Xperia XA Ultra Cases thread! - Sony Xperia XA Ultra Accessories

What sort of case/cases are you gonna get? Are you the type of person who gets more than one case? Lets discuss it here!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/MYBAT-Gloss...734120?hash=item54346bd1a8:g:qOEAAOSwRgJXkt4P
That's what I've gotten so far.
I'm also looking for one of those waterproof bag things...since I go out walking/running a lot, and would hate to get caught in the rain without something for it.

Here is the Case On Tpu Case. It fits really good and is medium thickness. I hope Rinke makes a case for this device, best quality cases by far. Also have a Nilkin Qin Case On the way. I'll post some pics when it arrives.

There's some good case's and screen protection on Sonys website for both xa models Inc full coverage screen protection.

Thanks for the pictures. Helps a lot. I ordered a few cases to, I'll post when I get them.

My experience with cases
I've ordered and tried several cases from eBay.
The best is a grey flip case. It fits the phone perfectly and the rubber insert is clear so the white phone looks good inside. It's protected the phone fairly well when I've dropped it. It was $7 from here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Luxury-Flip-Leather-Wallet-Card-Holder-Stand-Case-Cover-For-Sony-Phone-Models-/191988135913 I stuck a small flat magnet inside the credit card slot and pushed it to the bottom edge and the case activates the screen when I flip it open. I like that feature and wish they had positioned the magnet that the case already has properly so the screen sleep feature would just work. I quit carrying a wallet and only carry this case with a credit card and driver's license inside. The only issue I have with the case is when using the back camera flash. The case reflects the flash back into the lens and fogs things out. Also, you can't use this type of case with a selfie stick.
I bought a cheaper case with a canvas dark grey material and it's terrible. The case flip cover is about a half inch too wide. Also the rubber phone holster is black and doesn't fit the holes well. I didn't try to use it to take photos. It was $4 here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Luxury-Book-Flip-Stand-Wallet-PU-Leather-Soft-TPU-Cover-Case-For-Sony-Phone-/131705402325
I got this case for my wife after her first case failed. It's very rugged but the white gets dirty quickly. Also, I had to cut out the power and volume buttons because the rubber was so stiff that the power button would press if you held the side of the case hard (like a selfie stick). With the power button hole cut out we no longer have any problems with the phone screen going off by itself. It was under $4 here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hybrid-Rugged-Armor-Stand-Rubber-Case-Shockproof-Cover-Sony-XPERIA-XA-Ultra-/222294123946?var=&hash=item7955ec9560
And lastly, my wife wanted this case http://www.ebay.com/itm/US-Bing-Diamond-Mirror-PC-Cover-Metal-Aluminum-Bumper-Case-For-Sony-Phones-/162229273604 because of the bling but it blocked the signal when the phone was inside it. Also, she dropped the phone a couple of times and the cover popped open and the phone came bouncing out. I could probably have glued the case together to prevent that but there was nothing I could do to keep it from killing the GSM signal. So while she loved the case for the bling it just doesn't work.

I have tried 3 flip covers already and they all have this same problem, I can take photo without the flash, but with flash it always fogs things out to a certain degree, I don't understand what is so special about this flash, the cutout hole at the back for the camera and flash seems wide enough and I am sure such cutout would work on other phones, but on this XA Ultra the flash is somehow so wide that it will reflect off the case and fog out the whole photo. Taking flash photos without the case will not have such problem.
Anyone find a case that can take flash photos?

Flash Fog
I was able to reduce the flash fog on a white case by marking the insides of the camera/flash cutout with a sharpie black marker. I'm looking for a better solution though. So far even one of the clear cases I have shows the flash fog.

My girlfriend have the official SCR60 case in white and no problem with the flash. The case have a black plastic ring around the hole.

That's it!! That's the solution!! I painted the inside of the cutout black, and no more foggy flash photos!! Thanks!!!
Now if there is a solution to my other problem with this phone..... is there a way to turn off the auto off function when using a flip cover? I happen to find a flip cover case with a window, expecting to see who is calling and the time without flipping it open. It is completely understandable to have the auto off when flip closed if it is a tablet, because you will not use a tablet when flip is closed. However, in a phone, I hope to see who is calling with a window in the flip cover, so that I can determine whether to take the call and how urgent the call is, with this phone I don't have this ability because the phone will stay off as long as the flip is closed, even pressing the on/off button will not turn on the phone.
Besides, I have this problem that my no brand flip cover when fully opened to the back will trigger the magnetic switch and switch off the screen, I don't know if the Sony original flip cover have this problem too?

