Transfer pictures & Video to Note 7 - Note 7 Questions & Answers

Hello ,
Recently my wife got S7 upgrading from S6. I tried to use Smartswitch but I faced couple issues that I want to avoid when I upgrade from Note5 to Note7.
- Her S6 64GB has around 50 GB of Media. When I tried to use smartswitch, the internal memory got filled up and paused everything until i move some Media to MIcroSD. I tried to find different ways to move it to SD but no luck and I ended up using my PC through the normal method of copy /Paste.
- Another issue I faced is that the pictures lost its Meta data which result in pictures and videos got mixed up (recently taken vs old media).
If anyway know a better way to transfer my media to Note7, I would really appreciate the help.
Regards
Yathani

Recovery from Format?

Well, I pulled a boneheaded stunt. I accidentally formatted my internal storage instead of the SD card in my phone.... SIGH.... The bad part is, I had a couple of pics I hadn't moved up to the cloud yet, and they're irreplaceable. (One was of my wife and her 4 cousins after her grandfather's funeral) I'm hoping someone has an idea... I've tried Recuva and Pro Discover Basic to try to recover, with no luck.
Any other ideas?
None that I know of, sorry bud. You should start backing up you're pics and important files. I hope someone else can find something but from what I know people have never been able to recover after a format

Yes, I usually do. Thanks for the sage advice. I never would have thought to back up important files and pics.

Look at the get more storage from drop box thread and u can have it upload photos automatically so you never loose them. I have 7 GB on there now

Try unformat software using your PC. You must stop using your phone immediately though. As when you use the phone new stuffs are being written on the internal card and less chance of you recovering old data from it.
I've had some success with Recuva before.

[Q] Mass Storage

..I probably know the answer to this, but I figured I'd ask anyway.
Obviously the big thing on the nexus is the MTP feature
Its slow and painful, not only can it not connect to other devices it just sucks. So.. before I pull out my hair, maybe someone has an option besides (DLNA!) they are horrible on the nexus and I have not used them since.
Mostly I'd like to connect this to my PlayStation 3, but unfortunately it uses USM like a normal device.
You ask why? Dlna is beyond slow and disconnects on me - I've tried them all. I want to copy music over, pictures and videos.
So as a last call.. is there something I can do?
P.s. I did try Stick Mount but this did nothing.

No, you can't make the Galaxy Nexus use USB Mass Storage.
Kinda figured that.. had to ask though.

It really bugs me as well. I'm done with MTP altogheter. I prefer to use adb for copying stuff.

[Q] how do you find/fix corrupt media files

I've been having the media server battery drain problem and a lot of people are saying it's because of a corrupted media file. So how exactly do I find out if I have any? Some are saying to reformat the sd card. But if I'm transferring my files to my comp and then reformatting the card that is not going to fix any files right? So how can I find out which ones are bad?
Easiest way to do it is load them up onto a computer and if they display a thumbnail and play/view without issues then they are fine.

At that rate I'd rather just delete all my music since it's all on google music and I'm usually on wifi anyway. That's 20 gigs out of like 24 used on my SD card so... that would probably be the easiest route.

What did you do to make the media server kick in and start draining the battery? Streaming, gaming, etc!
I say that because when I play some games my media server will pop up with high usage! Something is making it come on.

no streaming, no gaming nothing at all
after resting the device to factory setting i just installed back everything i had before and then restarted the phone, i did not even made any phone calls
but the media server appeared and eating up my battery....
so weird ........
Media server is scanning your sd card and external sd card. Whenever you flashed a new rom or reset the phone to factory default, media server will run depending on how much stuffs you have in those SD.
Best way is format the internal SD card with twrp or cwm(of cuz backing up all the files that you will need first). Check the external SD card with chkdsk make sure everything is working properly. To test it out, take out the external SD as well. Let your phone run for a day or so. Check with better battery status and your media server will not/should not be running anymore.
Mine only run about 5% the most.
you probably have a samsung ultra 32 gb memory card that is about to be fried. LIke was posted, take the card out or put another card in. You can check the phone after a short period of time and your media process will probably be normal.
Probably time to transfer your files to your computer and attempt to reformat the sd card or trash it and get a new one

Question did you try clearing media storage by any chance? Since your facing the same issuers.. That's helped me one b4, with a similar issue. Not sure if it'll help you but worth, a try.
Another thing try turning off everything. No data, Bluetooth, WiFi, etc, nothing few hours or so if you don't need your phone! And see if it's still running. If not then it's something that's pulling in data from somewhere

Meaning are you only using the same changer that came with the phone. Because it's a 2.1 amp changer which your phone needs. But older chargers for our older phones were 1 amp chargers. That's why I'm saying we're you using just only one charger or different ones. Sometimes chargers can give you problems was my reason for that statement!
Did a lil searching and like I taught its something that's on there. Either a file you loaded or downloaded? Just not sure what it is. But check this link out to see if it helps you..

Media server on my device was eating up battery before I could make it through a day with zero use...just sitting all day. I didn't know what the issue was, so I rooted, fomatted the sd card and flashed cleanrom 4.5 and phone has been perfect since.

Hide it Pro App

I recently backed up my old SD card, just saved Pictures, Docs, Music, and Vids. Now I saved the Hide it Pro from Android-ProgramData- Hide It Pro. Then my card died. Got new card, dragged everything i saved up above over, but it won't show the items in the Hide It Pro App. Was wondering if I missed something. Now, I did save my entire SD card from last year, but I don't see the files either. Is there another place where they get saved, besides the Hide it Pro from Android-Program Data. I know it comes out of Language-fr, but nothing is in there. What am I missing? Please help!! Lol..driving me insane!!
Have you tried the find missing files function in settings? That has worked for me once before.
