P1c72 .qcn nvram backup - Lenovo Vibe P1 Questions & Answers

Hi friends,
Can someone who owns a P1c72 phone help me out with a baseband qcn backup?
I bricked my baseband a couple months ago and since then i have been using a P1c42 baseband from a friend.
I have phone functionality but it does not work properly since the modems differ a little bit .
I ask of you to help me out with a baseband (nvram) .qcn backup.
You can do the backup using QPST software from Qualcomm.
Tutorial:
You will need a couple of things.
Rooted phone
Minimal ADB and fastboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317790
QPST software. http://forum.xda-developers.com/vibe-p1/development/qpst-flashing-vibeui-3-1-s272-rom-t3386650
1. Connect your phone to the pc and turn usb debugging on
2. Open Minimal ADB and fastboot and enter the following commands:
adb shell (press enter)
su [press enter( phone will ask to grant permission)]
setprop sys.usb.config diag (press enter)
3. Open QFIL and go to tools in the upper bar / qcn backup restore
4. Click backup QCN and you are done
The back up is saved in C:/temp folder as 00000000.qcn
I would appreciate it very much if you can help me with my situation.
Thanks.

Thank you dear sir
Can you tell me what kind of Vibe p1 phone do you have, the P1a42 with 2g of ram and 32g of memory or the P1c72 with 3g of ram and 16g of mem?
I have restored your qcn file but i seem to have the same bands as the P1a42 phone.
I need a P1c72 phone backup because that one has the band i need , band 38 TD 2600 .

It is very ease to do the back-up, and i would recommend to every one to do a backup in case you brick your phone during a bad flash.

I think some step is incorret...
After doing:
adb shell
su
setprop sys.usb.config diag
There´s no connection to the PC and Qfil can´t see phone port

Do you have a rooted phone and have USB debuggers turned on?
After you write su , super user should ask to grant permission to adb shell

Yes, and did asked permission. However I can hear the phone disconnecting from PC, but not reconnection, and QFIL can´t see phone port.

No problem, glad I could help you out.
So first image is P1A42?
To me is more important band 20, due to my country (Portugal).
So I think I might try @Bakepcer qcn file, to see if I get better results.
Thank you

You can always switch back.
Try it and tell me witch is better.

Well I changed to P1a42 baseband, and seems a bit better. But only time will tell.

QFIL did not recognize the phone when I plugged it. (note It is well recognize when I connect it in download mode for flash firmware), so QCN restore button remains not clickable. Root rights is ok for adb shell.
I notice when I plugged the phone to my PC, it was in MTP mode but when I enter "setprop sys.usb.config diag" and click enter, mode changes to charge only...
I probably have to miss anything. Can you help me to see what I did wrong ? Thx Drug_Store

If you are unable to find it you will need to add it in
Go to Option => Customize NV Item List.
Then look for the item on the left and move it to the right.
Click OK now you should be able to find it.
NEVER ADD AN ITEM THAT YOU DO NOT KNOW THE CORRECT VALUE FOR YOU CAN DAMAGE YOUR PHONE IF YOU DO SO!
On the right you will see a set of 9 text boxes this is where your IMEI should be.
Click the Hex Check Box.
The Hex values for your IMEI will consist of no more than 2 characters per a box and must match your IMEI or it will not take the values you enter. The IMEI is also listed in a special order so you must follow this guide to ensure your IMEI is correct. The first box will always be an 8.
Example if your IMEI was: 954091051099226 then the boxes would look like this:
8
9a
45
90
01
15
90
29
62
Click on the button Write NV to write the values to your phone.
Once they have been written reboot your phone and check to see if your IMEI has been restored.
If IMEI is correct and you are stuck on EDGE/2g go to Post #3.
Remember to go back into the Hidden Menu and set your USB Settings back to MTP + ADB once you are done!!!!

