Wiped Internal Everything, External SDcard won't mount (Showing 0mb) no adb detected - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I was trying to clean flash CM13. I wiped everything and went to maneuver to my external sdcard and lo and behold it isn't mounting. I take it out, back it up, format it. It still isn't showing up. Help. I have no OS installed, I can't push anything in download mode through adb. Please please please I feel stupid as can be.

Yes, my Ext SD won't show in TWRP even though I was just fine transferring files right before booting to recovery.

I had the same exact problem. after I Unlocked the BL and SuperSu and TWRP through Odin I had no access to mine either. It started bootlooping due to kernel panic. I couldn't ABD push or ABD sideload. I just flashed N910VVRU2BPA1_N910VVZW2BPA1_N910VVRU2BPA1_HOME.tar through Odin and redid the Unlock process over again. there is also a kind of One Click method by jrkruse. I've not tried it yet myself. I did use his method on my GS5 though and it worked great.
A quick tip that I learned the hard way is to put any files you will need on your internal storage on your device. once you get all this done and get back to unlock BL and root i can help ya with the ext SD problem.
Good luck...

Alright, so how do I get the SDcard to show up in TWRP?

The next step will only work if you have installed Xposed Framework.
NOTE:
If you are someone who does not like or just doesn't choose to have Xposed installed, then this step will not work.
Lets go,
1.) Install Xposed Framework
2.) Download and install Wanap Xposed module
3.) Activate the module and reboot.
4.) Open Wanam and go to security hacks and check the box for SDcard RW permission, then reboot.
There may be other ways of going about the sd write/mount fix, but this method worked for me.

So..... what is the fix for the SD problem? And what is the next step? ....

I have the same issue, SD Card works fine while booted, but TWRP cannot mount it. It doesn't even see it. I'm confused, because DerangedLoofah acted as if it worked XD and then suddenly asks how to get it to show up ._.
Apparently I'm very confused.
EDIT: Seems doing the same thing I originally did (Reformating my SD card) worked. It just needed to be formatted again.. What even?

I had the same problem. What I did was using my computer, reformat my SD card to exFAT, and then back to FAT32. I could then flash CM13 from the SD through TWRP.

[Q] 5110 won't boot after 4.2.2 installation & Xposed activation

So I installed the deodexed 4.2.2 ROM for my 5110 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2367839). It installed fine, and rebooted fine. But after getting everything set up the way I went into Xposed and switched on the modules I wanted, then went to reboot -- now my beloved Note 8 is stuck on at the SAMSUNG page after rebooting.
I'm ready to go back and restore 4.1.2, but I can't get TWRP to see the external SD card where the backups are stored.
Any help there?
Thanks in advance,

I thought the Xposed disabler was only for CW and wouldn't run under TWRP -- maybe I was wrong? Getting it on to the tablet when TWRP refuses to acknowledge the presence of an external SD card is a problem, though. But thanks anyway.
I solved the problem by simply reflashing the 4.2.2. (which happened to still be in internal memory) all over again. But it's obvious that Xposed or one of its modules doesn't play nice with the 4.2.2. Android release for the Note 8. I deleted Xposed and its modules from my tablet after I got access back. Too bad, it did add some nice useful functions, but I'm not taking any more chances with it.

You don't have to go that far, copy this file to your SD Card http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1619566&d=1361912360
(File from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401)
And "install" the zip in your recovery, it will disable Xposed and your tab should fire up.

The problem is that TWRP refuses to acknowledge the presence of an external SD card, even though the choice is checked in the "Mount" menu of TWRP. Without that there is no way to get new files onto the tablet's internal storage. Even ADB won't work (Im guessing the tablet hangs before the usb port is activated, or whatever).
Luckily the 4.2.2 installation file was still in internal storage, so I just reflashed it and got around a very sticky situation, and then promptly got rid of Xposed and its associated modules. Shame, but I'm not taking any chances.
We really need a fixed version of TWRP that sees externalSD.

I found a workaround!!!
I booted into recovery and while TWRP was initializing I plugged in an OTG cable with a thumb drive connected. TWRP didn't see the OTG drive, but it DID see the external SD card all of a sudden.
Go figure.

Thanks for the response --- I followed the thread -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2784900 for rooting my phone --- do you have any advise to re-root? or diff. way to root our phone... I checked root checker and it appears normal but you might be correct.
Try this method

Best solution for rooting but firstly install new rom 4.4.4 unbranded generic and try this method this is one click method from @munjeni my favorite method. After that you will have root and buaybox and recovery. And after this flash again sdfix and try to move sth to exsd

You can try what mosespl mentioned, or you can try easy root tool again (that's what I used and it worked the first time). I saw a lot of people in the easy root tool thread were "half" rooted, or things appear to be rooted but SuperSU failed up update binaries because r/w on system was missing (or something like that, I'm a bit new to all this as well).

try flash this patch in recovery to disable RIC if your rom support init.d ... if not, you can also use script manager to give it(99diasbleric) ROOT permission and set it to run at boot.

