Gaming performance on CM13 - Sony Xperia M

So i've cm13 and been trying out some games like Vain Glory (which is awesome by the way) but the thing is it hangs and random frame rate drops i wonder if its the issue with Rom or does anybody has any idea like kernel tweaks etc to improve performance of modern games .Also i found GPU over clock option in NUI kernel is that really a good idea ?i mean does it work and even if it does how will be the heating scenario ?

LT15i Custom kernels performance

Hi, first at all i want to say that i tested nearly every rom & kernel combinations and still i'm not satisfied with the performance. Overall device is performing better (i'm running @1,4GHz - Stock Plus & DoomKernels 15-20) and in 3D heavy games framerate is higher for sure, but there's a lot of stuttering and sometimes games are unplayable (for example Backstab and Asphalt 6 with annoying one sec stuttering). On stock kernel game (Backstab) is running without any performance issues (only few dropped frames when there's a high draw distance) and the device itself is running "only" at 1GHz. Now something about DoomKernel - interface is not running smoothly (with simple 3D live wallpaper but 2d is ok) and i can give you another gaming example with MC3 - main menu is running at ~20 fps (and game itself is also stuttering) and on stock kernel/stock plus it's much smoother. So there is any fix for my problem or it's something wrong with my arc or what . Stock kernel by Sony > custom kernels? Something is wrong here... Thanks in advance and pardon about my english .
try playing on performance governor
I played with governors with no result ;(

okay, now i'm gonna "stress test" every single governor available in kernel ; d
Bump!
I've added a video :<

Have you tried Stockplus Kernel? It's based on DoomKernel but has a lot of changes and tweaks. Some people report better results with it when compared to DoomKernel.

[Q] Best kernel for gaming

On stock kernel battery is fantastic and everything is stable, but playing games like wildblood and asphalt 7 - you notice little lags here and there.
Has anyone come across a kernel or a mod to improve performance while gaming?

Asphalt 7 lags on every kernel. Try Perseus and next time post in troubleshooting section

Asphalt7 lag because of the crappy gameloft optimization no kernel will fix it :silly::silly:
stay with EA games at least they are more optimized
edit : look at the difference O_O

Frame drops and weird lag

Hello fellas
I have enjoyed my s4 mini for about 9 months i have played alot of game without lags and so
but since i updated my s4 mini to 4.4.2 i get weird lags ( fifa 14, when i run it suddenly stops running either with fps games) before the update i had seriously no problems, and GTA SA framedrops like s**t before this update i had no problems not even a lag on medium high settings (after some missions i had little bit frame drop problems but is playable)
this issue is driving me crazy like hell
does anyone have any solution??
i wish you a nice day fellas
friendly regards:good:
Guys
I did a hard reset but it didnt solve the problem unfortunately
It was a waste of time and lost some important stuff
However is there anyone who can help me with this performance/what ever lag
My gf is having the same problem. I think I'm going to install a custom ROM on her S4 mini and see if the problems are gone.
I've always had lag problems with this device. It's annoying that it lags in games that run perfectly fine in phones with lower specs. Especially 2d games like zombie tsunami, impossible game and so on.
I think the problem is very poor optimization; If an higher clock frequency is forced, games run fine. atm I'm on XXUBNB3 firmware (4.2.2), arco's kernel because of the battery problem, and I set trickster mod app to apply at boot these kernel settings:
ondemand (stock governor)
down_differential 13
sampling_down_factor 10
up treshold 42
other values all stock
It MAY help seeder app too. Games STILL stutter sometimes, but WAY less than before. You can try these settings with stock kernel too... Of course root is still needed.
Battery consumption will be higher, but I'm still able to reach 4 hours of screen on (even 6 w/out data, wifi only)

Laggy homescreen and gaming

The homescreen is quite noticeably not a smooth 60fps, it stutters and with the overlay enabled in developer settings, can see the framerate drops alot. Especially in freestyle layout mode. Also a lot of games stutter and don't run at a smooth framerate - for example monument valley. Does anyone else get this? Im on stock rom latest update

This is completely dependent on your OS, applications, widgets on screen, running apps, cpu state and the speed you're using your device.. If its really congested and you're running a tonne of apps then you'll perhaps have some slow downs, if you're using a custom kernel and you've lowered the up cpu threshold then that will too have an impact, honestly I'd leave it on stock and minimise the amount of widgets (especially lives ones) you have on your desktops, anything with transparency will have an impact too.
Gaming wise, I have to say this phone is rock solid.
The only game that it couldn't run is dolphin which is a gamecube emulator, running zelda the windwaker.
But I think that's down to optimization rather that anything else.
What set up do you have? Custom rom? Stock? Kernel? Lots or not a lot of apps?
my runs smooth on games, emulators, home screens, videos, taking and recording pictures and video, everything. ive been very happy with its performance, completely stock and running custom roms on my Verizon Variant, viper is my favorite now after last few updates.
I'm also satisfied with my HTC 10 performance, runs smooth (everything stock), but I notice that some games are a bit laggy (like Realracing 3, even if I lower the resolution to FullHD in the Boost+ app).
I wonder if I would get better framerates with the CleanSlate kernel that has Adrenoboost feature, but I'm not to keen on rooting my device because then you can't install OTA updates anymore.
Im running on the stock rom straight from the box, no custom rom or everything
, every game I have tried so far runs awful, massive framerate drops with or without boost. I have compared my framerate in asphalt 8 to this video, with an fps counter, and I get much worse framerates, usually around low 20s, dropping to teens. I don't have powersaving enabled

Anything in HTC's ROM seems to cripple Adrenoboost of the GPU. While on other devices it works perfectly and is reaching up to 60 fps, it doesn't on the HTC 10. It doesn't bother me, as I'm not a heavy gamer, but if you're in need to change it, you could use a custom kernel, as e.g. CleanSlate by @tbalden.

I hope HTC fixes that with some OTA.
Anyway, would the High performance mode in the developer options help the framerate?

As I'm on Viper10, Stock, pnp thermal tweak, or Viper 10 and CleanSlate Kernel. So I can't tell if it would work. The CleanSlate kernel fixes the problem quite well, so I'll use it until HTC maybe fixed the issue as long as I'm gaming and the other config I'll use as my daily driver.

Can anyone that has no custom rom test the framerate on the first map of asphalt 8 and report back?

Do u use sd card
If yes which class, coz i noticed that it can slow the device
I hope htc support team improve the performance and fix the lag issues by updates.
This is an awful bug .May htc solve this in the android 7 update .
Slow SD card like someone else said.
Try it without one.
Maybe your hardware is faulty in some way.
Also try to set all clocks to a constant maximum. So you see if you have the power or not.
Maybe a fake device?

Problems with AOSP ROMs performance in game

I tried some non miui based ROMs and any of that I have a poor gaming performance.(Tested Brawl Stars) The game lags a lot, something around 20fps, have anyone noticed that? Maybe a fix? Cause it's definitely not a hardware problem, works pretty well on MIUI and MIUI.EU(60fps), and also not a high graphics game.
I'm on ViperOS right now
