How to recover a bricked Lenovo VIBE K5 Plus A6020a46? - Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
I request your urgent help. Yesterday I tried to install a Marshmallow custom ROM (pac_A6020_MM.Alpha.1.Official_20160704-204606) in my Lenovo VIBE K5 Plus A6020a46. Now it seems bricked. I can boot into fastboot mode but not into the recovery mode. When I turn on, it it is just stuck on Lenovo Logo screen. I cannot flash with QFIL as the port is not detected on my Windows 10 Laptop. What should I do? Please help.

Download stock ROM and twrp recovery and flash twrp recovery in fastboot mode. Then flash stock ROM using twrp recovery. That's it.

Thank you for your reply. But now device is not shown in adb command line "adb device". So I cant continue. Neither QFIL recognize the device port.
Please check the screenshot : http_//imgur_com/nMu7sfe

I've faced the same problem that you have said mobile didn't detect by the PC, that's USB driver problem, make sure you installed USB drivers for your device, if not then install USB drivers for your device, then only PC can detect your device. Then flash the twrp and flash the stock ROM via twrp.

try using QLIP and press the volume + button

Thank you all dear friends for your timely help. But in my case none of the methods above worked completely. I couldn't flash my Vibe K5 Plus with QFIL because it never detected the port. When I tried restarting the phone holding Volume + key, port just showed up and when I clicked on download button in QFIL, the phone restarted, the port disappeared and nothing happened. So, that method also failed.
Now I just showed the problem at Lenovo Service center. They made it, but installed a very old version (A6020a46_S024) of OS from which I could not update to the latest one (A6020a46_S048_160701_ROW). It showed some ota error after downloading almost 156MB. Luckily I could find the latest ROM (A6020a46_S048_160701_ROW) from the Russian Lenovo Forum. It helped me to update my Lenovo Vibebe K5 Plus_A6020a46 to the latest version. Once again thank you all. :good:

Please write the method how to updated it if you used QFIL. I think a lot of users can get help from your experience!
For drivers, install QDLoader HS-USB Driver drivers (google them)
and if you still can not detect any HS USB port in device manager but see an ADB Interface port. upgrade drivers of ADB port with QDLoader HS-USB Driver you downloaded earlier
This will detect your phone,
Good Luck!

QFIL was not useful for me. When I started the phone holding Volume+ button it detected the port and when clicked on the download button in QFIL the phone restarted after 3-5 seconds with blank screen, after a few seconds showed an error message "Download Fail, Port not Available". Then I had remove the battery to start my phone in the mormal mode. As I have said above, I had to approach Lenovo Service center to recover my Lenovo VIBE K5 Plus_A6020a46. They recovered it and installed the oldest OS version for it. It had many problems with that version, such as draining battery very soon and heating issues etc. I could not update it with Lenovo companion app. It downloaded the 156MB update, but during installation it showed a weird OTA error. I tried it for 5 times, but the result was always the same.
So I searched for the latest update ROM in the internet (A6020a46_S048_16070 1_ROW) I got it from an Russian Lenovo Community website. I extrated the zip file (A6020a46_S048_16070 1_ROW_QPST.zip). There were many ota update files and a "system" update file. I copied that "system.zip" file to the phones SD card and updated from there using recovery mode. It was successful.

You're suposed to hold volume + AND volume - at the same time (just as the power button) for 5 seconds, then your phone is going to be with led and black screen.

With the phone turned off and disconected from your computer, you press and hold the following buttons: volume + and - and power, for five seconds, then your phone should be black and with a red led. Now you connect to your computer and check if QFIL recognizes the port (this is the hardest part, to install and make QFIL work on windows), then it's just like the guide

Is there any possibility to recover a dead phone? It is the same model (Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus A6020a46). It shows only red led when connected to a power source. Can't turn the power on, none of the key combinations works, no boot screen, no images nothing. It is totally dead except for the red LED.

I don't know man, but I would try to download the QFIL image for the a6020l46 and give it a try, but, before you try it, let it charge for about 3 hours, then take off the battery and pot it on again and try to enter the mode for QFIL (volume + and - and power button pressed and hold for 5 seconds).

Same problem here
I have a bricked lenovo vibe k 5 (A6020I37) in qfil says sahara fail, and the pc recognizes my phone as Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008. From here I dont know what to do, I already tried with lenovo smart assistance but stops at 3%.
I hope you can help me to, and thank you all for your the help u can bring me.

bricked mi max(?)

hello everybody.
i got a 3/64gb mi max and tried to flash twrp and the miui 8 eu version.
For some reason the phone bricked (flashing the MI logo and then nothing).
i managed to get it on edl mode, i downloaded the official chinese and eu roms but no matter which one i try to flash i get this message and it doesnt go on after that.
any suggestions ?
the phone goes into EDL mode, and also goes into fastboot mode when i keep the vol - and power button. It's working but i can't flash the official rom cause of this message and when i try to flash TWRP, the screen flashes the MI logo and then nothing.
Same problem I had when flashing the latest EU ROM using TWRP with a locked bootloader. Here's what I did to fix it:
1. Make sure you have the latest Qualcomm USB drivers installed
2. Start up Miflash, make sure the right fastboot package is selected
3. Connect your phone to the PC. Hold down Power, Vol- and Vol+ together until you get a short vibration.
4. Check Windows Device Manager. Under Ports, you should see a Qualcomm 9008 QDLoader device. If you see a 9000 port or whatever, disconnect the phone, reconnect it and hold down all three buttons again.
5. Press Refresh in Miflash, you should see a COM10 device. Flashing should be successful.

