Does anyone have a Nandroid Backup I could Use for the Z00AD? - ZenFone 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all, little embarrassing coming here for this, but I'm in a little bit of a jam. I'm new to flashing custom ROMs, and I was trying to flash my first today, and managed to screw everything up in the process. I can boot into Clockwork mod via my PC, and I can still do everything I need to from there, but I was stupid, and didn't make a Nandroid backup before doing so. So I was wondering if anyone here could lend me theirs that I could slap onto an SD card, and recover my phone with. Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Just so we're clear, this isn't an attempt to get personal information. I will take any backups you have, with or without an unlocked bootloader, with or without rooting, with or without custom ROM, anything. Heck, I'd prefer to have it as close to stock as possible, so I can do everything myself. I just need a bit of a bailout here.

Shameful self-bump. I could still really use some help here.

That's a little hard to do when the device isn't recognized by my PC, and I can't get it to boot into any recovery that isn't Clockwork mod via my PC.

EDIT: Nevermind, seems I ADB recognizes the device with CWM running. Now I gotta see where to go from there.

Now I've encountered problem number 2: I didn't allow USB debugging for the computer I'm using (USB debugging is ticked in the settings [or at least I think it is], but it's not authorized for my PC). So here's the question: Can I authorize it through Minimal ADB and Fastboot?

Triple post, but it's with a question. I'm nearly positive that this whole ordeal is going on because I tried to boot into recovery mode with the TWRP app when no recovery was available. So now the question is, is there any way I can stop the phone from trying to boot into recovery so I can install a proper one?

Turn it off, then press volume up + power when vibrates, release power while holding volume up, then release volume up as well, it should boot into bootloader where you can fastboot a new recovery.

Tried that. Doesn't work. Like I said, it keeps booting into the psudo-recovery mode thing. I can't even boot into the bootloader from there.

Have u tried to boot into Fastboot from your Cm recovery? If not, there is a way to make the stock firmware flushable by twrp or cm recovery. I don't feel like typing the whole process but if u look around the forum for a sec u should find it pretty easily. Once u do that, everything will be factory again.

I have tried booting from CWM, but TWRP overrides it still. I'll look into flashing stock firmware through CWM though.

Removing CWM Recovery from g2?

I installed CWM recovery on my G2 and it keeps booting up automatically and I don't like that when I charge it so I want to remove it. What's the best way to remove it or flash stock recovery without losing data? Thanks all!

I really appreciate your help, but I kinda just want it off my phone completely as I have Autism and it bothers me a lot :\. I am very OCD about this kind of stuff and I just want my phone to turn completely off by itself. Thanks for all your help
Yeah, have the exact same error, I can't even calibrate my battery as it never shut down ...

On the sticky about how to revert back to stock there is the stock recovery image. Just flash that and your done. However i seem to recall the reboot thing being a know issue for the hboot? I might be totally wrong about that though. One other thing make sure your really rooted and true s off with the gfree method if you still want root and custom stuff.

I might be the only person who actually likes that it goes into recovery when plugged into usb and off. No stupid button combinations to remember. Personally the only time my phone is off is when it's dead. Otherwise it's 24/7 operation. To each his own though. I'm sure there is a guide on how to remove the recovery in the android development section.

Use this recovery. It is the stock eng-recovery. Its the stock recovery, but has adb enabled in it, just incase something goes wrong at somepoint it might be your window back in...

Put it in your sdk folder, boot into fastboot, then use the fastboot cmd in that post.

There isn't one. You either have to stay with the phone powered on in Clockwork and charging, or flash back to the stock recovery (e.g. if you have fastboot/adb working, then "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img", where recovery.img is a stock recovery image from the stock ROM).

If you go into fastboot mode then choose recovery to get to the screen with the red triangle, keep pressing the power button and volume buttons randomly until the stock recovery pops up. From there do a factory reset and it'll work, I just did it to mine!
I flashed the CWM recovery img so when I do what you say it takes me to the bootloader screen and says Downloading. No red triangle. It boots into CWM and then after 20 seconds restarts itself and hits the bootanimation loop. Any clue what to do next? Trying to flash the stock image but having issues using cmds in windows cmd

I cleared cache through cmd and i got to the red triangle...thank ****ing the lord. DTWAZERE, I will remember tonight. Thank you for your help.

Thing is it will delete the CWM recovery when you leave it so you'll have to reflash it, which is why this is so unstable!
I had the exact same thing as you and this is what I did:
Press the power button to turn it off while it says downloading
Hold both volume buttons down and power on to get into fastboot
Choose recovery
Press power and volume buttons randomly when the red triangle appears until you get stock recovery
Choose Factory Reset
Reboot
You should be able to get back into the rom that way,
to root it you need to boot into fastboot again, reflash the recovery, and sideload the superuser apk

Yeah this is exactly what I did and it worked. I'll wait on flashing anything until there's a stable recovery. I was fairly confident in what I was doing until that happened. Not being able to input commands from cmd prompt made me sick so I'll wait for a dev to release something that works without having to quickly install the drivers again within a 15-20 second timeframe. Too much stress.

THIS WORKED!!
Youre a genius. thanks!
When I try to install the manta drivers manually and tell it to search the same area that it searched and found the android bootloader drivers for fastboot mode it says that the drivers couldn't be found and installed. Am I missing something? Also if i try to do fastboot flash recovery it gives me an error message stating that it cannot determine the image filename for the recovery image.
Well i guess i did it the long way around.
Went to https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#mantarayjop40c
and downloaded the Nexus 10 file. extracted, and the actual files in the Nexus10Root folder.
Opened the flash-all.sh and entered each command manually because it was erroring out running the script.
After the 3rd command it booted right into android!

