Android car locked launcher - also no Google play in the apps - possible bypass? pics - Connected Car

Hi all.
I'm trying to "open" / Bypass / unlock my Android car din.
It's Android version 4.4 as you can see on the pics.
I tried to google a lot but didn't find the solution yet...
From what I have played, it seems LAUNCHER3 is the default launcher but
1) I cannot change the default HOME button key to different launcher.
2) I cant send APK through the Bluetooth - don't accept it.
3) Google play is not in the working services. so I can't "enable" it as in other videos I've seen.

Thanks for your help.

[Q] Play Books, and movies missing

Hi, has anyone had the issue where there is no icon for play books or play movies?
i have a stock one x unbranded. You cant uninstall the apps just their updates so i cant remove and re add them. Anyone know of a manual way of adding icons? They work fine if opened from Play. its minor butt annoying.
Thanks
David
It's certainly annoying.
If you long press on a homescreen, and choose to add a shortcut (rather than a Widget or App) then you can select "Books" and create a homescreen shortcut to a specific book.
If you uninstall Google Books, and reinstall it from the Play Store - making sure that "Auto-add widgets to homescreen" is selected in the Play Store Settings, then that will create a working shortcut on your homescreen.
Only way to get a shortcut in the App Drawer is to ditch sense and use a different launcher. Must be a Rosie/Sense Launcher issue, maybe something to do with the fact that the label in the App Drawer has a different name to the label on the homescreens - it's probably getting confused? Wouldn't expect a fix from HTC any time soon. Maybe Google can fix something on their app...?
Try using AnyCut off the Play Store...it allows you to create shortcuts.
This is a temporary limitation in Android that will be fixed in a future software update as soon as Google finalizes the underlying architecture.

(I'm reading Google Now is crashing unless you extract this file and put it in your /system/lib/). There's also a weirder solution posted on the internet: Long press the home screen, select Settings. Select Voice. Select Language to change the default. Change to another language, I choose English – UK. Hit Home. Do a Google Search. Repeat the first three steps. Change back to English – US.
I'd hold off on the OTA to update Search...then again...I don't use it.

My experience...
Copy all files into "/system/app" and set permissions to rw-r-r-.
Android 4.4 Launcher (GoogleHome.apk) (Works great! Butter smooth, nice change in functionality.) Requires Google Now (Velvet.apk) and Google Play Services (PrebuiltGmsCore.apk)
Calendar (v201308021) (Works great!)
Clock (v3.0.0) (Works great!)
Email (v6.0-893803) (I don't use, didn't try.)
Gallery (v1.1.40304) (Works, but force closes when trying to edit a photo.)
Gmail (v4.6.1) (Works great!)
Camera (v2.0.001) (Works great! Limited to 1080p video recording on Snapdragon Note 3's. 4K is not an option.)
Hangouts (v2.0.012) (Works great w/ new SMS messaging capabilities. In that regard, it can replace the stock messaging app. However, MMS's (pic messages to phone numbers) freezes the app, requiring you to clear its cache and data to get it working again. Sending the same picture to a standard Hangout recipient without a phone number, it functions without issues.)
Keep (v2.0.50) (Works great!)
Google Keyboard (v2.0.19003.893803a) (Would not work. Selected it through Android's Input Changer. While the space for the keyboard was reserved (blank white spot), the keyboard itself never displayed.)
Wallpapers (Available in both gallery apps upon copying to device's storage. Redundant, as they were already available to select as wallpapers with the KitKat launcher.)
Initially, Google Search kept crashing, even after trying the languages trick. Using the lib file recommended by @docnok63 worked perfectly. Saying, "Ok Google" from the any of your Homescreens or Google Now activates voice search. All search queries performed were successful and crash free.
(Rename the original to libgoogle_recognizer_jni_l.so.bak before copying.)
libgoogle_recognizer_jni_l.so (Tested, confirmed working! ) Copy the file into "/system/lib" and set permissions to rw-r-r-.
(Rename the original to libvideochat_jni.so.bak before copying.)
libvideochat_jni.so (Fixes video chat issues in the Hangout app. Tested, verified working.) Copy the file into "/system/lib" and set permissions to rw-r-r-. Thanks @NeoMagus
Photosphere_Fix.rar (Google Camera Photosphere FC Fix) Extract winrar archive and copy the files into "/system/lib" and set permissions to rw-r-r-.
Ok, so explain this one...
When using the Kit Kat Home Launcher... You can't change the DPI of your system, or you will constantly have the keyboard popup when you hit the home button and it goes back to the home screen..
Why is this?
For anyone having problems with search force closing. The easiest solution:
- go into your PHONE settings, (app drawer > settings. NOT Google launcher settings)
- go to language & input
- change default language to different language (I chose Spanish)
- click home
- in the Google search bar, PRESS THE MIC and do a search USING YOUR VOICE (do not type)
- after search is complete, go home again, and go into settings again (if you chose to change to Spanish, settings got renamed to Config in your app drawer).
- go to language & input
- change default language back to Englis
- "Ok Google" won't show up in the Google search bar, but saying it still works.

