I dont have my Max yet, but wanted to ask for bootloader unlock because i was reading that it could take a while....so i already began.
I was on the Miui.com page to get unlocked.
I signed up and in
Stated my name and phone number, placed a reason and clicked on apply
I got the info that the message has been sent.
Notting happens on my phone.....? (which isnt the MAX yet)
Is this what they say regarding to have to wait so long ? For that sms message ??? Or did i do something wrong, or because it isnt my max yet ???
Hope you can clear this for me

It should take less than 5 minutes did you enter your country code in front of your number?
Doesn't matter what the phone is. I did the same thing, applied for unlocking permissions a week before I got my Mi Max, received permission granted text 5 days after (Mi Max still on the way). Must be something with the phone service not receiving texts from China...?!
It is not because they did not get your request for unlocking bootloader, it is because they are reviewing your request. Don't you read the t&c? ??
Did you get yours? Current wait time seems to be three days. I applied at some point on Monday, and got my code early Thursday morning

Well..... I tried several times and with the 5th try i got through.... Now its under investigation or something like that

this is my problem, i cant have the sms, in the pop up say: w ww.miui.co m dice: and chinese letters and next say FAILED!

Weird. I just downloaded the Mi unlock app, entered in my Mi account information and was able to unlock instantly. Maybe it's because I'm a platinum member on their forums.

i had a redmi note 3 in early this year and asked for unlocked the bootloader. I got the SMS but had no devices because i sold my redmi.
As i got my Mi Max i had a shop Rom really annoying so i just downloaded the unlock tool and unlocked it without anny issues.
I think if you once get unlocked you can unlock every device with your Mi Account.
Dont know but i think so. Im active in the Mi Forum as well.

Once you have unlock permission from Xiaomi you can unlock any device but have to wait 30 days in between.
I received my Mi Max but straight talk is telling me that they do not recognize the MEID, IMEI, numbers. I have 2 IMEI slots. Straight talk said they couldn't find those numbers in their system. I talked to straight talk several times before I bought this phone and they told me that the max was compatible with their network. So How do I make it work? And what is the advantage of downloading the bootloader. I'm not a computer type guy so all this tech stuff is really new to me.

Put a sim card from from another provider to your phone. Than it will ask you to put the unlock code.

I tried Almost all Netowk Sim, but same, even without sim it is on emergency,
any other idea plz ?
or flashing will help ?
You better e-mail to : support @ x02ht-unlock.com , and they have check your imei and give the Japanese Rom to you.

However, I'd like to post some feed-back about people behind http://www.x02ht-unlock.com/
( Dear forum admins, PLEASE do not remove this message. It's quite emotional, but I'm posting it to achieve one of two possible results. And every one of them is positive enough:
- people behind x02ht-unlock.com would hear me finally, and help to solve my problem (and, probably, I'm not the only one who has the same problem, but couldn't get any feedback via the support form);
=OR=
- someone wouldn't spend $50.00 for no result. )
Their support was more than terrible: they replied to all my questions promptly, but only until I finally sent them money for an unlock code ($50.00).
The current state: my phone is still not locked, and no one at support @ x02ht-unlock.com is willing to even talk to me on this problem.
I've done everything according to the instructions, but still get "SIM locked" message. I've sent them my problem's description (and even attached a screenshot), and no one replied to me. I sent problem description via email and using their "Send a question" form. Both both were left without _any_ reply.
It now seems to me, that they're cheating and the program never worked for anybody (someone on the internet can say it works, but who can be sure that he's not the person who receives money for that program?)
Even if the program is working, in fact, but they simply don't know how to solve my problem -- they could tell me about that and offer to return my money (because the program didn't its function). So, it's cheating anyway.
The worst thing is that PayPal won't cancel this transaction under any condition. Here's what they say:
We have completed our investigation of this case. No further action is
required by you at this time. We have denied this claim. As stated in
our User Agreement, PayPal?s Buyer Complaint Policy only applies to
the shipment of goods, not to disputes about the attributes or quality

1. Power on phone with a non-original SIM card inserted
2. When prompted, enter unlock code you received from us
Attention! Use the onscreen keyboard and make sure that wireless mode is OFF.
3. Your cell phone is now unlocked
If you see a message Sim lock.. You can still make emergency calls your phone has a blocked counter due to several previous incorrectly entered unlock codes. Plug your phone in charger and wait about few minutes to few days until it allow you enter unlock ...

if tried 2 times = 1 hours
if tried 3 times = 2 hours
if tried 4 times = 4 hours
if tried 5 times = 8 hours
if tried 6 times = 12 hours

I bought a Samsung Captivate Glide i927 (Rogers), and it was locked. In my country, I went to a local phone shop and they unlocked the phone. But after 1 month of normal using, the phone was locked again. So I went again and unlock the phone for the second time. Unfortunatly, after 1 month of using, the phone was locked again. Why? I don't know.
It was after I was restarting the phone. The phone asked me to enter the PIN code as usual. I entered the PIN code that I usually enter which is 0000. The phone writes "code accepted" then after 1 second the phone shows a black screen in which I read that the PIN code is incorrect and I have to contact the provider. I can use the phone applications, but I can't call or send a text message. I always receive "Not registered on the network". When I write *#746562#, the phone give me a list of information in which I read "Network Lock [ON]".
How to unlock my phone Again? Where I have to get the unlocking code? Is it free? is it for 1 month or for ever? What is the problem in my phone? Is there a trusted website where I can buy the unlocking code forever?
I unlocked an SGH-I927R in a way that's kept the IMEI intact and that's not out of reach for anyone with a bit of technical ability. It does require ADB, a hex editor and either root or CWM.

