Multitasking is great and fast! I juggle my games (Magic Rush and Pokemon Go) with no restarting at all. Double tapping the recents button is a sweet feat to quickly switch between apps without going to the recents page.

It sometimes lags abit especially when just starting ot when you wake the phone after long standby (half to one hour etc). Other than that it usually is ok, though noticeably slower compared to the pixel and op3

I LOVE the RAM management on this phone. I opened google maps and used navigation around 10:00, listened to music, went and watched a 3 hour movie, then put about 10 more apps in memory. (Gmail, Ebay, Play Store, Textra, BlackPlayerEx, BlackPlayer, tugaBrowser, ebay, swype, and xda labs) I looked in my recents to go between apps at 19:00 and was SHOCKED that when I pressed on maps and it resumed EXACTLY where I left it. I went through all the other apps and not a single one redrew itself. I was blown away! I am truly impressed by the ram management coming from Samsung crapwiz.

Speed on XT1663 , its okay nut not so great on 2018, but if you need social media and youtube or watching movie this device speed is OKAY,
I'm not a heavy user by any means, but this phone's performance is a disaster.
It manages to lag when playing very simplistic 2d puzzle games (think stuff with as little animations as 2048) and slows down horribly in youtube, when using the interface. The video viewing part itself isn't that bad, but any UI will kill the phone.
And don't even get me started on the recent apps view, just opening it seems to require so much CPU and RAM that it'd kill all the apps that are open.

I do not notice when multitasking any slow down difference..
Sometimes I do clear the opened app windows and close all the apps..
But it does not make it faster..it is fast as is and will perform with no lag
no mather how much apps you open..
So, multitasking a 5 star
EDIT
oh, yes the ram
It does not go more then half of the ram
But you need to know I never game on my phones.
So this 4gb..or it is about 3,6GB it never goes for me more then 49% of usage..
It is even below that..

App launch speed

its fast.
its really fast better than 5x.
Lightning quick.
Fair speeds.
Moderately fast not ultra fast. FB and Asphalt 8 takes time to launch but otger inbuilt and regular apps like WhatsApp, dialer, Instagram etc are quick to launch. Speed was OK on MM and better on custom Android 7 based ROMs like arsenik and elite.

I have 4GB RAM variant & I must say, RAM management is actually quite good. Apps launch quickly, frequently used apps don't get unloaded from memory unnecessarily, unlike MIUI. I've rooted my phone & got rid of useless stuff including that awful default launcher (this piece of crap was eating up a ton of memory) & now the device is performing even better.
I'm not a heavy user, I don't play heavy games either. So multitasking is not a problem for me.
MIUI might have better battery life, but it has an annoying habit of killing background apps.
