HTC 10 Compatible with the Samsung Galaxy gear app ? - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

SO it's been awhile since i bought a new HTC but after finding out yesterday that T- Mobile will be releasing it on wednesday the 18th i was a happy camper , then i remembered that my Galaxy Gear S2 watch 4G is not compatable with my One plus X , So i figured i would call HTC Support and ask if the new phone will work with my new 4G watch
and i am sad to say that i was told it will not work , that it's not even a software issue but a hardware issue as well, was really looking forward to buying this Phone if anyone has any positive input it would be greatly appreciated . Thanks
Jim.....

My gear s2 is working perfect with my htc 10

My S2 and HTC 10 work but I can't get notifications on text messages or gmail or FB or been able to download Android Pay. Anything you would recommend?

I'm actually having issues getting my gear fit 2 paired

My Fitbit Surge will not pair with my HTC 10. Called Fitbit Tech support and told they're reviewing the issue.
Told to check back later. Called back a month later and told there's still no solution. Understand that the same issue affects the Samsung Galaxy S7. Anyone have recent information about this matter?

Had issues pairing a few Bluetooth devices. Guess the is the 10s wreak spot.

Called Fitbit Tech Support again today, Sept. 18th, and got the same answer as before.

I have my gear s2 paired just fine. Below is what I would suggest:
1) delete your gear s2 from Bluetooth settings on your phone and make sure the gear s2 is factory reset.
2) open play store and download Samsung Gear, Samsung accessory service, S health, and Gear Plugin.
3) open Samsung Gear and pair normally.
If you are missing any of those apps, it will not work properly.

Have no problems with my HTC10 and Samsung Gear Fit2 combo. Most important thing is to factory reset the gear before pairing!
Get the same performance and notifications as with my former daily the Note4

Every time I make a call or receive a call the watch takes over the call via Bluetooth. It's super annoying and can't seem to figure this out. Any ideas?

I experience the same problems. I wonder if someone has figured this out already?
Subsequently I experience the problem that my gear loses its bluetooth connection for approx. 5 seconds when my HTC 10 goes into standby. I wonder if there's a fix for this problem as well...

Samsung Note 3 only. S4/S3 support coming soon... Dont expect to see it anytime soon.

I'll stick with my Pebble. Not a fan of the mini-computer-on-wrist thing... The pebble still looks like a watch.
You want to pay $300 to not take your phone out of your pocket?

You still have to take it out of your pocket anyway. All the gear does is tell you you have an email or sms, doesn't actually show who from or the message at all. Kinda makes it useless in my opinion.
I do really want a smart watch myself and the only decent one is the pebble.
JaredC01 is right. The pebble still looks like a watch plus it gets decent battery life considering the screen is always readable and doesn't shut off unlike the Galaxy Gear. I can find out who's calling me, what's playing, what message they sent me without having to use my other hand to power the screen on (unless the gear has an accelerometer trigger to turn the screen on when flicking one's wrist). Sticking with my pebble until something better arrives.

Do you think should I buy a Pebble NOW? I mean, is it too late?
I won't want to be that connected to my phone.

I think they're trying to finish with the pre-orders first before being sold in retail stores (if any at all or maybe only online). A lot of people backed this kickstart project and the pebble orders piled up quickly. I backed them up last year on September and I just got mine this past June. Maybe the wait is less now, or maybe not.
I ordered my Pebble watch just under a month ago and it just arrived.
It's not about not wanting to take your phone out to look at, rather it's about being a little more subtle when checking updates. I can check messages and notifications with the same amount of disruptions as a wrist flick.
If you want something cheap get a Sony watch first or second version for 50-150 on ebay if you want a wrist communicator
But with the pebble you can do some useful things like delete messages, skip through songs, and other stuff that would be useful for say running or if you are at the office and don't want to be blatant about certain things.

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I bought my pebble a month ago in best buy. It was honerstly an amazing piece of hardware and works well. I didn't need to order it or wait. I had an s4 at the time a d it didn't work well with Samsung's talkback bug but I would buy again in a heartbeat... It's a smaller size to me. I usually wear large faces like diesel or breitling but otherwise it works better than the gear.