Hi, I have a found a very nice case for our XAU. It looks nice, great fit, and keeps the power/volume buttons flush so your not accidentally pushing them when holding the phone. It's the Shanbo Tpu case found on EBay for $6. Here are some pics
Edit: all sold out.

Best Case/Cover/Shell

Just want to know from you guys experience.
Who makes the best cases/covers/shells for samsung?
And if any of you are using cases/shells/covers, which are you using? Would you recomend?
What are your experiences?
I'm not really a fan of the flipcases
Thanks
If you are on a high budget, you could look at the Impact-absorbing Tech21 cases.
Those are of high build quality.
I recently got a casemate tough case for my sgs4 mini and I am very pleased with it, both handling-wise and in terms of general ruggedness.
Did anyone get a screen protector? I loved the exim ultraprotect on my old nokia, but the s4 mini is my first phone with a capacitive touch screen and I am unsure if a screen protector will hurt its responsiveness.
I got a screen protector applied the moment I unpackaged my phone at the shop. They applied a Screenguard branded clear (non-matte) screen protector and responsiveness hasn't been an issue in the 4 weeks I've had the phone.
This screen protector ($4) is a fingerprint magnet though, but it has perfect cut-outs for the light, proximity sensors and front - facing camera as well as the home button.
Case
I just bought a Belkin case named "Grip Sheer Matte" in a blackish-brownish transparent tone for the black S4m (ha! SAM!).
It was 12€ in an electronics store here in .de but you can probably get it cheaper online (see link).
I like the soft and smooth feel. The case fits quite good and protects the back and all edges. The ports and buttons are accessible and the holes on the back for camera and speaker are in the right places.
Cheers,
CS
I bought the original Samsung Flip Cover with view... I think its the best but it was not cheap.
Just got a Samsung Flip Cover without view (which replaces the back cover). After using a ROCK flip case, a MERCURY Fancy Diary flip case and a simple metallic-red non-flip case, the Samsung Flip Cover seems to do its job best. The cover is heavy enough to hold itself down when the phone is facing up, and folds behind nicely such that it is comfortable to hold.
What's the point of having such a small metal bumper? In case of a drop it won't absorb any energy ...
Its probably to protect the original metal rim against scratches and bumps. Good for maintaining the resale value! (The screen protector will protect the front, and the back cover is replaceable)
damn.. i want those pretty and sturdy cases from otterbox, uag, spigen etc
Does the S-View cover also protect the edges?
After almost 2 months I notice that I already have a couple of bumps right on the edge of the screen. I don't want to buy a thick shell since I bought the Mini exactly because of the sleaziness and the S-view looks quite nice..

No. The S-View cover replaces your back cover of the phone. Thus it only protects the back. The sides are exposed except for the left side of the phone where the cover flips over the phone.

For me the ideal would be a bumper, so that the edges are protected and I'm not carrying around a brick. I'll keep on duckduckgoing and see what I can find..
I've been looking for a decent rubber bumper as well. I've only seen a metal one with a weird branding on the side. Do post here if you manage to find one!

Will a rubber bumper protect against a drop (say, from table height)? Will the S-view cover protect against a drop?
I wouldn't be bothered by scratch or bumps on the plastic housing. Mainly looking for protection against the screen/digitizer/glass breaking from a fall.
I bought this one.
Fits tightly around the S4 mini and does not add any bulk. The phone still looks very slim and small. Material is of good scratch resistance but probably not a real bumper. It's slightly transparent, so the Samsung logo and the silver pattern of the back cover shines through a bit. Really looks good.

I just received the same case and it is better than expected. Took less than a week from Germany to UK and less than 10 GBP Inc postage.
This case is so small and thin that it doesn't alter the feel of the phone apart from the texture. It'sthin enough to fit in my S2 desktop charger/dock and also my windscreen mount with the case on.
I ordered the following in blue/black. It looks somewhat...different! I hope it's not too much when I put it on the phone. It came to six euros which is reasonable. I'll post my impressions when it arrives.

CaseMate Naked Tough Review

Stopped by AT&T and picked up a Moto X and bought a body skin and CaseMate case which the guy there applied.
I got home and tested the audio quality of the speaker and thought it was terribly low in volume and tinny sounding.
Turned out the CaseMate case I had bought had a layer of plastic skin that covers the entire back of the phone, blocking the speaker, flash and camera entirely.
The case is the one with bumpers, the Naked Tough. I got the clear one, which apparently isn't available yet online.
Just a word of caution.

