IR Blaster? - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

I don't suspect there will be, since no one seems to make them anymore, but does it have an IR blaster?
Sprint M8

Sadly no

They opted out because the majority of people do not use that feature.
I never use it so I won't miss it.

IR remotes now are being replaced with Bluetooth remotes. But would have liked to see the IR blaster not phased out.

For me it's OK, as I used it one time on my M8 and in fact never on my M9. This depends on the user of course. Just my 2 cent.

I have to admit I loved having one but sadly I never used it. All the roms I would flash... I got sick of setting it up. It will be missed but not a big deal

I use Anymote and control EVERYTHING in my house with it on my M8. Even the rotating fan has a remote.
I was hoping to get a tablet to take care of this burden, but even they don't have the ability on newer models.

The old fashioned way I suppose. Just don't do it a lot or you'll go blind

I personally I use this thing a lot. Also if I'm flashing new rom, I'm using titanium backup so I won't have to setup peel smart everytime. Very useful if you aways lose the remote ? for the TV's, audio system, air conditionin =) and etc

So true. My kids keep losing the remotes. It's nice to have all the different TVs programmed into my phone so I don't have to hunt around for them.

What of keeping your old device as a remote, for game playing and/or navigation when on the go, and your 10 for all the other brilliant stuff

That's what I thought. I researched this already.
Not sure if it actually works.

It says the IR blaster is based on the level of output of the headphone jack, and from my understanding that the headphone jack on the HTC 10 is suppose to be loud due to a dedicated amp, so if it worked it should work well. The only issue is that you would either have to keep the IR blaster plugged in at all times or find it when you need it and it isn't very big.

We could get around not losing the ir blaster when not in use by using something like this ( http://www.amazon.com/Smartphone-Ph..._cp_107_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1R3B4XGBYBXVKHZTMWRF ) connected to somthing like this ( http://www.ebay.com/itm/Female-to-F...653666?hash=item3a94914d62:g:XW4AAOxylwpR4ugb ) connected to the ir blaster attached to keys. Or if someone could find a 3.5mm jack cap that we can hook a laynard to.
Or just buy 20 ir blasters and place one everywhere.
Also here is another style ir blaster I think its lower profile and looks cool. http://www.ebay.com/itm/121870964868?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

High End "over the head" headphone

Hi, I am looking for a good headphone to use with my HTC Touch Pro and my laptop. I will use it together with rc e100 or w100.
Very good sounds
Possible to fold to fit in a big pocket.
Over the head
Nothing or not much leaking of sounds
Possible to use in light sports like heavy walking
Good for music like classics, string instrument and Rock. Ofcource a lot of others to...
Good sound when making calls both for me and the second part
Today I user a Porta Pro headphone but I would use to get better sounds and less leaking.
I have looked (on the Net) at Sennheiser PXC300. I think the PXC350 or PXC450 would be to big?
Does anyone have suggestions for me?
I'm sorry for bad english...
Plantronics 590
Everything you asked for plus stereo bluetooth so you can have great music and crystal clear conversations. I would suggest the A package vs the E package as more comes with it.
If you don't know who Plantronics are - they are the mother company of Altec Lansing. They know sound.

They are unfortunately not manufacturing any more. I have lissened to them. I think that is the best you can get from bluebooth. I have looked for simulare BT headset but can't find any. Therefor I think I have to get a wired one.
I've got an extra pair (unopened) on deck I can sell you, but you would have to pay the shipping. Also Mennesysis wrote a great piece on Bluetooth A2DP headsets here on XDA. Search it and it should pop up.

Playing FM without Headset..any mod?

Dear Friends,
I searched a lot for mod playing FM Radio without Headset.
Please if you know the solution reply.
Thanks for making such a nice forum..
lol.. if they make a mod to include antenna in ur phone itself you'll be able to use it.. till then plug in your headphones as they work as an antenna
simple answer is that u can only dream of playing it without headphones
Sent from my One V
Cut the Jack connector from broken headphones, just 4 cm cable and you have mini antenna.
Sorry for my English
Do this
As described by R3nn3K do this ...(IMAGE)
SORRY for the low image quality
ok I LOL'd @ the above.
Anyways, buy wired speakers for your phone. They'll double as the antenna and an audio output (something you'll be missing with the above) and you won't need to wear headphones.
Personally, I use the Altec T515s (had them forever) and they work great. Their best function is bluetooth functionality, but they support "Line-In" and come with a cable to plug your phone directly into the speakers (giving you the needed headset functionality to make the FM radio work).

