Bluetooth help - HTC 10 Questions & Answers

I love this phone,* it's the most complete package/well put together phone I have ever come across. However, I'm having a bit of trouble with Bluetooth. It keeps dropping out & I believe it's some sort of software conflict.
I've tried starting in safe mode, which does fix the problem (as far as I can tell,* coz I've no music apps in safe mode)
I have done a factory reset,* which didn't help.
I have deleted apps,* one at a time to try to find the culprit,* but can't find it...
Is anyone experiencing anything similar? And any suggestions on how to fix it...
It's dropping during phone calls,* music playback and with my re camera...* So basically all scenarios

same issue also auto focus has issue !

Finally... I think I've found the culprit! My banking app... they released an update where they stated there's a bluetooth issue for some Marshmallow users, I also read the reviews and there's a few people are experiencing bluetooth dropout... Happy days if this is it!!!
I'll test it this evening when I'm leaving work.

Why should a banking app gives Bluetooth problems?

I presume that they have a security system where they temporarily disable short range communications as you send your authentication info... But that's pure speculation

Go to play store and download an app called Bluetooth phonebook. It's a trial, but it's functional enough to determine whether your problem goes away. I need it for the headunit in my pickup, or Bluetooth drops. It solved my problem

It's all solved... Was a problem with my banking app not playing nice with marshmallow. Been making phonecalls and playing music in the car for an hour now and no problems

[Q] Problems with Google Music on M8 and Wifi

For some reason I can't get Google Music to actually download anything to my phone. I'm trying to do an offline playlist for when I'm travelling and don't want to use 4g. This has worked on multiple devices I've had in the past, so I don't think I'm doing anything wrong. What's odd is, it won't stream music either unless I allow it to use 4G. I've reset my router and modem, restarted the phone, cleared the app data and cache and signed in again. Nothing I seem to do works and I'm getting irritated. These are songs I uploaded to and/or purchased from Google Music. Also, I do have data connectivity to everything else I can think of, work email, gmail, facebook and the internet as a whole are all working on the phone. Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated!
Continuing my research, I found a review in the play store of someone with an HTC One (doesn't say if it's M7 or M8) that has the same problem. No reply to it though.

I have this EXACT same issue. I can mark my playlists or radio stations for offline download, but if the checkbox for 'download on wifi only' is ticked, it never downloads.
The same thing happens with google photos and auto upload. If I have it set to upload on wifi only, it never happens. So the problem is very similar, but only with this device. My nexus 5, and Nexus 7 don't have this issue. So it's likely software, but I just can't figure out what it would be. I really don't want to do a factory reset and have to set everything up again. Maybe there's some HTC software messing it up?
Summary of issue:
ONLY happens in google music and google photos
only happens when set to 'download(or upload) on wifi only'
Only happens on the htc one m8
Issue does not occur on nexus 5, or nexus 7.
Thank goodness it's not just me, I just realized it's happening for me on google photos auto backup as well yesterday. I concur it's got to be something software based but I'm not sure what it could be, the photo backups did work for me without issue for a while, I ended up turning it off for a couple days for some reason I can't recall, and never noticed after turning it back on that it wasn't actually uploading.

Mine worked well when I first set everything up, but that was because it defaulted to uploading over mobile networks. I usually set it to upload on wifi only when charging, and google music downloads over wifi only. Ever since I set them to wifi, they don't sync properly. If I switch them back to use the mobile network, everything works fine. I'm so annoyed with this. I tried running a logcat and it didn't seem to offer too much info that I could notice. I switched back to the dalvik runtime from art with no change. The next step is a factory reset, but I'm not sure that's going to help me.
I'm pretty sure I had mine on wifi only as well, but I could be wrong. I'm not going to have time to mess around with it anymore until later tonight (US Eastern Time Zone), have you tried calling support at all? I haven't yet, but may give it a go. If not, I'll let you know when I'm going to try a factory reset and whichever of us can first should post if it resolved the issue or not hehe.
Oh, one thing I just thought of, are you using Lookout Mobile Security?

I'm fairly certain support isn't going to be useful. They're going to suggest a handful of unrelated things to try, then they're going to have you do a factory reset. I'm NOT using lookout security. That was the first thing I disabled. I don't need that crap on my phone lol. I could technically do a factory reset now, I just don't want to spend my free time at work today reinstalling and setting up all my apps and settings.
Yeah, I don't really think support would be useful either. I thought about tweeting at @HTC or @HTCUSA about it, but they'd probably do the same thing as support. I do have Lookout turned on, figured it was worth a thought if you did as well. I would take the time to do the factory reset today while at work but am prepping for a major DR test so I'm just flat out not going to have the time, plus I don't want to mess up my exchange account etc lol
Do you have any corporate applications on? We use Airwatch for MDM at my office, and even though it's not *supposed* to have any impact on personal devices other than requiring a PIN lock, I'm wondering if something else is causing me connectivity issues of some sort.

