I like the camera software and the gallery has some nice editing features. The gallery is a little slow to load though if you have a lot of pictures on your external SD card, but some of that could be due to a slower rated SD card too?

Yeah..I agree of m with everything you said .
have about 300 photos on my sd card.. And when I scroll through them, the pictures themselves take a second to load and I experience some minor skipping in scrolling. I have a sandisk extreme I believe.. 64GB.
I like miflavor, close to stock with some nice tweaks. Like the fact we're on marshmallow, but we have nougat styled quick notification panel toggles.

100% only 5 stars apply here
Fastest Android phone I've used to date.
very fast android, slightly ahead of my other device, Xiaomi Mi5.
Good.
On 7.0 its a bit faster than on 6.0
In comparison to other e.g. One Plus it looks like a bit slower. But overall it is pretty good.
Everything is instant.
S7 8.0 oreo
On the last software update, everything is smooth. The apps open up very fast, for such an old phone. I've made a side-by-side comparison with iphone x (app-opening speed test) and the results were suprising. In many cases, the S7 opened the apps faster (netflix, facebook, gmail, whatsap, etc).

Lots of laggy UI elements and animations. Wont notice too much but is a valid concern for the future and longevity of the device, especially considering the price of the phone.

I simply turn animations to 0.5 ... been doing this on my phones for years not just on the Note 7. It cuts the chance some animation will stutter. I don't find the Note 7 stutters anymore than the S7's I've messed with but maybe. IDK. I do know that lots fancy animations at 1.0 or higher don't really add much so why not reduce them?

I have Exynos and it doesn't have lag at all. Try turn the animations off.

App launch speed is good. Better than I thought it would be. Slight lag on bigger apps. But haven't used it for games yet.

Agree. Large apps like games may take a bit longer than expected, but everyday normal apps for me (Facebook, Instagram, Clash Royale, etc) all open without notice, or my saying "Come on already!".

Time to take picture (camera launch speed)

There! Something just happened! Did you take a picture of it? Rate this thread to express how fast the Samsung Galaxy S10+ can go from "zero to picture". A higher rating indicates that launching the camera app and taking a photo is extremely fast such that you never miss an important moment, like when your cat attacks the couch again.

To be honest, for me is SLOW.
It is not slow opening Camera app, but it is slow processing taken photo. With my previous Galaxy S7 I could take several photos in few seconds (not maintaining button...that is not what i am looking for). With S10, It takes more time to process previous photo and take new one

I would suggest turning off scene optimizer from the camera settings. That helped with the wait in between shots for me

I did that but no way.
My sister has taken some photos with my s10 right now and she has just told me that it's very slow comparing with her s7....
Pretty slow... Especially if you open the camera and try to take several pictures right away. Or else if you open it and try changing cameras to snap a few pics. Cycling through camera modes is also painful.

Make sure your photos are going to internal memory vs external as that's faster.

Yes, you are right, saving to internal storage is faster then to external, but it should not be so. In my old s7 I have for saving photos external storage (ordinary san disk 64 GB). And s7 is faster in this case as s10+. I was and still Iam surprise, because s7 is 3 years old device. Shame...
I also notice (before note 10 camera update, at this time I dont have s7 anymore) that some pictures was better taken with s7. For me is camera on s10 disappointing. I expected more.

I love my S20U no matter what they said.
The only things that still bother me to this day are the price, the focusing issue in low-light (with the telephoto sensor and with the main camera, shooting closely to the object), the lack of 90 hz option, the palm rejection feature, and the dull colour options.
I love my S20 Plus 5G. Coming from S8 Plus, s20 is a logical "evolution". Pretty similar but better in many small things.
Coming from a S9+ I feel that the S20 Ultra is not worth the asking price.
The camera might be better on paper but picture quality (panoramas in particular) and perception of performance (Chrome tends to hang for a few seconds every now and then) are a downgrade.
The big screen is nice and having an optical zoom is a decent add-on as well, but these aren't features unique to this phone.
When taking into account that this is the very high end offering of Samsung, I am left to wonder whether I should have skipped this year's phones.
Camera software needs sorting to sharpen pictures but otherwise a great phone
Had the phone for about a month and I absolutely love everything about my S20 ultra except for focus on the main lens.
The phone camera is horrible. My 7 year old phone takes better pictures. I have not seen an update that improves the quality. Unfortunately, it degrades the phone to the level of a 10 year old phone or possibly the level of the first phone that came out with a camera, however many years ago was that. I bought it for the memory and additional application processing capacity but little did I know it does not come with a camera, the one installed is worthless.
What about the S20 Plus? I read Ultra was the one to have focus issues.
It absolutely does and it is useless as a camera.

Focus issues were with the ultra; my s20+ has perfect focus and takes great pics.
Before the A12 OneUI 4 update, I actually hated this phone because of the barrage of issues I had with it on A11, especially battery life and camera performance. Now with A12, I like this phone more than I did when I initially bought it. I like watching movies on my phone, and A12 added a new feature where you can watch AV1 encoded videos, which is really nice! Overall, this phone is great besides battery life if you're a heavy user.
