Enabling VOLTE in Vibe P1 (Any ROM, I'll switch to it) - Lenovo Vibe P1 Questions & Answers

Guys, as you are aware that Vibe P1 has VOLTE support in its chip, however, the same has been disabled by Lenovo. I tried *#*#INFO#*#*, and turning on VOLTE provisioned Flag, But it didnt work on stock ROM. Anyone has any idea how to get it working, I have a JIO sim that I want to use. Any Custom/Rooted Rom would do, IF someone can assure me that the FLAG CAN BE TURNED ON. and Enhanced LTE (or VOLTE) appears & can be enabled in settings. (I know another meathod that involved editing an xml file but I'd rather stay away from that option). So .. Help Please.

I have it on by default. Rooted rom, 6.0 Marshamallow S272.

Bro have you got any method to use JIO sim on any other handset? If yes please guide me. I am only able to use this sim on LYF handsets only.

Not Untill Commercial Launch (Happens in a Week's time or So.) PS: The FREE Credits work only on LYF. But Once you get commercial Launch... VOILA.. Any VOLTE handset will do. Untill that time.. No. They Track the IMEI you are using with the sim, IF it belongs to a LYF mobile, only then you can use the FREE package. (Although you may change your IMEI to that of a LYF mobile, that way you may trick the system BUT... that'd be illegal)

I tried by changing the IMEI but still it does not work for me. They are not tracking IMEI.

They are tacking the IMEI (Confirmed that after your comment). I believe there's something in the ROM as well. It has been tweaked I believe. Let's say, it sends a beacon everytime you start your use that it's coming from a LYF handset. Consider the time it takes to register on Network & Such things. Again... that's my belief, but they have the tweak to turn it off as well as I have seen Distributors using OPPO & Lenovo Mobiles on JIO. That means their numbers are not tracked for the beacon or whatever.
PS: Thanks BTW as I was about to give the IMEI thing a shot myself.

[Q] Looking to Purchase a G4 and I Had Some Qeustions

Which variant should I get? I just walked out of the store (Almost bought one) and they are telling me that it's a dual SIM. I honestly like the idea but I have several requirements which my next several questions are about.
Is ROOT, Busybox and a custom recovery available for this device?
In relation to question 2, is Xposed available for this device?
Is a reliable call recorder available? I badly need this since I speak to a lot of clients and recording my conversations with them helps me when I forget something that I discuss with them.
Is there an available kernel that will allow me to tweak the volume of the headset (much like Boeffla for those who have experience in this)?
Looking forward to your answers mates! Thanks!
Edit1 - How do I edit the title? Spelling mistake
1. the one which offers warranty in your country. is warranty available for both variants where you are ?
where i am there is only the dual sim and its a variant on dual sims available elsewhere. dual sim means no wireless charging possible at all. dual sim means only one sim can be used at a time because G4 dual sim is a dual standby not dual active ie it only has one radio and not two. So the other sim goes into standby if you use it all that is.
There is another point, whether you have 4g service in your country or not and whether it can support voice and data at the same time on one sim. Where i am 4g cannot (no VoLTE from the carrier) only 3g can. so if on 3g data, and get a call then i get the call and data stops but if i'm on 4g data then the caller gets a busy signal if using data at the time they called. Conversely if i get the call then i cannot browse the net while on the call (!)
This is where dual sim comes in. they can call the voice number (set up to forward to the other sim) and the data stops otherwise can continue to enjoy data at 4g speed.
In effect this means if you want to use 4g you need a second sim due to lack of VoLTE. otherwise put up with the slower speed of 3G and use just one sim.
2. root can be injected, there is no recovery available as bootloader unlock is not yet available for any variant besides the euro h815.
3. yes but its not completely stable. some modules work others don't. i'd give this some more time.
4. there is one in the stock but otherwise try ACR, it works quite well for me with another device.
5. not yet. this will only happen when botloader unlock becomes more widespread.

