OnePlus 3 network chip / modem... - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hi,
Sorry for my English... But it seems that in the OnePlus 3 is not integrated modem normally Snapdragon 820 (X12 Cat 12). For the OnePlus 3 is that Cat 6.
And saw some test network is well below speed of 820 other smartphone ... I'm over that side.
Can your expect an update that improves network quality or not?

read following link..it is from qcom and it said clearly that it is cat 12 modem chip not cat 6 as they are claiming
https://www.qualcomm.com/news/snapdragon/2016/06/16/snapdragon-820-oneplus-3-life-party
so after some software update ...it should get fixed

Good news ! Thank you for your reply !

Anyone have more info on this?
I do not see why they would market the phone as CAT6 if it really is CAT12´.

3g support WCDMA 850/2100
2g support: GSM 900/1800MHz
can you please use mobile uncle tools mtk to confirm the radios, the 3g WCDMA 850 band is very important for me!
thanks in advance

This phone, I just love the specs!
Might be a good replacement for my galaxy s+ which is slowly dying...
I guess it is hard to go wrong with this one?
Question now is - will it be supported by developers?

Dear Flamery,
in the next days i receive my zp980 and a make several test.
and after i tell you exactly!
but look!
i find this for you:
Dual sim Dual standby, but Dual Band
we find Dual sim support 3g network on mtk6589 chip, but not dual 3g stanby, wcdma+gms, or gsm+wcdma, and sim1 come with mini card as iphone 4, zopomobileshop.com will send with free cutter sticker, and we have pay special attention to the internet frenquency 2G: GSM 900/1800MHz
3G: WCDMA 850/2100 MHz, seems that it will not work well in america and south amerian countries sim operator, before you would like to buy one, you have better have a check with your sim card provider, here are some info i found on wiki, hope it help: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_country_code, or

thanks so much Ghost!
yes WCDMA 850/2100 is the frequency I need here in New Zealand! I hope its supported.
Also I think there may be a difference between the Chinese version and the international version of this phone so maybe the OP had the Chinese version!
And I am sure Zopo are releasing the premium version of this phone soon which has 2gb ram and a larger battery (2500mAh I think) But there is a problem on all phones with using 2gb ram and the MTK chip so I think once that issue is resolved, there is going to be a flood of phones all released at the same time: Jiayu S1/G4, neo n003, Nubia Z5, Newman N3, iconean X7, Umi X2...

The chipset didn't support 2Gb RAM so they have had to create a hardware fix:
sorry i cannot post links yet but here is the statement:
"The X2 suffered from a rather important set-back, basically the phone was announced to ship with a quad-core MT6589 CPU and 2GB RAM, despite the chip not offering support for that amount of RAM! UMi aren’t the only ones though Jiayu, iOcean and others have all promised the same and are all working on fixes."
"This weekend we reported that the UMi X2 would be delayed due to an optimisation problem with running 2GB RAM with the quad-core MT6589 processor. After posting the article we were inundated with emails, comments and Facebook messages asking us if the reports are true. Today we managed to get on the phone with our contact at UMi (a manager at the company) to confirm the delay.
Our contact at UMi confirms that the UMi X2 has been delayed, but that they are working to optimise the phone and hope to launch the X2 by April.
I have also asked our contact to confirm a few details regarding international availability, and he promises to get back to me as soon as possible."
"The X2 looks to have been just one step away from heading in to full production, the pesky issue with compatibility between the quad-core Mediatek MT6589 processor and 2GB RAM. The first hint we had that the problem had been fixed was when the No.1 P7 mini Pad got an official launch date, and now it seems UMi have got a fix too."

I LOVE those "subjective" questions
Stability? You mean as in build quality? In my opinion very good.
Battery? Good question! I bet you could drain the battery in a couple hours but it might also last several days, it depends on a million things
Speed? O.k., I guess?!? The stock launcher is a little laggy some times, that's why I always use different launchers. Of course this high screen resolution takes aways a little speed compared to other phones with the same amount of RAM and the MT6589 cpu.
Feel? I really like the feel
Three things that makes this phone better than any other Chinese phone I had so far are:
1) The display! I've never seen anything like that before. Zopo claims it is a LTPS (low temperature poly silicon) TFT display. To be honest, I didn't even know something like that existed Whatever that is, it looks great! Fantastic viewing angles and very nice contrast / colors. It's too bad something like that can't be captured in a video.
2) The sound quality when using GOOD(!!!!!) headsets. Again, I have NO IDEA what's different in this phone but the sound is amazing!
3) The GPS: Super fast fix and I got an accuracy up to 1.7 meters!

Good question?!? The Zp980 isn't exaclty cheap, you can probably get a phone with similar specs but with a lower screen resolution much cheaper. I guess it depends on what's important to you, that's a decission everyone needs to make for themselves.
Edit: One more things: I love the fact that this baby supports OTA firmware updates. That is something you don't see too often on Chinese phones and defintely NEVER on those "Shanzhai" no-name phones

You can either set standards or you can always be asked which sim card should be used. The two sim cards are always labled when you miss a call or if a sms was received. Let me attach some pictures, hope that helps

New Update

Got a new update for my K10-420ds. Just added an emergency button on power off screen a narrower notification panel and just some tweaks and supposedly updates to 5.1.1. I think this might be the final update for this phone. Just wanted to let you know. Does this mean that now the bootloader is unlock able?

