see why people think its ugly.....to each his own.

I think it's not that pretty... The back is ugly with the camera bump (camera bumps should just not happen, put bigger battery to fill the gap). I hate the curved glass. I hate any curved glass on a phone, it makes it impossible to put a simple tempered glass protector which I think is a must.
But.... the phone is great. Not my choice for design but it's a solid performer! From performance to sound and camera. Everything is rocking solid. I like it a lot!

Do you think the G4 is beautiful?

I'm not trolling but I feel like its front is kinda bulky the G3 is more beautiful in my opinion. Maybe I haven't seen the G4 in real lifr so I dont feel it?
I didn't have the G3. But I've had the galaxy s1, 2,3,4 and the g4 is by far the best Android phone I've owned. The plastic removable back is super solid and the device feels great in hand. (Galaxy phones had backs that were always creaky) It took me 30 seconds to love the back buttons. I usually like more rounded edges, but this device suits me quite well. I think it's a thing of beauty
I was as skeptical as OP. However, in person it looks way better. I'ts not bulky it has very thin edges like 5mm that refine the look of a of a 9.8mm phone incredibly well. The bezels are just a bit larger than G3 but noticeably smaller than average. Mines catches lot of attention here. Just the Camera looks better fitted on the G3 but lets compare Picture Quality. The buttons are more comfortable to deal with on the G4. If ever rooted it'll be my 2 years Keeper.
Yeah is bulky and feels cheap in hand.

And root is coming on September right? The One+ you have measures 152mm vs 149mm G4. Both with 5.5'' screen.

Don't get it why you kids always get butthurt and take it personal. It is my opinion. You find it beautiful good for you. I reserve the beautiful judgement for top models and just so you know I have the s6, the g4, the g2, the 1+, the nexus4, 5 and 6 and yes the g4 is the least well built phone.

Feels and looks premium to me, doesn't even feel bulky. I love the carbon fiber look on the front too. Looks way better than the G3 with that odd color bottom bar.
it is slightly bigger than G3, be it in figures or in physique.
but it's definitely more comfortable to handle than G3, IMHO.

unique
Absolutely love the design of the phone, the only real reason I backed it on Kickstarter, something different
Amazing! One of the most uniquely designed and looking phones ever. I constantly have people come up to me to ask about my phone, or stop and double take. Please keep the unique and dual-tone colors on the successor to the Nextbit Robin. The length of the phone is great, the rectangular design is great, the circle design language mix with the boxy rectangular design language is just perfect. Such a cool looking phone. Keep this design language.
I absolutely love the unique colors of the mint (dang I wish I had mint night) it just stands out in a good way compared to every other metal slab phone there is.
This is the reason I bought this phone. I have been wanting a true squared phone for a while. The older Sony models were close to perfection, I believe this one nails it. This will be a phone in my lineup that will most likely get the most use, with a OnePlus 3T and a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. I can't stand the edge, but I like to have a factory / carrier phone just incase something funky happens. The 3T is a power horse and fun for modding.

I second the notion
I have an Axon7 and a S7 edge, just picked up the Robin a few days ago and love the design.
It not feel as premium as glass on glass (s7 edge) or all metal (Axon7) but it still feel great, and I love the finger print sensor placement!
To this day I can't go more than a week without somebody asking what kind of phone that is? It's very eye catching and is greatly part of why I got it.

Looks great, feels great, excellent speed and stamina. What more could you ask for?
Agreed, mine just got here. Lovin it!!
I'm about 36 hours in to having mine. Loving it. The size is a welcome change.
Going from a Nexus 6P to this, sort of I am still carrying both right now.. work and personal but I love the look and feel of this phone.. So much more manageable and really the screen size difference is not big enough for me to care.
I traded in a Note 4 for this (which I loved) and I'm thrilled with the smaller size. It's the perfect middle ground for me - not too big for my pockets. As a tall guy, I could carry the Note 4 just fine in my pocket and in my hand it was great, but I absolutely love the downsized goodness that is the S7. My note was always rubbing holes in my pants pockets because it's just slightly too big.

Came from the Note 4 as well. For a 5'0" tall, 100-pound girl like me the Note 4 was seriously huge!! I loved it to bits but it came to the point where it was impractical to carry and hold. I love the size of the S7 and generally the device looks so sleek and classy! I guess what the Note 4 lacked was that "premium feel" devices released afterwards have.