Oh lawd guy at AT&T thought the backing was supposed to be there, so he rung me up for two skins and put one on the back of the case. My fault.
So this will be a general review.
Case level of protection: 8/10
With a built in bumper overall it should absorb most shock from a fall and the bumper provides inlaid chrome buttons allowing easy access to power and the volume rocker. Makes it a bit clicky feeling. Subtle lip protects the front when placing it down.
Aesthetics: 8/10
The Moto X is a highly customizable phone, so the clear Naked Tough case provides full view of the back and matted view of the sides. If you have a customized Moto with colored volume rocker, etc, your customization except for the camera ring will be covered over and not visible.
Feel: 6/10
Feels entirely like it's materials, slightly plasticky and ergonomically the naked phone is better contoured than the Naked Tough. The Motorola indent is more pleasing on the hands with a caseless phone especially while making a call, as you can put your index finger in the contour of the indent. The case is fairly thin but no poetic atmosphere style like on a nexus. The naked phone rolls more when placed down on a flat surface, this feels a bit more secure.
Cost:
I picked mine up for at AT&T, for which you can read the story. Overall a fairly reasonable price for a case, however no monoprice status.
Overall: 7/10
I prefer the naked phone, but who doesn't? On the HTC One the Double Dip case is known to scratch the phone on removal, removing this case is protected by the bumper, but to me I would worry like how my HTC got scratched from the slide motion that removing this case might do the same as it fits very snug. I have removed it twice, once to see if my ears were hearing things when the protective backing muffled the sound, and a second time to take it to AT&T and have Rob view his handiwork.
Thanks guys.

The product images there showing the back case with cutout for all the things you mentioned! I'm not a case mate fanboy, but I've got several of their products, and I can't say they're bad or problematic.
I bought the same case and it does have a film on the back, but that's just a temporary protective film for the case. Just peel it off.

This is why the world is in complete turmoil. Thanks Keinx for bringing this to the attention of the OP. Measure twice, cut once is a good rule for everything, including forums.
Yep, yep yep ohgodwhy, the body armor is on the case. He charged me for two, he put the front protector on the front, rear protector on the back, opened another and put the front protector on the case. Disregard the case notice, but fair warning against AT&T touching your phone at all.
EDIT for clarity: I stopped by to return the case and the guy said he was sorry he "removed the backing, so put another on" and offered to give me my money back for the second skin.
Just got this case straight from AT&T (they've got the exclusive clear/clear version, whereas elsewhere on the web, including case-mates's site, you can get the clear/black version). I like it alot - even better than the Hyperion TPU case I had been using. The plastic is very smooth (means it might slide about on an equally smooth surface), and the rubber bumper provides a nice bit of extra protection - good for someone like me who puts the phone in a generic vehicle dock and doesn't want to see the side of the device getting scratched up.
Really loving this case. I have the Verizon developer edition and the black/clear case combo look so much better than the clear version in my opinion.
The black bumper keeps the front looking neat and the back can still be shown off and looks nice with the black bumper.
I got the clear/clear from AT&T and placed an order on the clear/black. I think it will flow with the phone much better.
Seems very slippery.
Also noticed that the USB cutout, the back edge, isn't rounded so when you're holding it there with your finger it can get a little uncomfortable.

[REVIEW][PICS] Cheap Slim Hard Case

I picked up a white one of these:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/For-LG-G.../221311296509?ssPageName=ADME:L:eek:C:AU:3160
It has a matte translucent finish, and the case is hard, not TPU. I prefer translucent to clear as it doesn't show all the dust and crap that inevitably builds between the phone and the case. It fits perfectly and the buttons are easily accessible. I like that you can still see the rear logo and the case isn't physically obtrusive at all. The gap between screen and front bezel is just over 1mm. Worth the buy, especially for $5. I dropped it 20 minutes ago on a tile floor from about 1m up, no physical change. Can't tell if it landed on a front or back corner as there are no marks. Paid for itself 100 times over.

I have had one of these for a bit over a week and it's cracking all over the place where I tend to hold my phone. Not from drops, just the stress of holding the phone. :-/

I have also ordered one Amzer belt clip case for my N5 from a reseller site Fommy...just waitng for it to be delivered..and will surely put up the pics and reviews of the case....as I have also used the cases earlier also of this brand and they were quite sturdy and sustainable one...so considering the past experience I ordered one for my N5 too....so hoping that it wont let me go down.....

