Cool! Lol you have the same exact model of S6 Edge as me! I have a 128gb too. Been here since 2000, and yeah, been waiting for a kernel, looking everywhere, even the flat S6 forums to see any development. I just can't wait to install a new kernel so it can get some more performance and battery life out of the S6. :good:

This is the only thing stopping us from using any of the International Roms now, I would think. Nothing against Edgar and the Xtrestolight ROMs he has been posting for us but I miss all the cool customizations a lot of the International developers post. Would never come out in support of any one ROM or another. This at least opens the door now for us. I have upgraded every Sammy since the first day of availability, but since the S7 flat and edge TMobile is still locked down as far as I know regarding the bootloader I held off. My wife has the S7 Edge, but she has never let me root any of her phones.
EDIT: PS....my kids are iPhone users. I used to be until the Google Nexus One. Love Android and never looked back.

I will be making a new thread in the S6 Flat Section "tomorrow" after work. I have 2 testers gong thru hoops right now.
One has reported nothing but good.
Still waiting to hear from the other.
I'm not going to make a thread here. Sorry. That would be 3 total for to watch.
Once I make the thread I will post a link to it

I'm sorry. Did I offend you by making a statement about International ROMs ? I check the boards here as often as my health allows. (Just had back surgery 10 days ago, so it's not easy to sit at a computer where I typically scan all the XDA stuff) Just seems there literally has been no development since the release of MM for our Tmobile variants, and again, I know it's not Kosher about asking ETA's. I saw a post you made weeks ago about working on this kernel for us, but I literally was giving up, only seeing posts from new users having issues about upgrading to MM from LP. I do appreciate your work, and really was hoping to come back to see a link tonight to the edge kernel. Anyways, thanks again for your work here. Sorry that traffic here is so light, but there are the mighty few of us here that really are loyal to developers such as you.

[WIP] 3.4 Kernel for d2 (qcom sgs3)

Hello.
I have a kernel based on CAF's jb_2.5 branch booting on d2spr.
Source is here.
Status currently is: userland comes up (working panel) and seems to be functioning properly, with the caveat that pretty much all peripherals are broken. USB also works - so this project really is a developer's dream: plethora of mini problems to work on and a wealth of debugging information readily available.
Up until this point, I could focus on specific problems with the boot process and tackle them one by one. However now, there are dozens of directions one could go in, so I am posting this with the hopes of soliciting some help from like-minded individuals with experience in kernel porting. Work is also picking up for me, and I really need to offload some of this kernel work. Plus, I am burning a hole through my boot partition flashing/re-flashing, and it really is no fun doing this alone.
A bit of background: I used CAF's jb_2.5 branch because it is closest to being compatible with the userland HAL (display-caf in particular) currently used in cm10.1. I also have CAF's msm-3.4 branch booting, but the panel headers in userland are too far apart.
I tried to be surgical with the alterations: rather than mass merges, I tried to insert drivers individually (with the exception of media/video where samsung seems to have done an amazing job of crapping all over qcom's already non-upstreamed v4l2/camera/media code). The upshot of this is, we get rid of all the extraneous samsung crap. The downside is things are harder to fix.
The priorities as I see them:
1. Get d2vzw, d2tmo, d2att (etc) off the ground. Currently I only have board files for d2spr since this is the device I own, but someone with the right device and skill set should be able to invest couple of hours to follow my commits and get their version up.
2. Sound.
3. WiFi/Bluetooth. (invisiblek)
4. Camera
So let's get this going.
I wish we could put an effort to make this happen on Midas...
But really this is the wrong forum, the Qualcomm devices are truly on a completely different platform, there is little to no shared code here. Anyway good luck with it...
This honestly belongs in one of three places.
I am very interested in this work though.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1692
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1712
It's not really in the wrong section (currently): the US variants of the SGS3 share this "development discussion" section with the exynos versions. If a different dev discussion is created for the qualcomm devices, this thread will probably be moved there.
Take care
Gary
Audio is up and going.
You know you want in on this.
moving along well
wifi and bluetooth now too (bluetooth is just as ****ty as it was before)
as far as i can tell, the two big things left are:
-shutdown/reboot sequence is borked
-data
EDIT: oh, camera too
Can you please discuss development, as opposed to just give status updates on a project? (Otherwise, I'll have to delete the thread.)
Some suggestions: Discuss HOW you got audio, bluetooth, wifi, etc working - perhaps with some code snippets or actual examples.
Thank you
Gary

Gary, I appreciate what you are trying to do here, but the commit log is readily available. It's not like folks are asking specific questions and they are left unanswered.
If someone wants to spur discussion on a particular part of any code that's been committed then I am game, but rehashing past efforts for the sake of generating content is wasting everyone's time.
You have the last word so do what you gotta do.
In the meantime we have all sensors going (prox/light/g-sensor), gps also works, device reboots properly, and now actually enters power collapse in suspend. Thanks to invisiblek, our wifi and BT drivers have been ported over from 3.0, + he's got d2_vzw up to speed.
Other than some (minor and not so minor) tweaks here and there, the major project that needs a champion is camera.