Some more details would help me understand better. What I'd love to know is.
1. What is the current state of the phone ?
2. Is it rooted or Are you trying to root ? If so what process.
3. Are you trying to flash a rom or Recovery or what ?
4. Last but not least. What rom and version you currently have on there ?

You didn't specify how you got here .What did you try to do, that left you in this state ? Am I assuming correctly that you somehow managed to wipe system partition and have only the stock recovery ?
If the phone is in Recovery mode, Odin will not work. You will need to reboot the phone into Download mode. To do this, you pull the battery out, volume down, home, and power button at the same time until you see the Samsung logo, and then release. You will see a warning message with bright yellow triangle and will say Downloading. Once that is done, connect to the PC.
Using ODIN, first flash a custom recovery such as TWRP. If you want to go back to stock, this is the time you flash Stock rom instead of the recovery.
If you want custom rom, copy the rom zip to the External SD card and then put that in the phone and flash via Custom Recovery.

Please note, the button combo slightly differs for Recovery versus Download mode
Recovery Booting - Power +Home + Volume UP
Download Mode - Power +Home + Volume DOWN
Do you still have the sd setup from the debrick thread? Can you see if you can get back to download mode by booting from that again?
If so, try flashing the Stock firmware again, and if you still end up in the same spot maybe try again, but this time flash CWM or TWRP recovery from Odin, then flash a Rom from recovery.
And I can't remember right off but did you try factory resetting from recovery?

Just to clarify, the boot recovery mode you are referring to, does it have the binary/flash count, system status, etc? Basically what do you see?
It sounds in some ways you are in download mode, but recovery is a very different mode, so just to clear up any confusion.....

[Q] Installing custom recovery? New to Samsung phones...

Hi,
This may be a stupid question but I'm new to Samsung phones so I don't know all the details (I've only been using HTC so far).
So I've followed all the steps and got root fine. However, I tried to reboot into recovery afterwards and it's like Clockworkmod has vanished.... It just gets into what looks to me like the stock recovery. Am I doing something wrong or does the phone automatically restore its stock recovery???
Also, can someone explain to me if it is possible to manually flash a recovery from the img file using fastboot like you do on HTC phones?
Oh, and another thing. What's this Odin thing? I never used anything like that with HTC...
Thanks

May I ask what variant you are using? GT-i9195?
Then please boot your phone into download mode, this can be done by first switching of your phone completely then holding the power button, home button and volume down button until the download screen appears where you press continue. Once you have done that connect your phone using the usb cable and make sure all drivers have been installed! Once the drivers are installed start up Odin uncheck the f.rest time box and click the AP section and then select the recovery file provided by Sir Arco in the root thread.
If you need more help please ask, If it worked then still reply
Odin is the software used to flash files to Samsung phones.
You will need to catch the first recovery boot after flashing the recovery image, or else the stock recovery will be reflashed once the phone boots up. Just reflash the recovery via Odin and make sure to boot into recovery right after the phone reboots after the flash.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I kind of realized that's what's happening. I've managed to boot into the custom recovery right after the flash and did what I had to do in there, but then after I reboot the phone again, the custom recovery is gone. Is there a way to stop stock recovery being reflashed automatically?
Also, if I want to install a custom kernel, how can I backup the current one so that I can restore it at a later date if I need to? I know how to do this on HTC phones but it all seems to be a bit different on Samsung and I don't want to mess up anything.
How did you reboot? If you select the reboot option in the CWM recovery,it should follow with a question on whether you want to continue rebooting with reverting to stock recovery or not.

Umm... yeah, I think it did ask but I just accidentally pressed no before reading what it said... So I guess I'll just have to flash the recovery again and then answer yes to that question.

Yes that would be the correct way to do it.

Yes, I'm in TWRP, exactly v.2.8.0.1, from topic of your ROM. Bud now I can't connect phone via ABD drivers. I try it via apps and two ways via Commans window.
I'm only in TWRP. I can't get to fastboot, I can't install ROM now, phone reaction is the same as I hold power up+vol up button.
I need one of two ways... 1,get phone connected with PC via fastboot to flash new kernel, boot.img and at least your ROM
2,get phone connected with PC via mass storage, to get some old ROM, flash it and get to fastboot...

You cannot use fastboot command in recovery, You can use the adb commands only. Did Yo try pushing the ROM to phone?

Ah apologies, got lost while replying.
Anyways, lets start from basic. Can You try un-installing and installing the fastboot drivers? Because I suspect that's why You are not able to enter into fastboot mode.

Just a sec, what combination do You use to go into bootloader? Power up+volume up? That is not what Yo do, You disconnect the phone from cable, and then turn off the phone. Then just press volume up, and connect the phone. No other button is needed to be pressed.

Apologies, might have missed out Your quote earlier. So You now have ROM and other stuff in the phone. What problem are You facing Now? Also I would recommend the new released version b14c with kernel from b14d of nAOSP.

simply... I get to bootloader as we wrote last. Then I flash kernel, and phone died. Now I can only charge or see a Sony logo. I can ONLY this now. no buttons helps, no different cable/slot/PC helps... I'M only in charging mod, after turn on only logo see. no TWRP, no bootloger.

So You can't even go into bootloader now? That's weird and also makes this a bit complicated! Because You need to be able to go into bootloader mode to flash a new kernel which has recovery. Hope You are pressing only volume while connecting phone to PC. Drivers are fine as You were able to flash a kernel earlier. Which Kernel did You flash first? If You are able to go into bootloader, then flash this kernel via fastboot mode.

So You were able to flash the kernel I gave? Then You should be able to boot into CWM recovery. The Kernel logo will be of a Android bot.