Seems like you are late buddy. I already posted about the update long back. I also uploaded the firmware file if you ever need to refresh your phone.
Nougat will be coming for the phone according to some news articles.

I am sorry but what you are trying to say is Snap 410 models of K10 are gonna be updated to Nougat? I've seen the article but upon asking the same to the CC, they just say that they are not allowed the disclose unlike Samsung who just said that my J7 Prime is gonna get a Nougat update and If at all they are gonna release an update for K10's, it would definitely be for the MTK models. I dont know to any extent but is it really possible to directly upgrade from Lollipop to Nougat. Just not so knowledgable in this Upgrade stuff.

Yup this update N would be for MTK variants only. Why? because the LGk10 2017 is MTK variant only. Probably the Nougat which is built-in in 2017 will just ported to MTK 2016 variant like k430dsy

No not true bro. Most of the Qualcomm based phones have higher RAM like K420DS (Indian Variant) has 2 GB RAM and I believe that they will release Nougat for Qualcomm too.
As you know they always release new updates to Korean variants first.
Korean variants are : F670L,S etc. They have Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 same as other Qualcomm models except LG MS428. So I believe strongly it will be released for Qualcomm soon!

Download app "AIDA 64" tap on cpu, and you will have listed cpu socket.
And no you will most likely not get nougat, none of 2016 models will. Specially mediatek versions, because of they are mediatek.

Because you don't launch next generation of phones if you are going to update software on last generation. Especially when is case of mid-range phones. Mid range phones are made to 'be' one year, then new generation comes up with new software and so on.. One more thing, phones that aren't flagships and have mtk chipset - the one that got any software update are rare (you can say that isn't any out there)

But wouldn't you think that that Snapdragon editions would feature at least 7.0? I mean some of the components that make the 2017 K10 "new" aren't involving the software. It's mainly the hardware. A fingerprint sensor, better battery, and expanded ram are what would pull for an upgrade. I agree that the MTK variants are out of the question, but I feel like nougat isn't to far of a stretch for the Snapdragons

Yes, there are new hardware things, but not big deal only fingerprint sensor the rest is just better version so it handles nougat smooth. I don't think that they will give nougat for just a half or ¼ devices (I don't know how many % are snapdragon versions) that's logic you must agree.

I see what you mean, but the percentage that are snapdragon are the major carriers (AT&T, T-Mobile, etc). I just attempt a hopeful opinion on nougat. I mean look how long the Nexus 7 was supported.

You can't compare any nexus or pixel device to any other phone when it's about software especially how long they maintains it.

The first LG K10 2017 variant has MTK SoC and Mali GPU thats why I think they just gonna release it first on MTK 2016 variant. Well good luck for all of us with this rumors I wish Android N had no compatibility issue with some previous games and wish it can have root access also.

First read posts in this thread.
Yes you can have nougat on k10 but only if you buy 2017 K10
Seriously now, since there is next gen of K series there is 0,001% chance of getting nougat, besides that there is K10's with mtk chipset which is know for not getting too much updates.

Actually, I've been following up on the news for the 2017 K10. Its only been released in india as of now, and looking at some other phones which had a similar lifetime (being recreated with the same name), it's possible that companies like at&t may not sell this phone. And if that's the case, then the likelihood of a nougat update (from said companies) is great. Offering a low budget phone like the K10 that has the latest OS is a great way to improve sales. I also don't thinks it's a fair assumption to say that there's a 0.001% chance. At&T just updated the g5 this last week.

(Q-HELP) - Advice needed regarding root & specs for a new LG phone purchase

Hi everyone ,
Looking for a new (2018-19) LG model, either global or EU version, that's currently getting development for custom roms and root with following specs:
1. Dual sim 2. Quad Dac 3. Fm radio 4. C-type usb 5. MIL-STD-810G compliant - IP68 and 6. If possible, also wireless charging.
I'd really appreciate if anyone could shed some light on this quest. Kinda troublesome with all these new models LG has brought out in the market .

The V50 's kinda exceeding my budget. I was thinking of somewhere around 300-350$ or less ofc.
Btw ,if my understanding from my readings here is correct, is that the G7 ThinQ is actually supporting the above mentioned requirements, right?

As I said , the v50 is above my budget, plus it's screen size is a bit too big for my taste and it doesn't have FM radio. So, to repeat my question, does the G7 ThinQ current custom rom development support all specs of the device? For e.x. is the dual SIM spec working, among others ?
Or are there any other LG dual SIM devices fully supported?

