Does the Iris scanner work through glasses? - Note 7 Questions & Answers

As the title - has anyone tries this yet?

yes confirmed by a friend living in bahrain and get n7 from dubaii 1 weeks ago and he put glasess like me and 1 question i asked if it work with glasses lol

Yes, I can confirm that it works as well. I tried testing it myself with people who have contacts and glasses. Both of them were able to use the scanner without any problems.

Android authority did a review and they were able to use the scanner with glasses and contacts.

Great. Thanks for that folks!

Also should work with Wine glasses!

Does that include sunglasses too

One of the review videos I watched yesterday actually showed the iris scanning work while the reviewer had sunglasses on. It took a little longer, but the infrared seems to make it possible. I'll see if I can find the clip and post it here.

XDA EXECUTIVE REMOTE

hey
I am new to this. First time I am using this site as I was recomended by a work colleague.
I have a O2 XDA EXECUTIVE and wondered if i can turn this into a remote control aswell.
thanks
The Universal has a strong infrared port. So it can be used with no problem as a remote control.
Just get one program to do this. Novimedia Remote is one example. Search the Internet for others.
besides that, use the search function of this forum as this matter was discussed at least one time extensively here.
That's cool!
WHERE THE HECK IS IT!
I've been looking for 2 days and I still can't find the IRDA port!
Oh wait. . There it is! It looks just like the rest of the case plastic!
mate youve added some life to this board you humor on your post has made me chuckle cheers mate
|bows| Muchose gracias.
Interesting, I've just noticed that the entire plastic there is purple, as is the surround covering the Camera.
I have to say, I like it. Do you think I can get an entire replacement case made of it?
lmfao
gosh! The port have been starting at you in the face while using the keyboard.

Help with TORQUE app

Hey guys. So I just got my bluetooth ODB adapter in the mail and wanted to test it out on my 02 Infiniti with the Torque app. I was able to pair the adapter with my phone but it said it was only paired not connected. I tried numerous times to get it to pair and connect to the phone but it would only pair.
Ok, so having paired it with the phone I opened the app and went to the ODP Adapter section. This indicated that everything was connected and working properly. When I went to the Live section where it shows your cars stats live that was working. The only thing that wasn't working was the most important thing...the Fault Code section wouldn't load. I don't remember the exact message but I think it said ECU has no fault codes.
I hope all this made some kind of sense. If anyone is familiar with this app can you please tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Perhaps u have no error codes to clear. Btw it does not show in connected after a pairing but it works. Shows no error codes on my car but i do not have a check engine light on
Sent from my LogicPD Zoom2 using XDA App
No fault codes is good thing.
If you get any fault codes, then you have emission problems.
There are not suppose to be any codes, they mean trouble and something is broke.

Yeah and usually if you have a fault code you would already know since on most new(er) cars an indicator light will go off.
Disconnect your MAF sensor, or a wheel speed sensor, go for a short drive. Guaranteed to trip a MIL.
The speed sensor will trip the abs and or traction control light but not a Check Engine light. The maf will for sure though along with several other sensors.
That's right... Good point! leave your gas cap off, that will definitely set off a fault code.
Just finished repairing my 2002 silverado with this app and my Bluetooth obdII scanner...
Best $54 spent! First repair and the combo paid for itself.... Had a faulty O2 sensor, a quick run to oreily auto parts, and within 20 min my truck was like new again
Highly recommend !
I actually just got mine yesterday and started messing around with it. So far I think its great. I had the same problem at first that it paired but not connected but you have to make sure you go into the adapter setting and choose to connect it to the reader. The only thing I wish it did was clear the CEL. Other than that it is a great setup.
What OBD dongles are you using? Price $? Link?
Thanks!
I have had this app for a year now and love it! I have been using an adapter from ebay (about 30 bucks from china) and never had any problems.
Fyi.
When you pair your obd dongle, it won't show connected unless you have the app running. When the app is not in use and you look at bluetooth devices it will say paired but not connected.
Once you turn app on it will be connected.

I'm using this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Wire...Z260760136334QQptZMotorsQ5fAutomotiveQ5fTools
I bought it from a different seller but it looks just like this one. It has yet to fail me on any car I've tried it on, but sometimes you have to turn the app on and off and tinker with it to get it to connect. This is one my favorite apps.......been using it since I got my Evo.
OP = Depending on your car, disconnecting the MAF sensor may not even allow it to turn on, but you can try it. I can tell you my car won't turn on if I unplug the MAF. As other people mentioned, If you don't have any "check engine" or warning lights turned on in your dash, the fact that it's not throwing out any trouble codes means it is working correctly.
Sometimes you have to turn the car on and not just leave it in start

I'm using this one. Its the same one thats on ebay, but this website offers money back guarantee, and most of the ebay sellers dont. It does take about 3 weeks to get here, as it comes from Hong Kong. But honestly, this is the best 30 bucks I've ever spent. This with the Torque app is amazing, does the same thing a 300 dollar scan tool will, and MORE.

Yea, they're all the same part with a different sticker on it. Look at the design of the plastic case, the position of the lights, the ridges on the side, etc. I agree that this is some of the best money I've spent, too. Also, the dev for the app is always on point fixing bugs and updating features. I've used it to trouble shoot other people's cars and made several jaws drop with this app on a few different occasions. Not to mention all the extra live data it gives you that you would normally have to buy and install individual gauges for. This app is a MUST for any car enthusiast.
Thanks for the links!
Someone above said that torque does not permit you to clear trouble codes. According to their market link description it does -= https://market.android.com/details?id=org.prowl.torque . Confirm?