The issue is that this section is for development discussion. Currently, this thread is using it as a "status updates for a specific product" thread (and not discussing the process whatsoever.)
Perhaps "Sprint samsung galaxy S III -> General" would be a better place for this thread?

You should know better than to post things like the above without offering a source tree.
Mod please close this thread, it obviously does not belong here.
As a side note: Pretty disappointed with XDA here - this thread gets bounced from development (into general nonetheless), in favour of threads "how to compile CM10.1"? Close it, posts like the ones above are exactly what I was trying to avoid.

Dunno what happened and I'm not going to presume, but just to clear something up that people seem to have a giant misconception about; John didn't create RootBox, so of course the other RootBox threads wouldn't be affected. He maintains the build for the SGN2, not the other devices as well. He just adds an additional flavor to the SGN2 RootBox with PUB.

Thank you for that, and to add to it: John doesn't jsut add in PUB, he is the OFFICIAL Maintainer for this ROM for this device.
Since there is no explanation as to why John's account is locked, is it something that could possibly be a reason to stop using this ROM? Like a security issue or something? Malicious software? I'm assuming not as his work is still allowed to be here just not him...
I love this ROM and hope all works out for him.

yeah, dont let your imagination get the better of you...he obviously had some issues with the mgmt here, so dont worry about his software being "the problem"..

Did everyone jump ship?

Thete is hardly any development on this phone. My note 2 and 3 there were tons of roms. But it's dead here . Every one leave sprint? Not that i blame them sprint is pretty lame. ..
Nah, my guess would be that since we all know Lollipop 5.xx is coming, the developers are probably waiting. It's still a pretty new device too. Jmho...

Cm and asop romz are built almost daily n there getting more stable
Hybrid-X Stock ROM is probably the most stable and best rom out at the moment. He is also woking on a dark version of the Stock rom. Soo many options unlocked in this rom.
I use to use CM as it was basically "Rooting for Dummies" I am not cutting anyone down (I use to love CM) but you dont have to think with that rom you install and it does the rest it will even update the rom for you. You dont have to think when you have that rom, you are safe and should not have any problems which is why I loved it. However their roms were not stable and updating too often so I tried other builds and found Hybrid-X to be the best so far.
My guess is tho everyone else is waiting for Lolipop to arrive. But tx is still working hard on his ROM and is always improving it even when he says he is done for a while, all of a sudden there is an update or a new mod you can use. If you dont use his at least watch the build and see what is still going on with his rom.

Oh and Sprint may seem lame to you, but all carriers have their own pros and cons. For me I left verizon and came to sprint for the unlimited data and I pay a lot less monthly. Went from having to data-mine and count my megabites, to not having to worry, and I typically use 60-70 gigs a month on just my phone I get my money's worth.

I was also curious about this, I'm not too familiar with the whole developer side of android, so I'm learning!
When the official lollipop version is released for the Note 4, will we see more ROMs being developed?, and higher quality? Or should I expect things to stay about the same?
I've really really enjoyed several ROMs I've tested, I'm just curious what to expect once the official Lollipop TW is released.
Good things come to those who wait
Someone on the Hybrid page said they went back to stock and are currently downloading Lollipop. Posted screen shots too, won't be that much longer if this is actually the case. I would assume there will be a lot more action soon, or else the roms that are being made will be the best and there will be no need for a ton of different ones.

This was exactly the reason for the hault in production in KK roms. At least it was for me. No point wasting time on a soon-to-be out of date build. And to sum up the OP's initial post... for anyone who is not happy with the lack of roms for your phone, then there are options for you. You can learn to build your own roms and you can also donate to developers to support and encourage then to continue buildg roms for free. The only reason i started building roms for the Note 4 was because there was really not many if any devs building roms for us sprint users. I made the choice to get off my @$$ and do something about it instead of crying and making posts about it. FYI to anyone not aware... building roms takes a LOT of work and a lot of time. Take that for what it's worth. I would love to sit on my @$$ and wait for awesome roms to come out and not have to build them myself!!! That's the sweet life!!! to those of you who have shown your support and respect to the few devs here in the Sprint note 4 forums, we ALL Thank You!!!

We all are fed-up of the official ASUS builds .... (fast charging & fast draining technology together :laugh.
Are people working on building CM12 for ZF2 & when can we expect the first drop ?
Just a hint would also bring new hopes to most of us
I'm really excited to know about this

please..first rule of CM or XDA, never ask for ETA, and never ask or push developers to speed up their work or we will never get any of it..
just keep waiting and when the time has come, they will share it with us..just dont keep asking for ETA please.. and i hope that xda newcomer on zf2 forum must learn this word, NEVER ASK FOR ETA for any development..its a taboo here..

