Has to be an OS thing. 6GB LPDDR4 with UFS 2.0 NAND and SD820 and Adreno 530 should scream. This was going to be the one to bring me back to Android. Guess I'll wait for CyanogenMod to officially support it or for OxygenOS to get its **** together. Sad. Sticking with my 6S+ a while longer.

The only problem here is oxygen os. It killed oneplus 2 and x, now 3. Both devices are full of bugs. Let's see how long before they fix it. Definitely a bad start for oneplus.

I thought it was a case of "not a bug, but a feature" that could be adjusted (at potentially the sacrifice of battery life apparently?).

New one x quad w/tegra and lte, interested?

http://androidcommunity.com/htc-1-7...712/?utm_medium=referral&utm_source=pulsenews
Looks like att is going to get the new one x with the Tegra 3 processor and lte. They mention a possible q3 release date. Just curious how many of you would jump to it even though the s4 is still so new. I myself paid full price for mine yet would be very tempted to buy this outright too. If the only difference is the processor, probably not. Have to also think about going through the whole bootloader locked fiasco again.

I am very happy with my one x and I don't care if the new one x will be full hd, quad core 2.5ghz and 3000mAh battery except there will be choice between pure aosp and sense provided by htc. I'm not gonna change it until a new nexus series phone will released because there is nothing like pure aosp feel and getting updates earlier than other devices.
Only if you're willing to give up medianet for an almost doubled bill just for a little faster internet.
Tegra 3, LTE and 720p display? That will demolish the battery no end.
They surely can't keep the same battery then?
gotta admit the HTC one X is the best phone I've ever owned.
I've had an Iphone 3 and 4. HTC sensation XL and now this beautiful piece of hardware.
Just decide to root and mod it and put Coredroid rom on it.
Don't give me Tegra, I want Snapdragon S4 quadcore with Adreno 320.
Tegra 3 wouldn't hold a candle to that, even at 2 GHz.
Tegra3 is outdated ... S4 Quadcore would be better ....

Yeah. Hopefully they'll release it polished, not in a rush.
Hopefully HTC does a few more visual tweaks and actually optimizes the browser for 4.1, and perhaps an optimization of the ROM for lower RAM usage and higher performance...

For the Tegra 3, there's still a ways to go as they haven't eeked out all possible powersavings from the complicated aSMP system, but for other SoCs power savings will be hard to come by...
firstly we are still running on a GB kernel...once the new kernel source gets released then you shall see the difference in speeds and performance

Question about upcoming A9

Do any xda folks know if the promised December update for HTC One A9
will make an unlocked A9 work in the Verizon network? Would like to buy for intro price
if it will work. Thanks.

Don't quote me on this but may be like the Nexus 5x I read about. If you already have a nano sim card activated on vzw network to toss in you should be fine.
It was officially announced or at least has appeared over most of the Android blog sites that Verizon will support the unlocked A9 with a software patch sometime in December.
Droid Life review of the A9 says that it has "abysmal battery life" but is a contender for the phone of the year.

Oh, PULEASE, let's not resurrect that "who designed what first" discussion here!
I have a test A9. Battery life is not "abysmal." Doze mode is quite impressive. Camera is excellent, including OIS. No, I don't want it to replace my own M9, but it's a solid device (and, as always, better than any iphone).

performance of honor 5c is much better compared to honor 5x, its not snapdragon, just the clock speed, cores and optimisation that matters, kirin is powerful as snapdragon,in some cases even more powerful #mate9.
the only let down is developer support

we only need 4 cores, 8, 10 is wasted as no apps use that many or are optimized to. maybe in a few years

i didnt mention about the number of cores. there are many other things like the platform, architecture, and why should we stick with 4 cores if a kernel can intelligently use 8 cores based on the usage????

i get advancing technology etc, but there is no point in phones having 10 cores in the helio's as they still cant catch up to snapdragon 8xx's overall performance. they are slowly catching up tho and do they really save that much battery life by switching between cores?
But latest kirin is better than the latest SD 821 series(mate 9 vs the Google pixel) check performance review on Xda... battery, performance everything much better than SD 82x series.

The kirin beats it in geekbench scores but SD beats kirin in antutu. The gpu isn't great in the kirin either
For my part I bought this phone about one month and a half ago, I came from a Wiko Wax 4G I bought two years ago at 180€ (approximately the same price as the Honor 5C nowadays) and I'm very happy of this new phone.
The screen is great, without being incredible, the fact it's a 1080p screen is a really good point too. Also, it's maybe the fastest phone for this price range. That being said, I don't know US-specific devices, I leave in french so I only know french devices but for that I've seen that's the best you can find under 200$.

Note 7 snapdragon or s7 edge exynos? Lag issues.