It absolutely does allow you to diagnose and clear trouble codes.
Anyone figure out a way to take screen shots with this app? I am trying to diagnose a problem and need to email a screen shot, but ShootMe requires the accelerometer to shake and this app seems to tie up the accelerometer. Tried using shout or block light sensor to trigger the screenshot and they don't seem to work reliably.

Elegant charging stand

Found this on thingyverse. Prints in about 6hours on a Makerbot. Really nice. The person who designed this also figured out the correct center of mass and it's very stable and hard to knock over. Sorry if I missed that somebody already posted this (I could not find it here).
That is really cool, thanks! Getting quotes from the local 3D printers. Can I ask how much you paid for yours to be made?

I didn't pay for mine. Just used a printer at work with some extra feed-stock material sitting around. The tricky part was to get all the support material off. I can't imagine this will be cheap. Similar items go for $25 at Amazon. It's much easier to print this one: http: / / www.thingiverse.com/thing:1383100

There are local print shops emerging in a lot of places, maybe one in your area. Just take your design to the shop and have it printed or print it yourself.
That will eliminate shipping costs as well , which can be high depending on how far it has to go.
Is there a link to the printer files for the original stand pictured? Am I completely blind? I'd love to donate to that person and get that stand printed!!
Edit: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1306057 yeah.. I'll remember to look better next time >_<
never mind, wrong thread
Just got my printed stand in the mail from my friend today! Fits like a glove! Balances well, attaches to charge wonderfully. I am beyond stoked right now.
Funny, I just got my Huawei watch today and 3d printing a stand was my first thought as I plan to use a metal band and the stock charger wouldn't be very accommodating for that. Then I came here and saw this thread.
3D printing it in wood right now, will post pictures when it's done.
Well I rushed the post processing (staining and painting) because I'm heading out for the holidays and wanted to at least get something done. Still wet. I'll probably re-do it in the new year and make it completely smooth and more wood like.
Looking good!
Anyone know of any services in the UK that might be able to print this for me?

Barometer

Hello!
I'm a paragliding pilot and I use the smartphones with special apps that helps me to detect hot air masses and helps me navigate better when I'm flying. These applications require a barometer that is only available on a small number of smartphones and the Mix 2 is one of them.
I want to buy a Mix 2 in 1-2 days but I dont know anything about the barometer inside and how good/bad is it.
Can someone please install this app from playstore (Sensor Test by Andrey Efremov, it has a blue icon with a arrow) and post a screenshot from the barometer/info page?
I want to see what vendor (probably Bosch) and model is the barometer sensor so I can make some research about it.
Thanks in advance!
I can't post a pic for some reason, but yes, it's Bosch.
Can you please tell me the exact name of the sensor?
My old Nexus 5 is using a Bosch BMP280 sensor wich did a great job. I want see if the new Xiaomi phones have the same sensor or a newer model.
Thanks!

Smart thing to do... install something because someone tells you to do so...
That app is safe. I'm not a spammer, but that app is the only one I know that shows the barometer name.
Search my youtube channel (epuru) so you can see that I'm a paragliding pilot and the fast beep beep beep sound you hear in my flying videos is produced by the barometer.
My old Nexus 5 is still doing a great job, but I'm in love with the Mix 2, but if the barometer from the Mix 2 is not ok I will have to say pass.

Excuse me, but it is a bit odd in these days.
I read this forum a lot, but only today I have registered. You are right to be suspicious, but I still need help. My time is a little limited for research because I want to catch the discounts from aliexpress on theri 11.11 discounts festival.
Install whatever apps (maybe aida64/cpu-z) you know that shows infos about the barometer and please tell me the complete name of the sensor so I can find a datasheet about it.
Thank you!

You could have found it yourself: Bosch BMP285
How? I dont have the Mix 2 yet, that's why I asked here.
I hope it's better or at least as good compared to the BMP280 from my Nexus 5.
I will ask a friend with a Mi6 to see if it has the same sensor as the Mix 2 and if he can let me to see how accurate is.
Thank you!

No hard feelings, my friend!
If the Bosch BMP280 sensor from Nexus 5 was good I suppose the Bosch BMP285 from the Mix 2 is a newer, better and even more accurate sensor.
I have just ordered in advance 2 tempered glass screen protectors and a case from Aliexpress and I will wait two days for the "chinese black friday" to order the Mix 2. I hope I will not break it on a paragliding hard landing.
Thanks for everything.

Hello! I dont know yet because weather is bad in Romania and my last flight was 2 months ago.
I played in house a little bit with it and it seems to be accurate and works great. My old Nexus 5 (BMP280 barometer) did a great job with XC Track, and it seems that Mix 2 (BMP285 barometer) is even better.
I cant wait for a day with nice weather so I can test it in a real flight.

Note 10+ 3D Scanner

Yesterday I received my T-Mobile variant Note 10+ which I pre-ordered from Samsung website. The device is awesome, but one of the key features they showed at unpacked is not on the device. I have not been able to find the 3D scanner. Is it just me or this is an issue? Thank you.

Yeah, that's what I heard over on Reddit. Didn't know that at the time. I've also tried scanning non reflective items and they still didn't turn out too well either.
Hopefully over time, the app will get some updates. New toy. New software. I have seen a few impressive videos of some captures that were really good. I have anywhere from 30 minutes to 6 hours before mine is in my hands to play with. That is one of the features I am dying to test.

Still doing some testing.
I believe models are a close scale. I just need a better scan area since you have to be able to walk around the whole item.
.obj works not sure about the texture file though
