There are tons of music players on the play store. Most of them are good. I personally use power amp which is very good and is a paid app. If you are confused check out music player comparisons on google.
If you have a rooted phone try 'viper4android'. It'll improve the sound quality greatly.

Shuttle plus has all necessary features (more) with material design.
Phonograph has all necessary features with better Material design

Neutron Player, HTC Music Player, PowerAMP Alpha, and Z-Player.

PowerAMP is best.

If basic function is enough for you then I'd suggest VLC for Android.
I like it for 2 reasons 1) is able to play any video/music file I ever had on my phone 2) only app I tested that shows album covers correctly when created /w MP3Tag.
Also asks for hardly any permissions.

what's the best music and video (PAID & FREE) application for our beloved HTC ONE X?
also what type of video can we put on our X? any frame size limit? and the format as well...
I personally am satisfied with MixZing music player(bought their premium version too). But most popular one is PowerAmp and they said It's the best but they got paid version only though they offer free trial for 1 week or so I think.
For videos, I'm using BS player lite, they got hw acceleration feature also.

I love WinAmp. I love the retro feel.
I've been using the unofficial VLC beta, it's been okay for the most part.
ubermusic. skinnable so you can make it look great - way better than poweramp.
Happy with the stock apps
I purchased PowerAMP a while ago Ehen I has the X10 and Arc, but no need for it on the HOX

stock player, free already there and does its job.
there are lot's to choose from maybe i'll try them all, but for the music player, i think it does not support the "BEATS" feature? only with the default player? is that correct?

Beats is available to every 3rd party app.
And no you don't need to convert movies, except if it results in you getting a file with smaller size and you want that to save mbs.
As for music player, poweramp is definitely the best Imo. Although it didn't look that good but it's features kept me to it. Now with the ics skin, which someone posted on xda, it's definitely the coolest music player.
You might also give Apollo player a try. It will continue to improve. Still not in market I think, but should be there shortly. Google it if you can't wait.
For videos, try mx player. That's all on can say. Try and you'll have the answer to your question.

yes... thanks for that, the reason why i'm asking is because, last month i tried a different music player, and while playing i noticed that sound is different and there is no beats option, but anyways, i'll give it another shot, will explore a bit.
with regards to videos. i have .avi movie format.. copied it in my sd card, tried to play it but is says, file not supported... well, guess i just need to keep on trying..
go here to find out how to enable beats on poweramp which i use. also regarding video player i would just use stock..sorry only videos i watch is youtube...i rather use big screen for movies instead oh and netflix only for my phone when i travel

stock music app vs poweramp

Hello. What do you think about the stock music app for our G3 and the poweramp ? I had poweramp full for my S3 and when i moved to G3 i had second thoughts about which app to use.
The stock music app sounds pretty good, but i'm no specialist. What do you think ? Thanks !
i think you can use the stock because is more organized than poweramp! of course poweramp have more options to control audio but is worthless in G3...s, of my experience with both of them...i recomend the stock one!
Me on the other side I prefer poweramp. For many many reasons.
Two key for me:
1) folder browsing
2) sound options
Sent from my LG-D855 using Tapatalk
For me PowerAmp is the best.... Stock player cannot reproduce apple music files.
Poweramp hands down
LG G3 D850
Poweramp is for advanced users and stock app is for people who just want to listen to music!
Stock app with Viper
Stock with Viper 4 Android mod.. Power Amp is still cool though

hi, i just got me a G3 last week, i had S5 and S3 and with both i used poweramp and viper and i had great sound once viper was set. but since i have the G3 (in the last week), i noticed that no matter what i try, i can't run poweramp with viper. only the stock music app works with viper. i dont know why, i tried almost everything i know with viper to make it run with poweramp but no good.
since that i really unsure about which app to use. im a fan of poweramp, and i use it for too long so im used to it. the stock music app by LG is way better than the samsung one, but still lack a lot of feature regarding browsing playlists.....but the good thing is that it sounds pretty good.
so imo poweramp rules....once i make it run with viper.
Stock player is unable to find music that is on microsd card.
It doesn't have any settings.
It can't use .cue files as playlists.
Or song que.
It lacks the ability to find album art on the internet.
Or lyrics.
Et cetera.
Poweramp wins. Perfect win. Fatality.
Poweramp with Viper is the best music experience on android to this day.
I'm happy using Aimp...
Finally i managed to run viper and poweramp on my G3.....well...it rules...the funky thing is Lg is way more complicated for me for now...with all the flashing and rooting then my former samsung S5....but the sound on this G3 is way better ... Now that i can compare between the both when viper and poweramp on

Music app?

What music app are you guys gals using to listen to your downloaded songs?
I'm trying most of the ones on XDA Android apps forums, Pulsar, wave, minmia.
VLC isn't working right, lagging hugely and redrawing incorrectly.
No winamp for Android?