Custom App updated current support is for AT&T, T-Mobile, Bell, Telus, and Rogers. I am in need of anyone with a working Sasktel phone in order to get this working for Sasktel.
Updated to version 3.5. Added IMEI Injection Checkbox.
Download - SGS3 Data Restorer App
This custom app will create a QCN file that can be restored to your phone after you inject your IMEI back into your phone and find yourself with data connection issues. This is only used if you had lost your IMEI and did not have a backup created!!
Instructions:
Create a QCN backup of your phone using QPST (see OP for instructions).
On a Windows Vista or higher computer download the app and install it.
Once installed, close the app.
Go to start menu, you will find app under DanX and run it.
(If there are any new updates the app will find it.)
Select your Carrier
If you need your IMEI injected then click the checkbox next to "Inject IMEI"
Upload your QCN backup into the app.
If you clicked the checkbox a window will pop up at this time asking for your IMEI.
**Enter it exactly how you see it on the back of your phone.
Select a save location and create a save name.
Verify that your IMEI is correct.
Click "IMEI Verified" button.
Wait and the QCN should be generated.
Go to the location where you saved the QCN.
Go to QPST and restore file into your phone (see OP for instructions).
Manually reboot your phone.
If you have a slow connection still but you're no longer on 2g reboot again.
If you still a have slow connection after that consider flashing stock again through Odin and then generate another backup using this app.
You can also try flashing a different modem and then generate another backup using this app.
If it still is not working respond to this thread.
I do not guarantee any success and results may vary on how badly you have screwed your phone!
I am not responsible if you screw your phone worst than it already is as QPST is a deadly phone weapon use it at your on risk.
DX
I cannot guarantee release times as I do this on my spare time but I promise I will try to keep this updated as long as I can. Though the coffee may keep me up I do sleep every now and then if you used the app and you liked it please donate it pays for coffee.
Screenshots
Great emergency resource.
Now everyone can start flashing again like it's going outta style.

I'm more interested in the IMEI injection. If someone has already lost their IMEI and can simply inject their original IMEI back into the phone then we're golden (not that you shouldn't have a backup just in case, but it's nice nevertheless).

An "insecure" kernel is one in which adb automatically gets root access. This is required for GeeK's mod to work. If you are on UCALEM, you can flash the one from here. (There are others, too.)
If you're running the LG1 stock kernel, you can install the "adb insecure" app. Run it and click the box to make your kernel insecure, then use GeeK's mod. This is what I did and it worked perfectly.
EDIT: "adb insecure" should work for any kernel, including the Canadian ones.

Just to add to what drothenberger said: in secure mode, when you adb shell into your phone, you have to use 'su' post-login to become root:
Code:
$ adb shell
[email protected]:/ $ su
[email protected]:/ #
This is a pain, because you can't directly do stuff like "adb push foobar.apk /system/app/" without being root first, which is what the insecure mode fixes. Newer versions of CyanogenMod also now have a root settings menu that gives you even finer grained control of this.
It does work for Can carriers, I confirmed that in the other thread. Take a look at my mini guide there: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=29462669

kernel doesn't matter as long as it is stock. The app will make it insecure. Adb is something essential if you are flashing.

Hey this is awesome! I hope it is confirmed working! I have one quick question. When you say that you have to be on a stock rom, do you mean "stock" stock as in, the stock rom the phone came out of the box in, or does it still work on a stock based rom (like a debloated/deodex rom, with mods etc?)

What is this?
This is a utility to easily root your LG G3 (specific models only). It's a fairly foolproof script that includes all the dependencies you'll need for getting your phone rooted easily.
This is the FULL version. This means that it will automatically root, and ask you if you want TWRP installed and a custom boot that doesn't trip the root checker!

Who made this?
This root is a collaboration between myself (IOMonster), jcase, and autoprime.
Special thanks also to beaups for some initial guidance looking at the vulnerable application.

Is my phone compatible?
The new LG G3 models each are slightly different with regards to rooting and unlocking.
To see a matrix of which LG G3 phones are compatible with this root, please see this Google Docs spreadsheet that we've compiled.
When you run this program, your phone will reboot and run a test to see if it's compatible. If the application succeeds, it'll let you know that it's able to permaroot you. If not, it'll fail gracefully and reboot you back to normal Android without having changed anything.
Please note that this version is currently only compatible with the T-Mobile D851 version of the LG G3. For other phones, we suggest you look for the LITE version of PurpleDrake.

But, what if I don't want to run your script to root?
Well then, I'd be a little hurt, but you can still do everything the script does manually.
Download the package, and extract it. Open a terminal in the main folder of the archive and run these commands:
Code:
adb reboot --bnr_recovery
adb push ./assets/start_restore /temp/start_restore
adb push ./assets/permaroot.bin /temp/start_restore
adb reboot
That will perma-root you, however there's no protection from doing something stupid or the phone being incompatible. Please be careful!

