What is the region/carrier number for unlocked units shipping to USA? - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

EDIT: Looks like it is 617.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...9&postcount=93
I understand the third set of numbers in a version number indicates the region or carrier. For example, in 1.30.401.1, 401 indicates the Europe version.
I found a list of codes for the HTC one X phone, and I'm wondering if these numbers will be the same for the HTC 10.
I'm curious what region/carrier number the unlocked HTC 10's shipping to the USA will have. Surely they won't be 401 since the USA model has different radio band support, right?

Depends. If Britestar WWE branded then it'll be .1540. Or could still be .401.
617 should be carrier specific.

The M9 and A9 were both 617, but the older models were 1540.

But you're probably right about it being 1540, since ATT is out of the picture with the 10.

Good catch, didn't realize they changed it from 1540 to 617.
I am happily corrected

I think it's still possible it's going back to 1540, though. If you download the M9 and A9 ruus they have ATT in the rom name. The M8 and older have Brightstar. Since ATT is out on this device, I think 1540 is a possibility.

Looks like it is 617.

EDIT: but maybe not? Maybe that was taken from a Verizon version?
ro.aa.customizationid=3042768
ro.aa.romver=1.21.617.3
ro.aa.project=PERFUME_WL_M60_SENSE80GP_VZW
EDIT2: Nope, that is a USA unlocked regardless of the VZW in the project string.

All verizon models have .605 for the third number... Sprint would be .651

Will this work with 3 Mobile in Australia?

I can stand Telstra and as they are only available in Australia via Telstra, i want to purchase one outright. I want to know if anyone knows if this phone will work well on the 3 network.
The unlocked HTC desire will work on any network in Australia (not as good on telstra). I'm getting mine from clove on the 7th . Plussss, it's ALOT cheaper getting it imported from the UK, all up it comes to like $550 if i can remember right. It will be around $800 outright from Telstra.
P.S i forgot to mention that you can't get it from t-mobile, you'll have to wait for the unlocked version.

I'm pretty sure all of the T-Mobile ones are unlocked . Check with others on the forums. T-mobile is probably not an option anyway unless you have a UK address- I dont think they sell them outright??
Will definitely work on 3mobile Australia. I'm also getting one from clove. I'm checking about every hour to see if they have brought the shipping date forward
T-Mobile ones are LOCKED.
Both versions will work on Three, but the International version will not work on Telstra

by International I mean the sim-free/unlocked ones from Handtec/Clove etc

Ive asked for clarification of that from wiki mod. I don't see why you couldn't use NextG. Unless the APac model is different from the AU model, they all support the same bands.
Do you know any reason why NextG differs from other 850 networks? Not that I care - Id rather cut my arm off with a rusty saw than go on a telstra plan. Just curious, thats all.

Flash stock rom from another region?

I received my one x from Singapore today, and it works great. I'm curious, though, is it possible to flash a stock rom from somewhere else in the world (the UK maybe) onto it? Are the radio firmwares from other places in the world any better for AT&T US than the stocker?
--Matt
very interested in knowing the same thing. In fact my phone was messed with when i bought it but i'm told it was from singapore originally can someone tell me how to find out where it's from. And I'd like stock rom from other places if possible.
No, its not possible. You have to flash only the RUU which has the CID number matching your device. Every device released on to your country will have a common CID.
@op, Is your device from At&t, if so it wasn't one x, its a one xl just named as AT&T one x. Differed in the processor s4 and tegra3.

To find out where it's from get the CID and google it. You can narrow it down which region is your phone from.

No. Like I said, it's from Singapore. I'm just using it on AT&T's network.

If I buy a One X now...

how would I possibly know whether I will be able to flash the recent JB roms? Is it safe to say that all the stock available now have the right CIDs?
I am jumping ship from Samsung and this seems like the sweet spot for Android right now, especially weighing bang for the buck. I hope this is not a noob question.
Thanks in advance to my new community hopefully.
CIDs are regional. You need a phone destined for Western Europe and unbranded.
Basically you'd need to buy an unbranded phone from within Europe to get one with a compatible CID.

So if I bought an unlocked "global" one from Negri for instance I assume that would suffice. Right? Link -- http://negrielectronics.com/htc-one-x-32gb-unlocked-black.html#.UIhOK8WHJkY
I wonder why it shows the old "Market" app instead of the new Play Store.
old market, on what rom?

Clarification on M9 versioning and such

I have a T-Mobile HTC One M9 and I have a few questions. Coming from an iPhone, and previously a Nexus 5, I'm not really familiar with different editions and how HTC does it. So here are my questions:
1. Does every edition (TMo, VZW, ATT, etc) have the same hardware but a different identifier somewhere in a software component?
2. Is it possible for me to "convert" my T-Mobile model into a "generic" one (developer, bought from HTC) without losing OTA capability?
3. What's the WWE edition?
4. What fun can I have with S-OFF?
Anyone who can answer these would have my eternal gratitude! Thank you!

as far as your first question yes, all the varients are the same hardware wise

Are you sure?
I've checked the websites of various carriers, and the list different radio bands.

Anyone in Australia have Nougat?

So after some uneventful conversations on the HTC live chat, I'm wondering if any of you have an unlocked HTC 10 from Australia and have the nougat update?

It started rolling out about a week and a half ago. Are you rooted? If so you won't get an OTA update. You'll need to update manually
I'm not. To my knowledge I have a stock ROM as I got this handset from JB.

Would this be an Optus OTA? To my knowledge, Telstra and Vodafone haven't released any comms about Nougat update for the HTC 10 while Optus was testing both the M9 and 10 earlier this month. M9 was definitely listed as released but 10 was still marked as being tested earlier this week.

As I understand it, JB HiFi was selling phones with either Optus or Vodafone firmware. Mine's from JB too and is on 1.95.710.3 which I understand to be the Vodafone version.
Optus update status states 'Testing Android 7.0 update and VoLTE – completion expected late February':
https://yescrowd.optus.com.au/t5/Blog/Android-Software-Updates-16-02-2017/ba-p/198463
UPDATE: Actually, Vodafone has HTC 10 listed as well as "Testing complete, awaiting feedback from HTC", hopefully that doesn't mean a long wait.

JB sold an unlocked handset which I am with on the Optus network. I am on 1.95.710.3 as well. I was under the impression that HTC sends the software to unlocked devices first specifically, and then to carriers who then distribute it for the optus devices. Would I be correct in assuming that?

That's usually the case though I'm not entirely sure about the nature of our firmware (mine's the same as yours) - is it a true unbranded retail or an unlocked carrier version? I know the Moto Razr I had in the past was an unlocked Vodafone handset.

Im not sure. I would be more inclined to go unbranded retail but again, Im not certain.
Bump.
My HTC 10 is right now in the process of downloading 2.42.710.2 (1.19Gb) OTA. It's this one:
http://ausdroid.net/2017/02/27/nougat-update-htc-10-now-rolling-vodafone-customers/
Got it as well!
Installed here too.. however no live wallpapers. I personally hate all the default graphics on the HTC10 so in MM had a Sony live wallpaper which I liked.
Anyone else here have issues with live wallpapers?
