Great job, man! @norbarb

I am still with 4.4.4. Do I need upgrade to 5.1.1 first?

noob here, if i install this, can i still get future updates such as security patches? or future versions of marshmallow?

I am still on DOI2...
DOI6 files need to be installed first, right?

I used this procedure to update my Note 5 (insurance claim recently replaced my Note 4) so if you have any questions, I may be able to help. It looks like in order to use this file you'd have to be on firmware ending in 6.
Keep in mind, on the Note 5 there were a couple different updates posted on the server, so this one y'all found may not be the final update.
Also, if you use this via adb, it will wipe everything on the phone.

There needs to be a way to flash back to an official release. I haven't read through the Note 4 threads to see if there is. If there isn't a way to flash back, I wouldn't install this because if this turns out to be not the final OTA, you wouldn't be able to get the latest or future OTAs.

I think you can put this update on SD card and if you adb from SD card will not wipe your phone. On note 5 we did not have this option.

If this is not finale MM version you need to flash back to version you on now. There was no problem flashing back at all on Note 5, so I don't think there will be with Note 4.
For all others I will look for previous updates so you can update up to last official release.

Downgrade from 5.1.1 Lollipop back to 5.0.1 or 4.4.4:
The 5.1.1 “bootloader” is secured, so downgrading from Android 5.1.1 and returning back to Android 5.0.1 and or 4.4.4 is not possible anymore.

I know this. But for some reason I did downgrade on Note 5 from unofficial MM 6.0.1 I update thru ADB back to 5.1.1. Then I took official update thru OTA to 6.0.1 with finale build. BTW Note 5 have secure bootloader too.

3.2.
Folks who previously updated to ''unofficial'' 2.001.01 do not seem to get the OTA upgrade. They have to downgrade to 3.2 stock to be able to get the ''official'' upgrade.
Ok For French User !! Good news !
so how do i downgrade back to 3,2??
I used the 3.21 zip file from here on XDA to update, so how do I go back,so as to get the official OTA update

I'm in the U.S. and no update . Still on 3.2, Acer_A100_1.018.05_COM_GEN2 since I bought it. Do I need to unroot it to receive the OTA update?

How to go from Sideloaded 6.0.1 to OTA 6.0.1?

I can't find a thread on this, but for those of us that updated early, how can we flash to the official OTA? I'm guessing we have to flash backwards and then let the OTA happen naturally? What build do we flash back to? Thanks for the help!
Flash PB2 from this thread using all four files in ODIN
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3331843
OTAs should follow.

Which sideloaded build do you have? If it's BPE6, it's identical to the OTA and there's no need to do anything further. If it's BPE5, then yes use Odin to revert to APE3 in order to get the OTA of BPE6.

I'm on BPE6. I just assumed it was different than the official. If you say it's the same I'll just keep as normal. Better than wiping and restoring.
Is it worth it to go from PBE5 upto PBE6?

It is the same as long as you are on PBE6, all build numbers, dates and times etc. match up exactly with what AT&T has posted as the latest.

No OTA update with unlocked AT&T Note4

Hello Everyone,
I have a unlocked AT&T Note4 which I purchased manufacture refurbished from eBay.
I have been trying to update my Note4 using OTA, but I am still 5.0.1 and N910AUCU2COC5 version.
When I click 'Software updates' button, "Current software is up to date" is displayed.
Is it something because my phone is unlocked?
Please help me to update my phone to marshmallow.
Thank you guys!
J
Well I guess what you can do is update the phone via the marshmallow instructions in the general section of the at&t note 4 forum. Just Odin to DOI2 and use the incremental updates(DOI3,DOI4,etc) to get yourself to official marshmallow.

But what is official MM? I see multiple versions floating around and I don't know what the difference between them are. I'm on DOI7 right now and there's like an EPH5, EPG7, and I think there was one other but I can't seem to find it.

EPH5 should be official. There's a package that updates from DOI7 to EPH5 if I remember correctly.

Outside USA - help updating to Nougat

I need a full Odin package with AT&T's nougat update. I am currently on build number N920AUCU2BPE6 from
Jun, 1 2016 and I would like to upgrade to N920AUCU4EQC6.
I moved out of the USA to Europe last year. I no longer have an AT&T sim card to do an OTA upgrade. Samsung Smartswitch doesn't show any updates available. Sammobile.com doesn't even list the SM-N920A as a device option.
Can anyone help with this?
Edit: As a second thought, has anyone figured out a way to flash the Samsung official international (N920C?) rom onto an N920A...

Awesome! Thank you!
I am not clear if I need to go through several rounds of updates, or should I go directly to the latest package. Will your process wipe data on the phone? If possible I'd prefer to keep existing data. Yes I always make a backup, but not having to restore is always a convenience bonus.
Download links would be great too because I can only find the links at http://www.galaxynote5update.com/galaxy-note5-stock-firmware/ which are hosted by http://rapidgator.net
The problem there is some of the file sizes are too large to download from rapidgator as a free user. If you have a personal file server feel free to PM me the details.
I just called att and they said they couldn't push the update and that I have to go to Best buy.
Only odin file!!!

I think we need to wait until we have the Odin images to flash that way
I'm not sure but from checking other similar threads this zip file would need to be renamed to update.zip or ota.zip and flashed from stock recovery from the s10+ or using command via adb. to push the update.

Yes but it may effect your signal and such because att is like that.

But I think update.zip can only be applied over the version they are made to be updated from.

Yes must be on BSI4. Ive been able to apply update via recovery from external sd card without naming it update.zip
Will be applying tonight after switching back to U firmware.
As you can see in the screenshot Source version is BSI4 and Target version is ZSJ8. You can find this in any ota zip by going to /SEC-INF/buildinfo.xml

Just a heads up for anyone on Verizon looking to try the beta, the update providing goofwear regarding T-Mobile is indeed compatible with Verizon wireless. Flash it either through adb sideload or sd card as mentioned and it'll boot normally. No csc or sim card tricks needed in order for service to work properly. Phone boots up fine and no issues relating service. Thanks guys and thank you goofwear!
I was able to get this going as well. So far no problems. Only been about 20 minutes though.

So im finally unofficially ln the beta. After flashing back to BSI4 U firmware which wouldnt boot(after dirty flashing twice in a row lol) i was able to just use the update zip and it booted no problem. All is good. Like the new animations so far. Will post after using it some more. On SPR without any difference in signal so far.

Can i update to beta via that update zip.I'm currently on G975USQS2ASGK
I flashed my AT&T G975U over to the U1 firmware today since the unlocked version is part of the beta program, but the beta for unlocked devices has been delayed to "a later time".
So I got a question. If I flash back to G975U1 AT&T, and then update to this beta using the update.zip file what's the situation for future OTA updates? Since AT&T is not part of the public beta they wont be pusing updates designed to update this build. So I would have to Odin back to a AT&T release right?

Just try and let us know. It will fail or update. You lose nothing.
