Firestarter and Llama broken after latest amazon update - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello I have a Gen1 Firetv and a gen1 FireTV Stick. Both are not rooted, but I have installed LLama and Firestarter to launch Kodi.
Originally I had llama configured to launch kodi by click on the ikonoTV icon, but it stopped working. I then switched to firestarter and configured it to launch Kodi by double clicking the Home button. Firestarter worked great for a long time. But now with the latest system update, firestarter keeps getting removed after reboots. Even if I reinstall it and configure it again, without a reboot, it now also will not respond to the double click of the home button...
Does anyone know of another way to put a kodi icon on the homescreen or a double click option like I had working?
Thanks!

Anybody??

Same problem…. There's a complicated way to rename the firestarter app but I can't do it…requires a windows PC. If you google firestopper xdadevelopers theres a discussion on it.
Hoping something better comes out. As far as I know there noting else yet...

[Q] Firetv XBMC Issues

Whenever I exit XBMC and try to stream from Netflix, Amazon or Plex I get error messages that it cannot play. I have to force close XBMC for anything else to work. This is the 2nd device that has done this. Is anyone else having this issue and is there a fix?

I sometimes get this like once or twice a week. when it happens, I run es task manager and kill spmc/xbmc if it's running, and kill any other running apps that aren't being used. this seems to fix it.
although I think it really only happens when, instead of quitting xbmc with the xbmc-bottom-left-power-button-thing, I press the remote's home button and skip right to the home page.

Netflix, WatchESPN get stuck at 99% and needs reboot to watch.

Hello,
I have a newest pre rooted rom on my FireTV with XBMC running the newest Netflix app (White Icon with red letters).
I am using FiredTV for a launcher and tend to use XBMC, Netflix, WatchESPN, and Slingplayer Tablet. I have been having a problem where the video won't play on certain apps and the circle keep spinning.
XBMC always works for videos. However NETFLIX, WatchESPN will get stuck especially if the FireTV has shut off. I need to reboot the FireTV to get these apps to work again. Shutting down the app and reopening it has no effect.
Also SlingPlayer will load SD quality but once I put HQ quality it won't show any video. A reboot is needed to fix it.
Anyone have this problems also?
Is there a way to get the FireTV to reboot daily automatically?
exit/close your xbmc before using espn or netflix app

Yup that solved my problem by closing XBMC.
closing xbmc (actually running spmc) works for netflix....but i am still having issues with sling tv. i get stuck on buffering until i reboot the fire tv. anyone else seeing this?
Slingtv software is still in very beta stages. Firetv app doesnt get updated as much as the android and pc versions.
On firetv.
Slingtv regularly closes sometimes.
When that issue is happening test it on android and check if the same is happening. sometimes the service just laggeds down as a whole.
Slingtv is working better for me with latest update and on USB/HDD. also slingtv requires is disk space intensive.

SPMC Isengard on Fire TV compatibility issues.

I just installed the new release of spmc 15 isengard and it is running very inconsistent. It often freezes on the homescreen and if I jump to the amazon home screen and then try to go back sometimes it will give me a blank grey screen and require either a force stop or a restart. Has anyone else tried this or even the standard version of kodi isengard as I think they are pretty close to the same thing at this point.
I've been running standard Kodi 15.0 with PlexBMC in the Amber skin for a week or so, so far no issues.

Did you install it and just do a fresh install or did you restore your previous setup? I think the problem happens when I restore my setup after a few freezes and restarts and everything is fully updated it seems to stop. It still gives me an issue launching the sacrificial app with llama however.
It was a fresh install, not a restore.
Yup, the oem version of Isengard is laggy on the box and stick...I had a flawless Kodi setup before I upgraded...

Problems with xposed using kodi as homescreen.

I have a few rooted boxes and I use xposed to use spmc as my homescreen. My issue is that after about a few months of use the device will just randomly start loading to a grey screen. It is at this point that I have to mess around with the voice control button on the remote and unplug the wifi etc to get it back to the main amazon screen then force stop kodi and relaunch it. I am not sure what causes this issue but it can be quite a hassle getting the amazon screen back when I use kodi as the default launcher and the screen gets stuck on this grey screen. I've even had to do a restore on some, luckily i have rbox bootloader on my boxes or I would probably never be able to get back to it. Does anyone have this issue and know of a remedy?

Kodi Closing when FireTV Sleeps

I apologize if this not the correct forum for this post. I tried the Kodi.tv forums and no one seems to be having this issue.
I'm have a FireTV v1 running 5.2.1.1 (no updates since Aug). I am also running Kodi 16.1
Up until a few days ago, Kodi would always stay open even when the FireTV went to sleep. When I woke up the FireTV, Kodi was still open and updated with any new content.
Over the past few days (nothing changed as far as I am aware), when the FireTV sleeps, Kodi exits. I have to reopen Kodi and wait for it to load and sync. This is not a desirable behavior.
Any thoughts on why this may have happened and what I might do to remedy it?
Thanks
My first thought is don't let the box sleep.

mine does this as well. Its a gen 1 on the newest firmware, so jailbreaking isnt currently an option. I have two of these, and one doesnt have the behavior at all. Id really like to fix the one closing out of kodi.
