Standby drain - OnePlus 3 Real Life Review

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the OnePlus 3's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

about the same, very minimal drain, if any.

I'm having the Android System drain. Phone is continuously awake. I just cannot figure out what's causing it. Tried everything from factory reset to discharging the battery completely. The CPU just doesn't sleep.
Any suggestion?

Losing about 8% over night

Keep your phone in flight mode and leave it our night. Drain could be caused by continues search for near by reception. Report back here!

I think I may have isolated the problem. I have turned off On body detection and I'm not observing the as much drain now. But it's been only 20 mins so I need to test it out extensively.
I'll report back with observations.
EDIT: Nope, it's still there. Even in airplane mode, Android System is continuously working the CPU.

Change the rom. Use wakelockdetector to find why its awake.

I lose 2-3% over night.

Battery life is poor over here lol

You are probably affected by this bug. A loooooooot of users are and google is not even working on it.

The only way to fix is turn off backup of google account.

It's already off. I have never used Google Backup on any of my phones. The only things that are being synced are my contacts and email. I'm completely stumped here. I'm assuming there's something wrong with the handset now and I've requested a replacement.
Edit: Also, I get ghost notifications. I hear the sound but when I check the phone, there are no notifications, the phone has heated up and battery has dropped further by 3%. This has happened twice today now.

Battery dropped like a rock overnight

Last night I went to sleep with about 50% battery left. This morning I woke up to see my phone dead. Not sure what happened. The graph is like a straight diagonal line down over the last 4 hours even though it shows screen and everything are off.
I recently installed Light Flow Lite to manage the LED notification. Could this cause the problem?

While I would generally say your phone must've been awake with the screen off...your graph shows it deep sleeping like a champ.
While I personally can't comment on light flow...
I remember a few users narrowing their battery problems down to that app.
So...potentially?
Though...I can't see how it would cause problems without keeping the phone awake.
Edit:
Also...wifi should significantly save battery.
Turn that on when it can be used.
It seems you turned it off when you went to sleep...
But the graph, again, isn't showing signal drips either. Which it should if that was a major battery drain culprit.
Odd stuff man.
Probably just a fluke?!

That's about the same conclusion I came to when I see those pictures. Everything looks just fine, but the battery just fell off of a cliff.

IME wifi drains more power when it's on because it tends to wake the phone up a lot more often than when wifi is off.
That's weird though OP - I use Light Flow with no problems, have for months.

I am baffled too. Actually, I didn't turn off the wifi. Wifi on sleep is set to "only when plugged in", but I found this setting never actually worked ever since I manually updated to 4.04. My phone always keeps wifi on regardless... So the fact that wifi is off in this shot is actually unusual for me. (Maybe because I am still using the old radio?)
Signal is really good in my house. Mobile data is off.
The thing about it being the fluke... This is is actually the second time I caught my phone doing this. Yesterday, I was out and saw a sharp drop in battery while it was supposed to be sleeping. I started using the phone, and the graph levelled out again (you can actually see this in the graph i posted). So I feel like an app was keeping it awake, but I can't tell from the stats...

[Q] Sharp and consistently high battery drainage

Hi, a few days after flashing ICS OrDroidX ROM from Android Revolution HD, I noticed that my phone battery starting to have sharp battery drop, for example after 30 minutes of off screen, it will drop from 97% to 92% based on the log from CurrentWidget. The current drain also extremely high, often stay between 300mA to 600 mA, rarely back to normal with 8mA draining in off screen.
I have done the wiping battery stats from the tutorial, and reflash CM10, however it get back to same battery drain though less severe than before, about 200mA drain on average, the sharp battery percentage drop still there.
Please let me know if there's anything else I can do, my phone is rooted, hence I would try to do anything I can before returning to HTC which I almost certain that they will charge me a lot for replacing a battery. Will battery overheating cause the issue as well? Thanks in advance!
I would say download betterbatterystats from the play store. It can give you information on what is active.

Does it ring any bell that something is wrong? I notice that the awake is somewhat a lot, is that due to kernel issue?
Thanks!

According to that graph, your phone hasn't been in deep sleep, ideally you would want to get a similar graph for Screen On and Awake. Go to -> partial wakelocks and give us a screenshot. Also, your signal doesn't seem very good. Do you usually get 1 bar?

Thanks a lot for the analysis! Yesterday I decided to reflash CM10 and remove all files from SD, and put them back after flashing. I get a similar graph as the previous graph that I posted.
After reflash
Partial wakelocks (because I did a reboot in between, so it shows only a short period of time, however during the screen on period of time, my battery have a awful sharp drop from 39 % to 29 %, a 10% drop in just a second...)
Shortly after I reflash the ROM and put my SD contents back into the phone, media scanner was a horrible process which hog on my CPU, after clearing the data from 'media storage', did several reboot then the phone only return to normal.
For the signal issue, my room never get full bar, normally would be stay around 2-3 out of 4 bar. Will this affect the battery life?
Now the problem seems like got two parts,
1. Screen off battery still drain quite a lot, though not as much as screen on
2. Screen on battery drain is awful, sometimes 5-10% in a just a second

why is my battery so bad all of a sudden?

