CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit our Gerrit Code Review. Your changelog is whatever was merged into gerrit.

FAQ
Bug reporting
* These CM-12.1 builds are for beta testing and major bug discovery. This will be a launching pad for future CM-13.0 development.
* Feature request will be ignored.
* Reports without LOGS or solid reproduction instructions will be ignored.
Does Official TWRP exist?
* Not yet, submitted but not yet officially supported
Can I use a custom kernel with these builds?
* At your own risk, don't complain here if something gets broken in the process
*Also, doing so makes any feedback useless to us because the kernel and the ROM are a complete package and changing part of that means you may have broken something beyond our control.
Will this be an Official ROM?
* No, this is a temporary test bed for this device. I will be moving to CM-13.0 as quickly as possible
Do I need to unlock the bootloader?
* Yes, this is non-negotiable. I will not support any form of CM builds where I cannot flash a modified kernel
FM Radio
* Currently this is unsuported. As of yet we have not managed to figure out how Asus made this feature work. Should we figure that out We'd love to support it but until then it is not a high priority issue to resolve. ** UPDATED** I found some source code for the FM radio implementation but it's clearly marked as proprietary and unuseble by us at this time.
Call Recording
Native Call Recording is a feature that while only legal in some countries, has become very popular on CM.
Currently we do not have full audio HAL source for Intel devices and have no way to implement this in CM for this device.

Thanks for the work bro:good:, will try and report bugs if I find any...

Flashed this morning. Seems like every important feature working well. GPS is good, bluetooth works with my miband. Gonna try for some day. The first impression is really cool. Smooth as butter. Thank you for this.

Awesome!! Thanks Dev!!

Thanks for your work!

I just uploaded a new build, same build date and lin, that fixes a few minor issues I noticed.
* USB serial no settings
* device name props matched to stock (this allows Asus pixel master camera to work, although I doubt every mode/option works properly)
I'm going to be running this as my daily device for a few days to find any other major issues before moving on to CM13. The tiny data partition is frustrating and I'm hoping adopted storage in cm13 helps this.
Battery life?
I'm not really sure what to expect here as I never( not even for a day) ran this device on stock. It came right out the box into dev mode. I will have to rely on you guys to gauge good/bad battery life as I am known to be a battery abuser.
Hope you all enjoy.

Mine works fine, besure your not blocking it, or like the other guy said a badly placed case/protector. Grab "sensors test" from play store and try testing Prix sensor that way.

FAQ
Does Official TWRP work?
* Only if they have the device called Z00A. As of the initial release the official TWRP did not but will likely soon be named properly.
* If it doesn't work, arecovery from the OP.
Can I use a custom kernel with these builds?
* No, there are no custom kernels build based off of our source tree, using our defconfig and which contain the proper ramdisk.
*Also, doing so makes any feedback useless to us because the kernel and the ROM are a complete package and changing part of that means you may have broken something beyond our control.
Will this be an Official ROM?
* When all the show stopping bugs are fixed and all the upstream commits are merged, yes.
* Until then, no because CyanogenMod has very high standards for accepting new devices.
What about the Z008 aka ze550ml?
* Right now none of the developers who are working on the development own one and therefore we can't support it.
* One of the developers working on this said he was purchasing one (even though he already owns the ze551ml). When he gets it and has time to work on it we may see it. Without us owning the device though, there will never be support for it.
Do I need to unlock the bootloader?
* Yes.
thanx Chris, a zillion people have been waiting for your hard work and quality as always , thankyou chris,,steve

I am using the 2gb/16gb ZE551ML and I have around 600-1gbmb free at any given time (OS is only doing around 800mb-1gb so I'd imagine the 4gb should have 3gb+ free). Now battery life, loving it, around 1% every 5-7 minutes with the screen on

Anything known as broken right now? Thank you so much by the way! Stellar work!
I just flashed it. it boots and is fast with low ram usage.
Got one soft reboot. did not try calling. but wifi worked fine and lte worked too.
The wifi calling support that was announced on 10/31/15 is not functional yet that I could find.
I would not call it a DD yet.

Any reference/call for GPS services causes phone to reboot. Maps, Runkeeper, Gps Status and Runtastic all causes phone to immediately soft boot. Any ideas?