I'm not. Something I learned some time back is that unless the kernel and device tree of the aftermarket ROM (like AOSP, or a derivative like CM) is developed by someone that knows every last nook can cranny of the device (as in the OEM, and I don't imagine that happening), the device won't be optimized out of the gate to provide better battery life than stock.
Hacking a device tree from scratch, rather than building on what the OEM has provided (albeit not knowing what route they are going with this one) spells problems. Of my two devices that I had custom ROMs for, neither worked fully (no matter which ROM you chose) or engaged more hardware (something was always missing or broken) , and the battery life was worse than stock (even with modest OS jump, from stock GB to ICS/CM9).
You can see how I voted, although I am not reserved to stock forever. CM13 or CM14 would be the time I would be interested in something other than stock, when the kernel and device tree becomes mature enough to prove myself wrong regarding the above.
The only thing I like in official FW is "double-tap to wake".
But it's actually not "double-tap to wake" because the phone never sleep.
When I watched CPU state with CPU Spy and found out Deep Sleep state never be used.
The reason why it's drain about 1%/hour even not connecting to anything.

I have DT2W active and I have deepsleep..try wiping everything, maybe you have some problem on the phone.
Everyone that wants CM, feel free to devote some time and help build it.
Please dont forget about ze550ml model
(Even if the roms look like they are pratically the same, except for DPI setting)
yeayyy cynogenmod for our zenfone 2 yeHaaaa

You could follow here if you wanted. I believe the only thing you will get here with regards to CyanogenMod for the ZF2 will be the ROM post/thread when it is ready. I understand what you are getting at. My point was this particular thread should not have been made in the first place. A simple search would have yielded info the OP was looking for (with the exception of an ETA).
Shame on me but never saw any CM rom, not even from distance. Can someone link me some good source of picture/video so I can see some good/cool stuff about CM and decide if it is worth more than ASUS stock rom (which is pretty good by me)?

will paranoid android ever release ?

hello ive been waiting for pa from a long time ( just like all of u ) but looks like its not happening ,,, is it coming soon enuf or should i just try out other roms ? any suggestions for other roms ? im still on stock but looking to change now ,, thank you ,, appreciate your help
It will come ... Someday. If you'd like to try some ROMs, do it. It's pointless to wait for something that doesn't have an ETA.
When it eventually comes, switch to it, simple.
I've also been on stock (more or less, switching between stock stable, beta, FreedomOS and ExperienceOS) for a long time, mainly because of reports that camera isn't as good on custom ROMs. Then a few weeks ago I finally got myself to try Sultan's LineageOS and I don't regret it. Now I'm definitely not going back to stock ? I did install OOS camera port to keep the same camera experience and I have to say it works perfectly.

Try vertexos. You'll know how it's better than many many ROMs , putting up to the quality OOS offers. The dev has put in very very high efforts in porting EAS which is a deep pixel exclusive to our device and has made it better than pixel itself. You need to try it out. The other awesome ROM around here is sultan's unofficial CM14 . you can use these until aospa comes.

hahahaa ,, i really hope so sir ... been waiting a long time ,, been a loyal user,, but idk why it has got everyone frustrated now ... youve literally told Soon from december ,, even may is going to start in a day ,, android O has come out too and yet the same Soon is said .. dont get me wrong sir ,, please dont ... dont mean to down your work but might as well release and then make it perfect i guess ? i mean even exodus was a long wait ( i have a opo too ) and y`all waited a long time to release saying it wud be perfect , but when you finally did ,, it was great but there were bugs right ? its like unavoidable no matter how hard we try ,, might as well release it ,, u get a large scale feedback which will just ease your work and help you ...
Carbon ROM is a good old ROM that just reborn. I would also like to see PA soon, but good stuff takes time.

Definition of SOON
Seriously Overdue On Nougat.
Soon means that PA will come after new OP phone and android O is released and noone will use it, too bad.

It basically tweaks the system depending on your usage to save on battery without causing lag.
I made a twitter account 6-7 years ago. Then never logged in. From December I always log in to twitter just to see if there's any update of AOSPA from arter97 ? Everyday man, everyday.

Looks like they are preparing for something: https://gerrit.aospa.co/#/c/2480/
Alex Naidis states that the code review is skipped due to "time pressure".

It was for sound recorder. Meh.

AOSPA never gonna be released. Their trademark should be FOREVER^TM.
Even Google released the beta android O to test it out.
The release cycle of PA is quite frustrating. Only gonna release of the rom if its stable. What's the point? I'm sure there will be plenty of bugs even after the release.
They should allow users to beta test build so that they can get more feedback to work on, instead of searching for them on their own.
It's been a month from their last post regarding some new update. What's the point of posting a comeback pic if are not gonna keep the fans informed about the rom.
I know we are not paying them and they are doing it in free time but their new egoistic approach towards the release cycle has made things worse to the loyal fans of PA. It's sad that I've to say this one day.
Hope PA stop making further development and stop damaging the name of the best rom during his days.

I think they are very close to release ASOPA, though I'm agree with you. They should have let us test.