Last night I went to bed at like 60% battery. I woke up today and my phone is completely dead. I slept for 5-6 hours and its hard to believe that my phone dead. I have NO idea how is this possible?
Here is a SS of my battery. I'm running AOKP(Jellybean 4.1.2)Task & Ktoonsez

You probably got a lot of calls/texts cuz ur screen probably turned on because of the fact its a whopping 49 percent
But the stats are only accounting for 51 minutes of up time, 49% screen usage at that uptime is not difficult to do.
What Rom are you running? Kernel? Did you recently download/install any new apps or games?
Generally this issue is caused by two things, 1) android system going beserk 2) a rogue app keep the phone from going into deep sleep.
Best thing to do is to fully charge it and then let it sit idle for a hour or two and then see what your stats report. Better battery stats is great for pin pointing causes for battery drain.
In the past, I have had a few games cause excessive battery drain as well as android system. The first was easy to remedy, install and reinstall worked 90% of the time while the other 10% required me to completely abandon said app.
Android system is a little trickier, always had to re flash the Rom to fix that, but thanks to data backup nandroid, that only takes a few minutes to backup data, flash Rom and then restore data... leaving me with my phone in the exact state that it was in before, , sans the battery drain.
Good luck bud

Make sure it is going to deep sleep. Change governors sometimes ktnoozconservacts weird so just click o load to defaults reboot and that shohld fix theproblem

Battery drain during standby.

It used to be that with the screen off and the phone on idle with the screen off, I would lose maybe 2% per hour. This morning, my battery quickly dropped to 50% with some phone call but very light use. So I charged it back up to 80%. For the last hour, it dropped about 9% with the screen completely off and I had cleared the memory prior to that. That is unusually high since the phone is sitting in one place in an area that has good 4g and 3g.
How is your standby battery drain? I am on LJC stock rooted.
Edit: reboot phone and now it is better. Loosing 6% in 2 hours of standby. Much better.

Glad a reboot helped. I'd recommend rebooting every day. I usually do it first thing in the morning and before going to bed.
My battery life on LJC rooted was fantastic. Never had a phone like this. My EVO3D with 3300 extended battery was good, but still not as good as the note2.
I experienced a really weird battery drain a few weeks ago but cannot replicate it. However it dropped from 100% to 42% in 2 hours time. Pulled battery recharged it and nothing since. But I usually get 16+ hours a day with extreme usage. I am talking 5 hours of netflix and some pandora and games. On my weekend when I dont use the phone much I get 48 hours usually.

Which app is that? I've been looking for something to view battery current, many I used on HTC phones don't work on Samsung.
Does that app also have a better understanding of what apps are causing battery drain? I'm tired of seeing "Android OS" and not knowing EXACTLY what it is...Might help me diagnose my Fiance's E4GT (GS2) with "Android OS" as the main culprit at 67%...

no battery drain so far
Since 4 days on MM....long way to go until we know for sure though...so far MM seems pretty stable...equal or improved over the previous one.
Quick update from M - 3rd day, 20% battery left. Thanks Sony
After update to MM I turned off gps, wifi and my watch not live more than day. It have about 5% power consumption per hour. What the problem is?
Havn't seen much change yet.
But even when the watch was om 5.1.1 it did good time. Two to four days between charging. Normal two days when using GPS for running every second day.
And so fare it behaves the same on 6.0.1.
No, it didn't. Not because it was 5.1.1's fault but it was app sync's fault.
I had only one battery drain on 6.0.1 - it was right after the very first setup. The same thing happened to me when I was setting up my watch the very first time while on 5.1.1.
On both versions, unpairing the watch, forgetting it in the app, resetting the watch and then, again, pairing it with the phone while plugged, letting it do its job during the sync process, not touching both the phone AND the watch for some time fixed the problem.
Battery life on 6.0.1 is very, very good. The watch lasts for about 3 days. Always On - ON, Gestures - ON, WiFi - ON... well, everything is on, even location.

exactly the same here, did the 6.0.1 update and battery down to 16% in less than 40 min.
Wiped everything, unpaired, did update again but now via PC companion, resetted everything again and now great battery life. 2x 20 min gps daily for bike ride and still 2 day battery life.

It drop to 10 after power ON the morning. When Power Off for the night it was at 46%
So no software issue (and never was software issue), just a deffective (deteriored) batt. I think there are faulty regulator charge circuit in SW3 and the battery overcharged. Just see how fast an SW3 can be charged, not normal charge process.
In general way, when a lithium batt drain faster after 50(40) % it mean batt is damaged.
I have normal drain from 50% to maybe 40%. Problem is after 40%.
So far I haven't suffered the random battery drain since the update.