Also, whenever you restart the phone (and on the very first boot) about half of the screen is offset from the other half. It's like one half of the screen has been scooted ten pixels or so above the other half. This is really hard to explain, and the problem seems to fix itself before I can screenshot it (so it's not a big issue right now)

Installed 11/26 nightly and tried GPS and again another soft boot. Turned GPS off, started maps and of course no problem. Tried again after turning GPS on and again hit with soft boot. Came back to it some time later thinking WTF might as well and low and behold all is well. All apps that utilize GPS which is nearly everything these days seems to be running fine.
I can not explain it but am happy! It's now a DD.
should the bootup take very long? I've been sitting here for 20mins for it to finish booting up. has anyone experienced any bootloops on initial startup?

* Unified recovery builds as of TWRP 3.0.0-0, same build for both Z00A/Z008
Can I use a custom kernel with these builds?
* At your own risk, don't complain here if something gets broken in the process
*Also, doing so makes any feedback useless to us because the kernel and the ROM are a complete package and changing part of that means you may have broken something beyond our control.
Will this be an Official ROM?
* When all the show stopping bugs are fixed and all the upstream commits are merged, yes.
* Until then, no because CyanogenMod has very high standards for accepting new devices.
* As of 3/17/16 we now have official builds
Do I need to unlock the bootloader?
* Yes.
Upgrade from CM-12.1 ?
* Tools have been put in place to make upgrading from 12.1 nightlies smooth however backups are always recommended. Make a backup and attempt upgrade from 12.1 -> 13.0. Make sure to Flash 6.0 gapps at the same time. 6.0 only applies the proper permissions for system apps on first boot.
* If the above fails to load smoothly, restore your backup, take the necessary backups of apps and such and make a clean flash upgrade instead.
EXTERNAL SDCARD in M
* There were major changes in AOSP in the handling of storage.
* Two options :
(1) used as external storage. Removable, plug and play storage like we all know and love.
(2) used as Adoptable storage. non removable, Sdcard becomes an extenstion of your /data partition. Removing Sdcard will cause signifigant data loss.
* On first boot you are presented with the option to choose how to handle your sdcard. CHOOSE WISELY
* read more about this feature in this article from android central
Green lines on Pixelmaster camera/Snapchat
* In the Asus camera app disable "Optimizations", this should clear green lines/distorted pictures here.
* In Snapchat, issue is far less intrusive and there is no workaround.
C-APPS
They're are currently no C-APPS packages for CM-13. Due to the way M handles system app permissions this is not likely to be available at any time in CM13.
I'd like to make a donation
Support of this project is a joint effort between @crpalmer and @jrior001. Many users like to show support via Donations. If you feel so inclined to support us in this manner you can do so HERE(jrior001) and HERE(crpalmer). Donations are by no means expected, but always appreciated.

Awesome!!! But... Must.. Resist... The urge.... Aauuggggh.
Updates issues and notes on upgrading from cm-12.1 .
RIL connectivity is not very good right now, requires manual setup on most sims. Clean install w/gapps is preferred, but CM team goes to great lengths to make sure upgrade path is smooth so a flash-able update from 12.1 nightly "should " work fine. Just make sure to flash your gapps w/ROM prior to rebooting. Flashing gapps later is not something that is going to work well for you.

I manually ran a z00a build to test the setup. Assuming all goes well, there will be a z008 build tomorrow.

Requirements
* You must read this post completely
* You must have flashed a stock MM update to update the firmware to a version that is compatible with these builds. Search xda for the best way to do so for your device.
* You must use the search first and make sure your question has not been answered yet!
Important note:
Stock Firmware B360 is known to cause bootloops!
All others might work, please do not ask in here how to up- or downgrade!

Before posting on this thread, make sure of a few things:
You've utilized the search function of the forums. Nothing irritates us more than lazy people who do not search for an answer before asking or ask the same question over and over again.
If you are the only one having a problem. Boot into recovery, wipe data/factory reset, reflash the rom/gapps and nothing else. Boot up and see if the problem persists.
LOGS LOGS LOGS!!!! Use this: SysLog by Tortel
If you have a hard reboot (to the vendor boot logo, not the CM boot logo), use adb or any other file explorer tool to pull a copy of
/sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops (command: adb pull /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops)
after the reboot and provide that.
Note: We will not support any kind of modification on the ROM not done by our sources. If you are running XPosed, Kernel Booster or whatever occurs to you, we won't support you in any way. The problem will in every case be treated as the additional softwares' fault (because often it is!)