1. I'm unsure. I'd have to go back to the store and ask. I beleive(from experience) you cannot use voice and data at the same time on my carrier(s).
2. Read about that a bit, and from my understanding, the dual SIM is the H818, which I haven't found a root for. (This is honestly most likely a dealbreaker for me) But should I be expecting a reliable root and bootloader unlock soon?
3. I think this is applicable for all Xposed for 5.x and above no?
4. That's pretty neat that LG has one in built. I may not need root if this is the case. I'd have to check which applications use root and see if they are absolutely necessary.
5. Sounds good.
Quick question that I forgot to ask about though, I use AirDroid to manage, send and delete SMS from my device as it's a lot easier to do this on a computer screen. When I updated to KK/LP on my device, a whole plethora of problems arose such as not being able to delete/send SMS if an application was not the default SMS app.
In addition, I use Avast Anti Theft which heavily relies on SMS Commands. Is it still the case today?
Sincerely appreciate the well informed response mate

it is not possible due to hardware limitations. volte is a service which runs on IMS backbone. to connect to internet. phone use APN to connect to gateway. now to connect to company's (service provider) gateway ip network APN uses bearer. to provide normal internet services companies uses public IP network. but VOLTE services are completely on private IP Network. which is not exposed publicly. so you need additional bearer to connect to IMS gateway.
unfortunately old LTE chipsets do not support multiple bearers hence it can not be implemented.
I think you just copied an answer from quora instead of doing some research. Yes, zenfone 2's chipset(XMM 7262 modem) does support volte, however the devs at asus probably had a hard time creating the firmware for it. If you want volte as a feature for the phone, you can't do much except to keep annoying them at zentalk to release an update on the situation

i had conversation with asus official team. believe me it is not too hard to add an simple option. its not a new technology which is to be developed yet. it is already developed enough. it will take mere 30 min to add that option. if it was possible they would have added it. i exchanged approximately 30 emails discussing on the issue with asus.
moreover where ever you read. it will me the same. we learn by reading. we never have all of our own. most of time we get it from books or other sources.. things which are general will be same either quora or XDA..

That's a little strange. There's another thread here with several people posting that they each contacted Asus. And were told that the feature is being worked on right now and would be included in a future update.

VoLTE and WiFi calling

Hi
I am trying to enable VoLTE and WiFi calling on my Nexus 5x. My carrier supports these features, and as far as I know, Nexus 5x is capable of supporting them as well. My phone is rooted, and runs Pixel 2 ROM which I found on xda (https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/development/rom-pixelmod-lg-nexus-5x-t3486862). I have Magisk flashed and I just enabled the "VoEnabler" module so that I get the necessary toggles in Settings. They appear, but unfortunately, they do not work. When I check IMS registration in ##4636## (##INFO##) it still says "Not registered". I have learnt that I need to enable a certain "profile" for the Qualcomm radio chip as well, so I downloaded QPST_2.7.460 and managed to see the phone in PDC.exe after installing the correct Qualcomm drivers on my PC, and setting the DIAG PORT to on for the phone by issuing the command 'su; setprop sys.usb.config diag, adb' in a Terminal emulator on the phone. Where I am stuck now, is in PDC, because it only shows me 3 profiles: HW_DEFAULT, SW_DEFAULT and ROW_Generic_3GPP. I read that Vodafone_India, or Telefonica UK, or Telia Finland would be profiles that may work with my carrier and allow my phone to register with IMS, but unfortunately I do not have those in the list. So, my question is, does someone have more experience with this, can I load MBN files for this profiles using the "Load" button in PDC? If so, do files coming from other Nexus 5x, or even other phones work? If anyone has any experience with this, any help would be grately appreciated.
A little update: I tried with some of the mcfg_sw.bin files from the stock ROM, unfortunately, it just cannot activate for Sub0 and switches back to ROW_Generic_3GPP. Furthermore, I downloaded an LG G4 firmware, as that phone uses the same chipset, and tried to see the files extracted from the KDZ file usig 7zip, yet none of the "mcfg_sw.bin" files actually appear in PDC so I cannot "activate" it on the phone. Would really appreciate someone with a bit of experience to guide me on this one.
Thank you very much.
PS. Sorry if this is the wrong section, feel free to move it wherever it belongs to.
Your carrier needs to have enabled these features in their network for your phone model, too.
I've found that support for VoLTE is very spotty among custom ROMs. Some don't seem to pay any attention to it, some say they "support" it but it doesn't seem to work. That may be a per-carrier issue. FWIW I'm on Verizon in the USA and CandyROM is one of the few I've found that "supports" VoLTE, *and* it actually works for me, *and* the ROM is actively maintained. So maybe try that one if you're not too attached to PixelROM. I wish this feature was paid more attention by developers, it really makes a big difference in call quality.
The carrier supports it, of course. Do you have the same phone (5x) and run CandyROM on it? Have you got a link for it? I don't see how ROMs really have to do anything special, since they do not touch the radio partition, which is still the one from stock. You just have to add the toggles to the Settings app by editing build.prop, I guess. But I will take a look anyway, maybe it actually works, although my carrier does not support this actual model, I was hoping I couod change the modem config on it and force it to work with WiFi calling and VoLTE.

