Why did you make this guide?
Since i started modding my s4 value edition i had a lot of problems for finding files for correct recovery and the guide for installing roms. So i decided to make one guide which answers to all i9515 users on xda.
How to root this device?
You need CF-Root by Chainfire and the correct tar file for getting root accessing. Click here to download.
You are going to download a .zip file. Extract it and put all the files in a single folder. Launch Odin as administrator ( right click -> run as administrator ) then connect your s4 i9515 in download mode. Verify Odin have seen it and then click "PDA" button. Select this file " CF-Auto-Root-jfvelte-jfveltexx-gti9515.tar " and click start. DON'T TOUCH DEVICE DURING ROOT PROCESSION.
How to install a custom recovery?
You can find TWRP for your i9515 here. Just do the same passages for root and you will have the lastest TWRP version.
Custom roms?
TW BASED - GUIDE
All roms for the i9505 can be installed on your i9515.
1. Download the rom file ( .zip ) and flash it via recovery ( Remember to do advanced wipes and the factory reset )( If there is an Aroma setup follow it and at the end untick reboot now, so you can go back into the TWRP )
2. Now IMMEDIATELY flash the kernel patch. It is different for every rom: Lollipop roms need the kernel patch for 5.x.x and KitKat roms need the kernel patch for 4.x.x. Thread for kernel patch here.
3. Reboot!
Remember there isn't any official firmware 6.0 or 5.1.1 for our s4 gti9515 so all lollipop/marshmallow roms are based on samsung stock 5.0.1. ( But why in info it shows 5.x.x or 6.x.x ? It's just a build.prop modification. )

Did you do a clean flash?
If no, i suggest you do it. ( Wipe everything but NO sd card )
Or maybe you can try to update your modem with Odin. Just flash the two files in the zip.

UPDATE: i have seen many Thor Roma aren't working with jfvelte. Personally i have tried 1.2 and 1.5 and both worked.

Sir , I flashed Thor s7 v1.5 & kernal only on my device i9515 as you told me ,but WiFi still not working .
You will tell me that you should update your modem , I already flashed the 2 files on zip by Odin , but WiFi still not working .....

Let me know. I suggest to you RR, no bugs and more stable than Thor. Version 5.7.0 is working great with jfvelte, in 5.7.3 i found some bugs and roms become really slow.

On stock do you have some sim problem? What about of other rom? Maybe try a full wipe. Wipe everything except memory card.

RR is CM based. Same features of CM but you have a lot of personalization. And i found battery better with RR than CM. Give it a try.

1. Make sure your device is unlocked or have s-off
2. Download ROM and Kernel Flasher, put ROM on internal sdcard
3.Put device in bootloader mode (Power + Volume Down)
4. Flash Kernel via Kernel Flasher
5. Enter Recovery and do wipe first
6. Find in Recovery "Choose zip from sdcard" choose appropriate zip file
7. Proceed steps that Aroma installer gives

1. Is this a ported ROM?
No, it’s a real ROM for the HOX.
2. Must I Wipe?
Full Wipe is obligatory.
3. Which hboot version is required?
This ROM works with every 1.3x version and also on 1.72
4. Did i need to flash a new boot.img?
Yes. Otherwise phone will not boot. Use Kernel flasher or extract boot.img from zip file and use fastboot.
5. Did i need to flash boot.img separately when i have S-Off?
Yes you have the script inside ROM doesn't support flashing boot.img during installation. This is because s-off is really rare for this device
6. Does this ROM have APM?
Not by default, but Sasory made this update. See MODs post. There you will find all mods available for this ROM.
7. Touch is not working in recovery! (but I can use volume buttons)
This because of the touch panel drivers.
Use TWRP 2.5.0.0 or 2.6.0.0
8. When flashing at 8.33% the installer crashes and the phone reboots.
You probably use Philz recovery. Go to Philz settings. There there you will find an option to Erase All Data/Prepare for flashing ROM (not sure of the exact syntax) -> Thanks stathis95194
9. Is it right that the first boot after flashing the ROM takes a long time?
That’s right. First boot can takes up to 10 minutes.
10. Does this ROM have root?
Yes, Superuser by @Koush is present in ROM.
11. Where are the developer option?
Tap few times on Build Version and Dev options should appear.
12. Do custom kernels work?
Not yet.You have to wait for the developers to make new ones.
13. Can someone confirm that WIFI is not working or working?
For 98,9% of the people WiFi works, some people experience problems (that WiFi is disconnecting). Don't know a reason
14. How about Zoe?
Device can run Zoe images, but can't record them...
15. How to enable BlinkFeed?
Go to settings, Personalize, Home screen style and choose BlinkFeed
16. Can I customize EQS in the notifications?