Factory reset didn't fix it. Ugh. This is a deal breaker for me! I've only had the phone for 3 days, but I don't want to return it...
I contacted HTC to see what they can offer as far as extra help...I'll keep you posted.
Thanks, I called the T-Mobile store I got mine from to see if they'd heard of anyone having this issue, they hadn't and want me to stop in so they can take a look. I've been using Android since the G1 and also have had my usual crew of fellow Android geeks here at the office take a look and everyone came back to factory reset. I don't really feel like going to the store to have them suggest that as well and find out, like you, that it doesn't work. I'll let you know if I find anything else out also. Thanks man!

Well I'll clear that up by saying a factory reset isn't going to fix it. It's a software issue.
Exactly what I said, I'm tempted to root and try another ROM as I've had mine for over a month now. I'm wondering if you're up for it if you'd try another M8 to see if it happens there too? I've been trying to figure this out since June 1st and haven't really found anyone else dealing with the issue, kinda wonder if it's a glitch with the Wifi as I'd think if it was a pure software issue it would be more prevalent. :-\

I highly doubt it's an issue with wifi because it works fine. I could surf the internet all day and it would just work. Yet, auto upload, and downloading songs in play music doesn't work. Super annoying. I'll probably give it a try tonight/tomorrow and see how it goes though.
I just figure since you just got yours they may give you less of a hard time about exchanging. I'll go fight with them either way, but I have to probably wait another week as i'm on call starting Friday for a week and can't go without my phone at all :-\

I'll swing by there when I get a chance. If I can get a replacement, I'll take it. But I really don't think the device is the issue. Something is amiss here.

[Q] bluetooth has been stopped [SOLVED]

hello,
since I've flashed the KDZ (ADEU D85510H_00) from here I often get the notification that my bluetooth has been stopped, but the funny thing is that my bluetooth is disabled.
the notification appears in any case after each boot several times or sometimes if I use any app or sometimes when I unlock the device.
is there anything I can do so that the notification disappears?
thanks in advance!

Please test RCB 2 for me

Hi guys. Could someone please test my app root call blocker 2 on the trltetmo?
Ive had reports of issues, cant check as im in europe. On our side of the pond everything up to and including BOB7 works fine.
Any ROM will do. Ideally would like a test on lollipop too if anyone has it installed.
You can use this link or go to the main thread in my signature:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fahrbot.apps.rootcallblocker.beta
Thanks in advance!
I have had issues where RCB has broken my wifi calling. I will give this a shot and see how it works. This is bar none the best call blocking app I've ever used and have tried almost everything on the market. While unrelated, I wanted to be sure to drop props your way.
---------- Post added at 07:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:03 AM ----------
Side note, I have RCB Pro installed and it says there is a version conflict. I am fine with helping out, but will there be reduced functionality?

Stock deodex has issues right away. Did everything from clearing caches to trying to wipe data from app and still same thing. Enabled debug log but froze my phone. Upon reading other review the guy was right it shuts off the radio on off just by watching the phone. Funny thing is what ever it changes now I have the issue even when app is uninstalled. Will report back what fix is for that.

Could you elaborate please? Does random mean once at first run/every boot, or is it literally random as in it happens all day? Also did you make any test any calls?

Also seeking some elaboration here - what are "issues right away" please? What actually happens? Have you waited until you get the RCB service started notification?
Its supposed to restart the radio at first run and at every subsequent boot. Also it is not possible to uninstall it without rebooting - to remove the daemon, a reboot is necessary.

[issue][cm12.1] no sound in calls

Fist I thought it was a modem related issue, flashed a new modem and all working for two months..
Then, after various nightly updates the problem is back again. Who have the no sound call issue on cyanogenmod firmware?
It is a kernel problem?
I created this thread to exchange ideas and maybe help @arco68 to fix the problem.
FIX
"Apparently low latency audio might be problematic on msm8960/msm8930 devices, and it seems that it's not enabled in Samsung stock rom either." @arco68
So, to fix you must delete theese lines from audio_policy.conf file:

It must be possible to find some systematic differences between working and not working. After all, our hardware is identical, the software base as well. You should summarize the collected wisdom at your OP.

Possible solution
Hi,
I had this problem 3 months ago for the first time and I have not been able to solve it with any ROM I've tried. Then someone suggested me to install the app Disable service and going to system services menu, uncheck "check in service" in the google services. It works!
Now the problem appears only 1 or 2 times a week... I think the matter is that sometimes the app disable service doesn't start automatically or can't obtain root permissions.
Try it... and good luck!

I had the no-sound-issue with the UCOA2, too. I don't think updating the Radio helps to solve this problem in general.
I've testet the tip, to disable "Ceckinservice" previously, and first, it seems to work, but than the no-sound-issue appeared again.
About check in service
Hi DavidMLondon,
I don't know what google check in service does, but I don't use google now so I can't say if it's necessary for that or no. I had no general problem disabling check in service and as I said, before that I had the no sound in call problem every day (also two times....I mean 2 reboot needed), now I have it 1 or 2 times at week.... I don't know why...
I´m not sure this is caused by the same issue but maybe there is something into it.
So well I´m still on 5.0.2. It´s the latest release before Arne switched over to 5.1.1. Baseband is COC2.
By reading about your mic issues I wanted to check if my device is involved into it as well as I never had to deal with this issue. So Used the OK Google function first and then I called myself from a stationary phone. All was fine. Just later my wife called me and all I could hear is a horrible noise comming out of my speaker. The phone app crashed and keept crashing till I rebooted the device.
Then I disabled OK Google detection and all is fine so far. At least for normal calls. Just am experiencing something simmilar by making calls via Whatsapp. When the connection is bad and I´m getting the reconnect signal, my mic stops working when it gets reconnected again. It also keeps not to work when I finish the call and recall the person.
Now I'm on 30/06 nigthly and COD3 baseband and can't reproduce the issue, all working.
Does people have the no sound issue have disabled vibrations on soft touch buttons? This is the first time I left that enabled after a clean install and all works good.