Try Black player. I was big on Shuttle as it's a quality app with material design but Black player just does it all well and has its own style which I like.

Thank you for your suggestion, works very well, and it has the "delete" song from library option, double tap for favorite is nice.
There actually used to be a WinAmp for Android. It was nothing like the Windows app. But anyways, I've used every music player out there and there is only 1 that does everything I want it to. PowerAmp. It's only a couple of dollars for the full version but to me, it's totality worth it.

Before I used spotify and Google music I used PowerAmp as well. I'm pretty sure you can even use the Google music app for local music.

I am using the Sony one (Music was walkman), IMO one of the better, has a nice interface
I have been using Poweramp full version for years. The sound quality is superior when compared to Google Play Music. I have to use Play Music for my subscription but I use Poweramp for my side-loaded and purchased music.
Loaded Poweramp again, the delete function is too embedded.. is there a setting to make it more tap and hold to delete?
And what are the odds this would happen?!
OK has anyone else used pi music player? How can I set Poweramp to play songs as detailed and clear?
Esira with viper4android and dolby all the way !!!!

Can anyone suggest a music player that's used for music on the phone- no cloud wanted

Still using the P2 Xl, but I don't want Google Play Music. I want a player that only plays files I loaded into the phone. I know Google Play music does that but I don't want any "services".
Thanks

Works well for me.
Thanks, I also saw one called Black Player that's been getting good reviews
Pulsar is by far my favourite
Poweramp
For my needs, I use Vanilla Music player. It's basic and a light footprint.
Highly recommend poweramp
Poweramp all the way! - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xsoftstudio.musicplayer.pro
Been using it for years and never disappointed, especially with the new GUI changes they've rolled out.
Close 2nd for me would be : Player Pro - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tbig.playerpro
Another neat one, but kinda cluttered is N7 Player - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.n7mobile.nplayer
Hope you find what works for you. Everyone tends to lean toward the cloud services, I still like loading my own music on my phone as well
I'm a fan of Shuttle. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=another.music.player
Power amp is my Fave , plays flac files also , Highly recommend it :good:
Pulsar is my favorite player
PowerAMP, been using it for years.
Also shuttle. It's free software as well
Look, get Poweramp and enjoy forever. There is no comparison. I've been using it for more than 8 years maybe. Tried other players only a first few years, then I stopped venturing out.
I like using Eleven music player https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/app-lineageoss-music-player-arm64-t3784730

Neutron. The gui might need a material redesign but the app itself is great for sound quality.

I've tried and tested them all as i got over poweramp after many years with it . In the end, poweramp owns.
And its latest beta update is even better than ever!
Musicolet is my second favourite , but in the end poweramp just has everything you need.

Hey everyone, I wonder if you guys could suggest the best music player? Im on pixel experience rom so there is no stock player. I dont like Google music player. Also I used poweramp and it was the best player so far but after purchasing pro version there was problems with scanning songs from device. Also I very liked VLC player but also had problems with scanning songs ant time to time was getting freeze. Now im rocking AIMP3 player and it is soo good but also wondering if there any other good suggestion from your experience?

1.poweramp.( if you update poweramp than your bugs will fix)
2.sony walkman (you can find it outside play store)
3. Winamp (its also better)
4. Power Audio Pro.
Try Poweramp (paid) or Pulsar (free/paid).

I always enjoyed JET AUDIO.
Musixmatch is good for local media. Plex is also cool for streaming personal media, it's stable enough but if it doesn't work it's irritating...
GOM Audio — Simple design, powerful equalizer, lyrics with sync support, customizable lockscreen player.
Stellio — Sleek white design with more themes available, powerful equalizer, lyrics support from search and tag but no sync support, no customizable lockscreen player.

Lockscreen players are useless anyway.
Guess I'm the only user of Neutron in here lol.
It costs about 7 Eur - I bought it back whe Poweramp and Neutron were arguably considered the best - I preferred Neutron over it.
The only music player that recognized and played FLAC songs is Poweramp. I also had problems with it. and with media scanning, specially when the songs are in the SD Card but it fixed with an update.
poweramp is the king both in sound/config. dont mind with nothing else. just buy premium and enjoy lifetime.
I suggest a good free player, it's BlackPlayer. Have lots of Equalizer options, it's lightweight and opens fast. When you use Adaway you not see any ad in the free version.
In my opinon:
1. Gom audio plus, its paid.
2. Eon player pro, its paid too.
That two is the best.

GOM Audio Plus is absolutely amazing. But I wish they'd give it a visual overhaul and add more gestures.
Eon Player looks cool, but isn't as powerful.
Foobar2000 and Rockbox.