The two additional apps can be found by following the OP's first link. They've always been there.
Google search works great for me when searching, but saying ok Google or Google never works when trying from any home screen. Only works when I have Google now already open.

You guys may have already done this, but not knowing how experienced you are, I'll ask anyway...
Are you using Android 4.4 Launcher (GoogleHome.apk) specifically with Google Now (Velvet.apk) and Google Play Services (PrebuiltGmsCore.apk) to ensure everything functions properly? I also manually copied each file into "/system/app" and set the permissions to rw-r-r-.
Did you copy libgoogle_recognizer_jni_l.so into "/system/lib" and set permissions to rw-r-r-?
Note: The newest Google Play Services or Google Search (Google Now "Velvet.apk") updated from the market under JellyBean did not work properly for me. This is even after I copied the updated files from "/data/app", renamed them to their correct titles, and moved them into "/system/app". I had to use the KitKat specific files from the links provided above.
"Ok Google", only works with "English (US)" language for me. I tried "English (Canada)" as well as "English (UK)", and each time the mic in the search bar was hollow. It's not until I switch back to English (US) that the mic becomes solid. Also, while navigating to "Settings/Voice", I noticed that "Hotword detection" is only available by choosing English (US), which is the main setting that allows the app and device to listen for the phrase.

Nice write up. I got the new keyboard to work with both my N3 and my girl's S4 (although, oddly, there's less emojis on her S4 for some reason). Make sure after you install the .apk that you enable it in Settings\Languages and Input (it will be unchecked by default.) It appears as Google Keyboard - English (US).

It's built for another device with a different version of Android. Don't EXPECT everything to work flawlessly. You can look over this thread for troubleshooting help.

FAQ from the website
I installed the app but the icon doesn't show up in my app tray. What can I do?
If this happens on your phone, the only solution we found was to use Nova Launcher because it has a feature that allows you to run a specific activity within an app. To set this up:
Within Nova Launcher, long-press on the home screen.Choose "Shortcuts"Select "Activities"Find "Google Dialer" in the list, then tap to open it up, and select "Phone" (use the first one in the list)
This will put a shortcut to the dialer on your home screen. At this stage, you can use this to access Google Dialer. It's not the cleanest solution, but it does work.
Can I disable my default dialer?
The short answer is no. As a general rule, you will need to keep your present dialer enabled in order to receive calls. The long answer is that on some phones you might be able to disable your stock dialer, but on others you definitely cannot. Feel free to try it on your own device and let us know what your results are.
(I disabled the first phone apk of the 2 that show up (flashing adds another one and I had it A-Z order))
EDIT: After disabling the APK, when I select "Call" the phone doesn't show any call screen whatsoever, and still has a call going, (mic works, and you can call, but the only way you can hang up is to leave the app and click the extended notification)
Again, this is all them!

How to remove "Say ok google" widget

Is there an option to remove that widget from homescreen?
There must be a solution to this without using a different launcher.
No, if you search on the Mi A1 forum (basically the same device), nobody found a way to remove the search bar from the stock launcher, because it is hard-coded.
The only way is using another launcher (Nova recommended) or modify the stock launcher apk to remove the bar, and replace it.
Maybe this works?
Disable the Google App
Danielle Furry recommends disabling the Google app in settings, which works for a range of Android versions. Here's how it works:
Open Settings, then open Apps
In the All apps list, find Google app, or just Google, tap it and select disable
Reboot your phone and the search bar should be gone!
If you disable the Google app, don't worry about breaking your phone. Apps like Google Play Services are essential for your system (unless you build your OS outside of Google's ecosystem), but your other apps will work fine without the Google app.
Do be warned however, the Google Assistant and voice search depend on the Google app, so disabling the Google app will also negatively affect dependent services such as Google Home, Google Lens, and Google's notifications about weather and transport, for example.

Worked for me. I used Nova Launcher Prima to remap the center button to open the app drawer instead of launching any Googly stuff. This frees up space to put more apps on the bottom row.

PX5 Android9 stock launcher3 - google maps widgets are not working

Hello, i have a question about google maps widgets. I have hal9k android 9 mod on px5 mtcd, with same launcher3 as many stock android 9 devices.
My problem is that all widgets work (TuneIn radio widgets, Gmail widgets, google widgets, etc...), but Google Maps widgets do not work. When i press on ,,car mode" widget or route shortcut widget, nothing is happening. Widget turns google maps on, but it doesn't do anything. Car mode widget opens google maps in normal mode without doing anything, Home widget opens google maps without navigating to home:
However, when I change the launcher to the other one (for example nova launcher), the google maps widgets start working. So this is rather an issue with stock launcher. However i like the stock launcher the most, I do not want to change it. Anyone has an idea how to fix it? Is it a known issue? I have done a factory reset, no difference. May this issue be related to changes done by hal9k mod, but I don't think so. Does it happen on every stock android 9 mtcd device with stock version of launcher3?
Thanks for help,
Tom