Wow, grats on obtaining the power of resurrection, cause you sure resurrected this dead thread.
And while TuneIn Radio (the correct name of the app you're trying to mention) does work (so long as you don't mind the 30-45 second delay behind the actual station) the OP did ask about using the pre-installed FM Radio app (which has no delay or extra ads) w/o needing headphones.
Which was dumb in itself. Who uses a radio without an antenna?
Anyways, necro posting is sexy!

Guys FM radio without handset mod exists for Moto Defy. It is available on this forum. I have used it and the phone does not have any external antenna. And that also had an option to switch between headset and speaker. Unfortunately we do not have it for HTC One.

[Q] Does the Smartwatch 3 have an infrared blaster?

Hi everyone, just got a SS3 and it's easily the best Android Wear device out. I'm curious though -- does it have an IR blaster?
There were numerous reports that the Smartwatch 3 included an infrared emitter/blaster. However, I don't see an IR port on the device and it seems pretty clear it does not have this functionality. Can anyone confirm?
I did several searches through the SS3 forums and nothing turned up, so I assume no one else has asked this question.
Nope not that I know of.

No problem. Yeah I wasn't aware of that. I don't think any current smartwatch has that feature. Definitely would be nice though. Maybe in the next version of the Sony Smartwatch.

IIRC Gear 2 Neo and Gear 2 have IR functionality. Maybe even the original Gear has it. It's weird that the Gear Live didn't include it, but it's likely because Android Wear doesn't seem to support IR functionality at present.

Htc one m9 ir blaster?

Guys just a very quick question, does the new M9 come with a IR transmitter and receiver or only a transmitter? Is it still possible for the M9 blaster to learn new IR signals ?

Maybe a software issue? Mine certainly learned signals using the Peel remote app that came on the phone

Anymote told me their app can record on the M9, that was one of the deciding factors for me to upgrade from my M7. I have a lot of devices that aren't in any code database, and the IR receiver has become invaluable to me.
So it works for you on the M9?
I See in tha app descriptoin: RECORD REMOTES - exclusive to the HTC One due to hardware limitations in other devices.
Could be any One device offcourse

This is not called learn new signal. The Device-section is a set of preset signal. What he meant was learn signals directly from the remote you have. Because sometimes the app does not have your device's brand/signal. Happened to me when i tried on my Fujisu air-conditioner and non of the signals worked.

It does work. Tested it out after I got the phone. However, I haven't seen any other apps besides the one I use that can do it, and last time I checked the app is I think $10. The way I see it, that's still less than a low end universal remote that CAN'T learn signals, but most Android users seem to be entitled jerks who think everything on the app store should be free, so whether or not you're willing to pay for it is your only limitation here.

That's anymote I believe. I also purchased it when I used it ALL THE TIME on my galaxy gear 2 watch. Its got codes for devices I never would have thought of controlling with a phone. I will also say that response from the developers was quick but they were also extremely rude and accused me of having a pirated copy somehow? I didn't have a fake copy obviously otherwise I wouldn't have contacted them for help! Haha either way we got it sorted and they found the code for a device I was having difficult with.

I was disappointed with the removal of the IR Blaster, I loved it on the SGS4, M8 and M9.
However, looking back I can count the number of times I used it on each device. It was great to have when needed, but just that, when needed and that wasn't much.
It's not something that was a game changer when choosing the device for me.
I'd like to have it and would consider checking out something like the above for when I may need it. (however the shipping said up to 55 days, with no tracking.. I'd like to find an alternative site to purchase from)

There are better 3.5mm ir blasters that work. And some advice, if you are buying the 10, go for the silver or red variant, the black one is so prone to scrathing and paint chiping. Other than that, the phone is great, you won't regret it.
I have a similar IR blaster but is far away from the functions and precision from my previous M9 and M7. It uses an app called ZaZa Remote which hasn't the features that Peel has like the shows that are passing in the moment.
It also have precision issues and the distance range is very poor. You need to disable Dolby Audio in order to work "properly".
I wouldn't recommend it but considering cheapness of the device and that is the only option, go ahead and try it yourself, maybe you have more luck than me.