May i know what windows version you're using it..?, coz old version of MiFlash tool doesn't support running under 32bit system.
Maybe you can try using latest version of MiFlash tool..
You can download it from here..
If official link above doesn't work..just download from here..
Hope it's help..
You must also mark option "Flash all" in MiFlesh.
There is a solution. I have tried everything but mistake was to obvious to posiible really. I was using wrong ROM version to flash it. Had "can not read from port ..." or "can not received hello packet data".
Firts of all download miflash beta. Then check your processor type because this is what define your rom. I thought that my Mi Max 64GB is a hydrogen ROM. Wasted because of that about 30 hours of my precious life Then I realised that my ROM is helium. I downloaded helium_global_images_V8.1.9.0.MBDMIDI_20170103
Flashed it for a first time.

Hello Baha Striker!
How did you get the flash in this ROM? What tool did you use? I'm trying to use QFIL because it was the only one that recognized my device. But I'm having trouble locating .XML to do the flash and finally fix my device.
My device does not turn on, it only recognizes in windows task manager like qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008. Thanks a lot for the help.

Hey mate, I had the same issue before I know it seems that it's the only way that your phone get recognized with but in matter of fact if you keep trying to boot on fastboot it'll boot there eventually.. so keep trying the keys combination till it works and a reminder fastboot on this device is when it stays on Asus logo screen so when you get there just flash recovery and install your ROM like normal

Hello Baha,
I tried today all day to make this device go into fastboot mode but I did not succeed. I try the combinations Power + vol up, Power + vol down, only power and all the buttons.
Could you kindly explain me better how you got into your device's fastboot mode? Was it connected to the charger or pc or was it disconnected?
Thank you
Fastboot mode :
1) Turn off the ASUS ZENFONE 3 DELUXE ZS570KL
2) Press and hold Volume Up button (do not release and continue to No.3)
3) Press and hold Power button (No.2 still continue press and hold), so now we hold Volume Up Button + Power Button together
4) Wait until vibrate appear at ASUS ZENFONE 3 DELUXE ZS570KL, then release Power button (do not release Volume Up button)
5) If we see Logo appear at LCD screen, then release Volume Up button (release all button now)

Any way to unbrick without modifying the wire?

i am sorry but i have searched a lot but i couldn't unbrick my ZUK Z2, i flashed the Deodexed stock ROM and then the screen went all black with the LED glowing. If i press the power button i just see the ZUK logo and the screen goes black, i tried to boot it into fastboot but no luck. I somehow managed to get into the 9008 mode but while flashing with QFIL i get the sahara error saying unable to read header or something and with MiFlash i am getting "cannot read hello packet"
Any Help will be appreciated
EDIT:
The device has been fixed, i had to press the download button on the QFIL as soon as my phone boots into EDL mode.
did you flash through twrp? and if your bootloader if unlocked then you should have 5 sec bootloader placeholder from where u can reboot recovery . and if you are stuck into something different then it will be difficult to recover but possible. for sahara fail , play with settings in qfil like emmc, reset ,etc and try.And you can remove the port from device manager and retry if u r getting 9008 port. You should not get sahara fail. You will be get out of this easily just try things suggested. Your device is live as zuk logo is showing so dont worry.
And use latest qfil: http://www.androidbrick.com/download/download-latest-qualcomm-flasher-qfil-qpst-2-7-460/#
EDIT: Try this too-
Bootloader mode: shutdown state, press and hold the volume plus key + volume minus key, while the usb line connected to the computer until the release button.
Qualcomm QPST (9008 port) : shutdown state, press and hold the volume plus key, press the power button at the same time usb cable to connect the computer. This mode is a black screen state.
For recovery: press and hold the power key + the volume plus key + the volume down key until you release the release button.
Just buy DFC cable a.k.a Deep Flash Cable. The cable is same as you wire cable manualy

Have you both any idea about adb! Edl is itself 9008 mode also called download mode. Adb is debug bridge and it is used in OS to control it by this bridge from PC.

