Please confirm: Camera on OxygenOS 3.1.2 - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

The camera seems to be broken, but I can't tell if it's just my device. I'm using the US A3000.
Could someone else with the US version try this with a third party camera? Set the exposure to 30 seconds and see if a picture takes that long.
The stock camera works, by the way. It must be using a special Oneplus API.

Nope, it's not. Works with Camera Zoom FX and ProShot. I just tested it.

Was that the stock ROM?
Maybe I have a bad phone. I tested with both of those.
ProShot shows ISO 100 and a 15 second exposure, but it takes the picture in less than half a second.
Camera Zoom let's me set the ISO, but setting the exposure time freaks out. Starts at 1/30 and as soon as move it I can no longer do 1/30, but can only move it between 1/50000 to 1/30000.

Yes stock. I tried it once more, notice the exposure values in the top when using ProShot. The shutter won't go slower than 1/8. The handset is new, maybe the applications need an update.
Samsungs have thr Camera2 API broken, not the OP3. Taking picture with S7 Edge and enabled C2A leaves fugly halo around the objects and blures them out.
I don't think this phone has something broken, regarding C2A. When you use stock app, camera works ok.

It sounds like the EU A3003 doesn't have this problem, then.
The question is whether all US A3000s do this and if different ROMs fix it.

Nobody is going to confirm or deny this?
It's a pretty serious issue.

Nope, it has it too. I had more time to research this issue and I can confirm it now. When camera runs in auto on Camera2 API, everything is fine. Until you adjust something. Then you can just screw yourself because camera gets broken. Well, Samsungs can't Camera2 API too, but I thought with Oneplus 3 it will be a different story. Sadly, it isn't.

This does not fall on the apps. This falls on Oneplus. I actually emailed one camera developer to see if it could possibly be his app and the guy nicely responded that he'd look, but if it's happening on multiple cameras it's pretty clearly a buggy API implementation. He said he really hopes he won't have to make a hack to work with yet another camera.
The One is still done by hacks. Oneplus never added camera2 and never will. They'll also never release the source even though they'll never release another update.

has anyone tried Manual Camera Compatibility?

Weird Camera Bug

Using the stock camera app whenever I take a a picture without HDR on it turns all green. I have tried clearing the cache/data for the camera app as well as using safe mode and it does not change anything. I sideloaded the stock google camera apk and it works fine with and without HDR. Here is a video of it in action.

Ahh me too! I have been messing with this all day at work... The issue is it is not consistent, and it seems to have gotten worse even the google app messes up now for me.
I had the same issue, enabling the option use RAW in the settings fixes it as a workaround

Just tried enabling RAW and it does not change anything. It seems to only like taking picture when HDR is on and HD is off. As soon as you turn HD on or turn HDR off stuff starts to **** up.

That's weird, guess there's more than one issue with the camera. Mine also used to freeze mid picture and crash the app without the RAW option.

i've got this problem too and it's so weird cause of it's inconsistency ....
even when i'm in whatsapp to take a photo it happens sometime.
I'm on rooted OOS 3.2.0 and my build.prob is edited aswell ... there has to be another workaround, anyone?
I have another problem bro my oneplus 3 camera shoot blurry photos and its focusing fails while vibrating near camera sometimes. I'm on 3.2.1 i got ota update help me bro l.

Camera, very poor focus.

Hi all
What's everyone using for your camera app?
I find the standard camera OK for stills, but the auto focus is awful, I've not managed to take a picture of anybody's face without blur, picture gets deleted straight away.
Quite disappointed, my Nexus 5 could at least take a picture of someone smiling without blurring.
No issues here using the stock camera ...
Have you tried other apps? If yes, are results better?
Some people were reporting hardware related focus issues. Check different apps, if all have problems focusing it's probably hardware's fault. (but it's also pretty easy to fix).

I've tried a cold of apps(snap camera, and a old version of Google camera) snap camera seemed slightly better but kept crashing. How would a hardware fault be easily fixed?

Multiple people reported fixing the problem by stuffing something in the gap beside the sensor (the phone needs to be opened, obviously). There is a video guide, if I remember correctly (sorry, don't have links).

Camera app for OP5 with force enabling selected camera?

Hi
I have ordered OP5 today and expecting delivery on Monday. My cousin has the same mobile and been tinkering with it and observed that the 2x Camera doesn't really work as i expected it to be.
When i selected 2x the view zoomed in but when i close 1x camera display goes blank and when i close the 2x camera nothing happens. This however didn't happen outdoors.
From what i read and understood, the 2x camera gets enabled depending on the environmental conditions.
My nexus 6p just bricked today (bootloops). So ordered OP5. Camera is definitely my highest used application.
So, is there any way or workaround or an App available that can force enable the 1x or 2x cameras as chosen?
I dont think so, the OP5 is just to young for such mods, only 2 weeks after sales started. Ask again in a few month...
The primary work is for custom Roms i think...
tapatalked...
Second lense is used only with good light condition if condition aren't ideal primary lense is used. I think is the same way on iphone but I am not sure.
I read its same with iPhone, but i never know if 1x lens is being used or the 2x lens. I don't want digital zoom, i rather move closer to subject and take a photo if i knew 1x lens is being used.
Thanks for the response though. Once i have my mobile, i will try a few apps and do some tinkering
Would love a modded APK that keept whatever I chooses. Like normally I use HQ, mostly because I'm indoors and that the aHDR function is like so so

+1 to this. Things will definitely happen but I'm not sure if both cameras will be used at the same time for anything more than depth perception for bokeh shots (I think that's what it's used for )
Historically from what I've seen, camera drivers are a ballache to work with (Evo 3D took eons to get right) so I'm hoping the same as yourself but I'd assume not until things have picked up and we have some more talent with a want to mod the camera and it's software bits.
We'll see

You could always know by covering one of the lenses ?. Anyways, covering up the main lens and switching to the 2x zoom won't enable the 2x zoom camera.
I noticed that on RR, on the default snap camera you can use the tele lens, but just as "zoom" ? can't use them both at once...
with snap camera hdr you can choose everything. also recording in 4k with second sensor (1,6x not 2x)

Google Camera Mod - Portrait mode enabled and working!

