4.2.2 is able to be unlocked and rooted.
However, Sense 6 is android 4.4.2, not 4.2.2 and no it's not really rootable as of now.
There is a temp root, but it's not really what you need or want.
There are many threads on this topic already...

Newbie question regarding firmware updates

Hi guys,
So I have the unlocked HTC One M8 Asian variant, im rooted with unlocked bootloader and S-On. CWM Recovery.
I am now running CM11 on 4.4.4 and I want to go and try some Sense 6 based custom ROMS like Viper or InsterCoin.
Do I HAVE TO update my firmware in order to do so? What is exactly the firmware and how can I know what i'm running right now?
Any good tutorial in order to update firmware while S-On or guide to install sense based rom without updating firmware?
THANKS!
Nimi

[Q] HTC One M8 stable 5.0 Lollipop?

Is it possible to get the version of 5.0 lollipop that Google and HTC push to the Google Play Edition M8s on my rooted AT&T M8? Could it be possible in the future?
How?
Of course. There is already a "leaked" ROM in the Verizon Development forum, and one with tweaks (SkyDragon). But more "official" versions should be on the way.
Flash like any other ROM. You may need to update your firmware, or have broken WiFi.
