D855: Top of touch screen not working - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Since I flashed my LG G3 with LG flash tool, the top touch screen area doesn't work, making me unable to use the notification area.
I tried with a touch screen test application and about half centimer is not working in the top.
Somebody already encounter this?

Hey, you mean a part of screen is simply dead? I've had a very similar problem, only with my phone it was the middle of the screen, like on the video i recorded - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_R1aGVUWhs
If your phone is on warranty, send it for repair, because it's probably faulty digitizer. If not - there are 2 options. 1 - pay for the repair of the damaged digitizer (or it could be simply not well connected, but you won't be able to tell yourself because the lcd and digitizer are not separetable, at least in theory, because it is possible, but highly unsafe). The other option is what I decided to do - you need to get a lighter with a one click button and do the same as this guy does - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VERfODYHX3g. It worked for me, at least it works temporary, but I heard if you do it a couple of times it will work permanently

Thanks guy!!!
It worked with me too!

It didn't work for me right away either. I had to reply it a couple of times over 3 days, but it's permanently fixed now. Just keep trying

I don't know if it's related but my FM radio is not working anymore. No sound, search find inexistant radio stations.

Touchscreen problem

My phone touchscreen is not working whenever the screen backlight went off and whenever the screen is lock. It again works for sometime after rebooting or flashing stock rom and the same problem starts again. I have also updated my touchscreen firmware but it doesn't solve the problem. Please help me. Please. Don't tell me to go to samsung care coz my warranty period is over and there is no samsung care centre at my place.. Otherwise, I have to say good bye to my Galaxy y from today. Please, please, please help me.

You have done everything that's i would have told you - flashed stock , updated touch screen fw !
And i can't tell you to go to ssc
Anyway lemme just get some answers first :
Did this problem begin all of a sudden at random or do you remember doing anything that could have caused it ?
Also you sure the digitizers are okay ? You on stock 'kernel' right ?

Its too technical you can Google to know more - simply a digitizer is an interface that converts analogue inputs to digital ones - they are the main component of your capacitive or any other touch screen .
I know this because recently i had a similar touch screen problem but not entirely like yours as mine wasn't working at all no matter you reboot or lock - and i had to get the digitizer replaced to get things back to working

Google you'll fine plenty but make sure that its a digitizer problem before repairing ! Yours sound like some kind of bug to me as touch doesn't respond after back light goes off and works fine all other time .
Maybe someone else will have better solution wait
try that when u are on stock (rom, kernel, etc)...
just dont install any app...
try if for a time..
nd tell if the problem is still there
rooting is new for me...and i am noob to root...

Touch Sensor Issue

hi,
i have a weird(for me atleast) issue, full screen touch is working ok except the bottom Home Menu Back Search button touch
sometime it suddenly started working and again stopped. i do a factory reset and it was working fine like for 15 days and yesterday it was connected to PC for charging and when i pull it from Pc the bottom 4 buttons wasnt working.
was using SuperCharge Option of mobogenie .... dont know if its the issue or what ..
now thing is i give it to a repair shop and they check and found nothing so they are like we need to change the sensor. any help ....
thanks
If you are rooted.
Try flashing a new rom or else, flash you rom once again.
When, rooted after you change anyther in /system, even a factory reset would not help.

sounds more like digitzer. You can buy the parts on ebay and there is a very good youtube video to follow. I replaced the LCD on my G2 and it took 1.5hrs (youtube video was ~30min).
Thanks bradley_e_smith, and when i was reading the email about your comment all 4 buttons started working and i installed "LockScreen Free" so all the important apps could be on lock screen for easy access and after installing and setting up lock screen button was dead again
so for time being till i replace digitizer all good

Touchscreen problems

So I am having this problem since 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 update. Once or twice a day the screen won't respond to touch. Should I use a custom kernal or this might be a hardware problems.

How do you fix it when it happens? Do you have to restart? Does the touch fail or does the tablet freeze?
Honestly not very sure what you could do, besides maybe trying a factory reset? That would work if a software problem.
What about cleaning it and removing any screen plastic guard.
U can say it freezes then I have to restart it. This is happening after two factory resets.

Same issue here, I think.
Just purchased a refurbished Nexus 7 (official factory refurbished) from Amazon. My touch screen works great for a day or so, but eventually touch stops working altogether and sometimes requires a hard-reboot (holding the power for 10-seconds). Downloaded a touch screen test app which works great (even with ten fingers on the screen), tracking well on all parts of the screen. It's just like the touch atrophies over time until it stops working.
First thing I did to the tablet after getting it was to unlock the bootloader and load stock/rooted 4.4.4. Is there some way to update the touchscreen firmware that I'm missing?
I don't want to open this thing up and muck with the hardware for fear of damaging it. I'm holding out hope that there is a software fix, because rebooting fixes it right up.

Oops - I looked at the link to the hardware fix, but not the firmware fix. Thanks, I'll give this a try first.
Firmware fix above seems to have alleviated the issue for me. At least I haven't seen the issue over the last several days, which is good news. Hopefully that holds up over the long term. :good:

[Q] Touch screen erratic after installing wrong pxz2

Hi. I installed the wrong version of PureXperiaZ2 rom, then after that, the touch screen became erratic. There are some points that work whenever I touch it, and on other parts, its reversed. I installed back the custom rom, then the right PXZ2 rom, but still, the touch screen is erratic. Is there any way to solve this problem? Thank you in advance.
When u use the stock rom was it okay?

i m having the same problem i booted with a wrong recovery.img
the service center says 6500 for replacing the touch screen
dont know willhave to put a duplicate one
a little different than what you expect!
if the Service centre guy finds it a touch issue then it is a hardware issue
as the recovery image is just for changing software or ROMS it can rarely affect a device touch .and it might be possible that you may not find a duplicate touch for the device !
I found dulpicate one after searching a lot they are changing it for 1500!!
Thanks for the reply

[SOLVED][Q] Gyroscope not working.

:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
hi, i use the htc one m9 (dev eddition), i reside in india and had shipped this phone from the us.
my g-sensor(gyroscope) has an issue, it does not work anymore, it worked for the first few days but then it just stopped, nothing triggered it , it happened all of a sudden, ive tried several factory resets, wiping my cache from recovery and recaliberating the g sensor in both normal and safe mode( what i noticed here is that only the up/down moment is detected by the virtual spiritlevel, but not the left /right), but nothing worked for me. please let me know what to do to get my g-sensor working back again.
(is there a way i dont have to ship the phone to the us for repairs?)(htc one m9 not launching in india.)(i spoke to coustomer care , they didnt have the info for m9)
thanks in advance

I had this exact thing happen to my first M9. Worked for a few days, then quit working for no reason.
Sorry to say, it's a hardware issue and will require repairing or replacing.

Yes, I'm in the US. I got my M9 from Verizon and since I was within my 14 day return period, I simply took it in to the Verizon store where I bought it, showed them the problem, and they replaced it for free on the spot.

i got the solution, this is crazy but works...
go to help app(the one htc pre-installed on ur phone)
then go to hardware misbehaving?
hardware diagnostics
G-sensor test.
test it once , or twice. let it say failed.
next from that screen tap on calibrate g sensors
do the calibration on a flat surface
go back and do the test. this time it will say it worked.
and acctually, it did work, my autorotate , riptide, dot-breaker, everything based on gyroscope sensor is now working fine !!
