Considering most all of us have not even had our phones shipped, and won't ship for at least another week the answer is:
No [emoji2]

Hard to say. It does say some regions will and some will not. Some places said that the unlocked version in the US should get them, but the carrier versions will not. So until people start getting them take everything with a grain of salt.

Except Jeff Gordon at HTC already made statements saying US Unlocked versions will not include "hi-res" earphones.
That being said they could include a lower quality set but it's clear, at this time HTC is saying "no".
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

US gets shafted on headphones. A lot of phones ship with them except the US model.
With the big deal HTC is making about their headphone sound, you'd think they'd send a pair with every device. I only own a cheap pair I barely use as I stick to Bluetooth.

When I pre-ordered, the spec sheet included them, so in my opinion they should be part of the package.

I still remember getting Beats ear buds when I bought my Rezound ages ago. Now those were nice!

Can anyone confirm? If US unlocked will grt HI-RES headphones.
I just might cancel my order if they dont have them.

I already confirmed HTC is not providing "hi-res" earphones in my previous post a few up from this.
The formal HTC Tweet was validated by Jeff Gordon.
https://twitter.com/HTCUSA/status/720763547349839873
Generally unlocked phones purchased from HTC direct do not come with earphones. Check the A9 threads, they also did not include earbuds in the "unlocked" version. A carrier version may be different but unlocked, purchased directly from HTC does not include "hi-res" earphones.

I don't understand how they could pull that honest that was actually a selling point for me
I will be reluctantly cancelling my order. Probably buy one when they are cheaper.

Take it for what it's worth but if I were you I wouldn't cancel just yet.
Wait for a bit and if it looks like shipping is delayed they'll issue accessory credits and you can buy them at no cost.
Alternatively if you used the $100 discount code you can buy a lot of headphone for 100 bucks with the money saved. If purchased at full price that's different but discounted we shouldn't really complain.

To me this phone was perfect at $599 including headphones. I want the HTC branded ones. No aftermarket.
But yeah. Ill think it over. $599 is still not a bad deal...

Agreed. It was listed out, with no exclusions listed. I'll probably call them up and harass them until they send a set. I don't even really use headphones. Its just the principle.
Plus, see attachment. They're gonna have to pay for not having everyone on the same page.

Thats kind of how I feel about it. Its not a big deal, however its the principle.
Every other OEM has some included. For the price we are paying there should be no exception.
I also preordered based on the fact that we would be getting some. [emoji35]

They probably assume people in the US can afford to buy their own headphones.
Sent from my SM-G935T using Tapatalk

Emea seems to be kinder as it seems from the screenshot that hi-res headphones will be included. This is from the UK website

Here's a clipping from the US site, no fine print saying only available in some countries.
The "spec sheet final" pdf, also no mention
and the posting on elevate, also no mention.

Why are you bothered about this "mate" htc phone? I would rather have an LG pro 2 with USA spec LTE of available, failing that I would await a the M8 Max :cyclops:
Well, I read rumors that T-Mobile was supposed to begin selling the M8 tonight after midnight. Searched the site for "HTC One" and it came up with this page:
View attachment 2650498
I clicked the link that is shown on the right side to buy my M8. It took me to this URL: https://explore.t-mobile.com/htc-one-m8
The link doesn't seem to be working right now as it only takes me to a blank page. But this is encouraging!
EDIT:
Called customer service and found out (after four or five transfers, lol) that the site probably won't be live until 12:00am Pacific Time (3:00am EST). So I'll try again in the morning.
Also, I couldn't believe the lack of knowledge of T-Mobile employees about this phone. I called a store today to see about in-store purchase date and the rep didn't even know the phone was coming out. Ditto with the last rep I talked to. She was just able to tell me that usually during system updates and for record keeping, they operate on Pacific Time. So hopefully I won't have any troubles ordering in the morning.