FAQ:
Q: I'm running the Windows .bat as administrator and it's closing/not working.
A: There is no need to run the .bat as admin. Just double-click and run.
Q: I get the "Windows cannot find '.\assets\windows\bin\mintty.exe'." error.. watdo?
A: Try just double-clicking on the .bat instead of running as admin.
Also make sure the script is extracted properly first before running.
Q: I [used Flashify and] am stuck in fastboot.. how can I get out?
A: Be cautious using Flashify as it seems it's not working right.. or people are hitting the wrong buttons with it.
HERE are the stock TMO D851 partitions.
Use fastboot to flash recovery(TWRP or stock) and stock boot. This will install TWRP and fix booting into rom.
If on Windows you will need fastboot drivers. Use Google to find fastboot binaries and drivers.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot
The commands to flash TWRP manually instead of using flashify is below.
Place TWRP on the root of your internal /sdcard/ using MTP, downloading it directly to phone or using ADB push.
Code:
adb push name_of_file.img /sdcard/
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/name_of_file.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
Disable OTA:
Open LG Hidden Menu (3845#*851#) --> WLAN Test --> OTA Setting --> OFF
*Replace "851" with your devices model number, 850, 852, 855 etc...
The first D851 update has been released (10M). Bootloader remained unlocked. It would appear future OTAs will be safe to take AS LONG AS YOUR PHONE IS NOT MODIFIED! If you have flashed TWRP or installed xposed or modified /system then you need to restore any changes made or flash stock firmware (tot/kdz) before taking OTA.
If using a non-tmobile g3 I would be hesitant about taking OTA updates. An OTA may update the boot stack to block Bump!
EFS Backup:
Code:
[FONT="Arial Narrow"][B]Backup EFS after jailbreaking your G3. EFS is split into 2 partitions modemst1 and modemst2.
img files will be on root of internal sdcard. Save the .img files somewhere else besides the sdcard... email, cloud, etc..[/B]
DO NOT FLASH OTHER PEOPLES EFS OR FLASH YOUR OWN BACKUPS ONTO ANOTHER PHONE.
THIS WILL BREAK EFS ON THE PHONE YOU ARE FLASHING TO. EFS BACKUPS ARE FOR THE PHONE THEY CAME FROM ONLY.
I have made a new thread on EFS backup and restore which can be found [URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/efs-lg-g3-efs-backup-restore-t2907329"]HERE[/URL].

install the drivers.
put phone into Download Mode (power off. unplug USB. pull battery. put battery back in. press/hold Volume Up then plug in USB cable.)
In Windows Device Manager set the phones serial COM port to #41. (*see picture guide for help)
Install [URL="http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G3/Setup_LGFlashTool_1.8.6.527.zip"][B]LG Flash[/B][/URL]. In "C:\LG\LG Flash" folder delete megalock dll. Replace with .dll below.
new megalock dll - [url]http://bit.ly/1cQADXm[/url] (this site includes a "download manager.. UNCHECK THE BOX before downloading dll file.)
Run LG Flash in the "C:\LG\LG Flash" folder. Select korean factory if asked.
When LG Flash opens you will see a box to select firmware and dll.
Select [URL="http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G3/LGUP_8974.dll"][B]LG Flash .dll[/B][/URL]
Select (.tot)
Hit OK (*see picture guide for help)
Hit yellow start button. If you get Milkyway error click ok. LG Flash will then run a crc check on the tot file. Takes a bit.
After crc check finishes unplug the phone. plug phone back in. it should now be seen in LG Flash and start flashing.
Phone will reboot when finished. You may end up on a screen with s "2"... let it sit there for a minute or two.
If stuck on "2" try unplugging the usb cable from the phone.. wait 10 seconds.. then plug the usb cable back in. now wait 30 seconds and hopefully it changes to a "3"
Once the phone says "3" you can unplug the USB.. remove the battery and plug back in.. boot back up... you are now 100% stock.

Hoax? What?
This pack is ONLY for the T-Mobile G3 which has an unlocked bootloader out of the box.
D855 support is NOT included in here. There will be a separate thread when we have an unlock for the bootloaders of the rest of the G3 family.

There is no boot loader unlock..where ever you read this is misinformed...the T-Mobile variant ships boot loader unlocked, it is the only one so far to be shipping unlocked.

I'm aware of that and sry it wasn't meant offensive or to put this one down, autoprime, did imply at the bounty thread, that you as well managed to unlock the bootloader, at least at the beginning, that's what I'm referring to, sry that i said it the wrong way, was a bit disappointed, which for sure isn't your fault or the one of this tool, it's still great progress you made.

