Now that root is available, list what you've done. - T-Mobile LG G5 Guides, News, & Discussion

I'm absolutely ecstatic that root is now an option. Huge thanks to the devs that worked so hard to achieve it.
Now that we have it, I thought I'd start a thread asking what everyone's done so far.
Here's all I've done.
1. Installed Viper4Android.
2. Installed AdAway.
Sent from my LG-H830 using Tapatalk

Installed
1. AdAway
2. Titanium Backup
Uninstalled
1. Google Docs, Sheets
2. Lookout
3. T- Mobile carrier iQ and other crap (excluding visual Voicemail)
4. LG Update (So they don't try and patch my stuff without me knowing)
5. LG E-mail
6. Facebook and Chrome, Re-installed under user app partition

Xposed. G4 tweaksbox worked great

Xposed framework installer/sdk
ES file explorer (haven't gotten root to work on it yet)
Might try Greenify soon. Looks like theres some bugs though for Marshmallow.

I was able to flash the Sony Beats version from reading this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/help/able-to-viper4android-t3363437. Seems to work fine.

Ok, so I've installed G4 Tweaksbox and set a few things. Restarted, and now it's stuck at the white T-Mobile splash screen. I've tried holding down the power button, but it won't reset. Any thoughts?

I finally got it back up. I had to pull the battery, then go into twrp and wipe cache.
I was trying to do the tinted bars mod so both the status and navigation bars are the same color of whatever app I'm in. The status bar works, but the navigation bar won't take.

Disable startup sound
/System/media/audio/ui/PowerOn.ogg
Replace with blank sound (Google for it)
No easy way yet to disable the wifi calling notification (ipservice, cannot disable this notification. Don't think I can freeze it)
Same for keyboard notification (when you are typing in a text box)

so cool

I couldn't get ES to use root in my G4 or S6 Edge. I switched to Solid Explorer and boy is it nicer! It has also worked with root on all both of those and my G5. Give it a shot. ES seems to be a bit bloated these days.

First and foremost i would like to say that i did not do this alone. With the help of Ogdobber, we got it working! its only right that i give half the credit to him! Since the first day owning this device, i tried numerous times to try and get it working, and now finally here it is!!
[THIS SHOULD WORK ON ALL VARIANTS (VERIZON AND ATT) WITH A CUSTOM RECOVERY, HOWEVER ITS TESTED FOR SURE ON TMOBILE]--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INSTRUCTIONS.. (MUST BE ON A DEOXDED TOUCHWIZ ROM. stock odexed roms will not work with this fix! I am running wicked V2 and it is confirmed working..)
10/5/2013 update.... Due to the new wallet verson, a build.prop change is NOT necessary... this can now be simplified into 2 very easy setep.
Step 1 .. Download my lib fix file and the modified wallet zips here..

reboot and setup wallet and youre golden!

Tried this on Wicked v2, and the first time I ran the Wallet app, it FC'd. However, launching it a second time, it succeeded. Not sure why, thought it was odd, but now it's up and running. Woot.
I do get the 'Unsupported Device' at top, but other than that it seems to fire off okay.

Will I get LTE on my carrier?
This can enable Band 4 LTE on the nexus 4. T-Mobile in the USA uses this for their entire current LTE network. AT&T in US uses it in select locations. Various carriers in Canada and Mexico are also using Band 4. Check the link above for your carrier.
Looks nice, man. I've already got an LTE modem installed, but will be handy for going back to stock.

What do you guys think I should do something like this http://puu.sh/6iywW.png ? Or just leave just the 3 tabs , without the left drawer. I can put the Phone info menu (*#*#4636#*#*) in the overflow menu(top 3 tabs) along with about instead of the left drawer. Idk if its really needed
Edit: Or this maybe http://puu.sh/6iyQN.png , I think this might be the better option ?
Three tabs + overflow menu is fine. However, if you go with the left menu I'd say put everything in it & get rid of the overflow menu.

Everything works fine for me on CNA ROM with Supersu installed. Do you have SuperSU and busybox?(most roms have busybox installed)
Depending on your data speed it could take awhile to download the 20MB modem.zip. I am going to be adding a download progress bar soon.
Anyone else having any issues?
I did find a "bug" that prevents the 'Enable LTE' button to actually work on ROMs with Selinux enforcing (CM and I believe stock). It is fixed and I will be releasing beta 2 soon.

And NFC, this works?
I was bored so I went ahead and flashed this. Aroma installer was extremely thorough with quite a few options. ROM booted quickly and has been running without any significant issue, except...
No 3G/4G data and I can not, for the life of me, find an option to update my data proifle. The settings menu (that I may have chosen during the Aroma installer) is set up a bit differently then stock.
EDIT: For now I will be returning to PA. I do like the overall fit and finish of this ROM and will try it again when I can find a data solution.
Downloading.....

I bet you didn't set your APN. I thought this was obvious. I apologize.

I didn't, but this was a very informal flash. I would have investigated some dialer options if I had planned to run it exclusively.

As thorough as I was in reading the set up instructions I did miss this step. Having to manually set the APN is a first for me and may be for others. You may want to highlight that step in the instructions.
Although I may be the only dummy to miss it...lol.
NFC is not working. Gps being in my backyard 10 minutes .. Connect Thanks for the ROM
After seeing what went down with the other FLEX ROM, I just want to make sure...
1. This is for the LS980, as in it won't disable CDMA/LTE data, or turn the phone into a D80X?
2. It won't require a .tot to get back from?
3. Satan won't eat my cat if I flash this?

I would like to know as well; I remember about a week or so ago, a user who I believe is no longer here (banned from website) uploaded a ROM that was supposedly international ROM for LS980 (sprint versions) of the LG G2 and SOOOOOOO many people bricked their phone. Not saying this is the case by any means at all, but .........(if the shoe fits)
Is this a global ROM? Unlocked for carriers? I have sprint lg g2 I use on T-Mobile. Just wondering if this will still work

Hour? I'm sorry. I work. Lol. Just got off actually. Don't flash it if you don't want to.

Ok so im newbie. Been using the galaxy seris.. First time using lg. Anyways i wanted to theme my home screen and looked everywhere. Than i was messing with the settings in menu>home and because i have the g3 tweakbox installed it gave me the hidden option at the bottom.
I clicked it. Typed in theme and checked anything that would activate theme. And BAM!!!!

Could you possible make a redsox theme?
Does your phone have to be rooted in order for this to work?

How did you get it to save your settings? I activated the theme settings from the hidden menu but whenever I go back to home screen preferences the theme options are still missing. I checked the hidden menu again and every setting that I had activated is no longer checked.

Edit: I was looking in the wrong place to change the keyboard theme. Got it working now. Home themes working great too. Thanks for the tutorial!

Alright I don't know what happened the first time but it stuck the second time and themes are working great now! Do you have keyboard themes working too? I downloaded one from smart world and went to use it and I don't have the keyboard theme option unless I'm doing it wrong.

If anyone has an issue, there is one setting that must remain "false." Hide theme settings must be unchecked
