[Q] International Battery vs Korean Battery? - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I bought a Galaxy Note 2 from S. Korea in my visit but now I am back in my country and having problems with my battery. So naturally, I thought how can I replace my battery. However, when I take a quick look on the google I realized international version of battery and Korean version of battery have different code names as;
Int : EB595675LA
Kor : EB595675LK
and I am wondering is there anyone tried the international battery on Korean SHV-E250* phones? Is it compatible ? Otherwise, I would have to pay 4 times to order from S. Korea.
Thanks

They look the same and same volts so most likely they are 100% the same just different model numbers.

are also the Amp's the same?

Will the Korean Galaxy Note's Battery work on the Global version?

I am about to buy an Galaxy Note from Australia which will be the Global GSM version.
I was wanting to buy a few accessories from Korea since it would be cheaper and I would have a bit more to choose from.
But since the hardware on the Korean version(LTE + Snapdragon) and the Global version(GSM + exynos) is a bit different, was wondering if something like a battery would still be the same so I can use it in my Global version.
Also, could someone please let me know if the dimensions are the same?
(for cases, screen protectors etc?)
Yes, the battery dimensions are the same. All the GNote's batteries are the same and all are 2500mAh. As for the dimensions, I am not exactly sure. I am guessing since Note LTE has the same specs as the Canadian and U.S Notes, it would be .35mm thicker than the N7000, so it would be a hair off, the case would work.

Battery for Int'l and AT&T version - can I use one with the other?

I have not seen the seller selling the original battery for the Int'l version of the Note (N7000), however there are some that sell original battery for the AT&T version. However, they noted that the AT&T version is not compatible with the Int'l version.
I am thinking that the AT&T version can be used for the Int'l version, so I emailed on of the seller and their response is:
Both the international Note and the US version of the Note are constructed a
bit differently. The battery for the international version is different
than the battery for the US version. Not sure if it is to accommodate the
voltage difference of the wall chargers but I hear from the customers that
the batteries are different and not interchangable. The Note battery we
sell is for the U.S. ATT Note SGH-i717 only and will not work on the Samsung
Note N7000.
So it seems that there is an issue with charging the battery, judging by what this seller's customer reported? Can anyone provide insight on this?
My goal is to buy ORIGINAL Samsung battery, so I don't have to deal with quality or incompatibility issue and ended up damaging my Int'l Note, which have NO Samsung US warranty. If the AT&T version can be used in my Int'l version, I can buy one from an AT&T store!
NOTE: I used to have a Nokia phone a while back and I use 3rd party battery (non Nokia battery) and it damaged my phone, so I don't want to go through the same thing again.
I use both with no problems!

Think about it this way:
Compatible means physical size, shape, electrical contacts, and voltage and charging are the same.
What you are worried about is crappy chemistry, poor quality of manufacturing, or other poor design. Which is not an issue with any OEM battery.
Go to ATT store, pull the battery, read the ratings and compare their size and shape. If they match, you are golden.

I did order one of the AT&T Note batteries for my N7000 international Note. Both batteries look identical. After several charges with the new battery, it doesn't seem to function any differently either.
So if you want a second battery, proceed with one for the AT&T Note.
Best is to check part numbers if present.
One thing I know is that in the I777, I9100 batteries wouldn't work - the I777 specifically checked the ID resistor (the pin between + and -) for a value that was different from I9100 batteries - but with the I777, NFC was in the battery.
In the I717, NFC is in the battery door instead of the battery.

i9300 and SGH-i747 Same Battery Type..?

Hey guys,
Just wondering if the battery for the i9300 version, and the SGH-i747 model is the same battery? If I buy a battery that has i9300 on the back will it work on my i747 model? When sellers list compatible devices, the i9300 is one of them, but the i747 isn't so just wondering. Thanks.
My battery number is also EB-L1G6LLA and most of the batteries I'm finding are EB-L1G6LLU is that also okay with the i747 model?
Yes they are the same

I'm currently looking into this myself. I normally buy my batteries off of eBay without problem. However, this time I rushed when I did and just purchased batteries for the Galaxy S3 without doing the comparison for Canadian model to US. I received a battery for my Telus GS3 which is the SGH-i747M, but the battery was for the i9300. I decided to try it anyway because they are pretty much the same phone.
My results:
- the phone works just fine
- battery life is approx 1/2 (4 hours normal usage - for me, 10% drain per hour in stand-by)
- OEM battery does not charge with the wall charger I received with the batteries
Has anyone else run into this situation? I'm thinking I might try again but with the proper specs (ie not rush), but if I can get an answer before I spend more cash, it would be better!
Cheers,
Chris
they ARE NOT THE SAME!!!! WARNING!
eb-l1g6llu vs eb-l1g6lla----- im going thru the same thing and this is what ive found out/learned,, the eb-l1g6llu is a crappy "replacement" sure it fits and chargers and powers up but the battery life is nowhere near what our original batteries give us,, in 43 minutes i was down to 70% left! see pic-- i also felt a difference in weight so i weighed them both and the eb-l1g6llu actually weighs less so im sure would be another reason for the sucky life,, im currently sending my eb-l1g6llu back to the seller for a full refund since they are horrible,, also you will notice that the eb-l1g6llu has chinese writing on it-see pic- hints another reason it sucks,, they are just cheaper batteries that are the same size but not same weight and the 2100mah written on it is a total lie, my original battery is the one on the left on both pics,, im currently messaging a different seller on ebay where ive explained all this,, he is selliing the EB-L1G6LLZ which comes in the verizon s3 but will work in all sg3's but he also mentioned that the EB-L1G6LLA is any "original battery" and its just different cause of the carrier,, but again the eb-l1g6llu is just a flat out fake cheap battery people are selling just to rip you off,, when i get the EB-L1G6LLZ from him if it works properly with "real" battery life like the ones that came with our s3's then ill come back and reply with his link so hopefully nobody else will get screwed over,, thanks for reading ,.,.
peace,.,. chuck
Actually not... The battery is either fake or not, it is not related to the model so directly. My International S3 came originally with EB-L1G6LLU battery=