The price appears to be $636 for T-Mobile customers.* As always that can change, along with the release date, at any time.
As a customer on an Un-Carrier-era plan with good credit no down-payment is required and the phone cost can be spread across 24 payments with no financing fees. For those with less credit a down-payment is required and the remaining balance is spread out over the same 24 months, again without financing costs. Or just pay for it outright. In all of those cases the cost comes out to be the same, $636 plus any local taxes.
Purchasers paying in installments can also enroll in the Jump program. Simply put, in it's latest version, it's extended warranty, insurance, Lookout Premium subscription, and a trade-in guarantee after the phone has been half paid for. $10 month to be in it. Thus in a year we Jump folks can trade in our HTC One m8, after having spent as little as $342 (over the cost of just insurance) to start on the HTC One m9 with integrated hover board functionality!
I expect we'll hear more about the new HTC One on T-Mobile after the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S5 launch on the 11th. That has garnered lots of attention and is backed by Samsung's huge advertising campaigns making it the launch of the season.
*T-Mobile makes it's money as phone service provider, not as a phone seller. Thus it's phone prices are often higher for non-customers.
Well, it looks like the link I posted earlier is up and running, but it isn't an order page. It's just a page to request notification of when it will be available for sale.

I think there's one on Swappa right around $325 when I checked a few days ago. Not sure if it sold or not. I'd bet you can get around $300 before they take out their fees. You'll probably be able to get more on Craigslist depending on where you're located.

Don't see them going for a premium price as someone has already said they have a root exploit for 4.4 2 but he won't release it till Aug. So not like the phone is locked down forever. But there are idiots that will always pay more for something
Sent from my HTC6500LVW using Tapatalk
I picked mine up for $350 off Craigslist in LA. They're all going for around $350 here rooted or not. Highest I saw was 360, lowest 300.
Not much since the price of them dropped from $599 to $499. From what I see, an HTC One in good shape, maybe with a few extra accessories, can get you $400 or a little more or a little less, depending on if you have the original box/any scratches/phone and accessories in their packaging. Surprisingly I've seen HTC One Maxxs sell for $450 for ones that are in near perfect shape. With the taxes and fees that ebay and paypal add to the sellers, if you sold an HTC One for $400, you would really only see about $350 of that. I think it's a better deal if you can sell one locally, to either a friend or family member, possibly through friends on Facebook. Something that I am considering doing to my HTC One, so that I can upgrade to the HTC Maxx.
I have an HTC One that was S offed by Sonic with a java card. I have not seen any posted. I imagine that if I labeled it as " Being able to work on almost any carrier." I could probably fetch up to $450 or more for mine. With the right knowledge and understanding on this phone with it being S off / Unlocked / Rooted it really could work on any carrier. straight talk, AT&T, page plus, Viaero, Tmobile, and sprint, since I believe that it is also a worldwide phone that has all of the GSM and CDMA bands inside of it.
I didnt notice modded phones going for more. Thats part of the android experience learning the ins and outs of a new device.

headphones

So what type of headphones are needed to get value from the processing in this phone? Do simple earbuds sound any different or do you need special headphones? Also, how would this impact Bluetooth stereo headphones?
Reviews of the HTC 10 say they include premium earbubs with the phone that work with the upgraded boomsound.

Just a pair good enough to have a positive reaction to EQ (ie. a pair that won't bloat with a little added bass or have harsh highs). I'm very interested in that headphone software to get the best out of my headphones. Especially since they placed emphasis on left and right channel within the app. I'm expecting it to EQ left and right to sound equal even if your ears don't hear equally.
Bluetooth headphones would bypass the DAC and would only receive the benefit of the EQ. Not the full benefit but a benefit nonetheless.
I read that there will be headphones that will plug into the type-c input as well. I dont think from HTC but after market.

True. I'm one of the people who got pissed with the confusing advertising they have with the HTC 10. It's not just the earphones, the payment option that they're saying "preorder now 12 months no patients mo interest financing. And then when you checkout, PayPal Credit option's nowhere to be found. HTC support emailed me that the PP Credit option at checkout would be available after the preorder period. Lol. I'd would hit HTC in the back of the head it was a person.

Actually yes.
Other than die hard samsung fans they will be hard pressed to get the general public to trust them after this.
Sure the recall and replacement will cost a fortune but its loss in reputation, trust and thus massive future lost sales which will really cost them in the long run.
They will need to do something to entice consumers to purchase their devices...and that is usually done in free offers.

My opinion is that they make a huge mistake. Monster phone with monster money should not burn you and your house. Why they didnt make tests before all this?
They should not give us a gift...they shoul LOWER THE PRICE of device.
That would be fair from Samsung
I'm surprised that samsung isn't running a promotion.