This is the first time I have used the voice recorder and not had the issue. I will continue to test and report back. Would be interested to know how many others disable vibrate on touch.

Spoke too soon. Problem is back. I tested with voice recorder, voice search and Bluetooth and no sound issue returned this morning. Back to the drawing board

Man! Please update your radio: Please check http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-I9195/ for the recent radio of your country , and download the radio-file over xda forums.
Then disable the "OK Google" detection and also disable Google play services' "checkinservice".
I had this issue today. i heard the first few words of the caller then the sound went intermittent 'robotic' for a sec and then it was silent. the next call as well. I rebooted i had no calls for an hour it worked after. but i had this on prev builds just didnt know it was my phone causing it, thought its the network maybe, but now im sure its not. im checking my baseband ver a bit later, and i might try to update it.
my current modem is I9195XXUBML4.
Hey people. I just made the move to 5.1.1 using Tipsy ROM available on Google+ and was suffering from similar issues like you lot. My calls would sometimes lose sound or drop or sound very distorted. I also had problems with Google voice search. I was using the latest modern COD3 from a stock kit Kat. But dev had no such issues. So I changed my modem to the one the ROM dev was using which was an older version xxucnk5 and all my phone call issues disappeared including Google voice search issues. Don't know of this helps anyone? Using i9195 LTE here.
If someone could test the following, that would be great.

Update 52.1.A.3.49

Hello community,
has anybody seen and tested already update 52.1.A.3.49 for XZ2 compact? I found that version on https://xpericheck.com/device/H8324 but I don't know where and how to download (I cannot register or login to that homepage)......
Update: I've just saw that is also available in Flashtool/Xperifirm. So I can download, but how to install via flashtool (open bootloader)?
Greetings Odiad
I received it today. Haven't noticed anything significant yet, so probably just security updates
still no gesture navigation.

At the moment it seems that it is solved, but I've only been using it for a few hours with this new version. If it fails again I tell you.

Thanks it means a lot to me, well I can tell you a way to test if the issue is gone or not, you would have to record several voice notes until in the middle of one the volume goes down and be aware that in the next voice note the problem could not appear, as it just happens randomly.
The voice note issue was already fixed in the last Update, at least for me.
On this version I haven't noticed any issues yet. The only problem I had was, that I couldn't send any WhatsApp messages yesterday, but this Update fixed it. Maybe, a restart would have fixed it too, but don't know
Hello!
So, with this new update, finally no bugs on Android 10?

Yesterday WhatsApp had a failure in a lot of countries, so it was not the phone's fault.
After one day use I can say almost all, including battery life, is okay.
Regarding Bluetooth issue I was able to send a file from my XZ2C to another Android mobile, but I was not able to connect/pair to other phone. After one or two seconds the connection was off. So this failure is not fixed.
is the touch issue still there
the notification bar pulls down itself

Unfortunately it happened again. Even sometimes the phone slows down suddenly and after a couple of seconds it works properly again. I think that is the reason why the audios are cut. It also happened to me when I was archiving chats, when I selected them the notification bar suddenly appeared.

Yeah sadly the touch issue with the notification bar is still happening, what I do when I experience that is just block and unblock the phone and that fixes the problem for some hours, this issues happens to me one ot twice a day, I updated to Android 10 and then made a downgrade to Android 9 but my phone was never the same again

I've been experiencing such slow downs as well even since I bought my cellphone, even the first month of use, it restarted itself after getting frozen for some seconds while I was using whatsapp and then did the same 3 or 4 times during this year. Btw just block and unblock the phone and the touch issue will disappear for some hours (it worked for me)

Of course
Every Software update / Hardware Problem should be submitted to the support
You paid for the Hardware, the Software and aquiered a right for temporally warranty support.

Mmm i thought that it was a problem that other noticed that maybe It can be solved with a restare. i think that i Will give It a shot to the support
I contacted them, He suggested me to use Xperia companion app for restore the software xD. So should i? XD
In case of this, can i restore my all apps and settings automatically? Or I could encounter problems bugs and other stuffs?
I got this update yesterday. Everything seems to be going fine and the fingerprint scanner seems more responsive with the screen off.
However I'm noticing an odd 'app' sometimes open in the app switcher 'x Google enrollment ' . I'm not sure if it has anything to do with the update but this is the first I'm noticing it. Any idea what it is or does. If I tap it nothing happens. And after clearing it shows up randomly few hours later.
