Facebook and FB Messenger dark versions? - OnePlus 3 Questions & Answers

Hey guys, I've been working on extending my battery life as much as I can so I use a browser (TUGA Browser) with a dark mode, which does noticably improve battery life.
Obviously TUGA isn't available in the appstore, is there any legit facebook versions anyone has made that are safe to use?
Thank you. I'm new to this so excuse all the questions

Seems to be quite old. Why don't you look around the store for an unofficial version? You'll save battery on top of the AMOLED effect!

I use swipe pro and I'm very happy with it. Has alot of workaround for facebook chat support (without using messenger app), AMOLED mode etc.

I can answer that for him, yes. The Facebook app slows down any phone by a small percentage, and wakes it up a stupid amount of time and uses a lot of battery as a result. This app won't.

Facebook App is not as bad as it used to be. ...but also the fact that the original Facebook App is 100x bigger in size is not entouraging. I don't really use Facebook alot, but swipe basically doesnt show up in the battery Menu whereas Facebook does.

I can't get along with it, it's slow and clunky shame really. I wasn't getting message notifications either with it turned on. I'll just stick to normal I guess and hope some genius comes out with AMOLED versions of the actual apps/some sort of overlay for it.

TUGA browser has amoled, could try usiing facebook through there I guess, but still, i won't get notifications so it's sorta pointless, although I could keep messenger and just use tuga for FB I guess?!

That swipe app is really bad at loading films and its not possible to search the normal way.

I'm doing okay with CM rom and standard Facebook and Messenger atm. Battery life is 7+ hours SoT atm, pretty good.
I havve battery monitor widget too and when usiing FB/messenger/tuga - I get roughly 10-12% battery drain per hour which is pretty good to be fair.

Well the more you use your phone, the longer your SoT will be, if you leave it on idle a lot or only use it for short bursts, eg 15 seconds to check something your SOT will be less, like yesterday i watchedd some youtube, didd ALOT of browsing, listened to music wiith screen on / stop watch (gym) and music + stopwatch together with screen on uses only 9% battery an hour so that adds like 2 hours for 18% battery on your screen on time.
Where as today i'm looking at around 5 hours as ive used 20% in a hour, just from checking/unlocking every now and again to reply to a msg, browse something really fast etc. and also had it on 50-100% brightness today cos im not going anywhere so may aswell have it that high and today/yesterday my LTE isn't working and getting poor signal(even though my carrier says nothing is wrong) raping my battery too.
Using the fingerprint scanner to unlock phone regularly to check something small uses battery a fair bit over time as far as i can see. 5 hours is good SoT either way.
Best thing was last niight, I put it on airplane mode @ 100% battery, 6 hours later woke up, 100% battery still. 0.03% per hour drain on battery monitor widget it said, lol.

Hi guys.
I always feel that my display eats the most of my battery..I know what do you expect from S.AMOLED Plus displays..Gorgeous i know but eats your battery..Anyway great app on the market that i have started to use and it works wonders for me and would like to spread the word, if you don't already know about about this app..
Link is this https://market.android.com/details?id=com.haxor&hl=en
Apologies if you already have it, but i just thought if there are more people like myself who want to save a bit of juice on your battery this is a great app to use specially if your brightness is abit to much as well.
Cheers
very good for bedtime reading too and discreet enough not to annoy the missus. This is one of the first apps I install on every Rom change.

I liked it but found out that if set too low (as it is very efficient) it can be tricky to find the icon or anything else for that matter so eventually I stopped using it

You always get the icon on the top left hand corner. if you bring down the drop down menu you could access the app from there.

The Ghost of Frank B

Android 4.0.3 + Franco's kernel is a speed demon!

Just recently upgraded to a 4.0.3 build and wow... The difference is tremendous. 4.0.2 felt really smooth and lag-free but this is really taking advantage of the hardware. It's by the far the smoothest UI I have ever used on a mobile device. Android has really come a long way! I don't think I could ever go back to using a Gingerbread device again
In case anyone is interested in giving it a shot, this rom + this kernel produce amazing results.
EDIT: Removed the video. Just realized some of the phone numbers are readable.
Can't wait for my Nexus, gonna unlock bootloader , root it, and then install 4.0.3
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
4.03 by itself is a lot better.. recent app button lag is practically gone from that alone..
Franco's kernel does help, of course.. but it was better than 4.02 even without it.

Yeap, I was on 4.0.3 alone before switching to franco's kernel. Both are much faster than 4.0.2. The kernel just gives it a little extra oomph.
As an CDMA/LTE user I guess I can just watch.
Nice, I'm going to wait for the official OTA or flash it manually once it's available because I don't want to lose all my settings.
I NEED 4.0.3 NAO!! omg I want it so bad!!!1! j/k
But seriously, I want it!
Can you show a vid of you pinch-zooming/scrolling around a heavy website like The Verge's desktop?
My G-Nex (VZN) is pretty laggy on that site, I wonder if 4.0.3 improves it..
No phone numbers required!

Still a bit too early to tell but I hear good things from other members.
Another +1 here for this combo. Loving it.
Turns out I also got a nice CPU that is happy to run with low voltage. Currently at 1000mv @ 1200mhz and testing.
edit: 900mv was fine, 850mv was instant crash. Going to settle for 925mhz.
Now to continue testing the other frequencies.

Those additional shortcuts (eg. to bookmarks) in quick controls in the browser, are they part of 4.0.3 update? I've only got three icons there with 4.0.1 official.
Overall, I'm very impressed, never thought that such heavy sites can run so smoothly. +1'd on YouTube

Quick controls is the feature you activate in your browser. Just go to settings, the last option there is the Labs. Go there and you'll find two "experimental" features, quick controls and full screen. Both are pretty decent. With quick controls you just touch the edge of the screen anywhere on the left side or right side and they'll show up giving you quick shortcuts to settings, tabs and to the address bar.

You should buy an app called Better Battery Stats from Play Store. It will monitor your battery life so that if you do encounter problems with drain, you can identify which app or process causes it.
I say just use your phone normally at first. I haven't had any lagging with this phone. Then if you do have problems, post on XDA about it. Of course minimizing sync settings is always a good idea. Apps that constantly monitor for updates do cause battery drain and use the cpu. I mean things like facebook, google+ and so on. If you have those set to push updates and alerts to your phone live as they happen, you might experience battery drain and maybe lagging too.

You have to find out where the wakelocks coming from. The view you have is some let me say general or grouped point of view.
Install better battery stats, OPG pro or Wakelock detector free to find the wakeup reason behind those.

I have battery drains too, but with System or Logd when I'm out. Unfortunately, without root, you cannot get many usefull information (I have stock ROM, no root). Problems persists also after an Hard-Reset.
The only thing I can get with "adb logcat -d" , from PC, is a chatty system_server...

Alternatives to Notifybuddy

Since MIUI 11, a lot of us apparently have trouble making Notifybuddy work properly on our devices.
As it seems like dev of the app has not time / doesn't want to fix the app for MIUI users, I was wondering what was your go to app for screen notifications.
I tried several that don't work either, so I ended using "always on amoled" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.newgen.alwayson).
I spent some time configuring it in the most minimalistic way and it does the job.
What are you using ?