Test your old sdcard with a card reader on PC to check if the card is real defective.
Yesterday I put a microsd in z1c and it just can't mount but the card just working fine in windows. At last, I used a USB OTG Cable to connect the card reader with the microsd card and z1c asked me to format it this time and the sd card working fine after that.

SD Card not writeable - the usual fixes aren't working

I know this is a common thing, and I'm used to dealing with it myself just fine - but this iteration has me completely stumped. I'm on RR, Sprint firmware, have everything working perfectly, except SD card is not writeable. I can move things around in Solid Explorer, but I can't use TiBu or any other app that writes to it. Rom Toolbox wouldn't let me change permissions, I messed around with SuperSU, it appears that my root is working fine just the SD card being lame. This is the first time I've dealt with this on the 10.
Any ideas what I can do?

NEED HELP! Cant/Denied access internal/emulated storage

i wanted to install new stock rom from here but fastboot wont install it so i went to twrp and tried to flash it from there but during flashing twrp just rebooted itself and saying installation wasnt sucessful, i figured this is due to S-On but prior to flashing it i did possibly the stupidest thing, i went to ADVANCED WIPE and wiped every option on the list(dalvik, system, data, internal storage, cache) except for micro sdcard ofcourse. i then went to FIX PERMISSIONS and stupidly select the ALSO FIX SELINUX CONTEXTS. when those done i then went and install another image which is on the sdcard that i downloaded from here E9pw_Android5.0_Sense70_E1.zip . the installation went well and rebooted itself and got to the homescreen and whatnot. but the troubles came when i tried to install apps from playstore and it gave me all kind of errors known to man, even going into file manager to access the internal storage gave me problem it says something along ACCESS IS DENIED or CANT ACESSS EMULATED OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. when i opened chrome to download something the browser just crashed because apparently it wont able to access the emulated storage. yeah i fcked up badly here. dont know whatelse to do.
see below of the files that i currently have in my external microsd card:
E9pw_Android5.0_Sense70_E1.zip -WORKS
open gapps arm64 android 5.0 stock
RUU 0PJXIMG_A55ML_DTUL_L50_SENSE70_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.35.7 07.2 - DONT WORK
0PJXIMG_A55ML_DTUL_L50_SENSE70_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.35.7 07.2 - DONT WORK
Thanks!
Got it fixed! by going to TWRP-->WIPE-->FORMAT DATA and reinstall the ROM. if anybody experiencing the same problem please do the same.

Question, Galaxy a50 broke internal storage after flashing TWRP

Hey there,
I have the Galaxy a50 SM-A505Fn and I just broke my internal storage by flashing TWRP and Multidisabler.
First, I should note that I am completely blind, so I use TWRP with ADB in CMD.
First I tried to root my phone with a patched boot image, using Magisc, but that didn't work, so I switched to TWRP.
After flashing it with Odin and booting into the recovery, my pc saw it as Galaxy A50 and the folders inside it were literal giberish and I couldn't paste anything in it, so I switched to a micro SD to flash Disabler and that worked surprisingly well.
Note, I did the wiping before that.
After the disabler worked, I rebooted into TWRP and used the command to reboot into recovery, as I was instructed, then the phone booted up just fine.
I set it up, and gained root with Magisc manager, but after connecting it to the PC to get the sound files I wanted to change it was still giberish and didn't let me make folders or paste anything into it.
The card also looked like it had the internal storage files like you would see on any phone, it had like 256 KB used on it from 2 gb it is formated at since I used it for a pi before and didn't have time to fix the capacity on it back to 64, but again you can't put anything onto it while in the phone.
Any help on how to make it work like normal?
Also apps don't see the storage properly either, so I can't use it for the reasons I rooted it for.
Thanks a lot.
After reading about it, it seems that the storage is encripted.
I managed to flash Infinity os on it, but the thing doesn't talk since it is missing text to speech, so I wanted to flash a zip to make it talking.
After rebooting into twrp, again, still encripted.
Got the zip onto my card, but doesn't flash, which is fine since that can be fixed, but I can't really do anything to fix it.
Does anyone know the command to format data?
twrp format data doesn't work like in the TWRP guide.
Any ideas?

Did that already, that is how I flashed a rom on it, but was still encripted.
The rom said that there is a problem with my device, but it set up just fine.
I am back on ful stock right now and it decripted, I might try it again in some time.
The only things I want from root is to be able to change system sounds, to add haptic feedback which I already did and tweak it so it works faster.
If I could change the sounds without root and without event sound that would be awesome and would let me stay on stock.

Good thing you got it decrypted back again, i have had kind of the same issue with internal storage decreasing drastically multiple times, as far as i understood it happens when i install patched AP with magisk then install multidisabler and reboot it without formatting the whole device, maybe try that when your root next time to get past the internal storage issue. Note that mine was in android 9 and device storage was not encrypted unlike yours.
And as a suggestion, if there's someone near you who can help you with actually rooting your device with magisk rather than TWRP it will be much easier.

I've got the patched image for AP from a friend, also patched TWRP, but it did that after flashing auto disabler and wiping everything, so I still don't get it.
Anyway, it is back for now and I will have to see if it breaks next time I install twrp on it.
