The Honor 8 has Android 6.0 on the device. If we release an update to Android N, we'll announce it on our Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/usahonor/) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/Honor_USA) pages. Check out our social media sites for future software updates! (ED)

I love it so far. I have tried many unlocked phones, Huawei, OnePlus 3, OnePlus x, idol 4s, and others. This is the 1st one running marshmallow, that I get all my notification right away. Including Gmail. With most of them, I wouldn't get them until I unlocked my phone. The battery is crazy good when not in use. And as good as others while in use. The size is so much easier to handle than 5.5 screen. I do miss the speakers from the idol 4. This one isn't bad for bottom, but as with all very easy to cover. Software works amazingly well. Doesn't have some of the quirks the OnePlus had. Looks amazing, and camera is great. Pretty cool that it says honor on the phone too.

The Honor 8 is equipped with two main cameras, which, appropriately, have two advantages: low-light pictures can be brighter and images could be clearer. For me, this is the best thing that I like.

overall a good device,
emui colud have been better, especially with the ios look

Stunning Specs,Great Looks And Loved The Overall New Designing Idea...... Awesome......

please tell your software developers :
Why does Honor think that cutting out the ability to remove notifications from the lockscreen is a good idea?
Why is the ability to expand notifications removed for example: 2 Whatsapp messages , and if i want to see each message individually you would normally swipe down so the notification expanded!
- no quick reply options - no face unlock, location unlock, on-body unlock, or any other smart unlock options except for Bluetooth - Only shows music controls for the stock music app and Play Music, not any other music apps - Doesn't show album artwork in the background when music is playing
The standard Android lockscreen does all of this, I can't understand why they don't just use that instead. Hopefully they will in future.
Please try to fix this problems as soon as possible cause this is bothering everyone every-time they want to see a notification.

Overall I'm satisfied with this phone. Many pros, a few cons -easily scratchable screen is my main complaint here. Some lags here abd there, and in google chrome, sometimes, bit nothing which prevents a smooth experience.

Emui 2 wishlist

Hi guys i made this wishlist for Emui 2.
I was a little bit pessimistic about this phone in the beginning but now i like it more and more. I hope that Emui 2 wont dissapoint us.
Here is my list:
- fix night time widget on Me widget, add animation.
- fix music widget on Me widget so that we can access album directly.
- change dropdowm menu look to minimalstic and unicolour
- ...........
Mine:
1. Delete Emotion ui.
2. AOSP Please.
Because we are getting Kitkat we've got a lot of hope. They would have to remake kernel's and a lot of other files, so they are either going to make all of their mistakes over again or give us an amazing update and a huge performance increase.
You can try sending suggestions on their email support, by selecting subject as "recommendations" : http://consumer.huawei.com/en/contact-us/index.htm?tag=email

Dont see it likely they are going to scrap emotion ui. And many actually prefer it over stock android although im aware there are others who prefer stock.
More compatible suggestion i guess therefore is either providing pure kitkat for download so that those who prefer stock can switch onto it. But than if it was choice between them providing stock android or unlocked rom, which would you prefer ?

Nothing that can't be fixed with root.

Yes but they still giving some finishing touches because i seen some recent thread on Chinese forum from someone connected to the development team, asking users regarding what they want as the default toggles on Notification panel. So some suggestions like the OP made could be included. But yea its late for other big changes. But on the other hand, them releasing a version need not stop them releasing more like how they release on emui1.6. So they might include it later.

THIS.
Been so long I almost forgot about it.
Although with the last update, they did make the notification pictures for group hangouts bigger, but not higher quality.
Dumb question, but does my phone need to be upgraded to Android 5.0 for the watch to be upgraded? Not that there is an update for my Note 4, but I may have to hold out because of one specific application I use regularly that I don't suspect will update right away for Lollipop.
I'd update for the battery life.

This is not a problem with the Moto 360, rather with Google in general and the way they treat contacts. Google apps default to a 96x96 photo. On your phone you can set a specific photo per contact up to 720x720 (assuming you have Android 4.1+) but that doesn't fix the underlying issue, and the contact photos don't persist to gmail or from Google+. This is a really annoying situation to me, as I like to set everyone's contact photo myself, and then Google overrides it with a 96x96 of the person's Google+ photo if that exists. I don't want the person's Google+ photo, much less a 96x96 of it.

its like any stock android device . all get the updates in the same time frame . not like OEM updates .
I'm running 5.0 on my s4
And I can already access the new features mentioned in the article. Being able to hide the top notification is actually really awesome, without disabling notifications on my watch I can see the entire watch-face. Very cool. The only thing that really bothers me now is that the words "ok google" are on the screen whenever I wake my 360 up for about 3-5 seconds. It's pretty intrusive and doesn't look good on a lot of my watchfaces. I'll post photos if anyone is interested.
I believe you are looking at the update they did a week or two ago, 4.4w.2, where the enabled being able to swipe down the bottom notification without dismissing it. I think the 'ok google' thing will go away, maybe with use I'm not sure, but mine isn't doing it at this moment and it was shortly after this last update.

