Corrupted pictures in gallery - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi. Some of my photos in gallery are corrupted, it's not with all of it but only with few. Problem started when i unlocked bootloader and installed WOLLA rom. Firstly, i cannot connect with mobile data, it won't working, then photos started to crash in gallery. I've tried to do all of possible wipes and instal WOLLA again and it helped for some time. Then after a few weeks of usage my photos are corrupted again. Mobile data and everything work well. When i take photo and check immediately in gallery it seems to be okay. But after a few hours when i come back to gallery some of my photos are seen as corrupted. What can be a problem here? I'm sure it's not an SD card because i've bought a new one few weeks ago Kingston SDHC 32GB UHS-I U3 . My firmware is 6.14.69.4 and WOLLA base firmware is 6.12.401.4, can it cause this problem? Thanks for any help guys

SD can go bad at any time. True that a newer one is less likely to fail, but not impossible.
Try formatting the SD card (of course copy photos you want to keep somewhere else like PC, before you format), and see if that helps (or try a different SD). Maybe the problem is something else, but the SD is a easy place to start troubleshooting (and at least eliminate it as the cause).
I assume you are using the SD card as the location for saving photos on the camera app?

Yep, my photos are saving on sd card now, but this problem was when my photos saving to internal storage too so i think sd card cannot be a problem here :/

I've got the same issue. After installing official Lineage OS 14.1 I started to have corrupted photos in the gallery. I'd say it's a gallery app problem, because when you take a new photo and then go from camera app to gallery app, earlier taken pictures, which in gallery app were corrupted, in the camera app are being shown correctly.
Have you managed to solve the problem @sonderling ?

In my case it was a issue with sd card. After reinstalling my Rom and replacing my sd card with a new one the problem was solved.

JPG's get damaged after flashed

Don't know if it happened to anyone, but it occurred to me a few times. After I flashed a new ROM, the pictures (on SD) I took with previous ROM get damaged, they show 0 byte, won't open with any picture viewer anymore. Doesn't this have anything to do with the camera software version on each ROM? Very strange.
Thanks for any advise.
What size SD card do you use? Try to take out SD card when flashing and see what happens!
I have 8G card. That's a good idea, I'll start doing that next time. Thanks.

I think, you must take a 2gb SD to flash the ROM. It can only read 8GB when the driver for SDHC load in ROM already.
Thanks, but I'm not using the SD to flash, I have some programs/games on the SD and set the SD to be the default picture storage with camera. But I've been trying different ROM's and sometimes I find the pictures on the SD not viewable anymore but were viewing fine with the previous ROM, check the size of those pictures with 0 byte. Pictures taken with the new ROM are fine.

Transfering photos SD->PC problem!

Looks like I have something ****ed up accidentally or maybe not but the problem on HTC Desire with MIUI ROM is; while taking pictures with Camera (default app) or Camera 360 and save pictures - I can see them in Astro Manager and see them in Gallery (it means they are saved and exist on SD card), but the problem appears when I mount my phone to transfer taken pictures from SD card to PC. Those pictures don't even appear in DCIM folder and folder looks empty! Don't know why? Everytime when I reboot Desire and connect via USB and mount - here are the pictures! What's wrong, what's the problem? Why should I necessarily everytime when I want to transfer pictures from mobile to computer reboot the mobile phone?
Thankful, best regards.
I have an app - switchpro - you can setup an widget to "reload media" worth a shot?
I would presume this is a bug in your rom

I've put newest MIUI version - same thing. Probably with SD card is something wrong.
Well scan it for errors...
Put it in a card reader and if it works well its prob not the card

So far, I have tried to take photo - connect mobile phone via USB cable -> nothing appears. Took off SD -> put in adapter -> in card reader - pictures appears! Looks like everything's OK with SD card. Scanned for errors too - zero. Everything works well with SD card!
EDIT: looks I have something ****ed up in SD card options -> tried with another one sd card in mobile phone, and everything works well! now should do everything new and fresh!
yea i'd try starting with repartioning your card....
Backup on pc - partition - move files back....
sd cards are pretty annoying they corrupt quite easily
I just bought a samsung class 10 16 gb and its much better than my previous unbranded one

[Q] Can a bad SD card cause fuzzy photos?

My wife and I have Droid Incredibles. Mine is taking really good pictures and hers is taking really bad pictures. It's not operator error as I use her phone and get the same results. Plus they didn't use to be so bad.
I've tried cleaning the camera lens and I've tried using different camera apps and get the same results.
Her phone does have some SD card issues as the pictures will disappear from the stock gallery app. QuickPic can find them though.
The main difference between her phone and mine is the rom. She's stock and I'm rooted with a custom ROM.
Can a bad SD card cause fuzzy pictures? Or can a new ROM make the camera work dramatically better?

I'd say probably the rom. the issues in the gallery is probably a cache issue with the rom as well
Have you tried using her sd card in your phone to see if that happens to you? If its not writing to the memory properly then the issue would happen on your phone as well with her sd card.
Try copying the contents of the sd card onto a computer then reformat the sd card to FAT32. If it still fails then I'd go ahead with Shano's steps above. I'm not sure it would resolve anything though.

Yeah try swapping the SDs see if that makes a difference. I've never heard of something like that with an SD card, but it is possible theres something on it thats corrupt which cause gallery not to want to show your pictures. A format like SlimSnoop suggested is a little safer than rooting and installing a custom rom, so I would do that too. And make sure to only copy the files back on the sd card that you use, to insure you don't copy something corrupt
Thanks all. I'll try the SD card and see what happens.
Since her rom is official, I'd hate to think it's screwed up. But if all else fails, I'll put CM7 on her phone.

Camera, Screen Shot & Walkman cant access sd card

I have recently installed Xperia Ultimate HD 3.0.2 with Rush kernal V10 and everything was working fine, taking pictures, playing music etc. I have also deleted some software using Titainum to remove the dead weight. And recently i took some pictures but it says cannot save and i cant view thenm in the quick view on the camera software, but it does save them when i looking the gallery. If i try to video something is says 2 mins. at the bottom that suggests it cant recognise the SD card even though it is inserted and is trying to save on the internal memory. Also when i screen catpure is takes it and then says it cant be saved but again when i look in the folder in my gallery it is there. So these apps obviously cant recognise the sd card to save to it, for some reason. the Walkman app when i open it just says no music in the library...suggesting no SD card again! I can browse the SD card in File Manager, so the phone knows the SD card is there, just some of the apps dont realsie it is there, the apps on the sd card are all working fine. im not sure if i am missing someting or maybe i accidently delted somethiing important.
HELP!
Tried to reinstall the SD-card? One time I had a bad contact and the SD-card is not read.

[Q] Camera not saving to SD

Even with the option selected in the 4.2.2 stock firmware, the camera app still saves all images to the internal storage. Anyone else having this issue or know of a fix?
I've just made a test - I've opened camera and under settings/data storage chose sd card. I took picture and it is saved to sd card. I have ZL6503, German ones, 4.2.2, and stock firmware.

Thanks. I guess I'll reflash the update, I'm on 6502, I got sick of trying to tinker and loaded AOKP and Free Xperia, NFC is broken now, so I guess back to stock is the fix anyways.