I'd prefer the phone be a bit shorter and wider (like the LG G2 I'm coming from). Otherwise, the size is nearly perfect for me.

The pearlescent finish and curved back are pretty nice to look at.

honestly, I paid for the ad free version of the couple apps and games I use a lot, I have ad block plus for the samsung browser which is arguably as good as or better than chrome. So for me, that takes care of the second biggest reason I root. The top reason, is bloatware and with gatesjunior's debloater, I've blocked all the apps I can't uninstall and the phone runs great. I personally have really no need for root at this point. After doing these things this is hands down the best device I've had yet.
I actually just mentioned this in another thread. I have the Gold Platinum Galaxy S7 (not Edge). It is THE sexiest phone I have ever owned. Ever. I was very leery about buying it since it can't be rooted and I've rooted every single Android phone since the Droid, rocking Android 2.0.1, which I bought the day it was released. Though root didn't exist, and I had no idea what root even was for probably a couple months. Basically I screwed with the phone and set everything up that could be possibly customized on my own. At which point I was bored at work and discovered root while looking up what else could be customized that I didn't discover on my own playing with the phone. I was one of the 2% on VZW who had their 3G data throttled back by 90%. So I was also one of the first with 4G, getting a Thunderbolt, rather than waiting for the Bionic (luckily because that was delayed for so long, I was almost due for a new upgrade). But back to the point from my ADDetour, I barely mind not having root. I do wish I could customize the statusbar icons/text/clock colors/fonts. But otherwise loving marshmallow. And I've always liked touchwiz. And love this one. But that's only half of it. This is the first time I can say in terms of hardware that Android crushes Apple. It is one drop dead sexy phone. Though damn near every flagship Android looks better than the iPhone now. I even owned a few iPhones over the years, trying to accept them because I've always thought they were great devices, but none lasted more than a couple weeks before I sold em off and got a new Android. Even though I thought it looked better physically, and I always jailbroke them and tried to make myself like it, I always came right back to Android. As I said in my thread about getting a case for it. I want as little as possible. I have always just slapped a case on my Androids without a second thought. But I don't wanna cover this beauty up. On a scale of 1-10, I give it an 11. I just couldn't be happier with this phone. Well, once somebody finds the exploit to root it. But as a stock device. Never had one like this
I love the way the camera and flash is lined up. Screen is amazing!
Definitely the best looking phone I've ever had.

Just look slick and stylish. The glass texture feels great too!
Love the way it looks and feels in my hand. If i had 1 negative thing to say it would be the glass gets slippery when you hand starts to sweat a bit.
Love this phone, build quality, aesthetics and everything, its one of the best looking smartphones, sleek, stylish, premium even better.

Doesn't feel bad in anyway , but i got disappointed from the metal feeling, not even close to Htc or Sony Z1-3 series its just like plastic , i needed to google it to find out that is really metal as they said, in quality i got a problem with my up microphone that got inside on the right side , i could get it back using my thumb and nail but still right side is a bit more inside and seems easy to get in again. So i am giving it 3 stars in quality both feeling and i would give it 4 if i hadnt the speaker small issue , i was expecting more than that but its still good phone!
9 months in and the lg use of subpar components comes through. Bootloops as soon as it gets hot....and it will get hot pretty quick if in a pocket and outside. Works great ...probably in a fridge now. Had to deal with GPS issues too...worse GPS signal phone ever. Quality has gone down the drain with lg since the g3. Not taking a chance on the g6.
So sad...really wanted to love this phone. But come on not even a year.....!!!!
I thought give them a chance since they did replace the wife's g4 but now I regret it. Can't wait for the wife's g5 to self destroy itself just like mine.
Im not sure why LG phones get so hot compared to other manufacturers, but other than that, no big issues.
Edit: Wrong Thread
I have a Galaxy S7 and this definitely feels less solid. But I guess that's because of the modular design.
I do like that it's metal but I don't like the camera sticking out unprotected. I've seen quite a few G5's with badly scratched camera covers so this clearly needs a case of some sort, which is a bit of a bummer.
Still, metal >>>> glass.
This is still new but I'm not sure how well the bottom module would hold up over repeated swaps. Thankfully, I'm seeing a lot of replacement modules online.
The battery is also kind of odd in how you need to lock it in place. Better than springs or keeping it loose I suppose.
The earphone jack is also a bit shallow. It works but I can see metal sticking out.
Overall, it seems like everything could be just a smidgen tighter or "locked in." But, again, I'm coming from an S7.