[Q] What are the benefits of upgrading our Tab S T700 to Lollipop

kindly share your ideas
Much better overall smoothness, great new notification design
Ability for third party apps to write to sd card. More secure. However it also has its negatives. No xposed support.
Supposedly battery apps need root support to get battery data now, can anybody confirm this?
John.

Not on stock tw roms it doesn't. We don't have 5.1 yet
Nothing. Loss of features, HIDEOUS iOS color scheme. Notifications on the lockscreen can now be either Google Now style cards or nothing. Can't simply allow notification icons in the notification panel to be visible on the lock screen.
Custom launchers can no longer change the number if homescreens, apps like Tasker can no longer toggle connections. And the toggle for mobile data is now three menus deep.
I didn't want to upgrade to Lollipop but since AT&T pushed it OTA, I didn't have a choice. Several times throughout the day, I told it "no, I don't want to install the update." So it waited until I was asleep and did it anyway. Now I'm not only stuck with TouchWiz but I've lost the ability to use Tasker to make it bearable. Done with Samsung and done buying anything from the carrier.

"Way better" is (imo) a dramatic understatement. Until no, I've been absolutely in love with my Samsung devices. The TouchWiz version of Lollipop has solidly convinced me to never buy another. It'll be Nexus for me from now on and if Samsung does another round of Nexus, I'll skip it.

For me, Lollipop is smoother/snappier. Games are running smoother and barely any lag. Web pages scrolling is smoother too on the built in browser.
Battery life seems to be the same. Some new features and animations are added and now you can pull down notification panel at the lock screen.

nice to hear those comments ...

so many complaints

So in the Samsung official s9 forum there are thread after threads of people complaining about the new 'downgrade' to Pie One Ui mainly about the camera features being removed,
Shutter button zoom removed
Separate Video and shutter buttons removed
Pro video settings removed
Selective focus is now useless (s9)
Selfie Camera default view is too close so effects all apps that use selfie camera.
The ugly iPhone look of the overall camera software.
Battery life is down quite a bit although I've been told that the may update fixes this at last.
There are a few other features missing or changed that i personally don't use.
I personally love the new ONEui especially combined with Samsungs one handed operation + app using gestures.
The weird thing is I'm not hearing any complaints in the s9 xda forums about the upgrade/downgrade to Pie.
Are you all happy with your phone's from Oreo to Pie ?
Personally I think they have lowered the quality of the camera to make their S10 phones look superior but that probs me having a tin hat moment
I had my S9 for all of about 2 hours - about the time it took to transfer from a screen-busted S8 to the replacement S9 a couple months ago - before the update to Pie occurred.
I've had no problems or issues with it. And I've had the S8 for just under a year and half so I went through its update from Nougat to Oreo.
I don't know what issues there are with "selective focus". It seems to work fine for me.
Now, I have disabled as much of Bixby as I can (deleted the Google app and removed that search bar too - completely useless for me). Changed the launcher to Nova Launcher which can remove those goofy rounded icon frames, using the BlackBerry Hub Suite of apps for all the IM stuff, even using the BlackBerry Virtual keyboard which I like better than the stock or any SwiftKey keyboard.
I honestly don't understand the complaints towards Pie. It's not all that different from Oreo, and I love the native dark theme.
I personally don't like the update to pie. Battery life is definitely worse, the wifi signal is worse (I tested it between the S5 and S7 and the S9 was the worst). I don't like the UI at all, reminds me of an iPhone. About the only thing I do like is the My files app. It's cleaner and easier to use and navigate.

You have nothing to compare it to then, Oreo was 100x better which is why people are a bit disappointed. And I have to say your setup sounds absolutely awful ?