Mate 20X 5G EVR-N29 & EVR-AN00 EMUI 10/Android 10 Release & Experience Questions
Hi! I am in the process of getting my new Mate 20x 5G EVR-N29 despite its disadvantages over the 4G version and would like to know if the EMUI 10/Android 10 Update is released or releasing anytime soon.
Also, please share your experience and bugs as well as there does not seem to be any dedicated threads for this device.
Not sure why but hope this will change as I think there should be dedicated sub-forums for this model to help users with device specific guidance, customisations and news.
In particular, I would like to know if display density reset issue remains or whether call recording can be enabled by default on EVR-N29.. Comments on Battery Life, Loudness of Speakers, M-Pen use and 5G performance also welcome.

may i ask why u went for the 5G version? summary of disadvantages:
- smaller battery
- no stereo speakers (earphone is now used as second speaker, thus unequal loudness)
- no 3.5 mm headphone jack
- higher battery consumption at 5G / basically non-existant coverage as of yet
- significantly higher price tag
- sound not as loud / good as the 4G version (headphones)

Have you spent any time browsing the Huawei forums on XDA, in particularly this one for the Mate 20x? They are basically dead "Mate", no pun intended.

Great question! Very accurate list of disadvantages. Thanks. I was one of the first to post about the disadvantages of this model in this forum when the details of its features were first leaked, subsequently officially announced. I was and still very upset with Huawei for what they did to Mate 20 X.
I am getting a very special discount on the price of the 5G model which I could not refuse so I am buying it. I love large phones and currently still using my Zenfone 3 Ultra and very happy with it despite the lack of NFC and 5G but want my next phone to be 5G ready and larger than my current phone as a future investment and to protect its resale value. Until proper folding devices become widespread, I think I could manage with the 5G Mate 20X. Besides, it also has large memory (compared to the European non-5g model EVR-L29) and Google Play Store and GMS is pre-installed so not need to sideload like on the non-5G 256Gb version (China Version).
I will share my experience with it when my phone arrives next week and really hope I could upgrade to Android 10 as hopefully the display density reset issue will be solved so I could make better use of the screen space.
@AWFRONT I am in same boat as you, waiting to get it next week!
same reasons to buy it, I had 20x 4g china almost year...
Phone is very close to 4g, however i like the below advantages.:
5G network is becoming common in Dubai so it is great to have 5G phone
Ram is bigger 8gb
Performance is slightly higher
Storage is 256gb
Didn't realize any difference in battery performance compared to 4G
SPLASH, WATER, AND DUST RESISTANT
SuperCharge (Max 40 W)
Yes you can install call recording in global phone
The only thing i can highlight is:
Sound is not as 4g
We didn't receive EMUI 10 yet even beta
---------- Post added at 10:50 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:42 AM ----------
But if you want a very nice 5G phone i would recommend mate 30 pro 5G uf a big screen is not important to you .
I had a mistake that i bought mate 30 pro 4G recently and i have mate 20 x 5G.

how can performance be higher if hardware is exactly the same in terms of SoC?
8/256 also in chinese 4G
battery performance should be significantly different at 84% battery capacity plus 5G eats more battery than 4G, especially with a separate 5G modem, so more hardware to power.
both 4G and 5G models are rated at IP53, no difference there.
supercharge at 40W is indeed different / higher than 4G and of course its nice to have global version
not criticizing here folks, just keeping the facts straight!
Sent from my Xiaomi Mi Max 2 (Oxygen) using Tapatalk
Yes, like this. Good is 8gb on global sw and faster charging. Bad is smaller battery and worse sound.
Other same.
I hope it will serve me one day whole on 4g, until 5g come to Serbia. Then I will see..
I got it yesterday, played just a little for now.
Of course, all is same.
I noticed that screen is maybe little better calibrated (easily can be just production variations). Less green tint and a fraction stronger saturation on normal mode. Goes a little to red, not perfect...
No option for flicker reduce (as I remember on al00 it was introduced in 9.1 emui?).
Today I will set it usually for me, battery analysis in few days.
Charge is incredible : went from 40 to 95 percent in 10 or 15 minutes!

You know that super charging and fast charging reduces battery longetivity. I personally 5W charge my device and try and use the 80-40% charge regimen.

This is another short coming of EMUI, there is no place in software to turn off " fast charging", unlike Samsung which you can. My current charger , charges at approx 23% per hour / 1023mA. , Device temp doesn't even exceed 24C while charging. Sometimes , I do use a Samsung charger which charges at approx 1800mA.

Question Would OnePlus 9 ROMs work on the 10 pro?

Hardware is very similar, both using the same processor / GPU so may work??
Not sure on the cameras but would be more of a sideways port rather than a fresh ROM.
Hope to see a unified development at some point, not sure how that's going to work with the messy forum structure but I guess we'll see.
No way this will work

Well I have the 8 pro running Evo X, it's brilliant, looks like the last decent OnePlus.. what the hell happened?
How can they not have a macro lens? Makes no sense.
Looking for the silver lining on this phone and having a hard time.
If the DEV’s from custom ROM's don’t support the ONEPLUS devices then this company will DiE in no time FACT
Well I still have my 8 pro, plus can still send the 10 pro back.
Quite annoyed by it, but I did manage to get some of the new buds for free with it. So not a total loss
Hopefully „Nothing Phone“ will came out a device like the initial ONEPLUS on her START