Have just contacted online Samsung support, they told me that there's really no difference between these and other model numbers, it's just another production run (batch), and the batteries are actually the same.

SDI or ATL?, the origin of the battery in this file?

When i go to /sys/class/power_supply/battery and open the file batt_type with a text editor, in my case with a manufacturated china phone in the back, says SDI, is in this file the origin of the battery?
Yep. You've got a suspect battery.

And any here with atl?
I think everyone in xda with a note 7 has SDI battery right now.
I doubt this file provides accurate information. I have a HK version N7, whose battery should be made by ATL. However the file shows SDI.

hi bethedealer, are you based in HK? me too. i've actually been very suspicious of Samsung HK's vague, and delayed, announcement that their batch of phones "are unaffected". I still remember how weird it was on Friday seeing the Note 7 GLOBAL RECALL news on the net, yet HK stores were still selling the phone openly.
i think if any HK Note 7s were to catch fire, Samsung HK can and should get a lot of **** for being so evasive about the news.
also, side question: may i please know how you guys are checking the battery info/source? i don't know how...

I'm from HK. From the news several days ago about the global recall, we all found wired and were joking that HK is not part of the globe. Then Samsung HK announced in FB that as phones sold in HK and China has different battery supplier so the recall doesn't apply.

i just checked, my Singapore variant also says "SDI" in the battery type file. hey bethedealer, if you know anyone else with a HK Note 7, or if you post on the HK Chinese forums, can you please ask them to also check their battery type? the reason i ask is because i'm wondering if any of them say ATL (and HK ones should, in theory, say ATL instead of SDI)... unless these files really are just nonsense. I would do it myself but my Chinese typing ability is terrible.
UPDATE: oops, just saw you post it on Discuss.hk! hahah thanks.
I wonder why I don't have a batt_type file?
I have an SM-N930FD variant, originally from UAE and it says "Made in Vietnam"
However, under sys/class/power_supply I have an empty file called battery that is 0.00 B.
There is no folder called battery and nothing else called batt_type.
I'm also based in hong kong and bought the note 7 from broadway on 4/9. i checked that file and also states SDI......

It seems then that this file has no relationship with the battery origin...

From what I read, the ATL batteries may be shipped within China areas. So Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau may get them. But no guarantees.

Only Chinese models sold in China have ATL batteries. Everyone else got SDI/ATL
As far as I know, Samsung couldn't put SDI batteries in phones destined for Chinese market due to some licensing issues (to protect their market China won't license foreign made batteries), so that should explain why China and HK are not included in recall, they all should have ATL batt. As for that file being accurate, my 3 yr old Note 3 has the same file and it also says SDI. Now, originally my Note 3 had battery which was assembled in China from SDI cells made in Korea. I think the problem with N7 batteries is not cells themselves, but how they were assembled, so maybe some phones using SDI cells may still have been assembled in China. But it may be impossible to figure where batteries were assembled and therefore global recall.

I just posted this in the other "who made your battery?" thread. All the battery cells are made by SDI. Third parties package the cells in to battery packs. It is most likely that testing apps read the cell and not who packaged it. So everyone has a SDI battery but the problem isn't with the cell it's with who packaged it.
Samsung concluded that the faulty batteries are to blame for the explosions. Samsung SDI is the group within Samsung that makes batteries for the Galaxy Note 7. That is, Samsung SDI produces the battery cell, but the battery pack production is outsourced to other firms. Korean ITM Semiconductor produces the battery pack for the Galaxy Note 7’s that are sold in Korea. ITM’s batteries seem to have been the ones that exploded. Meanwhile, most phones sold in China are going to have battery packs from Chinese company Amperex Technology.
from HongKong, the file shows "SDI" as well. I wonder if anyone shows "ATL" ???
I just had my Note 7 exchanged here in Singapore. And using the root Explorer method, the battery appears to still be SDI.
I know this topic is dead and moot with the ending of the Note 7, but, I haven't sent my replacement Note 7 in yet and my file just says "battery". Nothing else in the file. Man, I miss the N7.
