RSS-Feed/JSON per Forum - About xda-developers.com

Hi All
Regarding our work at XDA Assist, I'm struggling to come with a Chrome Extension that would speed up our support effort there. For this purpose, a RSS Feed of that forum's threads would be awesome to start with but the last reference to whatever RSS source was
XDA-developers now offers RSS feeds by @Peter Poelman
Previously, we had "external.php" answering these request but no more.
EDIT: A JSON resultset would be awesometastical.
Someone has any insight into this?
Thank you very much.
Nice regards.
.

Check out https://api.xda-developers.com/explorer/ - this is our API which returns results in JSON.

Hi bitpushr
Thanks a lot. It is indeed awesometastical!!!
Unfortunately there is no "Report Post" operation which, regarding XDA Assist Workflow (below), is an essential feature.
[SUGGESTION] XDA Assist Contributor Workflow
It may not fit those specific requirements but it's an amazing feature !!! :good:
Again, thank you very much.

[Q] Members Online Tool...

Well,i see on the end of the page, the members who are online at that particular moment...cant we make it forum specific???i mean this would help members to see who is online in their respective forum and thus,if there are questions,we can PM that without wasting much of a time...this would also help the forums be more friendly and helpful....the Members Online tool is a good idea, but it doesnt really reveal as to which forum the member belongs to...also,hunting for a green spot along side the names in the threads becomes tedious and time consuming...
I'm guessing it would add a performance overhead to the page load times. Not many people visit the index.
It's up to the admins whether or not this get's changed though.

Well it could always be made an option that is disabled by default. That way only users who really would like the ability would see it (it could be coded in such a way that there would be no wasted resources used if disabled). Personally I would like to see this and some donation-users only features. I think it would be a great way to add services while covering overhead prices.
$Not many people visit the index.$
when you mark all forums as read your go to index..
please hide this featuare.. ..online user.. for my an normal user is unusable.

I was just thinking of a sort of buzzer (with a chat option) to get someone attention, for now if you have a conversation with another member you always have to refresh your page to see if you have an pm.

yeah, but still a enable/disable option for forum online members is also a good idea!!!

[Q] How do I unsubscribe from a *forum* (not a thread)?

As I've progressed through devices, I've added subscriptions to device forums. Some of these I'd like to remove from my list of subscriptions, but I can't find any way to do this.
When clicking Forum Tools in said forums, I am only given the option to subscribe (again?).
Looking forward to any hints you may give.
Cheers, and thanks for a fantastic community!

Looks like the link is missing, it's a bug in the new theme
You can either hand craft the URL like so http://forum.xda-developers.com/subscription.php?do=addsubscription&f=263
or
use the XDA Classic theme (theme selector is bottom left) - this has the Unsubscribe menu option.

Now fixed (by the admins )

Forum RSS feeds

Sorry for the stupid question, i'm sure the forums had RSS links for each individual section of the forum but I can't seem to find it any more.
Could someone point me in the right direction or have they been removed?
anyone?
For some reason we don't have an icon for it.
Here's the URL for this forums' RSS feed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=263
Just replace the forumids=xxx with the forumId of the one you want to subscribe to.
Thanks
Dave
thanks, just what I was after
I've searched through the XDA archives but can't find any way to subscribe to an individual thread (not just forum ID) via RSS. Is this something that currently works?
Thanks.

Hi lio, thanks for that. I'm still trying to generate an RSS feed for within a thread though. So for instance I'm trying to get a feed for the following thread data:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=765
... and feedburner gives me the following two feeds:
Code:
xda-developers - Desire HD Android Development - RSS Feed: [url]http://forum.xda-developers.com/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=765[/url]
xda-developers RSS Feed: [url]http://forum.xda-developers.com/external.php?type=RSS2[/url]
... both of which are not generating from within the thread, they're just listing the different forums themselves. If you see what I mean?
These links no longer work
Is there some other link that we can use?
+1
I know this is an old thread, but I'd settle for an RSS of my "Subscribed Threads & Forums" page. That alone would be enough for me...

Seems no viable solution exists...
I too would like this. I see XDA has their own feed reader app for the forum. Maybe they disabled RSS feeds so that we'd be forced to use their app so they can make $$? Kind of gay, RSS feeds allow me to check multiple forums from one list on one app.
Closest thing I found searching the forums is this: https://feeds.feedburner.com/xda-developers/ and maybe it can be modified to show the forum that you want?

View a List of Posts I Thanked?

I'm wondering if it is possible to view a list of all the posts I have thanked. I looked around in my profile and it appears that I can only view thanked posts that other people have given to me. Instead, I want to see a list of all the thanks I have given out. I want to do this because a lot of the posts I thank have very useful information and I would like to view them later for future reference. Is this possible?

Is it possible to add this feature in the future? Up until now I had been using thanks kind of like bookmarks for posts that had useful information. I didn't realize I couldn't go back to them easily though.
Site admin needs to install newer version of Thank You plugin
Same discussion on Maemo forum got someone to find how to do this: http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=171347&postcount=20
But this has to be done by the forum administrators by installing a newer version (7.2 or above) of "Post Thank You Hack" that gives the Thank You functionality to vBulletin: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=122944
Admins, This is a very good-to-have feature. Could you please upgrade the Thank You hack to 7.2 or above?

This would be pretty awesome if the admins if could enable it.
yes that would be useful.
Someone said this command would work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/post_thanks.php?do=findthanks_user_gave&u=<uid>
but guess it only works if the forum has the right plugin.

I thought that plugin allows users to see the thanks they gave. Apparently, it doesn't.
Anyways, please address the main point of this thread - ability to see the posts thanked BY us.
I'd like to do this also, really wanted to see a specific post I thanked and it is lost in hundreds of pages