If bootloader is locked or unlocked , 9008 mode will work for sure. Also Use buttons combination to enter fastboot if u can then unlock and flash recovery from there .
To avoid this problem again, when you flash stock roms after using Custom Roms, make sure you format the System, data and cache partitions back to EXT4 format, since Stock firmware (even the moded ones) DOES NOT support any other System/Data/ Cache format.
After loading the bootloader, the phone will end with black screen and white led on. You just need to reboot on recovery again and advance format System/ Data/ Cache back to EXT4, connect the phone to the PC again, transfer the ROM file to the internal storage and make the Flash again...
Hope this help you

Vibe P1A42 stuck at Lenovo logo bootloop

Hello Guys,
My Lenovo P1A42 is stuck in Lenovo logo bootloop.
I tried to flash the stock rom "P1a42_S288_160721_ROW_RAW_QFIL" with QFIL.
So with QFIL, I see the Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 (COM3).
I select "P1a42_S288_160721_ROW_RAW_QFIL\prog_emmc_firehose_8936.mbn" for programmer path.
I select build "P1a42_S288_160721_ROW_RAW_QFIL"
I also select rawprogram0.xml and patch0.xml.
It takes about 10 minutes to download and in the end "Download succeed. Finish download" message appears.
After this step, I press power+vol up+vol down together for around 12 secs to let the phone start with the downloaded new rom but again the phone goes to lenovo logo bootloop.
I have been continuosly searching for the solution but I still could not find it.
Probably I am missing a very small detail.
Can somebody please help me with this problem?
Thanks in advance.
Regards.
After a lot of trials I could solve the problem, but I dont know what I did different.
I did everything the same.
Anyway thanks to everybody who read.

Dear pavanpilot94,
Thank you for your message.
I had already made the procedure following the instructions in the link you sent to me. In the end of the download "Download succeed. Finish download" message appeared, but it did not restart automatically.
That is why as mentioned in the instructions you sent; ("If "ready" message appears and device does not go to reboot, then hold Volume UP + Power buttons for ~12 sec.")), I had to make the key combination.
But everytime the device went to reboot the old Android in the device, so flashing was not successful.
I do not know where the problem was. After many trials, I could flash successfully, but everytime I had to do the same things. I did not make anything different.
Anyway the problem is solved now, but next time flashing, I do not know how to avoid this problem.
Thank you very much.

I now understand very clearly hagiwatt,
I'm happy that Device is back!!! :good::good::highfive:
On a Guess from the above understood there might be corrupt emmc locations, For this to be verified we might have to format the entire emmc. I'm too stuck with Logo Screen now, Unfortunately my Device is not getting detected by the Computer(Qcomm QDLoader) to have it flashed.
Trying to Fix it, I did a entire Format & Verified any Bad sectors as suggested by one of the developer, Unfortunately still not able to get the device detected.

I struggled for it since I wanted to send the device to warranity for vibration problem. I am happy that I could flash with the raw rom. I also wanted to reset the binary counter but no way.
Triangle Away does not support Lenovo.
I hope they are not checking the binary counter in the service center.
Does anyone have an experience about it?
Thanks.

Hi Everybody!
I have just recieved the phone from service center. They fixed the vibration problem under warranity.
So binary counter did not affect the warranity status.
I dont know if they checked the counter or not.
For information to anyone who has the same issue.
Regards.

Please follow Getting Ready and Flashing ROM from the link https://forum.xda-developers.com/vibe-p1/development/qpst-flashing-vibeui-3-1-s272-rom-t3386650 . Once Success, The system/Phone reboots itself, You need not hold any combination of keys to reboot
Primarily make sure Your PC?Laptop detects QComm Driver when you Hold Vol Up+USB. If the device is detected and Driver not installed, You can install the same from the above link.
Verify the above using Device manager.

Z2 plus dead completely

It was working fine till the failed OTA update.
After a failed OTA update the phone is dead completely.
Unable to boot, or to recovery or to bootloader etc
Attempted QFIL and even that is not working.
A tiny white light is on but nothing else.
Did anyone recover the phone from this problem?
Or is the phone gone forever?
try to disconnect the battery, then plug again and try qfil
Hi, Can you try pressing Power button for long till the phone vibrates
Keep the Power button pressed down for a good 30-40 seconds or until u feel a little vibration.

QFIL recognises the phone as Qualcom HS-USB Diagnostics 900E (Com3).
Is this correct?
I downloaded this Lenovo_ZUK_Z2_Plus_Indian_Firmware_V2.5.104_ST_by_Annabathina file?
In Qfil, i chose flat build and then only the above folder is shown and its shows two files with .elf extension as below.
prog_emmc_firehose_8996_ddr & prog_emmc_firehose_8996_lite
Which one should i use? Howlong the process goes? I tried both and i don't see any changes even after 15 minutes?
Is there a guide available?
Any links if possible?
Thanks
Plenty of guides if you Google it. Your phone is NOT dead and can be recovered but you'll lose your data after a qfil. Zuk z2 is pretty much impossible to brick
This is simple to solve, make a deepflash cable to enter in edl mode.