Looking for a bumper/case that is as open as possible

Hey all. Ordered my Moto X :victory: but the ebony back is backordered until at least 2/11 So, at least I have time to figure out what accessories I want. Right now, I'm looking for an "unobtrusive" case/bumper.
With a really nice back, and custom accents, I don't want to cover either of them up. I was initially looking at bumpers so I can keep the back open (to show off the ebony) and the dimple exposed (because everyone seems to be obsessed with it). While there are plenty of those, they all seem to come with button covers. Why cover the buttons on a phone where the buttons have been customized?
Next, I figured I would look at some cases with clear backs. The only one I could find that was clear, and that left the dimple exposed, was the incase snap case (available on Motorola's site for too much damned money). On top of that, I know people with the case that don't like it (because it's too tight), or have read reviews indicating that the tightness ended up cracking the screen (an outlier, I'm sure).
I'd prefer to find a bumper with the buttons exposed. Failing that, I would like to find a case with a clear back, cutout for the dimple, and isn't ridiculously bulky and/or expensive. Any help would be appreciate, thanks.
I decided to go with a bumper for my Moto X and got this one: http://amzn.com/B00F2YEIXO
The downside to any bumper would be that it will cover the buttons, but the accent color around the camera will still be visible and the dimple will still be there.
This is the SUPCASE: http://amzn.com/B00E8GQHM2 It's similar to bumper but has a clear back and keeps the dimple
A few other cases I found:

Thanks. Yeah, I noticed that every single bumper has the buttons covered. I don't get that. I mean, they have cutouts for headphones, USB, SD card, etc. Why can't they leave a cutout for buttons? Doesn't make sense.
I was in your shoes back when I first got my moto x. I rejected the in case snap case for the same reason.
I ended up just using mine naked with a pouch. Still in perfect condition two months later. You will find that you can't beat the feel of a naked moto x. I am super protective and will put on a bumper if the situation calls for it though. So maybe going naked (at least situationally) is something you may want to consider although I know I never would have initially since I'm the protective type and it would kill me to see a scratch or crack on my phone.
I had a TPU case on mine for the longest time that had the buttons covered. I hated it because I couldn't always tell where the buttons were on the side.
I just received this new bumper case and so far I love it. EDIT: I just saw that someone already linked to it.
It does cover the buttons, but the way it is made, they are raised on the case and have a great feel when clicked. It does not cover the back at all. Also note that I have a zagg style protector on the back of the phone so I'm not worried about scratches on the back.
I have both the SupCase and this bumper (appears the same as the Amazon one and the other eBay one linked above) and I really like the cheapo bumper better than the SupCase. The button covers on the bumper actually have a better tactile feedback than the naked phone itself.
Can I ask why you don't want the buttons covered? Most of my cases on my Nexus 5 has the buttons exposed and I wasn't a fan of that (nor was I a fan of the cases with bad covers for the buttons - those suck too). IMHO, the cheap bumper I have has somehow managed to have a good implementation for the button covers! I'm not a huge fan of the SupCase's covers for the buttons.
Side note: The dimple on the wood backs aren't nearly as nice as the dimples on the plastic backs. It's much more subtle instead of being an obvious place to hold/balance/control your phone from. While it's there, it's not something to rave about. The dimple on the plastic backs, on the other hand, are nice. I'm a bit jealous, honestly. (I have an Ebony/black/black)

I like that the wood backed Moto X's have shallower/smoother dimple. I've held a "regular" black Moto X with the carbon back and I didn't like how the edges around the dimple felt. With the bamboo back I have, it's all smooth and my index fingers rests very nicely there.

Very fair opinion! I guess my point wasn't (or shouldn't have been) so much that it's worse but moreso that it is definitely sublte yet quite different.

Well, I gave it my best try to go naked, but just couldn't do it. I saw a video of a guy taking a knife to the Moto X screen and not leaving any marks, so I decided to forgo my usual policy of slapping a Zagg InvisibleShield on everything. But, I forgot how "smudgy" these screens get without a protector. So, I just ordered a Ghost Glass tempered screen protector http://mimeusa.com/product/moto-x-ghost-glass-screen-protector/ I never tried tempered glass before (didn't even know it existed), but it sounds interesting.
The ebony wood back is also getting all fingerprinted-up, which was making me twitch. I found some good feedback in various posts on the Power Suppor Air Jacket Clear (not the Grip) http://www.powersupportintl.com/Air-Jacket-Clear-for-Moto-X-p/mmtx-71.htm It's supposed to be much better than the Incase Snap Case.

