Not receiving text messages - Elephone P8000

Hi,
Has anyone ever had any trouble with not receiving text messages? They send fine and I have tried the sim card in another phone and I have received them then so it makes me believe it is something to do with the actual P8000.
Thanks.

Which rom & kernel are you using? Did you try downloading an alternative messaging app from Play Store? There are some good ones out there, and also freeware

I'm on stock rom and kernel. I have tried a few other and the same thing is going on.
It was working previously and then stopped.

Hey I am from India and here something called as Msg centre which is a number and can be configured in the settings from the default messaging app. After a dirty flash I too faced the same problem as I was aware about it. Check your settings and if the message centre is blank, then you need to google your service centre number or contact your service provider for more help.
I hope this helps.
Kind Regards
Mohammed Shaikh

I done a factory reset and this fixed the problem. Something must have changed along the way but I can't pin point it. All working now but had the inconvenience of a full wipe

Need Help with App

I have tried on two phones to download the Battlenet Authenticator with no luck (the other phone is my EVO). I keep getting the message 'Your phone is not compatible.' I know it will work because it has happened with other apps. I cannot find the latest version of the app online. Would someone download, rip and email me the .apk?
Thanks for any help.
Have you changed your DPI? If so, change it back and clear the market data. that will fix your problem.

Wow.. thanks. Fixed two issues at once. I had been wondering why my phone would do that, and I could not find the answer. I have been just downloading apps off the net then installing them.
Thanks again.

Jellybean SMS problem

Hi there.
When I go into messages app and make a new message I select contact but then the program drops the area code.
However if I go into the people app then select a contact, press the message button then the sms message will go through because it doesn't drop the area code..
So it is sort of annoying that I have to start messages that way. Anyone else have this?
I am running 4.1.1
Thanks

Turns out that did not fix the issue either.
I guess I am just stuck with starting sms from my people app.
i've noticed this too after the ota, seems like the Parentheses around the code confuse it(###)

Glad I am not the only one.
I also have this problem. All my contacts have parentheses () as well.

I'm also experiencing this issue with the ota update on my i9029a
Anyone solve this issue. This is happening for me too

I have had the same problem for a while now as well. The most convenient solution in my opinion is to edit the contacts by deleting the parenthesis from the number. I realize this can be tedious but at least its a one time fix instead of starting a conversation through the people app every time. I have been editing the contacts on my Gmail on my computer for convenience and then syncing to my phone. Or just keep using your phone like normal and whenever you run into a problem, just go to the contact page real quick and fix it.
I haven't tried the previously proposed solution of performing a factory reset and re-downloading contacts from the google account. I prefer my method since performing a factory reset would be very inconvenient for me.
Does anyone came up with the solution. Been experiencing the same problem also.

sms keeps sending, but won't send out unless reboot

Hi,
I'm really frustrated about this. Every two or three days, the sms could not be sent. After reboot, it will work fine.
Anyone might help me out?
I have tried clear the cache partition, and clear the message app data, which all doesn't work.
Thanks.

First off are you on stock ROM rooted or anything of that sort? Are you useing the stock messaging APP? If you are on a custom ROM you may try a clean flash and or a permissions fix. You may also try another messaging app.
Yes, stock rom and stock sms app.
If using 3rd party app, still won't work. So I think it's a lower-level service issue, not the app layer.
any thoughts?

how long has this been going on?
how is your phone at receiving texts? have you tested if they're arriving (to you) immediately?
this may be a carrier issue.
Misconfigured service center number?
Shouldn't be.
As this message stuck at sending, after reboot I'll got the notification that message fail sent. And tapping the resend button, it will succeed. Just after a certain time,(maybe a couple of days), won't work again.

Not quite sure for how long.
Receiving texts without problems.
Shouldn't be a carrier issue, as after rebooting, it works fine.

SMS's not sending - Have to reboot to send.