Success!
1. THANK YOU!
2. It didn't work the first time around, temproot worked but permaroot did not. Maybe it had to do with the fact that I was reading this forum while it was waiting for my input... I can't see how that would have made a difference but whatever. [[ Edit: It worked the second time running, I just followed the instructions immediately - no problems. /Edit ]]
3. Just a reminder for Linux users ... you have to add udev rules as described here: http://developer.android.com/tools/device.html ... and when you are done with that, also run:
$ sudo service udev restart; sudo killall -9 adb
4. My G3 would only connect to my laptop (Ubuntu 14.04) when it was in PTP mode. MTP or Charge Only did _NOT_ work... Only PTP.
5. THANK YOU AGAIN! You devs rock!

Same as the guy above didn't work the first time but worked perfect the second! OSX here.

[TUT] [ROOT] Backup restore IMEI manually

Automatic Backup Restore IMEI TOOL by Sector1369 is HERE .
(Only Require Custom recovery)
Automatic backup restore CMD script added by "deadlyindian" at Post#5
(Require PC ,ADB drivers & Root permissions )
If you still want to do this manually, look below
IMEI backup of redmi 1s
Require ROOT permissions
We all known that EFS partition holds the imei,sn ,wifi mac & other important data.
In Snapdragon the EFS partition are modemst1 ,modemst2 & FSG partitions. so it's important to take backup of these partitions.
1.connect your phone to PC , adb debugging enabled & goto adb shell by,
Code:
adb shell su
OR
Open terminal emulator app in your phone & take super user permissions, by
Code:
su
2.type following commands to backup imei partitions.
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p16 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p16_modemst1
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p17 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p17_modemst2
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p20 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p20_fsg
also these are some important partition you should consider to backup.
modem, fsc, bk1, ddr.
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p23 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p23_modem
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p9 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p9_DDR
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p12 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p12_bk1
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18 of=/sdcard/mmcblk0p18_fsc
Now the backup is stored in you internal storage ,store these files in safe place.
in case u get invalid imei or unknown, restore these partitions.
To restore these partitions,
Code:
dd if=/sdcard/mmcblk0p16_modemst1 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p16
dd if=/sdcard/mmcblk0p17_modemst2 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p17
dd if=/sdcard/mmcblk0p20_fsg of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p20
dd if=/sdcard/mmcblk0p23_modem of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p23
dd if=/sdcard/mmcblk0p9_DDR of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p9
dd if=/sdcard/mmcblk0p12_bk1 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p12
dd if=/sdcard/mmcblk0p18_fsc of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
Working on Aroma EFS backup restore tool..
NOTE:-
Don't use tools or commands from other device because different devices has different partition address, that will result in wrong backups.
To use this method to backup other phones EFS , u should find your partition info.
Redmi 1s Partition tables can be found HERE
ENJOY,
Thanks man...it would be alot helpful if i gone to any trouble [emoji7]

None of the usual ROM / kernel flashing result in loss of these partitions .
If someone is able to screw up partitions, chances are that he will remove the partition table too ..
and with that he will not be able to fastboot anymore , to use backups made here.
Don't get me wrong, but its of little use imo.

I mean backing up DRM keys and TA partitions made sense since they are wiped in some bootloader unlocking..
You almost make it sound like, I can restore someone else's IMEI too :silly: ..
I still have my old nokia phones with me of which I can rob their identities ?
Some random Redmi dev can give surprise to actually make an app for this..
Chinese phones have already been a pain in a$$ for Indian Govt due to lack / duplicate of this IMEI modules.

@deadlyindian,
Thanks for providing the automated script to back up imie.
I did go through your post and did as per the instructions mentioned step by step. However, I am unable to proceed after getting the message "Please connect usb cable now" after running R1SBAR. I do have root access(checked from root checker app) and have also enabled USB Debugging. I also inserted cable after getting the message.
Does it take a lot of time(more than 5 mins) to backup imei cause I continued till 5 mins before closing the cmd prompt.
Hope you can help me here.
PS: I am using MIUI v45 global version "JHCCNBH45.0 (V5) " in case if you need.