I have a Note 7 I got on contract through Bell. I overall like the phone but find it lags and studders at times... Especially with typing and app changing. The Bell Note 7 is the Snapdragon version. With the recall though Bell will let me exchange it for a S7 Edge if I want, which is the Exynos version. I'm not sure what I should do? Could just a new snapdragon note 7 I can get as the replacement be better or will performance be the same?
The snapdragon note7s are laggy and crap. Get the S7 edge if you want.. It wont lag.
Note 7 Exynox just fine...
Sent from my SM-N930F using XDA-Developers mobile app
I would ssy go with the option best for you.
If your Note is lsgging bad enough for you to come on here and ask the question then go with the S7 Edge.
If the lag only happens sporadically and you can cope with it then keep the Note 7.
Why did Samsung make a snapdragon and exynox version?
Sent from my SM-N930F using Tapatalk
Do you think this occasional lag is something that will be fixed with a software update? I will add I've notified some improvement from switching from Samsung Keyboard to Chroma keyboard.
I've got zero lag or stutter on my Exynos.
Sent from my SM-N930F using Tapatalk
Exynos model here and occasionally I get a complete slowdown and stutter of the device that's goes away on its own after a few minutes which is strange. The one thing I've noticed that helps my device is to continue to keep RAM cleared. I do a close all of recent apps every so often which seems to completely remove any of these sporadic slowdowns.
I do believe this is def an issue that will be fixed by software updates. I believe that it's a ram management issue at least on my device. Android nougat is a huge performance increase in my Nexus 6p so I'm real excited for nougat on this device

Same problem on my snapdragon unit...laggy...slow keyboard response..just not what i expected.
Ditched it and went exynos.....none of the above are now issues.
Not to mention there is traditional root avail, twrp, a kernel and roms out. Just that alone should be enough to get people to dump the crappy locked up snapdragon version.
And I say crappy because its BL locked not because its a crap device because clearly it is not.

I have an exynos model, and performs brilliantly, does not heats beyond normal, no lag, no dead pixels, no light bleeding, no crackling home button, everything fine but you must consider the warranty, a very big deal with this device

I too got mine at Swiftronics, but afterwards I noticed bhphotovideo offers 1 year warranty (and a slightly lower price after tax, shipping, import fees, and then conversion to CAD). Thinking I would have gone with that if I realized the Swiftronics warranty is not clearly advertised on their site.

Very good, i was very happy with my experience with them.

My exynos is lagging sometimes. 99% of the times it's smooth, but every now and then it scrolls choppy.

Is 4GB ram enough?

I'm thinking about finally buying a new phone to replace my old nexus 5x... Pixel 2 XL is definitely on my list, as well as V30.
But I've looked at the speed tests on YouTube from the phonebuff guy and it struck me that all the Android phones with less than 6gb ram struggle greatly with the test in opening all the apps for the second time. For me it's really close to daily usage test and I must say that I notice it more and more switching from different apps. None of the phones with 6gb (oneplus 5, P10, s8+) as well as iPhone 7 / 7 plus had any issues in that manner. On the other hand side I'm not a gamer so not sure whether I will notice that problem at all with a 4Gb phone...
I also don't think that the oreo will bring any improvement (at least it didn't to my 5x).
Not sure what to do now... I'll also wait for the huawei mate 10 and then make a decision...
Any thoughts?
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
I have a Nexus 5X as well and while 2GB isn't enough in my experience it's just barely not enough. I personally am not concerned at all that 4GB isn't going to be enough.
I had a regular xl and it was really smooth on Oreo. I'm not really worried about 4 gb

If 4GB Ram is enough for Galaxy S8+, which it is, I have one! With all TW nonsense,
it'd surely be enough for Pixel 2/XL devices as well!

Agreed. My Galaxy S8 ran buttery smooth with 4GB RAM, even with the obnoxious amount of bloatware Samsung puts on the phone. I used the S8 as my daily driver for 4 months and never had a hiccup/stutter. So the Pixel 2 XL should be perfectly fine with 4GB RAM.
Oddly enough, my 4 day old LG V30 with 4GB RAM stutters/lags all over the place. However, I truly believe this is due to LG's software needing some significant performance optimization, rather than the phone having 4GB RAM.
I can't wait to get my Pixel 2 XL and turn this V30 back into T-Mobile.
I ran every single app on my phone back to back while setting up my 2XL. I have over 100 apps installed. At one point I needed to go back to play something I had left running on the Xfinity streaming app. When I used the app switcher, it was like I never unloaded the program, and I was something like 20-30 apps deep at that point. It loaded exactly where I left it and exactly where I paused it.
Whatever they're doing with the software is great and 4 gigs seems like more than enough.
On every phone I've owned I'm always most interested in performance so this is great to hear.
I know I'm going to be happy with the screen, I know I'm going to love the camera and I've already held the phone in a verizon store, so I know I love the look and feel. The performance seemed terrific in the store but I couldn't really put it through its paces so thanks for the update.

How is it better? I have OP3 with 6GB and don't notice much of a difference with RAM on Nexus 6P already which has 3GB
I guess it just boggles my mind that 4gb can somehow not be "enough" on a phone today when 4gb can most definitely be "enough" when using a full desktop PC.
And yes I get it.....8gb is preferable on desktop PC's now. I understand. But if you ONLY used a desktop PC for the exact same things you use a phone for, 4gb is not an issue. At all.