I'm having an issue with my SMS where after a while they will sit in my inbox trying to send but not actually send or fail. I physically have to reboot the phone for them then to send. S-off, rooted running ARHD 10.2. I'm not sure if it's more network related or handset related as I can receive and everything else works solidly.
Anyone else experienced this?
I am running a similar set up like you, im on ATT, I can't say I've had that problem enough to say its a problem..
Obviously your service is good in that particular area?

Have you upgrade the firmware? Check this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54408500&postcount=9592
US users may wish to try the 2.22.1540.3 fw

Yeh I have upgraded my firmware before flashing 10.2. It's an intermittent problem which is the most annoying thing. In the ARHD post there seem to be at least 2 others with this same issue as well which is strange...

I had an issue with sms notifications after I installed a custom rom. Then learned that my problem comes from the hearbeat interval settings. I think my carrier uses a custom value (5min is default) and since I changed the rom, their settings have not been pushed to my phone.
Testing several things I came across this app. It will not hurt to try it:
Install an app called "pnf push notification fixer". Is free from store.
Set the heartbeat mobile interval to 3 minutes.
Reboot.
Make sure the value did not change itself
Monitor and see if the problem stays the same.
This maintains the connection alive for me.
Have you checked when you experience the issue if the sms carrier center number removes or changes?
On the dialer press *#*#4636#*#*
Select phone info
Scroll down to smsc and hit refresh. Note the number when working. When it stops, repeat the process and check if the number is diff or was removed. You can also hardcode one there.

I had a bit of both. The cellphone was not maitaining the network alive fast enough.
I have the same issue.
I've tried what jmoneste wrote, but the problem still persist. SMS keep failing. Everytime I want a message to be sent I have to activate airplane mode and then desactivate en resend the SMS. It's so annoying.
This problems comes from stock rom and now I'm using the Viper One ROM but it still fails.
Has anyone found the solution?

Question Few Issues with my Iqoo 9 Pro

Hi Guys
I m just wondering if anyone else is having those issues with their phone :
- Can't activate Google Assistant by saying "Hey or Ok Google". Apparently the feature is unavailable for this phone.
- Whatsapp : cant take selfie picture using the APP. The camera just freezes when you try.
- Cant change the gallery app used while taking photos. Even when picking my prefered APP as default, the camera reverts back to Vivo's app : Album
- Android Auto (well it looks like it won't happen!)
I m sure I ll find more issues in the next few weeks
Dj
Same on my phone. Whatsapp camera freezes when taking a selfie. About the album I think that's how most of the camera apps work - they come with their own album. I tried "open camera" app and it allowed me to choose which gallery app to open the pictures with. Other camera apps, however, came with their own album.
HI Hamza
Thanks for your info.
I found a way around the selfie issue. Simply press the paper clip logo in the "typing box" then long press the camera logo and choose take a photo, it will then open the phone's camera APP rather than whatsapp's.
From there you can take selfies.
The WhatsApp selfie bug is fixed after latest upgrade.
Phone update or Whatsapp's?
I still have the same issue.
I guess you are lucky with your iQOO 9 pro as you don't have any problems with touch screen and camera. The device that I used had the infamous iqoo 9 pro touch screen problem and camera problem.
The touch screen was unresponsive almost all the time. The camera app was launching but was becoming unresponsive and unusable.
I've made a video on the touch problem and camera problem that I had experienced. You can watch the video from the below link and check your phone for these problems.

You are on funtouch or origin
Make sure you grant all permissions on the stock Vivo SMS app before switching the default messaging app to Google Messages, otherwise Google Messages won't work.

How did you do that Can you explain me please why a New APN just for Mms. Can you give me an exemple of how you set this new one only for MMS. Thanks
The MMS APN is unique for each carrier. I have attached the Vivo Origin OS Ocean apn-config system file. You can open it using Windows Notepad. Just use the 'find' feature in the Notepad menu and search for your carrier (telecom service provider). Once you have found your carrier, you will see their APN LTE (for voice and data), APN MMS (for text messages with pictures), and for some carriers APN IMS (for VoLTE and WiFi Calling). Go to Settings/Mobile Network/Sim and 'add' a new APN using the MMS APN for your carrier from Vivo's apn-config file.