Questions answered about the Galaxy Gear
I work for Sprint, and I was awarded the Galaxy Gear as part of the Galaxy Note 3 Advocate package. As for what the watch is capable of, it does more than what the previous posters have stated. To answer some of what was said.....it does display your text messages, and it allows you to respond via S-Voice to them. It has a media controller that allows you to skip tracks, control volume levels, and play/pause media including videos. It has a pedometer, accesses your contacts, call logs, and more. I love mine, but I'm honestly waiting for someone to figure out how to successfully pair it with the HTC One or the One Max so I can come back to my HTC. The Note 3 is awesome, but I would rather be using my HTC One with the gear.....thats my take on it.
I bought my pebble from best buy, love it. I've played with the Galaxy Gear, Samsung tried sticking way too many features into the watch and forgot that it was a watch. Get the Pebble.

I didn't pay for mine....got it for free. I had a customer who brought in his iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S to recycle after purchasing the Note 3 using the Sprint 1-Up program for $47.25.....got the gear for free with enough change from the recycle to purchase a body glove case with no out of pocket cost!! Awesome deal!

[Q] Talking Galaxy Tab s

Hey guys,
Just went to a major whse and bought the Galaxy Tab s. Looking over the specs I noticed it can mirror my Galaxy Note 3 via sidesync to send and receive calls. However one can't talk THROUGH the Tab s? I just talked to two live chat support and they said you can't. Both are bluetooth paired, sydsynced, both have microphones and speakers. All set up to be able to talk through the Tab s right? Nyet. no. Yet, my $80 dumb car stereo with bluetooth can and the sound comes through the speaker so why can't this whizz bang tablet? What am I doing wrong and missing?
Thanks for any hep.
I've searched google for w while now and I found ONE thread about downloading something onto my computer then onto the tablet after rooting but I'm not that technical. I'm three hours into the search and nothing. So either I'm asking the google the wrong question or a solution isn't there?
Yeah, call through secondary device, everybody wants, but AFAIK not solution around. Bummer.
I became so disappointed as you when I realized I couldn't speak and hear through tab when picking calls from note 3.
The solution we expect will require a BT phone in range with note 3. That is pretty redundant because tab has a BT phone built in as you said.
Sidesync is nice but is fresh and there is a lot of room for features and improvements on its next versions.
sydesinc for now acts just like a windows RDC and can't be used if you're tethering data from secondary device. it is nice but it's not enough.

Thanks guys just my luck. This is NOT what was advertised or rather a slick omittance and half truth in their advertisement. Even a gent from a major electronic magazine at the CES show stated after sydsyncing his phone "will be able to talk through the device and mirror your phone". Then went on to drag and drop a pic of his mirrored phone onto the Tab. I thought cool finally! So much for research.
It amazes me they went 9/10th of the way but thought it not useful to go that extra tenth to make it be a pass though device for calls.
Again, thank you for your answers.:good: Going back today to return it.

Sad to say that is the case. It does work with S5 however. Did you update your software? I am wondering if that would take care of it. Not sure why it would with S 5 and not Note.

So you confirm you can make a call on S5 (actually pressing it on tab) through sidesync and speak on the mic of te tab?
can we bridge calls through devices or not? I just could't figure how.

I was able to tether the entire call through my galaxy tab S via sidesync using my galaxy S4, however I can't tell if it works with my new Note 4. I called my partner while I was at home and they were at work, using sidesync, with my S4 in the next room on the charger, however I had it connected via wifi and bluetooth.
As far as i know,it only works with S5.
In a few days i have my Tab S 10.5 lte and that's the reason i will change my Note 3 into an S5.

Moto 360: The Australian Thread

Hey Guys!
I've made it a bit of a tradition to make a new one-stop spot for all things related to Australians getting their hands on devices since the Nexus 4 and today is no exception!
My amazing girlfriend decided to give me an early Christmas present to stop me from buying one of the cheap LG G Watches, so now I have in my hands one of these very beautiful watches.
As far as I'm aware, this watch is extremely difficult to actually acquire in Australia, with both JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys having limited stock Australia-wide.
This thread will be a general area for Australian owners and potential owners to hang out, ask questions, get advice and get help quickly and within your time zone.
If anyone helps you or offers you advice don't forget to hit the :good: "Thanks" button in the bottom left corner of their post!
Please let me know if there's any important Australian specific information and I will put it here in the OP!
Not EXTREMELY difficult to acquire.
Harvey Norman has it in Knox, Chirnside Park and a few others. It had the silver one in Nunawading as well, but now it's gone.
I suggest you stick with Harvey Norman, they seem to have the most ones (advice to anyone wanting to get one now in Melbourne).
Got mine from Harvey and it's going okay so far
I got mine a week ago from The Good Guys in Sydney. All the Harvey Normans i went to had black ones and JB too. GG had both colours.
Loving it so far, even more so since upgrading to 5.0.1 today. I do have a stuck green pixel though which is a shame.
Anyone in Australia got the 5.0.1 update on their 360 yet?