coming from samsung s4, it's definitely feel better and weigh more (actually a negative, the increased weight).
Doesnt matter much the look because all my phones go into waterproof cases so i never see the actual phone most of the time anyway..lol

just got mine, its beautiful. great feel and a mix of a galaxy and htc.
Phone looks as premium as any other phone. Very quality look all around. It is surprisingly skinny, which I like a lot, and does resemble an HTC 10 or G5. Still, an amazing build. I will have a case on it, so it's really no big deal what it looks like. Lol
I like it a lot. Feels like an iPhone 6S plus an HTC had an affair and this is the bastard child lol. Love it.

Premium design and quality, bad protruding camera.
I definitely agree - the phone does have very premium looks. Of course, somebody could say that the current Galaxy models are easily a class above this phone in looks. But, in and of itself, the OP3 is quite satisfying to look at. And, compared to others in its price range, it definitely holds it own. Overall, I would definitely give this a thumbs up in the looks department.

Metal>glass. It may not be as premium as the s7 edge, but it definitely is more premium than the standard s7 in looks

All metal body, nice finish. Only qualms are the camera bump. Also because it is so thin and sleek it is quite slippery leading to usage of a case (sigh). But the phone looks very premium. I just don't get to show it lol

very well said it!!
the phone is extremely pleasing and premium to hold and look at. the only issue i personally feel is slippery ness of the device but i feel the same about pretty much every metal body phones. It's extremely well crafted as well. just love the plain beauty of this device.
Beautiful, but 'tis a slippery beast.
Oneplus 3 is love ?❤
Its definitely premium looking phone. For some reason I like the antenna bands wich most people seem to dislike. At least with the iPhone. They make the back a bit less boring looking. Although wish they had proper styleswap covers like in OPO and OP2.
I kind of dislike how the camera is big and bulky and has kind of a contrast against the thin metal body of the phone. In my opinion it doesnt fit that well. It isnt a deal breaker for me of course, I can always put a case.
+ All elements (speakers, buttons, SIM tray, microphone, etc) are in line
+ Good home button shape
+ Good detailing on the alert slider
+ Simple black bezel, not like those old tacky Samsung phones
+ Subtle chamfers
- Corners rounded with horizontal bias. WHY?
- The squircle camera shape
- The antenna lines are asymmetrical: not the same distance from the top/bottom of the phone
- The middle antenna line is thinner than the other two
- Both antenna lines are too close to the top/bottom of the phone
- The top and bottom bezels are not the same length
Overall, the OP3 is the most generic looking phone of 2016: pseudo-premium aluminium build, imperfect design and nothing crazy. It seems like OnePlus tried to make the phone look different by changing small things like the corner rounding and the slant of the top and bottom sides but to me it just makes the phone look worse. It doesn't look as matured, sophisticated or refined as the Note7, 10 or XZ but it's not an visual disaster like the G5 or the old Galaxy S3.

I agree with some of what you said. I recently purchased the gold (white face) OnePlus 3, and it's really a thing to look at. Really nice looking phone, with some inspiration from Apple and Samsung, as well as HTC. The phone's design is nothing extra special I agree, but I wouldn't call it generic. That's being a tad picky. Every company has their style and OnePlus' is quite subtle. The reviews on xda forums are what I looked at as a customer before I purchased this phone. To anyone out there contemplating buying this phone, you won't be disappointed in the design. It's good. Durable and strong. The camera bump on the back protrudes a bit and the sides are kind of sharp (like the galaxy s6 edge), but I use a case so it's not bothersome at all ( I even remove the case sometimes to get a feel of that sexy beast directly in my hand).
I wanted HTC 10, but i got OnePlus 3 for 300 euro, almost new.
Metal case it's very nice, good build. I like the most, the square corners. For example HTC 10 it's very rounded on corners .
I like the phone because it's slim. It's a little big for pocket, but with 5,5" screen, that's it. Weight it's normal for a big phone with a metal case.
It is a Premium phone with Good Price!
I'm very pleased about it.
I love the looks so much. The back kind of reminds me of the iPhone 6 / 6S. Build quality is really surprising too considering the price imo.
Love the sleek body.
I get annoyed when someone hands me over a Samsung or Moto
But the camera bump is a bit of a problem too.
with the oneplus cover sandstone it looks awesome because the bump on the camera is annoying without it
