[V510] New OTA Update for July 1, 2016 - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I just received an OTA for a new update. Forgive me, but I left my GPad at home, so I don't know what the update file is.
Just wanted to know if anybody else got it? I don't want to lose root or it to mess up my tablet.
Thanks!

Test

Wow, interesting. I'll just be curious although I have the VK810 variant, but I guess if you get Marshmallow then there'll remain some very little hope of the VK810 and V500 getting it, although I won't hold my breath.

The new VS985 Update

So i have the new update available for verizon and im new to rooting. I just wanted to know if i update this will it get rid of my root? Or what will happen?
I've already started a thread on this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2928808

update question 10b

SO I am pretty new to the lg family coming from galaxy since the first one. but I am curious since I am still on the 10b firmware and don't want to update. if later in time they release something that unlocks the bootloader on 11a can I update using the kdz method even if Verizon releases a newer method than even 11a? sorry if this is confusing.
My suggestion would be to just root and get on the same firmware that everyone else is. You never know if something will come out blocking the ability to kdz but it's up to you

Yeah i thought about it but what if they only find a way to unlock the bootloader on 10b. I screwed myself with the galaxy s4 with taking a system update. So now im extra cautions. But i am debating doing thhe update and if i do should i do the kdz or the ota method by verizon.

I saw someone on the other forum that uploaded the 10b kdz file to have them root that one maybe just wait for that file to be rooted if you don't want to go to 11a. Personally I think they are going to use 11a if they find a bootloader unlock because that is the rooted firmware they put out in the first place.

Yeah i also thought about that because i thought i remember someone saying it auto updated and they posted about not being able to roll back. But ill see if they root 10b within a day or 2 ill go that route if not ill update and do it the 11a route. I already downloaded everything for the 11a root but kinda am kickin my feet

Hold tight, devs just got a 10b system image. We should see 10b rooted in the next day or two. I'm in the same boat, don't want to upgrade yet. I have a feeling we will see a bootloader work around rather than a full unlock.

Sounds good and im completely happy with a work around. My s4 i had to use safestrap. But yeah thanks guys for all the help.

Keep on 10b and if you do update do the manual way, Verizon update could potentially be an even newer one that just released and no one knew about yet, always do manual if possible in my opinion. Either way as everyone else suggested keep on 10b and wait for a root file for it which they said any day now.
Does anyone here kno how to save and also make a stock img from my phone. Im new to this and would like to kno how to proper have a back up and think it would be safe to have to stored when i do my root. Thanks in advance.

Help! Is there a Verizon KDZ for the new VS98612a?

For some reason my phone will not let me take the newest update for the Verizon G4. Does anybody know of another way besides OTA or Verizon Update Assistant that I could update my phone? Can't find the KDZ to try and flash. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You
Mine won't see it either. They may have pulled the update?
Are you rooted?

No not rooted
I would also love to hear of a way to update to Verizon's 12a without OTA. I unrooted my 11a version in order to get 12a to fix touchscreen issues. It seems the 12a OTA is not around, at least verizon doesn't want to give it to me.
Oddly enough after using kdz for 11a my software showed status as "Official". But a few hours later it switched to Modified, even though I'm not rooted. Not sure why.
I don't see it either

Same here, my phone is unrooted, and it is on Verizon Network.
I have tried OTA update, it keep saying i already have the latest update (which is 11A)
I have also tried Verizon Update Assistant Installer (working in windows 7, but not in Windows 10), same thing, when I tried to update, it keep saying I already have the latest update (which is 11A)
do any one know Verizon push OTA by the list? (e.g. some people will get first, and some people will get last) or every one should get OTA at once?
Also, is possible Verizon pull the 12A update due to notification issue?
thanks
It's highly likely that Verizon pulled this update. Nobody has reported receiving it since about 10/10. I'm sure we'll see a new one drop soon that fixes whatever was wrong with 12A.

Thanks for the info.
Hoping Verizon does not take too much time, We will get Marshmallow soon, then 12A is no longer needed.

Hi guys.Your Suggestion is very much appreciated. (Updating to Nougat before anythin)

Hi there Guys. GoodDay. I just wanna ask. I recently bought Nexus 5x. And i see nougat is ready for update. But before that Ive found out on internet that some users that updated from MM to Nougat got stuck on bootloop and seems they cant figured it out i dont know if its model related(h791/h798). Google Employee says hardware. Here 's a qoute of a report. from androidauthority website.
"We’ve been hearing an increasing number of reports from Nexus 5X owners about bootloop issues after upgrading to Android 7.0 Nougat.
Many folks have been claiming that, after installing the Android 7.0 Nougat OTA, their Nexus 5X devices would unexpectedly crash and begin to randomly reboot after a few hours, or even days, of use. Some users say downgrading to Android 6.0 Marshmallow does the trick, while others say reflashing the Android 7.0 Nougat September update fixes the problem. Most people, unfortunately, have yet to find a good fix for the problem.
So if you run into this issue, what should you do?
Orrin, a Google employee, had this to say in the Nexus Help Forums:
We understand that a very small number of users are experiencing a bootloop issue on the Nexus 5X. We are continuing to investigate the situation, but can confirm that this is strictly a hardware related issue. For those of you that are currently experiencing this, please contact your place of purchase for warranty or repair options.
We’re sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your continued patience."
Im afraid that if i update via OTA just like them. chances it might or might not happen to me. and if did, can a tool like Wugfresh' NRT save it? or should i root and manually update to nougat via some toolkit or manually, is it safer? Thank You very much for your suggestions.

Wouldn't you rather it boot loop now then later when it's no longer covered under warranty?
Boot loop is a hardware issue that becomes exposed during the install process. You gain nothing by waiting and the same thing could be triggered every time the device is rebooted.

Did you update? I'm in the exact same situation, afraid to update because I just got my phone from amazon and it's running Marshmallow...same model as yours. H791 I don't know if I even have a warranty for it
I suggest you update because it is possible that you might not have that hardware issue, I bought mine a month back and hadn't read any forums or anywhere online about the bootloop. I updated right when I got the phone to android 7.0 xD and my phone has been fine since.

Yeah, ive managed to successfully update it to nougat including the latest build 7.0.1. i think there is just some certain phone that are affected. just see to it that your bootloader is unlock before you update. just in case, you can still go to your recovery.

Thanks for the reply, it gave me the courage to just do it! So far so good, no issues

Just got lg g7 fit. Q850QM. I need Android 9

I know they haven't released the update for it but I really need to know if I can use lg up, or if I just need to root but I have no idea how to do that either.
