Re-routing the rear camera of my tablet - Connected Car

So I plan to install a Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 tablet into my Nissan 350z's dash. Obviously the rear camera will be of no use since it will be facing the inside of my dash.
My question is: Is it possible to take out the rear camera and use it, say, as a dash cam? (via "extension cord") I havent seen anyone do this before....I dont see why it wouldnt be possible!

it looks as though it may be simple on devices such as a nexus 5 (simply make a ribbon cable that extends the camera ribbon and solder together)
and more difficult on devices like a samsung where the camera is built onto a PCB
i am looking into a similar hypothetical of having the camera on a device pointed downwards (if the device is mounted vertically)

[Q] htc desire camera problem

hi,
few days ago I dropped my desire on the ground and since then I have this camera issue - I cant focus objects that are more than 30 cm far from camera - it's all blury. in close it works very good, like it should.
all that i could figure out is - that focusing mechanism stucks at certain point and cant focus objects in far.
i wanted to ask if anyone has had similar problem?
is this camera defect repairable or should I buy new one? and are cameras for desire sold seperately anyway?
Thanks in advice.
The Camera isnt like a digital camera, there is no Optical (moving/mechanical) zoom, its all Digital Zoom, cameras are repareable and you can proably pick one up off ebay
Oddly enough when you take the picture and see it on the Phone/Computer is it blurry??
http://content6-foto.inbox.lv/albums137027374/martinzg/htc/focus.jpg
in title there is link of the example of what I get from my camera
Oddly enough it looks like tap to zoom on the keyboard, but with things in teh distance they are slightly blurred as an out of focus camera effect, oddly enough have you tried flashing the same ROM again??
Additionally you can always look at the repair option just as a safety net, ebay should have cameras (might be hard to spot to start off with though) and you can always look to the shops for repair info/advice, just dont tell them you dropped it like i did, as it appears warrenties dont cover accidental damage (damn Apple Store)
there is no changes when I take photo with flashlight - it's still blurry.
so, do you have any idea why pictures in distance is out of focus?
couldnt it be some kind of mechanical defect?
I have the exact same issue martinzg.
Will focus up close but not on anything over a foot away.
Contacted HTC this morning waiting for a reply.
I have the same problem here.. any news?
exact same problem here
old post, but I have the same issue !
Anyone a solution ?

[Q] Front Camera Dirty/Hazy

Anyone else have this problem with the front camera on their Epic?
The front camera on my Epic appears to have some kind of dirt underneath the glass. It looks like some kind of white lint or haze or dust or something has gotten underneath the screen/glass and in front of the front camera. If I turn the front camera on, it looks like I'm looking through a thick fog. If I look at the front of my Epic, the front camera lens shows up as a little white dot.
I can't see any possible way of cleaning short of taking the darn thing apart.
My dilemma is that I don't use the front camera, so I don't want to go through the trouble of un-rooting my phone to take it into Sprint for a replacement (I heard they won't honor any warranty work if your phone is rooted/rom-ed). But on the other hand, maybe I'll need the front camera at some point in the future.
Any similar experiences, suggestions, remedies would be appreciated.
I think its just cause its a ****ty camera.. really though I've only used it like twice
Cd's or tapes?
The front-facing camera on other Epics are noticeably better than my own, and I can see dust/dirt/something on my front camera that is conspicuously absent on others.
Edit: there are a few youtube videos showing complete disassembly. I hate video guides, so I had ignored them previously, but they do a good job showing the details.
Only slightly improved pictures after cleaning, but worth it. It does take considerably effort and much worry to disassemble. I also did not disconnect everything the videos show (like the ribbon cables - too risky for me).

[Q] Can we replace rear camera on Galaxy Note 8.0 ?

I gone through many review of Galaxy Note 8.0 and found that the only issue with this device is its camera. So I was wondering whether it is possible to replace its rear camera lens with some better 8 MP or 13 MP lens... Please share your view if you have any idea of it.
Thanks :cyclops:
Its not like you are switcing lenses, like on an DSLR camera. Its not a "lens" that determines megapixels. Its a whole camera module. Changing the module wouldn't do jack, since the tablet would not have the drivers for a different camera module to function.
But I understand the frustration. Manufacturers constantly cheap out and use crappy cameras on tablets. Its not my primary camera by any means (even for taking spur of the moment snapshots). But on a device like the Note 8 (a portable note taking tablet), I could see how the camera has a lot of utilitarian purpose. Such as for inserting photos into work notes.
Maybe your camera is jacked? Mine takes a decent snap shot. It's not support quality, but it's not bad either.

Camera differences.

Hi guys. Have to replace rear camera on SM-N976B. Are they the same across the model line, or N975F and N975U have different cameras? Thank you.
Wow, what happened?
Be very careful about ordering that part. Not sure if they're different but it wouldn't surprise me if so. May even vary by carrier version.
I -know- the c port pcbs are
Curved hands happened was trying to replace lens cover and poked middle camera with screwdriver. Now it is out of focus.
Ouch. Can you replace the cover without taking off the rear cover? No joke intended.
The rear cover isn't that hard to remove but you need a new seal.
Use heat, a little anhydrous isopropyl helps release the adhesive and take as long as it takes.
About a couple minutes max. The glass covers are cheap... if you go too far.
Might want to do the battery too. Again take your time as it's attached directly to the display.
Isopropyl alcohol and gentle prying releases it uneventfully.
I need to find new camera module first. Unfortunately, it consists of 3 cameras and 2 sensors. Not cheap, but also confused as not sure which one will fit my phone.

Definitely sounds like an issue with the autofocus. To confirm, is this on stock firmware with the OnePlus camera app or gcam mod?
As the OnePlus 9 phones use a laser autofocus, I'd check that nothing is obstructing the focus lens first (to the right of the top camera sensor). If you have a camera glass protector, there ones I've used put a hole there to avoid distortion but with the downside dust builds up and I need a qtip to clean it.
If this is right, the reason it works at first is it goes to its default focus level on boot and tapping to focus then directs the laser
Its a stock firmware with One Plus camera app. No lens protektora used. She uses original case what was un the box.
Assuming the laser isn't at fault, I'd say there's likely defective hardware, multiple parts it could be though. You could try the gcam mod app and see if that helps, if it were better there, then we would know its software and not hardware, but that's unlikely given the problem.
Ok. Will try