It’s not in the battery but you can enable percentage in Settings > Power > Show battery level.

It's enabled by default.
20. How can we remove the in app menu button (3 dots)?
Go to Settings > Screen and Gestures > Buttons.
21. I only have 7 apps on my device but I ticked all in Aroma Installer!
By default, Aroma installer will install all apps. Ticking an app in Aroma installer DISABLES the app from installing, so you won't have the apps you ticked. Re-flash the ROM to get the other apps.
22. There is no Task Manager in Sense 5?
This is removed HTC.
23. The ROM doesn't flash. It stays at 0.0%. What should I do?
A user reported this problem when selected German Keyboard when flashing. Maybe you have the same issue. Try without it if this is the case. It might work. (Shutdown your phone, re-flash the boot.img, re-wipe everything (NOT SD-CARD!) and re-flash the ROM. That should fix it.)
24. I want Super User from ChainFire
Flash this zip by recovery. Reboot to Sense. Start this version, there will be a message that there are other Superuser applications and i fit must try to deinstall that ones. Choose Yes
25. I have no root access, what am I doing wrong?
For those with root problems, check if Superuser is not disabled. It is disabled in some cases.
26. Does this rom work with all CID's?
Yes, however, hboot 1.3x or higher is required.
27. Which Recovery should I use with 3.18 Base or higher?
Try PhilzTouch Recovery
28. How can we get into recovery or bootloader without APM?
Hold the power button down till bottom keys starts to flash and phone turns off. Once phone is turned off press vol- first then press power do not let go vol- till you get into hboot.
29. How to keep the screen on while charging?
HTC removed such feature.
30. Why if I long press the home button desktop menu doesn't appear?
It was removed by HTC already since Sense 4.
31. Why don't I see HTC Backup in the Backup & Reset settings menu?
In the backup menu, tap on your google account, that lets you change it to HTC
32. If I come from 20.0 to 21.0 via OTA on the phone do I have to flash the new boot.img?
YES, It is recommended to flash the new boot.img
33. Why OTA doesn't work on CWM recovery?
You have to install it manually out Download folder. This CWM fault that it can't install zip automatically.

You will get OTA, but new boot.img required.

If you are running hboot 1.3x all should be fine. ROM was tested on 1.36 and 1.39 hboots. Also 1.72 is fine

You don't need to flash boot.img from 13.0.0 ROM. You need flash boot.img from 20.0.0

Yes you're right. Flash the ROM and the boot.img is included in it.
No need to flash it separately with fastboot when you have S-OFF

Guys i need some help here, i got some experience flashing roms and all, but i dont know if im missing something here, what happens is that i follow al the steps to install the rom, but when i boot into system i either get infinite boot or boot into a system without status and navigation bar, can some one shed a light cause im really loking foward to use this room, ive also tried your validus 7 rom and with similar results the diferrence is that when it boots it goes to a black system, without icons status and navigation bar! thanks for your attention!

Guys i need some help here, i got some experience flashing roms and all, but i dont know if im missing something here, what happens is that i follow al the steps to install the rom, but when i boot into system i either get infinite boot or boot into a system without status and navigation bar, can some one shed a light cause im really loking foward to use this room, ive also tried your validus 7 rom and with similar results the diferrence is that when it boots it goes to a black system, without icons status and navigation bar! thanks for your attention!

yes u do that only once
take cm or pac or whatever boot.img from KK, fastboot flah it, boot into recovery and make FULL wipes then flash rom and gapps.
the story of no status bar etc is happening when u dirty flash roms, make clean sh*t please to avoid such issues.
I did all the wipes man, wiped data and cache, dalvik, and even tried formating /system. Can't imagine what else can I wipe. I did flash the boot.IMG when i tried your validus ROM and got no luck with it. Gonna try it with this ROM and give you a feedback on the results

LP roms takes much longer to start as its switching to ART...are u leaving it long enough to boot? it could take like 15/20 minutes sometimes

i did all that you asked, and it booted in 15 minutes, the thing is, i still got no status and navigation bar. :/ dont know what to do anymore.