You missed my line about having the S8 for almost a year and a half, during which time it updated from Nougat to Oreo. So, yes, I can definitely compare with Oreo, since I had it for about a year.
And, except for some shifting around of elements, I find it to be basically the same. I had no problems finding what I need anywhere within the revamped UI.
And, my setup works perfect for me and is absolutely wonderful. You can't say otherwise without trying it yourself
I know that features in camera like pro video, zoom using the shutter button, taking 3 pictures when setting a timer, motion panorama... are removed, but the ui isn't ugly, I actually liked it better than oreo.
Selective focus is a bit improved after software updates, but the blur effect isn't as stong as in oreo.
Battery life isn't too much worse, I think the first month I upgraded to one UI, it was very bad, but it has improved after learning my usage patterns...
Heat is noticeably improved since when I was on oreo my phone was a little too warm all the time, but now it's normal, even available RAM is higher, I have 1.4~1.6 GB free now, compared to 1~1.2 GB in oreo.
When it comes to animations, I find less frame drops with one UI. And I didn't experience any kind of major lag since I got the phone so no worries here.
The whole UI looks better for me, it's cleaner and easier to use, I've not changed any launcher, keyboard, or even themes, everything is stock. And I can safely say that one UI is overall better than oreo, unless you care about the missing camera features.
I am absolutely gutted about the camera software, but I do love the one UI and I just got the May update which is supposed to fix the battery problems.
I hate it that they removed the recent long press to multitask, i mean why would samsung remove such simple usefull feature?

No difference off the 1st full charge to 0.
See how it goes over the next few days and I'll post back.
I tell you what is annoying since the update, the adaptive brightness is just messing up constantly, so irritating.

Just go to settings>display>adaptive brightness and reset usage patterns. Then adjust it the way you want in each situation so it adapts to your adjustments...
This is the problem, it keeps cocking up, I reset usage and it's alright for a bit then it's drops to 0 brighteners so I move it to how I would like it and it'll be ok but then I go outside and the brightness doesn't increase so I adjust again for that and on we go because now auto brightness isn't doing anything and I'm constantly changing the brightness in the same brightness I've already set up, I reset again and all is ok for a while and then it starts again.
I'm going to wipe cache partition and reset brightness patterns and see how it goes.

Yes wiping cache might help, I personally enabled show control on top so I can quickly adjust the brightness manually to my liking.
Just got 5h35mins sot this time and brightness has sorted itself out, just need the original camera app back and I'll be happy ?

...for me randomised MAC address, better control Location permissions, Scoped storage but I'm not 100% sure if is enabled in Android 10, more polished OneUI... so far I like A10, don't like only new battery stats

fails to mention the up in pro mode iso to 3200 in the cam and 30 sec shutter vs 10 on android 9
Nice to know the camera got those cam speed and iso aditions, I am curious about the starage handling, as I previously read an article here in XDA that files created by any app would be available only for such app, the author saw this as a negative feature, I would like to see how that impacts overall file usage in real life now that android 10 is officially rolling out
The article does not mention what they crippled ...

I've seen you say this in two threads now. You should really tell people. What's this stuff they crippled?

Inquiring minds want to know. lol
External touchpads support is broken (both usb and bluetooth) - they don't work/gets recognized as mouse HID as it was on Android 9, currently more like some kind of touch input. Therefore mouse cursor acts strangely when using touchpads - it is way quicker in one plane (e.g. horizontal) than the other (e.g. vertical) which makes it usless.
The update does cripple support for Good Lock which is a huge drawback. You can no longer customize how many rows or columns appear in the quick settings. Many Pie themes are no longer working in 10. On the positive side, battery life has much improved with about 20% more battery at the end of the day. Certain apps such as Instagram will now switch to dark mode if you have it enabled systemwide. For those eagerly waiting, I'd say you're not missing out on much.

Every new version of Android on samsung starts without full support of every goodlock app. It will be the same thing for Android 11. They will update then eventually
One thing for me that kills the A10 update is being unable to Turn Off "Restrict Backgroud Data" on Power Saving Mode
I like to throttle the phone to stop losing battery as quick - Reduce Processor to 70% / AOD Off etc...
With the latest update they have removed the option to do this however when you activate it - It says be default that it is going to be switched on :/
Anybody faced the issue of KLWP not fully working after the update? I can set the wallpaper but the "click to launch app" does not work.

Thanks for this, I examined it.... My favorite was not described either, it is the "Smart Pop-Up View" - bubblehead type notifications for ANY APPS on your phone which when selected brings up said app in a tiny separate window!

That didn't come with Android 10 though. It's been there. Maybe it came to other devices on 10 but Samsung already had that feature.

HOLY Crap! You are absolutely correct! OMFG! Wish I had found that long ago!
I hate it when programmers change things just so it looks new and improved.
Zero-dark-thirty is NOT the time I want to discover that the snooze button on the alarm clock app has been "upgraded" and moved. Groggy/grumpy/sleepy self turned the alarm off this morning instead of just snoozing it.
Why do they keep effing with my snooze button?!?