Yes, I have a 5X, run this ROM, and VoLTE works.

Maybe I'll try it, although I am pretty sure it won't work by default on my carrier, since it has the same default radio which lacks the proper config for my network. That's what I am trying to get, a proper config that will work with my phone, by switching it with Qualcomm PDC.
For Verizon, the necessary config is already in the radio image, of course, and probably gets picked up automatically when the device signs into the network. For Europe, all I see is EE UK...
In the UK the operator EE does support VoLTE for many phones but not for the N5X, even if you've "provisioned" it in your ROM.

Disable SIM card on LineageOS

Hi,
First of all, and to be clear : I know that this feature has not been implemented or abandonned on recent versions of LineageOS (at least for some phones), but as I'm beginning to do my own builds (on Lenovo Vibe K5+ - A6020A46), I wanted to understand and know what to do/add to make it work, at least on old versions of LineageOS/CyanogenMod (it seems that it worked on CM12.1, but not anymore in CM13/LOS13) ?
I don't really understand why this feature has been abandonned, but I wanted to have some advice to work on unofficial builds containing it. Thanks in advance !
Is there any app which can toggle SiM on and off ? Inserting and ejecting SIM each time is really a hustle which I'd like to avoid.

For phone with 2 SIMcards, it's nice to be able to switch-off one. For example I'm from France, and when i'm travelling in Germany, I want to switch off my french (and expensive abroad) SIMcard.
Another example : on holiday or week-end I want to switch off the professional SIMcard.

Expensive EU roaming is against the law.
Back to the topic....
Almost basic option. Why was sim manager cut from the system?!?!? Who is behind it?
Any alternative solution so as not to wait for developers? Tasker setting does not work in LoS 17.1
Strange news directly from LineageOS:

MIUI certainly supports that. crDroid claimed to support that too. I am also looking for solutions without changing the ROM.
Hi, little update for those interested : I managed to activate the hability by building the ROM along with this https://github.com/LineageOS/android_hardware_lineage_telephony, and following the instructions in the README.
It works starting from LOS 14.1.
It seems that my solution works only for 14.1 to 16.0 but I'm still stuck for LOS 17.1...

First of all, please don't take this as offensive or insulting.
1) Do you have balance on your mobile plan?
2) Are you 100% sure that it's not caused by your provider?
3) Is your SIM card damaged in any way?
I could understand if one phone could and the other couldn't, however, in your case, I'm 99% sure it's not caused by the phone itself, rather by your provider, therefore I cannot recommend that you factory reset your phone.
Hello thank you for reply??
yes my mobile plan has 4g.5g volte, sms and normal call so i should be covered there
And my SIM is working in other phones, my SIM is i the 1 place..
thanks

If you can call people normally using the dialer app (not using WhatsApp, Telegram, etc.) then you should contact the customer support of your provider.
Just getting this out there, I think Xiaomi makes sub-par and super bloated software.
However, calling, messaging, and other core components of mobile phones have never lacked in terms of quality for me.
Check your APN those are probably incorrect
Hello again
My APN is completely correct..
If you're positive your APN is correct then try turning off and on chat features in messenger settings