Original post by Charles_I: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3477980
https://chromloop.com/2017/12/apk-enable-portrait-mode-nexus-5x6p-og-pixel-phone-google-camera-mod/
Camera NX V7.3 is a Google Camera mod, which is modified to unlock most of the exclusive features of Pixel 2 for Nexus 2015 and original Pixel phones. with this updated version, you can get the Portrait mode working with Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel 2016 phones, which was the last Pixel 2’s exclusive feature.
Portrait mode was the most wanted feature for Nexus and Pixel 2016 users. I have considered that Portrait mode is a hardware limiting feature, it requires a special type of image data called PD (Pixel detector?) to enable Portrait mode, but some said Portrait mode can be active with front camera, I began to thinking that this feature should be able to work in software way which we can force to enable it on other phones. Turns out, Google uses PD data to calculate portrait effect on the Back lens while use software method on the Front lens.
We need the camera.experiment2017 library to active the Pixel 2 exclusive functions. thanks to the*Apk changer, the first tool which can deodex the Android 8.1 odex files. I force to enable the PD data model in the camera.experiment2017 library, which is telling camera app to enable Portrait mode. Portrait mode will replace the Lens-blur mode in the menu, it provides the face-retouching feature on both front and back camera, and it needs a human face to do the portrait effect job, it will take two burst photos, one is normal ZSL HDR+ photos, the other is applied the portrait effect. if no human face shows up, you will get one normal photo.
https://chromloop.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Portrait-mode-on-Nexus-5X-with-Camera-NX-mod.png
Camera NX V7.3 is based on Google Camera 5.1.016, why not the latest 5.1.018 version? because they are the same app with different version numbers. I decide to disable the Google photos combination, as it has the black screen issue, though this issue can be solved by totally replace the original Google camera in the system, it needs the same signature and provider name. I also remove the Help and Feedback in settings, and disable the silence feedback service, to make the app launching a little faster.
The new version was tested on my Nexus 5X, should work on Nexus 6P and Pixel 2016 phones too. I will also provide the modified AR Sticker and AR Core app for Nexus 5X/6P, you can use it without change phone model or add files to the system, you can use other AR sticker mod if you like. I was thinking AR Core is still in beta status, bugs like upside down photo on Nexus 5X, too many things need to be fixed in the future, so no need to make it perfect at this moment.

Maybe.. I don't know, but it should work on +7.1. Here working perfect on stock Oreo
Edit: It works only on Oreo
It may convince me to finally make the jump from 7.1.1, does this eliminate the need for phone tilting for background blur now?

[19/3/19] Working Gcam For Pie!

This thread is aimed to be as simple as possible.
I found 2 apks that worked for me. I created this thread because I'm sick of scrolling through the comments on which one works, and which one doesn't. So, here it is.
*NOTES* All Pixel Gcam mods will have autofocus issues. These don't have any quality degradation from my testings.
1. @fu24 Pixel 2 Gcam v.5.2.025-Final - Everything works. But I recommend to use this only for the front camera.
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/GoogleCamera_5.2.025-Final_fu24-17f.apk
2. @cstark27 Pixel 3 Gcam P3v10.1 - This is the best in terms of focus hunting, when taking pics, don't tap to focus. Let the app hunt for focus until it's clear. If it won't focus on the object, just switch between portrait and normal mode. Sometimes the pic comes out a bit soft. I'd recommend you to take multiple pics and select the clearest one. Thanks to @Sonudbm for mentioning this apk. The front camera still doesn't work.
https://f.celsoazevedo.com/file/gcamera/P3v10.1_GoogleCamera_6.1.021.apk
I will update this thread whenever there's a better version(s).
Feel free to leave any comments.

Raw capture gives you vastly more detail than jpeg (or JPG), but with the cost of lower picture quality, it can be fixed by editing the photos. I'd recommend the 1st one, if you don't want all the flashy features. If you night sight mode as well, install the 2nd one along side.

Same here :/
Neither of these updates fix the focus issue with it endlessly refocussing. Does anyone know what the actual issue is with the Mi A1 and Pie? Is a Dev looking into this specifically. This is the only way it'll get fixed. Seems like no one knows it's an issue?
Sorry to say this, but both cameras have focus issues..
Does any one know Whether there is a 9.0 pie custom rom where no focus issue on GCam.
(i won't bother about green tint issue though)
I am still on 8.1 until we get something that works perfectly, do I need to unlock my bootloader and install the Camera 2 API again or that is not necessary?
Sorry to break it to all of you, but I really personally think that this autofocus issue is device dependent. I would recommend you to try random Gcam apks from that site (that's what I did). I think every device would have different apks that works for them.

Haters will say it's wrong!
Hello people!!
There is no GCAM Port of pixel 3 (the one with night mode) that fully works on PIE on MI A1. I have tested every recent version of every developer on the page of Celso Azevedo. In almost every version, all things work, except for portrait mode with front camera (green tint present when HDR enable) This is not what we want, because there is a huge difference between portrait with or without HDR.
The only one version that I find that it is working on portrait with HDR is one for pixel 2 (it hasn´t got night mode) from ARNOVA. The version is: gcam-5.1.018-Pixel2Mod-Arnova8G2-v8.3b1.apk. This is my actual camera now.
I hope some developer could accomplish the same but with pixel 3 gcam mod.
Greetings !!!!