Yep. I had to do a factory reset of the watch (and re-install of the Android Wear 1.0.5 app) about 5 times until the update popped up.
You need min 80% battery before the update will install (it will just refuse to install until it is).
Didn't work for me. Reset, cleared wear data. Tried it 3 times and no update yet. Guess I'll have to keep waiting

Hey guys, I reset mine around 5 times as well no update yet either..... I got mine a month and a half ago online..... This was the best way to get it at that time...
Ditto, got mine over a month ago from a family member coming from the US. Still no update.........

They're not difficult to acquire, you can buy them straight off the Kogan website:
Black: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/motorola-moto-360-dark-stainless-steel-case-black-leather-band/
Silver: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/motorola-moto-360-light-stainless-steel-case-stone-leather-band/
That said, the black is out of stock at the moment, but just keep an eye on it. I bought mine from there about 2 months ago with no problems.
I have just bought a Moto 360 and can't for the life of me get it to pair with my phone (SM-N910G). I've tried everything I know but always get the message "Unable to pair with Moto 360. Incorrect PIN or password"
I have restarted the phone, deleted all stored pairs, reset the phone etc but still nothing.
I did manage to get it to pair with my Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 for long enough to set it up and download the update. Since then I have reset it again and unpaired the tablet but still can't get the Note 4 to connect
Any hints or advice would be greatly appreciated because right now it's looking like the watch will be going back to HN if I can't get it to work.

MIne pairs with my Note 4 pretty easily.
Try doing this:
1.Uninstall Android Wear app
2.In bluetooth settings on your phone, see if the Moto 360 is listed. If so, press "forget" when you click on moto 360
2. reset watch
3. download android wear app
4. try pairing again. You should have a passcode appear on your phone & watch (they should be the same). Once you press accept on both watch & phone, it should be paired.
Thanks for your reply - I forgot I had posted here.
I got it skorted, you can read about it here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-360/help/note-4-pairing-t3019695

So i wanna buy a smartwatch and i liked sony smartwatch 3. But i have samsung galaxy note 3. But the salesman told me that in sony smartwatch, the apps of samsung won't work and plus it won't be able to recieve call on sony smartwatch 3 using note 3 or any other samsung phone! So tell me. Did anyone try it on samsung? Will it work fine on samsung phone?
No reply?
You will be fine. The only requirement of Android wear I believe is Android 4.3 and above. If you're running that, you're good. Don't believe that guy. Probably just trying to sell you on the gear watches. I have a note 4 and Sony smartwatch 3.

He is only correct about the making phone calls part. You can do that with the sw3 and your phone. However, you still need your phone. Samsung has the only watch that allows you to make calls without a phone.
All the rest is completely false.

N7 with gear s2

Anyone using these 2 together? Had zero issues with my n5, but with this phone my watch rings even if it's set to vibrate. Kinda spoils the point of vibrate.

I am having the same issue. Gear s2 3g. Really annoying. Hope this gets fixed. The only way it doesn't ring is if you put it on silent. But you also don't get any vibrations.
I am running my note 7 with my gear s2 3g and I'm not having those problems. Mine is working just fine.
I'm running mine with the Gear s2 classic 3g, and it works just fine
Samsung suggested a hard reset on the gear s2. When I swapped phones, my gear suggested a light reset. Did y'all who aren't having issues do a hard reset? Also what options do y'all have under bluetooth on your phone for the gear? Just audio?

Everything you said. Plus, I can no longer purchase any watch faces. Able to buy on my Note 5. Did a factory reset, etc. Called Samsung 3 separate times and got nowhere. VZW says to call Samsung. Can I not give these people my money??
Seriously annoyed tho. I just bought the S2 Classic the Monday before getting my N7. Only had a chance to buy two faces from the N5. If I switch back to the N5, I can spend all my money, lol.

I did. A few times. And then again, each time before switching back & forth between the Notes 5 & 7.
Have any of you who have previously had the watch paired with a different device, try to purchase any watch faces since the Note 7?
I've had no issues with watch faces. That's interesting.