Steps to recover IMEI using qcn

How does one change the IMEI?
I've tried this without success:
1. Root your device
2. Download and install QSPT and UltraEdit (HxD would also do).
3. Download an IMEI converter.
4. Get hold of a working qcn (I used my own which I know works in my other P2). Open the file by using Ultraedit/HxD and try to locate the IMEI. In my case it often starts with "08 8A...".
5. Use the IMEI converter and input your true IMEI. Memorize the output.
6. Return to the qcn file. Write it over with the IMEI output you got in step 5.
7. Save the file.
8. In a terminal enter:
su
setprop sys.usb.config rndis,diag,adb
9. Restore the qcn file from step 7 by using QSPT. You click on QPST configuration and go to "ports". If your port isn't already visible go to the device manager, look up the Qualcomm Diag port and add it. For me I believe it's COM9. Now you click on "start clients", then "software download". Tick the "Allow phone/file ESN mismatch", locate your saved qcn file and start restoring it.
10. All done. Reboot!
Apparently some XDA members managed to get their signal back once the modem was deleted so I guess somebody should know.
Other methods I've tried include flashing stock MM and installing OTA until you're on S251 as well as restoring an older full TWRP backup from when your signal used to work. Needless to say, they didn't work.
This procedure worked for me. Lenovo K6 Power with Qualcomm proc.
Successfully I found other users qcn file and wrote my IMEI in it.
Signal is back but diag port disappeared and I can't turn it on again.
WhatsApp me or call me 8436243173
WHERE CAN I GET THIS QNCN ? I'm confused
I had same problem, here are my steps with qcn backup file from working P2. My IMEIs stays right. Sorry for my english and here is my link and read next threads from that forum.

It’s like Cinderella turning into a pumpkin after midnight. Our devices went from being phones to paperweights overnight.
Someone get our fairy god mothers up in here to bipity bopity this crap back into a working state
Out of curiosity may I ask how did it get to this state? Also I was able to get myself out thru a combination of reflashing boot.img (i was on 4.12), unlocking and relocking bootloader, and factory resetting via recovery mode. Not in that order and each multiple times. Somehow it worked out. Possibly worth a try if you are just waiting anyways with not too much to lose?
I found that a locked bootloader is good at telling whether you didn't quite flash an img right. It kept telling me that things are corrupt and whatnot, and all of a sudden it booted.
So I'm pretty close to getting a working TWRP for this device. I have extracted a basic TWRP.img file and merged it with the boot image for the Red Magic 6. When I flashed it, the logo shows up but nothing happens.
When I have time this weekend, I'll mess around with it some more.
That way we can unbrick it with twrp and not have to worry about waiting for an unbrick tool.

Note if you are rooted before going to EDL mode (9008) you should backup EFS via QFIL QCOM tool as a few people lost their IMEIs - I think it's in EFS Explorer the tool is free just Google it. Then do an EFS backup and save where you can't lose it. Here's a guide just ignore the Lenovo part, but you must go into diag mode Qualcomm 901D which is (try dial code *#7678# first it worked on the Red Magic 5 series, probably puts you in diag mode still) otherwise: adb shell; su; setprop sys.usb.config diag, adb before QFIL will see it: https://forums.easy-firmware.com/showthread.php/29143-How-To-Restore-Backup-QCN-EFS-on-Qualcomm-devices-(Giuide)
You can also back up the partition if you are rooted via adb shell. From memory, enable dev options (click build # under system until it shows up), patch your boot.img with Magisk Manager (should be in the ROM zip file you downloaded, copy to phone), flash back to the phone with fastboot (it will be in Downloads/magisk_patched_xyz.img "xyz" changes names just depends on Magisk) command is just after reboot to fastboot: fastboot flash boot magisk_patched_xyz.img; reboot and you should be rooted. Then from ADB do an ADB shell (it will ask to trust the device connected) adb shell (on PC), su (will ask for root access, grant it), $ dd if=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/persist of=/sdcard/persist.img and copy that to your PC. That's your persist partition in case it gets messed up you should be able to: $dd if=/sdcard/persist.img of=/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/persist that assumes you copied persist.img back to your /sdcard/ in internal memory.
If I messed up a step feel free to correct it, this is all from memory no PC in front of me on vacation...

Guys the unbrick tool is already in this forum: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/unbrick-tool-edl-flash-switch-from-cn-to-eu.4284797/
Note if you are rooted before going to EDL mode (9008) you should backup EFS via QFIL QCOM tool as a few people lost their IMEIs - I think it's in EFS Explorer the tool is free just Google it.