(Note: Not required to run the ROM)
We are using Open GApps (Link) Arm64 version. (make sure to use 64bit when using other packages), others might also be working
Note: In case you want to use any gapps, YOU MUST install the right gapps the first time that you flash a marshmallow ROM. Do not boot with an older gapps or without one and then try to install it later.
Note: If you install a package which replaces the default dialer (mostly "Stock Gapps") you have to go to Settings->Apps->Gear-Icon and set the new dialer as a default telephony app to prevent force closing of apps

If all goes well, in the next run of builds on the CM servers you will be now getting official updates.
When that happens, I'll turn off my unofficial builds and request that the unofficial thread be closed to avoid confusion.
The official builds should be exactly the same with a few minor points:
* You no longer have to trust that I'm not evil and doing something nasty to your builds because a neutral third party is building them. Don't worry, I wasn't doing anything to the builds but keep that in mind when flashing random builds...
* You will now be able to download OTA updates.
* You will now be able to get changelogs (via cmxlog.
The only real negative is that my builds tend to be more predictable because I'm building only a handful of devices instead of running a much larger build system like CM does. If a build is slow, don't worry it will come...
Wow, that's great news! Thank you so much for all of your hard work, we really appreciate all the time and effort you put into making this project grow to become a success!
I hope others will also understand the painstaking steps you go through to add or resolve any issue instead of outright demanding a feature in the future. (you know exactly what I'm talking about, I won't even mention those dreaded words that you have ignored.) You deserve a medal, man.
New to the honor thanks for this love cm!!!

See the third!!! post for your answer! And just to add: I won't accept as many stupid posts again and will talk to the mods if there's smth we can do against that, once I get annoyed further....
@Sasi4385: None of the builds on crpalmer's server are the official ones, none has been built yet. The link will be updated to somewhere at downloads.cyanogenmord.org where the official ones will be available soon
@bullet25: You are lucky that currently it's only a switch of build server (crpalmer -> cyanogenmod server) so it's basically the same as before, just the download source will change (as soon as an official build is online)

I can confirm the message above. I tried updating OTA from the 01Aug2016 unofficial and it happened. Then I wiped everything and did a clean install with OpenGapps on top. It happened just the same.
For me, the reboot trigger is pressing "back" to return from an app into the home screen.

No, its not ready yet.

I've installed the ROM and this is the bug I've found.
1. First picture from camera is black
2. CM file manager need root to access SD card
3. If you're trying to view image from camera gallery will hang.
Installed tonight, have been trying to get to build on my VirtualBox for a few days, getting stuck on my noobness. Runs dang smooth for an experimental build. RIL, Bluetooth, WIFI both on 2.4g and 5.0g, and Camera all work, only FC I've received was in trying to access IMS settings, but I imagine that is because we do not have full IMS support for this device yet. My thanks for remaining our maintainer bryan2984, I would say this build is ready for the flip to Nightly status. I will continue to test and play. Kudos man!
Running 11/11 build, definite butta. Definitely ready for nightlies here.

The changelog page linked simply says device not supported. Are nightlies going to start rolling out soon or am I missing something? I'm quite excited to try this but am not willing to go back to stock to flash it.
I will agree about the 11/11 build. Things are working great. The screen is not turning off when I answer a phone call though and auto brightness is not working very well (the screen is very dark) but it isn't a big issue. Maybe it is an issue with the proximity sensor or something.
Everything else is smooth.

You don't need to go back to stock in order to flash this. When he says not to flash it over cm13 he is talking about dirty flashing. No matter what rom you're using right now the steps are the same. Reboot to recovery, make a backup, wipe data system dalvik and cache, then flash the rom & Gapps and reboot.

:good: Running 11/11 here also, runs very well. Problems so far:
Screen does not turn off when answering a call
Auto brightness makes the screen very dim
Apps do not rotate into full screen
Accelerometer doesn't seem to work. Downloaded GPS Status & Toolbox and ran a diagnostic, sensors were not found.
I wonder why d851 isnt getting nightlies yet
Hopefully soon. I'd like to keep using this, but the screen rotation problem is becoming bothersome
Cm14.1 - 11-23-16
No nightlies yet, but in the meantime, here's a new build. It should fix the sensor issues some of you were having.

our savior! thanks again Bryan, downloading right now!:fingers-crossed:
Awesome, downloading now. I'll test and let you know. Thanks!
Works great!
Proximity sensor working
Adaptive brightness works better
Auto rotate working
Accelerometer and sensors are found now and seem to be working
Installed the ROM today just as a test-bed for the LG QuickRemote. Trying to duplicate a problem someone had elsewhere (CM14.1 on a non-G3 LG).
Didn't really kick the tires but most things are working well.
The aforementioned issue with the File manager is still there. It and the built-in root aren't playing well with each other. Does that also happen with SuperSU?
