No "OK Google" voice activation? - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

It doesn't seem HTC enabled the "OK Google" listening when the phone is off nor when the screen is on. I use that funcationality a lot and was wondering if anyone knew a way to turn it on manually? It seems it's disabled in the Google App.

I'm able to use "ok google" when the screen is on, but not when screen is off. I think that is kept for Nexus devices? Make sure you check "From any screen" in google voice setting.

Yep, this is not a function that the non-nexus phones do, with very few exceptions.

Is there a way to get "ok Google" with screen off to work on this phone?

I really use ok Google a lot, is there a way to get this to work with the screen off?
I've been using the utter! app. It sits on top of Google search and allows you to turn on/off wifi, bluetooth, etc ... via voice. It has a feature call Wake-Up-Phrase that will let you wake up the phone with any customized phrase. Of course, it will consume battery so I only use it when driving.

"ok google"

On the watch face depending on which one you use you can move the "ok google" banner. While on some others you can not. Is there a way to turn it off completely. I dont need a constant reminder that I can say "ok google" every time I look at my watch.
Simply say OK Google and use it a few times. Once you use it two or three times, it disappears forever.

"Ok google" with screen locked on H815

Hi everyone, is there any way to activate the google now "ok google" detection with screen locked (like nexus devices)? It would be really useful to use phone "hands free" in car!
Thanks in advance
Go to google now settings, enable "ok google" detection from any screen and trusted voice. Go to settings/display/lock screen/smart lock and make sure trusted voice is enabled there.
Now plug your phone into car charger or power bank and you're good to go. "OK Google" on lock screen works only when the device is charging.

[Q] Okay Google conflicts with Watch. Turning off 'any time' does not solve

Hey everyone, I'm having an issue that I did not have previously on my Nexus 6.
When I say "Okay Google" to my watch, the Google Assistant on the phone pops up and both listen, or my watch cancels.
I've remedied the issue on the Nexus 6 by disabling the always listening feature.
On the Pixel/XL, if I disable the feature in Google Now > Settings > Voice > "Ok Google" detection > Say "Ok Google" anytime, then when I say "Okay Google" from the home screen, I am prompted to set up voice recognition to learn my voice, and the endless cycle continues. So this does not work.
I have hit the "later" button, press home, and try again. The prompt appears.
Is there no way to disable the always listening "Ok Google" detection feature when the screen is off anymore?
Thanks in advance!

I manually wake the watch and say "ok google". The problem is not with the watch, but with the phone.
(I have an LG Urbane as well)

Lenovo P2 : Make "Ok Google" work when screen is off ?

Unlike more recent phones (like say my Nokia 8) I am UNABLE to get my trusty daily driver, the P2, to wake up when the screen is off even though I have "Voice Match with Screen Off" activated in the Google Assistant settings. The screen HAS to be on (pressing home button, double tap, etc...) for the "OK Google" command to work and then it will correctly unlock the phone with my voice.
Has anyone found a workaround for this (forcing microphone to stay on somehow? or am I maybe missing an obvious setting on the P2 ? Thanks !

It can only be done with screen on however, you can activate google assistant in screen off when your phone is being charged.
ok I suppose that's a limitation of our older phone...Actually I think the "listen while charging" option was the old "Ok Google", the Google Assistant doesn't have that anymore as I can tell.

Older phone? Nah, keeping mic on all the time costs battery and and this is dependent on the manufacturer and chipset which decide the features set. Droid Maxx was even older phone but it had that feature because it had a separate low power core for listening to OK Google Now.
Right, it's just that now most (all ?) phones would have that enabled.
I couldn't find an app to force the MIC to stay on but with "WaveUp", you can wave your hand above the sensor to turn on the screen and then use "OK Google".

And this is perfect explanation.
Is anyone really willing to be monitored by Google all the time ?