I just wanted to keep my customized buttons exposed. I mean, why pay all this money for a customized phone and cover it up?
I bought the first one posted with the weird tab on it. although the buttons are covered, they are highly functional. I do agree that if you customized the accents / buttons you want to show them off, should be easy to cut the button covers out with an xacto knife (done this before on several TPU cases)
good luck!

Do NOT cut the button covers, I've tried that and found that can NOT reach the buttons with my finger. The bumper is too thick. Lucky I bought 2 bumpers so I have another one to use.

you can cut the buttons out, but you have to cut them to match the curve of your finger, meaning that they would need to look like this
) for the left side and ( for the right side.
I just need something like this, but not with half assed cutting.

Any Cases that Cover the entire frame?

Hi
I bought a oneplus one about 3 months ago and I absolutely love it however I dropped it a while ago and everything is fine but the frame area to the left of the charging port is completely jacked up :/ chunks of it are missing too...
I'm currently using the oneplus flip cover however it doesn't cover it up, so my question is: is there any light tpu/hard shell case that covers up the entire silver bezel, or at least the bottom of the phone so I don't have to look at this anymore xD. All cases I've seen so far leave a bit of the bottom frame exposed just enough so you can see the damage :'(
Anyone know any case that can cover it up?
Thanks!
I advise you to look for the "Diztronic" TPU case, covers completely the silver frame, following the contour of the screen. There's just a 1 cm spot where the frame is visible, at the bottom of the cover, near the hole for the USB cable, but in normal use is not visible. It's 6 months that I'm using this cover in combination with a tempered glass and I'm really satisfied.
Guess it all depends on what kind of protection you want. If you just want mild protection and to just cover the sides, then go with the tpu case. If you want heavy protection, I would suggest the Tudia Omnix Hybrid, http://www.amazon.com/TUDIA-Full-body-Protective-Protector-Resistant/dp/B00SO4XYHA . I have the Tudia case and it has taken a beating and protected the phone very well, even from some pretty high falls. Only con about the Tudia case, is that the front covers the sides of the screen a bit and prevents touch at the the very edges of screen. This can be a bit bothersome if using apps in full screen/landscape when you have to swipe down to exit full screen.

I totally agree, couldn't have said it better. Here are some visuals for you. I got the Diztronic case when I bought the phone, it has protected it from falling out a car, off the desk, and off a moderately high shelf. You can get a tempered glass screen protector off eBay, have to search a bit (TechArmor don't have one). I got one from user dreamlight2004 for around 5 dollars. I made the mistake of getting the OPO screen protector when i first got my phone and it went bad a month ago, a hard scratch from a key. Tempered glass protector looks so much better. Just loaded COS13, it should keep me busy until the OP3 gets announced - so far it's looking to be a really good phone (boo on the OP2 and OPX)

I agree, Diztronic bumpers are terrific.
I'm using this one http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rearth-Case-OnePlus-One-Folie-Ringke-Fusion-Schutzhulle-Cover-Tasche-klar-/121715293296?hash=item1c56cbfc70:g:gAUAAOSwT6pVt5tV And it is awesome. You can also print your designs for this case!
Ringke Fusion for me is great. It covers the OPO completly.
DO NOT BUY THE TUDIA CASE.
I bought it because I thought it looked pretty sweet. It's the worst case I have ever owned, and I have owned a few. Half the case is slippery nonsense plastic. You grab your phone "wrong" (by this I do not mean insecurely, but simply you happen to not have your fingers on enough of the case's rubber outline), it's like holding an eel.
The clips covering the audio jack and usb port are an absolute NIGHTMARE to open, and plugging in your charger for the night would realistically take three hands with 17 fingers each to manage in a reasonable timeframe. Good thing my audio jack's clip, after having been used exactly twice without even the slightest bit of the abuse it deserved, now no longer clips into it's crevice, and is permanently hanging out at a 30 degree angle. The pop-out clip on the back is nail ruining torture to get out, as is the rubber outline holding the front of the case, should you want to get this garbage off to see how far you can launch it through the air in rage.
I wouldn't use this piece of junk if they paid me.
I am using the TUDIA Dual-Layer case+a glass screen protector, which turned my One to a tank
I drop it way too often, but it still works flawlessly, so I can recommend this case. It also coverers the aluminum frame
I can rep the Poetic Case found here:
I took out the screen protector but I have been rocking the case for more than a year. It is kinda bulky but I have no worries about dropping it or tossing my phone on my desk. Also, It is kinda water resistant (with the screen protector). I have dropped like a glass of water on it and quickly cleaned it up with no harm