Now i also got random reboots all the time as well!
I noticed that everytime i install the rom i see this:
sricpt succeeded: result was [0.200000]

yes it is! i have decided to test some other lollipop roms such as PA5 LP from SuperHanss, and the result was the same, no status and no navbar, and in this rom i get the same error as your validus 7 LP that the system ui has stopped. im using CWM 6.0.5.1, making all the wipes and still got same result on every lollipop rom, ive tried CM11, PA4, PAC-ROM, all 4.4.4, but cant seem to get android 5.0 woking the right way, cant see what i am missing here...

i really don't get it, if i was u, i'd start everything from scratch with a clean base, u flash latest sony .ftf, u fasboot flash boot.img from KK cm11 or whatever, u make full wipes, then u flash rom, and use it the way its flashed. NO gapps, NO restore of nothing...to see what happens

use latest one...in order to get best baseband, then don't forget about the wipes in flashtool...tick all 3 boxes

Man, i am almost giving up on this Sh**, i did all that you said and the result is the same.
I installed .292 ftf from sony using flashtool with all 3 boxes ticked.
if i flash flash any boot.img from kk im not able to enter recovery or system at all. So i go and install xzl dual recovery, then flash the boot.img, them make the wipes and install the rom, but the result is always the same, no statusbar, no navbar.
cant see what is wrong here... im gettin tired of it, like i said i think im gonna give up and trow this fuc*** phone out the window...
got any tips?

Sorry, it's because I used to have a very high volume in my old rom. Seems that just I feel that it's very low, but would like to know if you, or if not, how can I improve the volume level.

no, stuck at monster logo, and the phone has bricked, i guess.. doesnt charge as well after installation..

Next time you will remember to full charge your device before flash new roms
it was on full charge..after couple of bootloops, the phone hasnt come to charge mode also.. completely dead and doesnt show on sptools too...
got the phone revived with jellybean... will check with the new roms and revert..

Whoops, my bad & i thought CandyRoms solved the Gapps issue, moving this to here for the moment...

Just realize that my 4TB HDD is running out of space bcos of all these ROMs building ! So i'm releasing all previous built instead of one per week... And i don't intend to maintain 50 over individual ROM threads so all future releases will be here until XDA 2GB limit is up & then i will recycle & used back all previous ROM threads & fill it up, just like this one so stay tune...
This might be a dumb question. I returned my OP2 in fear of way to many hardware type issues and back to looking at the Honor 5X. Are most of these ROMS working on the KIW-L24 US variant. I see so much in this forum listed under the KIW-L21 instead. I love the implementation of how EMUI looks ios like but with many stock features. Performance is what I'm after though

with the exception of modoca, all custom ROMs work on the Kiw24 as far as I know and I've tried them all (i think).

This is awesome news actually aside from a official 6.0 release. Xposed is my next need. Can it be done now. I know CM13 doesn't implement the fingerprint scanner but the functionality is amazing from emui from what I see.

Yes, Xposed can be used now and I've used it in all the ROMs I've tried.

I also made my own Deodexed Stock rom. . . and GPS is also not working, it's a firmware issue with deodexing maybe, when i used odexed it worked fine.

Agreed my perfect version of TW would be dark, all bloatware removed and odexed.
I've moved away from MM and back to LL but i do miss the darkness lol.
I don't know how hard it would be to create such a ROM, I'm a user, a tinkerer and definitely not a ROM developer ?
A question if i may...
What about "build.prop"? Has it been modified?
I'd need original build.prop file to be able install and run specific apps, which won't work on custom ROMS.

If you're interested, I've made a stock odexed, rooted, debloat (562Mb) with custom kernel and S7 UI.
For the full dark ui I don't know how to make it for now, I develop these rom alone so don't be in a hurry

What about "build.prop"? Has it been modified?
I'd need original build.prop file to be able install and run specific apps, which won't work on custom ROMS.

I have a slow internet connection so I upload the rom now, it will be ready tomorrow.