This came way too late ... I used Fast-GSM ... it takes longer than usual, I don't get an actual unlock code but did it with my ACE as well.
Its a bit more expensive, but hook his app up via USB w/ debugging, run the unlock tool whamo. Unlimited ROM installed, rebooting etc. Cyangenmod and it stayed unlocked.
Now, also on my i927r (Rogers) same deal stays unlocked.
I do wish I had seen this thread earlier, great that there's free ways to unlock it and pull out the code. Big thanks for doing that write up!

This is the only thing left to solve for a working phone. AT&T branded E980, but trying to use another carrier. Entering code "2945#*980#" gets me to the "SIM unlock process" 5 category unlock screen. They are all clickable, but the message "Your phone is not personalized" pops up on all of them, with the unlock code area grayed out, & then a "dismiss" message pops up. I can't enter an unlock code in a grayed out screen. With all of the software available, there must be one that allows USB unlocking. Can someone please point me in the right direction, even if I have to pay to have it done.

What good is a code if you can't access the unlock screen because it's grayed out? BTW, I may have not been crystal clear in other started posts, but I did buy it unlocked, even though it wasn't what we would consider unlocked, & the vendor wont admit it wasn't fully unlocked. I made the mistake of having played with it since then (my mistake), figuring it was returnable, but can't get around the grayed out code unlock screen.
Then I don't know what to tell you bud ...... Keep searching

Sent the phone out for warranty service. Received it back a few days ago with a voided warranty & a SOL message. Not happy. Today I looked for a local business that could help out. It was a fun day running around to different cell phone stores that listed unlocking as a service. I finally found one that knew what they were doing. They claimed the phone was already unlocked, & tried an AT&T prepaid SIM to test it. After it passed that test, all it took was a call to Metro to register the IMEI on their network, & then entering the correct APN numbers. I now have a fully functioning E980. As for the seller & the warranty center, pretty obvious they don't have a clue & need some lessons on customer service.

Ahhhh...... No. I figured out what the APN was from my other phone & entered it manually. It's the same one that's in there now, so it was a different problem causing the non-connection. The phone automatically found both AT&T, MPCS, & some other unidentifiable networks by searching. It wouldn't automatically connect, then it timed out. Then when the APN was manually entered it would save, but still wouldn't connect. It had to be registered manually with MPCS, through MPCS, & by MPCS. In fact, when I popped the SIM card in & started the phone, it would find MPCS, the company icon would briefly show on the screen, & then it would disconnect. After they registered the IMEI, it took a couple of minutes to find the phone over the network & connect. It's all good now.
Just so you know, if you are getting the "Your phone is not personalized" message, that means the phone is already network unlocked.

There was some confusion about that in other forum posts, because the wording wasn't exact compared known unlocked conditions. It can now be added to that group of known unlocked terms.
My G4 was produced january 2016 (601 in s/n). Recently it started freezing and crashing randomly. The frequency of said crashes increased more and more. This issue seems to be ROM-independent (I only tested MM ROMs though). I flashed full stock now and it's still crashing. I suspect a hardware failure.
Some people from another forum (android-hilfe) had a similar problem w/ the 602 models.
I sent it to LGs RMA, even though its bootloader was unlocked. They replaced the Main/RF-Board (for free w/o any hassle), will test if it crashes the next few hours.
Ok, no crashes until now. The only problem is, that the bootloader is locked again. When trying to unlock, the web app told me that the device ID was unmatched. Talked to [email protected]. They requested a picture of the label w/ the IMEI, the IMEI and the device ID. Said they will match them within 2-4 business days.
Will report back in when I receive the next mail.

I've just received the mail confirming they've added the new device-id to the system. I was able to successfully generate the unlock.bin, unlock the bootloader and flash twrp and a ROM.
Colleagues,
A customer (an older Mr. with a teenager) brought me a note 8t (note 8 pro) to unlock, whe power on go to a screen: "this device is locked this device is associated with an existing Mi Account. For security reasons, you need to enter the password to verify the device" - So what happens: the boy had a chip and was not putting a credits (here the telecom block pre-paid chip when you dont put credits each month), until the telecom canceled the number, and the boy didn't care much for that and bought another chip and some time after, he says he had to reset, anyway, the cell phone turns on and enters the Mi account's length screen, he doesn't remember his password and can't recover, because the code goes to his old number that has been canceled and he has no more.
I'm a technician, but I usually always took care of hardware, I never performed a service more related to software like that.
I didn't find anything on the internet about unlocking the Note 8 Pro, I got here:

Sadly as far as I am aware you need to either already have access to the xiaomi account to remove the device, or input the password on the device to unlock it. For security purposes clearly.

Indeed clearly is for security reason (stolen phone? sounds like a fishy story).
But is not it possible to recover via email? Because if I remember correctly we also had to provide an email upon Mi Account creation. I am not sure because I never had to recover yet, but is not a link sent to attached email to reset account password?
If the guy neither have original number, password or email, that's smells way more than fishy to me
